The birria taco was good. Unfortunately the giant birria they didn't have it? We ordered chicken burrito, the chicken was old, hard, no salsa, onion, cilantro. Waste of money. The owner of this business should implement serving good food, to make sure customers don't waste money buying bad food.

Came on a weekday.. and waited 1hour to order and get the order -- I didn't check before hand and it was due to the $1.50 taco deal they had on May 5th :) returned on Sunday again and no wait great food !!

Soggy quesadilla because she didn't even close the lid out of pettiness

No wonder this place was empty. I should've read the reviews before I purchased ANYTHING from this place. There was a mistake with my order and the lady did not want to give me a refund for one order, made a huge deal and gave the nastiest attitude from the get go. She blamed the entire thing on me when it was a misunderstanding on BOTH ends. She even tried manipulating me by saying she was going to take it out of her own paycheck. It was only $13 I wanted back. Her reasoning to not be able to give me a refund was that she already heat up 2 tortillas. The quesadillas weren't even made yet?!!! I should've known I was going to have a bad experience when it was empty and she took her sweet time to not even greet us and take our order. (First time customer and definitely LAST)

We were staying at a hotel nearby and walked over for dinner. It's set up similar to a permanent food truck location with 2-4 spots (2 were open when we were there) with a large outdoor tented seating area. We took our food to go back to the hotel. They have menus on each spot and you order separately. When we went there were 2 places open: Mexican and Colombian. I saw signs for BBQ and Elote/Corn but those were closed. We were a little confused at first because it was our first time and no one else was ordering when we went. However, a nice man who owned the spots came over and told us his favorites and how we ordered independently for each location. From the Mexican spot we ordered the birria quesadilla. We did have to pay an additional fee to include the consume, which has typically been included at all other spots we get birria from. But, we did and it was good. The quesadilla was a good size and came with chips and two different salsas. From the Colombian spot we ordered a chicken empanada and Papas Rellenas (stuffed fried potatoes with a hard boiled egg). The chicken empanada was my favorite, it had a lot of flavor and had corn and peppers and cheese and chicken inside (probably more).

A friend introduced me to this spot for their birria tacos, and he was absolutely right. We came late at night just before closing. It was windy and cold, but honestly the perfect weather for hot, crispy birria tacos and a warm cup of consommé. Everything is outdoors, but there was a large white tent that we were able to sit under, which helped. There was only one person working, and he was clearly hustling and doing his best, so it took a bit for him to get to us. Once our order was placed, the food came out in about 10 minutes. The tacos were delicious. The consommé was rich and flavorful, and the hot sauce that comes with it was excellent. Exactly what you want on a cold night. Just a heads-up: it's dark at night with minimal lighting. Parking is nearby, it's very casual, and it's set up like a food-truck area with a few other Mexican vendors around. I would definitely go back. They have a gigantic taco I want to try next time. I've read mixed reviews about the ramen, so I'm on the fence about that, but I'd try it with more people. Overall, simple, fast, and very satisfying.

Came to visit this food truck place known for their giant birria taco. It's in a small area but they have their own private parking space. During the night they have white Christmas lights to to light up the area creating a well lit place to eat. They also have games setup to play while you wait for your food. Giant birria taco - it's alright. Too big for me and it's just meat and cheese inside. Would have been nice to have some chopped onions or cilantro. All the small tacos - really good. Their sauce is spicy but each bite is flavorful. The tripas are crunchy but not too dry, al pastor is juicy, and shrimp is good. Drinks - my pineapple didn't have enough ice so it was warm but either way both were good. Wait times were pretty long though. But I'm pretty sure that's because the giant birria taco took all the time to cook.

Have you seen the birria taco served in a pizza box?! I finally got to check out this famous taco spot in San Jose. We ordered the giant signature birria taco, short rib burrito, loaded Baja taco, and two drinks. Everything was fresh made and delicious! My number one favorite was the short rib burrito -- loved the tenderness and smoky flavor of the meat. It was well-seasoned and very juicy! Definitely going back for more -- I really want to try their birria ramen next time as well!

Sometimes things get better with time but unfortunately, this isn't the case with Con Sabor a México. We don't live in the area, so when coming back from a trip and we were going to pass San Jose, we decided to come back to some of the best quesabirria tacos we had, rivaling my mother in laws. Well, we were disappointed. We always came for the viral huge quesabirria tacos that brought us here in the first place and when we tried ordering it, the cashier said they didn't have the ingredients for it. Hmm, ok. So when we decided just on the quesabirrias, the cashier seemed somewhat confused on the type of tortilla, flour or corn. I believe they are always corn tortillas, so this threw us off. Still we continued with our order. We were charged for meat and cheese tacos with watery broth cuz that wasn't birria. That salsa they gave was fire and made the taco better but if you're expecting birria, just buy the birria bomb and make it at home cuz sadly, that's what it tastes like. Hope they get it together but we won't be making that detour anymore.

