This is my go-to food truck whenever I go to PayPal Park for San Jose Earthquake games! The portion sizes are plentiful with lots of sauce. The line to order can be long but if you have cash they have a cash only line that is usually a lot shorter. Nothing beats eating Korean bbq just feet away from the pitch at a soccer game! They were serving a limited menu of Korean bbq rice plates, bulgogi nachos, and Thai iced tea, this Sunday afternoon. I ordered the bulgogi teriyaki rice dish, and it took just 1-2 minutes to be ready, with friendly and efficient service. The food was delicious (so delicious that they ran out by the end!), the staff was very friendly, and they were a tremendous hit with everyone! Holy moly - this was a great Friday surprise. We were lucky to get this truck at our Avalon complex. We didn't really know what to expect, so we were pleasantly surprised by the food quality, service, and quantity. I know some places are struggling in this new Covid world, so at most other places prices go up while everything else goes down. This was NOT the case with this business. We got hella tasty food - a lot of it - and it was served with a smile. It looked like a family was running the kitchen, which shows in the food. They had an efficient system and the food was made with care. If I had to compare it to anything - I'd say it's up there with Korilla BBQ in NYC. If you're unfamiliar with it, they were featured in the Great Food Truck Race years ago. Since I couldn't travel back home, I was especially excited to have found this truck. We got the bbq beef burrito and the spicy pork bowl. Between the two, the pork was our fave. We pre-ordered from the website set up for apartment complexes - the options there are more limited than what you can order in-person. Lessons learned from this time around: we'd probably just order at the window since there were a lot more choices (bulgogi nachos, Korean bbq Philly cheesesteaks etc.). We'd be curious to try those or maybe something with chicken. Overall - my husband and I are 100% satisfied with our meals and are excited for when it comes around again. Gave these guys a shot at the San Jose Earthquakes game last night and it was just average. I'm pretty sure it was a condensed menu and they were just pumping out these rice plates (boxes) as fast as possible. I went with the BBQ Chicken Teriyaki Rice Plate. Don't get me wrong, you get a large amount of food but it is $13. They stuffed so much food into the box that it wouldn't even close, so no complaints there! This also comes with a small "salad" in the box but that was barely even a salad. The chicken was average with flavors that didn't really pop. The rice was somewhat soggy by the time I got to my seat. Overall, nothing great but not horrible. For $13 I would probably try a different truck next time. read more

I ordered a spicy pork rice plate for 13.00 because the truck smelled sooo good from outside of my work. I saw the reviews and realized the low star reviews were so old so I gave the truck a try. The pork had great Korean bbq spice flavor and mixed with rice it was satisfying! They pack the container to the top which makes it worth the 13.00! The reviews said the sauces were watered down but I'm a huge sauce person and these were actually thick! There's a spicy mayonnaise and a red Korean bbq hot sauce. What a wonderful experience! The food was absolutely delicious, portion size was huge and satisfying, and the owners were so attentive and personable, too. We ordered kimchi fried rice, bulgogi nachos, BBQ beef plate, spicy pork plate and each one of them was a hit with the whole family. The quality of the meat was great (none of the mostly-lard you see in some places), perfectly seasoned and cooked (not too sweet or greasy), and generous in amount. I feel like I've had a lot of mediocre experiences with food trucks recently and BBQ Kalbi was no different. The BBQ Kalbi food truck came to my workplace and offered only a few items on the menu that day - your choice of protein (steak, chicken, pork or tofu) with rice. I settled on the Korean BBQ chicken rice plate - $13. It was a generous portion of chicken served over a large bed of rice and some iceberg lettuce salad. The Korean BBQ flavor was good and it was nice to see they offered a couple of sauce options to spice things up. The chicken itself was ok, though not the best quality chicken and slightly dry. I also found a small piece of crinkled grey paper in the chicken which made it a bit unappetizing. I was mildly amused to see that plastic sporks were the only utensil option available. I hadn't come in contact with a spork since middle school. The idea of stabbing at chicken with a spork seemed a bit daunting. However, it turned out to be ok because the chicken was already in bite-sized pieces which I managed to scoop up using the spork's spoon function. read more

Taco trucks have ALWAYS been around. HELLLLOOOO, at one point they were called roach coaches, and you could here them from your office miles and miles away. Remember that jingle? I love the owner Tom, who is super friendly and very gracious. I like the premise. Problem is, the meat tastes like any other taco. The only main difference is the spicy slaw. Maybe I had high expectations, and I was thinking the beef would be something different it wasn't. I definitely preferred the chicken over the beef. I can't eat pork and won't comment on it. The prices are reasonable, and the benefits about it being mobile are awesome. Make sure to get a 7UP or Sprite...as these tacos make your tummy rumbly. read more

Just tried their food truck tonight here in San Jose. We got the Kimchi fried rice burrito with shrimp, and the rice plate with shrimp. It took a little long to get our food, but that wasn't really the issue. The burrito tasted more like Kimchi and steam rice, with 3 pieces of shrimp thrown in. The burrito was $9.50, but I had to pay $1 extra for shrimp. Really? I counted a total of 3 shrimp in my burrito. I guess $.33 cents per shrimp is a good deal? As a rule of thumb for me: Any burrito that is over $10, has to be damn good! Just sayn' :) At any rate, the rice plate was decent, but overall I was not too impressed. Oh my...dare I say...the best Asian/Korean taco truck I've had yet?? So glad they showed up at OTG this past Friday...was definitely my favorite spot of the night. I really wanted to try their Bibimbap Burrito, but by the time my friends and I had gotten to the front of the line, it was already scratched from their menu! Sold out already?? Man, they really must be THAT GOOD. Instead, I ended up "settling" for their spicy Chicken and Pork tacos, which aren't slouches themselves my friends. Both had some faint heat to it (maybe a little more so with the pork), but nothing terrible and still stomach friendly for those that are less spice-inclined. Personally, I wished they were a little spicier, but then, they do have a whole array of sauces you can throw on there to give it a boost. Between the two, I thought the chicken was actually a little better just because it was a little more moist than the pork and it didn't feel as salty (probably why it was a little less spicy). Honestly though, it's almost like splitting hairs; I mean, it's white meat and "the other white meat". One of my friend's coworkers ordered the Bulgogi-cheesesteak for us to share, which essentially swapped the steak with beef bulgogi and took out the veggies. I'm not always a fan of cheesesteaks, but I would definitely be down with these. The meat in this one was really juicy, compared to how other cheesesteaks I've tried had really dried out meat. Other than running out of the Bibimbap Burrito by 6:30 (obviously their best seller on the menu), I could only think of one bad thing to say: the amount of unagi in the unagi taco is a little less than ideal. It still tasted good, and I can see why they don't give you crazy amounts (unagi ain't cheap I'm sure), but it's just that I wouldn't get it again since I know how good their other tacos are. They are priced about the same as their taco competitors, but I think these are so much better.
