It was okay. I don't think I would come back if I'm being honest. Walking in, it was pretty empty. I've chalked that up to it being mid day Sunday. Although there was a game on and the bar was empty. The bartender/waitress was really polite. Maybe one of the only good things about this place. Starting off, we tried to order appetizers, Pickle Chips and Pretzels and Brats($10). We were immediately told they were out of Pickle Chips so we got Jalapeño Poppers ($7) instead. The Jalapeño Poppers were nice and hot! It came out first so we had enough time to try and enjoy that. The Pretzels and Brats came out as time as our entree. The Brats were hot and the Pretzel was warm. If you want a better Pretzel, try Costco or Sam's. It was lackluster. We ordered the Family Platter($47), they were out of Brisket so the waitress said we can double one of the other meats, we choose the Tri-Tip. It came with 3 sides, they were out of corn bread as well. We chose the Baked Beans, Garlic Toast and Sweet Potato Fries. Starring off on the meats, everything was warm. Nothing was hot, by the time we started going for a second tasting it was pretty much cold. The table was divided on what was the best meat,especially since we were bothered by the temperature but it was unanimously decided the Tri-Tip was dry. It kinda seemed like everything was just reheated it and served to us. The sides weren't too much better. The Garlic Bread was basically pieces of white bread toasted, the Baker Beans could have been from a can, literally could have been Bushes baked beans. Nothing special. I will say the Sweet Potatoes Fries were good and pretty much the first thing gone. I was recommended to go here as someone said it was really good. Maybe it was just the day of the week I went? The waitress had mentioned one of their chefs were out so they were behind on ordering some of their items. Looking around it seems like if you came with a large party, they'd be able to seat you. Maybe it's just a good spot for locals to watch the game and drink beer? I wasn't happy with the food and I don't think I would come back or recommend it to anyone. read more

How amazingly disappointing. Came here a few weeks ago with a friend who had been invited to their tasting event and the food was great, everything was delicious, was very excited because it's so hard to get good bbq in a setting like this. The chef came by and talked to us and was really nice. Took my wife there the other night and it was absolutely awful. Almost like a bait and switch, the food was not at all the same and the server was nice but didn't know anything about the food or their sauces. We came by a few weeks ago during the Monrovia Day Festival. Upon arrival we were informed they were sold out of certain meats due to being unexpectedly busy. We appreciated the notice up front and decided to stay. Service was friendly. Beer selection is small. Menu was a bit confusing and when my boyfriend asked the waitress questions about the combo plates, it got even more confusing. I attribute this to being a new restaurant and a learning curve with staff. Not a big deal to me but it was frustrating for him. Food was good and portions were plentiful. I wasn't a fan of the salad as my side dish (wilted bagged spring mix). There's a stage towards the back and we heard a great blues band (BLUE HWY)! We were there around 7pm and while the band was great, the sound was too loud for us to have even the slightest conversation. Maybe later in the night after dinner service would be a better option for that sound level. I'll try it again in a few months. I'm optimistic & am happy to have a local spot for live music. read more

This was my family's first time eating at this restaurant. We had originally planned to eat at another one nearby but happened to park in front of BBQ Blues. We thought we would go in and check it out. We were told they were opening at noon (so five minutes from when we walked up to the doors), but that the BBQ'd food wouldn't be ready for another 30 minutes. We decided to stay there instead and have a beer while we waited for the other restaurant. Because the ambience, beer and staff were so amazing we opted to cancel our other reservations and we were NOT disappointed!!!!! Between the four of us we ordered the beef ribs, potato salad, Mac and cheese, giant pretzel, tri-tip sandwich, pickle chips, and pepperoni pizza. EVERYTHING was outstanding!!!! Not only that but the prizes were incredibly reasonable. They also have live music on Friday and Saturday nights, but we didn't get to experience that since we were there just for lunch. Even our super picky 8-year-old gobbled up the tri-tip and pizza! We will DEFINITELY be back and HIGHLY recommend BBQ Blues!!!!!! read more