Not horrible but definitely NOT worth it. The wait for their huge Queso Birria was 45 minutes and it was 20 min for the flavored water. Food was ok, nothing worth writing about. Sitting area was nice but weathering badly. Laughed when one of the workers came out with her food and ate right next to us, 30 minutes after we ordered. Parking was initially ok, skinny lot. Not bad until a POS parks next to your or in front of you and you can't get out. If you insist on eating there, park in the street! Huge queso birria $35 and the flavored water $8 each. Water was eh. There are DEFINITELY better options around, choose them.

This was the man that was extremely hostile and unhelpful.

I have been coming to this place for years now and I've always had a really good experience. Until today. I went to order two orders of 3 birria tacos like I always do. The lady taking my order spoke no English. I don't have a problem with that, but if you can't understand my order then that's when it is a problem. We tried our best to understand each other and I ordered thinking I'd get what I asked for. When she called me to pick up my order it was not correct. I tried to explain this to her and she did not understand me. She looked at her coworker to explain the situation and he told us "no refunds" and told us to go. My boyfriend asked him if he spoke English to see if he could help us, but I guess that question triggered him because he became very aggressive and was asking my boyfriend "do you speak Spanish" in a confrontational manner over and over. My boyfriend became upset at this behavior and was trying to explain we are only asking so that we know if you will understand us or not. I was trying to explain I don't want a refund I just want what I ordered. He was not trying to listen to us and kept telling me to go and "no refunds." I asked a customer who was waiting to order if she can help translate. After she explained the misunderstanding the man told her to tell us we would have to make a whole new order and pay for it. I already spent $30 on the order that I didn't want. I am very very disappointed with this customer service and I will no longer be coming here. I have never felt so humiliated before. Please hire people with good customer service and that can understand their customers.

We got the baja and al pastor tacos along with the big birria taco. All tacos were perfectly cooked. We loved the al pastor the most. We also got their agua frescas watermelon and pineapple. Both drinks were refreshing. Although pineapple juice had a lot of pulp. But other than that we got our food pretty quick.

Haven't been back here for a very long time. Order some keto Baja shrimp tacos and Birria nachos because they ran out of fries. Upon getting the food. Everything was very bland, no flavor whatsoever. I can only taste the cheese nothing else. The meat wasn't seasoned and so was the consommé; it was extremely watery and bland. I am disappointed and how on earth; the quality went down hill. They also hardly put any toppings ( white onion and cilantro) skimping it out a lot. Overall it was okay; probably best advice would be to bring a salt packet. The outdoor seating patio changed. They made it a lot spacier. Other than that it's just okay. Would I come again? Probably but only if my partner is craving for them. Also additional the red radish/ turnips aren't that crunchy either.

I love this little enclave with activities, great music, and awesome food. I got some street tacos from here which were yummy and some fresh juice which was refreshing on a hot day. Fun, friendly staff. It was also interesting to see that they had keto options as well

I went downstairs (we were at Valley Medical Hospital) to get Ronnie since he wanted to come to visit Gavin, and so since we saw food trucks, we figured we should grab lunch. + Classic Chicken Sandwich for Gavin + Chicken Tenders and Fries for Ronnie + Nashville Hot Chicken for me (opted for spice level 5) Food did not take long at all. They accept cards. You don't have to tolerate/like spicy foods to enjoy a meal here. The chicken was not greasy and was crispy and juicy as well. Fortunately, a little after we devoured our meals (Gavin barely finished half of his), we were given the discharge approval since he was able to hop/use the walker and use the wheelchair. Different food trucks line up the drop-off area, convenient for staff and visitors to fuel up. It's never fun to be at the hospital. The husband and I came here for lunch on a weekend. Parking wasn't too bad, but because it is located in downtown area, expect some challenges. There was a line out the door when we arrived, but it moved at a quick pace. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side with limited seating indoor and out. The husband and I ordered the Grilled Cheese Nashville Hot and Chicken Tenders. The Grilled Cheese was tasty with a nice balance of heat and tanginess from their slaw. The Chicken Tenders were appetizing, but it wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped for. It does come with sauce on the side, which helped. Staff were nice and service was efficient despite the growing line. Although a bit pricey, I think their chicken is good and worth trying out if you're in the area.

Whenever I'd hear about a food truck back in the day, the first thing that would come to mind is prepackaged food. However, those days are long gone! These food trucks are now capable of whipping up gourmet meals that could potentially rival any local sit down restaurant. At this particular location, the trucks only come out on Friday night, with 9-11 different trucks to choose from. They also provide live music and fun games for the family. They do provide 5 gallon buckets that are used for seats, and a couple of planks/boards that can be used as tables while you are scarfing down your food. Today, I decided to order the Chicken Fajitas, and it completely exceeded my expectations. Without a doubt, it was the most delicious fajitas dish I have ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the vegetables were cooked just right, and all the flavors came together beautifully. Everything was cooked to perfection. The portion size was very generous, and the sides were fantastic. The guacamole, sour cream, Spanish rice, and black beans were all fresh, flavorful, and complemented the meal perfectly. I've always enjoyed the food here, but from now on the Chicken Fajitas will definitely be my regular order. Well-deserved 5 stars. Thank you, El Halal Amigos!

This was my very first visit to El Halal Mexican Restaurant in the heart of downtown Willow Glen,…read moreand I've been wanting to stop by for a while. I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.
