It was really a crapshoot deciding what to eat in this area. A few pizza places, a Subway, and a ton of halal restaurants. Guess which I chose..... This was one of the smaller places, and the fact that they made their food to takeout made my decision much easier. Only if Yelp mobile for my Windows 7 phone was more helpful. The menu here was very limited, so I chose a chicken dish that was spicy, but not as spicy as the other dish. I also ordered a spinach dish that had potatoes, chicken, and a lite cream sauce and buttered naan. I gotta say that it was all very good. The chicken was very moist and had a little heat. The spinach was nothing short of great, and the naan was made to order... About 12" round. Larger and less expensive than where im from. The person that was working behind the counter could have been a bit more friendly. But judging by how she served everyone else, maybe this was about as friendly as it gets from her....lol. Somehow, one of my rotation mates knew of this, Granted, he's from LI, he goes to school in Rutgers. Well then, I guess he must know his stuff around here. I still think this place has a weird name. After learning what halal meat was exactly, a whole bunch of us rolled out in our business casual wear and went for these famous zinger burgers that none of us knew about. They all ordered zinger burgers and fries the first time we came here, while I ordered garlic butter naan. As they raved about their burgers, I was pretty darn content about my naan. It was flavorful and yummay. :) The fries were shared and we all got hooked on them. Amazing how this small place got us all quite satiated. The second time we came, I knew I had to get the burger. And, well, everyone else got one too. As I was in the middle of the pack to order, I told the guy there that I would "have the same." He remembered me from last time and asked me if I wanted the naan again. I was quite blown away that he did! The zinger burger was okay I suppose. What was great about it was that it was only 5 dolla! Add some white sauce to it and it was golden. The guys who work here are really nice. I went here with a friend of mine and I was really glad there was a place Muslims could get some American Food. The best part about this place is the fact that although they do have American food they do add their twist to make it more delicious! Everyone who comes here just try the Zinger burger because that's what is known for. The only thing I didn't like, was the fact the service was a bit slow and you had to wait a bit even if you called in. Overall it's a great place for family and kids! I've been to BBQ Nite many times before, every time I go it gets worse than the last time. I don't even know why we go there anymore! The desi food is good. The employees are very hard working but short-handed, and the tables are clean. That's all it does well! The paint chips are literally coming off the walls. the floors are dirty. (The employees are always shorthanded) Nobody even wears a hairnet while in the kitchen, maybe why a lot of people like the food. The burgers always take a long time and don't come out good. It's freezing in the winter. You yourself have to take the paper plates, plastic forks, knives, spoons, and straws. The mango lassi is like drinking rubbish. In my last review I wrote that I'd return to try the famous zinger burger. Today was the day. I'm slapping myself for not returning to try it sooner. I am totally sold! The chicken itself already has a spectacular intensity of flavor. The sauce and toppings just take it to another level. I'm taking a guess here but it seems like the special sauce is made of a combination of white sauce, ketchup and perhaps even hot sauce. Whatever it is, I'm totally hooked. It's served on a hamburger bun with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. I know all of that sounds pretty standard but this is not your ordinary chicken sandwich. It's the way the chicken is prepared along with the sauces that really set it apart from other sandwiches. The meat is crispy and flavorful. You can tell they marinate it in sauce prior to cooking. If I had to make assumptions I think they probably marinate it in the same ingredients as the chicken tikka. If you want to take the complexity of flavors even further order it with a side of masala fries. Hell, even throw a couple of fries in the burger to kick it up a notch. It will take the level of heat a little higher from the added spices on the fries. Since the fries are small theres plenty of room. Be sure to have napkins on hand because when the juices from the tomato combine with the sauce things can get a little drippy. I was speaking with one of the employees while I waited and he told me they got an order from a school yesterday for 700 zingers. If the word wasn't out about this sandwich before, it sure is now! At $5 each it's equivalent to the price of fast food, only for much better quality. I arrived a little before 12 so I was first in line and first out the door before the lunch rush. Fantastic take out place. Yes you can come to the small, clean, semi-divey establishment and eat in but they cater to people picking up their food and the back of the booths is loose. The first time I came here, it took a loong time to place my order since there were a crowd of people coming in and out for food and calls every other minute from people placing orders. We were going to be in the area so we called in and placed our order before we left home. We got to bbq nite in about half an hour and our food was packed waiting for us on the counter. Easy breezy. The food is comforting soul heartening Indo/Pak cuisine. Its hearty delicious flavorful food served in generous portions and is inexpensively priced. Achaari Chicken $5.99 Fatty and oily but in a good way. Chicken was very moist. Very good. Chicken Makhni $5.99 Creamy and flavorful. The sauce was a litty thin and watery in consistency but flavors were good. Chicken Tikka Botti $6.00 Comes with several tender chicken pieces. Goat Korma $7.99 Yummy goat meat swimming in yummy curry. Garlic Butter Naan $1.99 The naan was more buttery and greasy then garlicky. I saw the reviews for this and decided to give it a try on Tuesday. I ordered the zinger burger and masala fries. The food took forever so I bought a can of soda from the freezer while I waited. I went to open it and there were 3 or 4 small dead bugs on top of the can. That didn't quite set the mood well for me. The food took a long time. The zinger burger was nothing special, the chicken reminded me of the spicy chicken sandwich you get at Wendy's. There was a