First time coming to this restaurant. It was amazing. We had ribs, tri tip sandwich, pizza, fried pickles, and a soft pretzel. Ribs were smoked to perfection and very tender. Tri tip was top notch as well. Best barbecue at a restaurant I have ever had. Don't usually like fried pickles but these were delicious. Pepperoni pizza was very good as well as the pretzel. And the mac 'n cheese and potato salad were delicious too. These people know what they are doing. And service was awesome as well. AND the prices were unbelievably low for a true barbecue restaurant. We had the Pulled Pork Sandwich and the BBQ Combo (brisket and Tri Tip) . The pulled pork is served on ciabatta bread. I had it with the side of potato salad. Both were excellent. The pulled pork was full of flavor. Had just enough barbecue sauce on it. If you want more barbecue sauce you can add it from the container on the table. The ciabatta bread had a nice crunch. The barbecue brisket and tri-tip were tender and also full of flavor. Everything was cooked just right. I highly recommend trying BBQ Blues, my process would be to try everything on the menu once.... Came here for the 1st time. Wife and myself are disappointed. Place looks welcoming. For it to lonely on a Saturday,should have been a red flag. I wish the server would have warned us that the wings were extremely salty because when i told her she looked at me like " what do u want me to do ". Wing were cold. The salad had more heat than the wings. The only thing that was hot was the Chilli cheese fries. Wings seemed not to be cooked properly. This is not worth spending time or money here. This is a pretty chill place, with a bar and lots of TVs. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very nice and made us felt very comfortable. We ordered the full rack of pork ribs, chicken wings, garlic bread, corn, coleslaw, fries, and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were a little burnt, the garlic toast was lacking garlic butter, and most of the side portions were on the smaller side. The Pork ribs was a little under cooked, because it was pretty chewy, they didn't fall off the bone tender. It was still pretty good though. The spicy BBQ was delicious but it could have been hotter. I use to go to this location when it was 38* and did not know they opened a BBQ restaurant in its place. I stopped in for lunch during the week and it was empty. I had to ask if they were open as NO ONE was inside. (Should have been clue #1). I remembered that 38* previously had bbq on their menu but surely, a new owner/restaurant/menu would have different bbq, right? Wrong. Ordered the brisket platter and it came out looking very sad and dry. Like Juan in the kitchen put the leftovers from last week in the microwave and served it up. Had to smother it in the house bbq sauce to get any flavor, which I know is a huge no-no at any bbq restaurant but there was no way I was going to finish the plain, dry brisket. Beans were good but I bet they are from a can and the texas toast was not bad. Hopefully this place can get it together for some decent bbq. The band's blues music was hopp'n good but so loud I couldn't hear a thing but them. They need to consider sound absorption on the brick walls or something. We were really anxious to try this place since opening. We went for lunch and we really wanted to try the brisket, but they were out of it. Since they were out of the brisket, I ordered a turkey sandwich (which came as a wrap) and my husband ordered the tri-tip sandwich (which also came as a wrap.) They used diced up meat (which seemed odd for a bbq place) and it would have been okay but it was generally flavorless. I ended up throwing mine away, and my husband ate only half of his, and threw the other half away. The fries were also cold. I ordered a cranberry juice/vodka and it was so sweet that even the bartender agreed it tasted like Hawaiian Punch. The waitress & servers were really nice, but there was a long wait for the food. We may give it another try sometime, just not real soon. read more

We had a large party on Friday night. We get directed to our table and nobody comes for 10-15 minutes. Just long enough for everyone to decide what we wanted. The server finally comes out to say she is out of meat. ALL THE MEAT. Which I honestly don't have a problem with. The 1 star is solely for being ignored for 10-15 minutes with zero notice that the kitchen was essentially closed. The person seating us could have mentioned, our waitress could have mentioned, even a sign at the front door saying all meats 86d would have prevented this 1 star review. Went early on a Thursday (5:30ish). Place was empty. Decore was a little aged (stools already ripped) and interior not updated from the previous restaurant. Expectations were low. Server was friendly and prompt. Food came out faster than expected. I had the beef rib with a salad and sweet potato fries. Beef rib was huge brisket on a bone. S+ would recommend 1000x. sweet potato fries were a miss for me. salad was pedestrian but fine as a side. Wifey got the chicken and it looked great. tegular fries are a win. the kid ate the mac and cheese and devoured (shes picky). Prices were too resonable and should be higher for the quality. Family had already ordered and 20min later they come out to tell us their is NO MEAT STOCKED. Server stated they had been out of meat since the morning sir its 7pm why not tell us before. Ordered SIDES that were NEVER RECEIVED. 2 SIDES that were received were A DAY OLD. Asked for drinks and 15min later we had to remind them. Also asked for BEER that was NEVER RECEIVED. Mind u it was not busy 7 tables were full. Straws were already opened and put into our drinks. Id much rather have me opening my own straw that im going to put in my mouth. We came in here on a Friday night after reading reviews. We came in with an open mind. We sat down, ordered drinks, and got our first round. Drinks were amazing! Although our waitress always had a smile and friendly, the service was slow. We had to ask her for drinks as opposed to her coming to us. Kinda understandable as I assume they are short staffed. Then the food came out. The food was lackluster. We shared a platter and the ribs were dry, chicken looked boiled (didn't try it), but the brisket and tri tip were ok. I am spoiled by my husband who bbqs for me so my standards are high. The mac n cheese wasn't my fave but my son gobbled up 2 plates of it so that's a win in our book. THE VIBES WERE IMMACULATE THO. The live band played great tunes, my son danced and was loving it. All in all, if you're looking for good drinks on a Friday with entertainment, this is the place.