LOT of sauce and toppings on the burger. It was okay. The fries were pretty good but they need some kind of dipping sauce. The place itself is a hole in the wall and kind of skeeved me out so I probably won't be back. Time for a Tandoori Tidbit with the Food Hounds on the Pakistani tip! Brimstone here to tell you about this tight little spot called BBQ Nite. In their first year of business, they're already extremely popular! The keywords to best describe this family run spot in Hicksville are tasty, bold and flavorful. Now, this is a small place so don't expect to be walking into a giant restaurant; but what they lack in size - they more than make up for with the food! Most Halal spots on Long Island or in the New York area are either very small or food carts. BBQ Nite has an adequate amount of table space to allow for a sit-down with some friends in a nice, friendly and educational atmosphere. If you don't know what to get, the brothers are more than happy to offer you advice on what's hot (literally). When you step into the place, the aroma is heavenly. You immediately catch a whiff of all the blended meats and spices and it's truly on another level! Before moving onto our dining experience, I HAD to make a mention of the TWO Tandoori Ovens that are used on premise - one regular and one they take while on the go! On to the food... which just kept on coming! For the first time ever, I tried the Fried Tilapia over Brown Rice... a fresh fillet of fish seasoned on the inside fried on the outside! I didn't think I was going to enjoy the Tilapia; but it had a tasty flaky crunch and was very flavorful. It was a little on the fishy side; but not overbearing, very flavorful. Next, look out... the Zinger Burger! Declared the most famous in town; this thick, juicy, tangy and spicy chicken cutlet had all the trimmings including one of my new favorites... Masala Fries! These babies were off the hook... spiced to perfection, the best way to describe them is orgasmic! They were similar to what I always imagined that REAL hot fries would taste like. I'd eat that awesomeness all week long. Same goes for the Seekh Kabab (named Seekh after the skewer its made on), a beautifully spiced chicken that was superb and tasted similar to a lamb gyro in flavor and texture. I have to take some time out to talk about all the varieties of freshly made Naan. Naan is a leavened, oven-baked flat-bread that is the bread of choice in the Middle East. At BBQ Nite, they make a bunch of different Naan including Regular Butter Naan and Sesame Naan. Some interesting flavors were Keema Butter Naan baked with seasoned meat inside with flavors of cilantro and onion. The Onion Kulcha offered onions and peppers baked in with a refreshing taste and a sweet flavor. Good stuff, two thumbs up on all of the above; but for the King of Naan... Garlic Butter Naan! Fresh, warm and bursting with garlic flavor! VERY tasty... Naan WIN. Back to the entrees... we had a bowl of the Chicken Meatball & Egg in a Curry Sauce that was the BOSS! The meatballs are actually cooked IN the curry to create an interesting texture where the meat was soft and tender on the inside; but a light shell on the outside. While the meat alone was good, the egg and sauce really tied the flavor together. I'd definitely get that again. The array of different chicken was astounding... the Chicken Tikka Boti (which we had with AND without the bone) had a taste of cilantro and coriander with a nice spice and touch of sweetness that cut through the 'hot' flavoring to give a really nice taste. The Behari Kabab was juicy, flame broiled on the outside with a serious burst of flavor in every bite. A popular dish was the Butter Chicken best described as curried chicken without the anticipated kick. A milder tone so your mouth won't be on fire (the sauce is great for dipping!). We had the Me-LIKE... I mean - Malai Chicken (Malai means cream) which was a creamy spiced chicken. Lush nominated the creamy and rich Malai for the Chicken WIN... Who can really argue with a six foot plus chicken connoisseur? EVERY sauce we had was intense and bursting with herbs and spices that the Hounds have never experienced before! No sauce left behind... we sopped up all the extra yum with Naan! Make sure to use the White Sauce, a blend of mayonnaise, cream cheese, sour cream and vinegar... DELICIOUS. Use it on EVERYTHING. Drink a Mango Lassi, a mango smoothie that was very smooth, creamy and had a ton of mango flavor. Lastly, for the WIN - the Mix Roll - a blend of ALL their meats to create this ridiculous blend of flavor that kicked our taste buds into hyper-drive! Tangy, sweet, spicy, juicy WIN WIN WIN!!! We were topped off with a bowl of the Kheer, a creamy, sweet style of rice pudding that has been in their family for 15 years. It had a slight nutty flavor (the almonds) with a six hour cooking time. This place is a joke. Yes, it is always busy. Yes, the "zinger burger" is delicious. However, this place will get 1 star only because I can't give this place 0 stars. This place makes food on order. I'm not sure about the typical Pakistani food but the burgers are made to order. This place has screwed me over 3 times. The first time I placed an order on the phone while I was right outside in the parking lot. I ordered 2 zinger burgers and 2 masala fries. After the 20 minute wait time they told me the they hadn't placed any order for the fries. So I had to wait another 10 minutes for them to cook up the fries. At that time it was just me and my wife so we were able to wait the extra time. The burger was delicious but the fries, they were soft and dry. Not like how fries should be. The second time was decent food and service. But the third time was what made us vow to never give them business again. There is a woman at the counter who is just way too incompetent to be working there. The only reason she probably has the job is because she must be related to the owners. That's the only reason I can think of that she is able to be employed there. I went into the restaurant to place the order this time. My order was simple: 3 zinger burgers. This time however the food was for my children. Now anyone who has children will understand that when a child wants food, that means they wanted food 10 minutes before. She tells me 20 minutes. So I go back and wait in the car. After the 20 minutes are up, I go in to retrieve my food. And guess what? The order hadn't even been placed! I was livid. Seating wise : there are 3-4 booths, it's more a fast food type of place. Staff was friendly and courteous. Parking out front. Prices were very reasonable. Oh they're halal!
