I've been living in my home for about two years now and had not used my outdoor BBQ because I was so disgusted with how gross the previous owners left it. I finally had enough and decided to get both the side burners and the main BBQ appliances professionally cleaned. I stumbled across BBQ Renew through a Google search. I liked that they were upfront about their pricing and that they were a family owned business. I decided to contact them through their text message platform and quickly received a response. We were able to schedule a cleaning for the next week. The technician (I believe his name was Chris) arrived and quickly got to work. I appreciated that he brought and used all of his own tools, including a hose and vaccum cleaner, rather than using my hose which he could have easily accessed. Chris worked for over 3 hours and transformed my once horrifying grill into something beautiful. He even took the time to polish the exterior and the doors below. Chris also went the extra mile and vacuumed out the space below the grill as well. He definitely didn't need to take that extra step and I appreciate him so much for helping me out there. The website is very misleading. The services is more than three times what the website shows. Less than $300 in parts were replaced but I was told the grill would work and look new. Not true. I was charged an excessive amount just to have a cleaning. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I have several neighbors who wanted to see the work and are shocked at the work and price. We had an unfortunate experience with BBQ Renew, office located on Camino Capistrano. Kalamazoo recommended BBQ Renew to repair a pizza oven and also repair a gas grill. Tristan asked for $200 cash for the assessment and would order parts and complete today However, the employee that arrived this morning, stated he could not assess the BBQ and if he did would need to charge an additional $1000 for additional work. This place is a total scam! Do yourself a favor--look for a company with better Yelp reviews. You'll save money and avoid the frustration! They charge you for on-site inspections, and if you pay by card, they impose ridiculously high fees, essentially forcing you to do business with them. On top of that, they find all kinds of excuses to overcharge for inspection fees. Last time, they charged me $160 for an inspection, which couldn't even be fully applied toward the service--it's clear they're money-hungry to the extreme. The business is run by the owner, his daughter, and a technician. Their communication is terrible--none of them seem to know what the others are doing. Here are just a few of the issues I encountered: 1. Terrible Appointment System: They take days to respond to appointment requests. If you don't reply instantly, they'll ghost you for several days, resulting in an appointment being pushed back by three weeks. 2. Suspicious Payment Practices: They insisted we pay in cash to get a discount, which makes me strongly suspect they're evading taxes! 3. Ridiculous Price Increases: Initially, they quoted $241 to add an igniter. During the first service, we opted for just cleaning, which cost us $1,300 after a so-called discount (and we had to pay in cash). When we asked them to come back to install the igniter later, their daughter quoted $425, tacked on various made-up charges, and even added a $99 service call fee--just for a 10-minute igniter installation that didn't require any inspection. In summary, they overcharge at every turn. Avoid this place unless you want your wallet emptied with nothing to show for it! The only positive note is that the technician cleaned the floor after completing the work (it took about three hours for one person to finish), but even that doesn't make up for how awful the owner and their main contact person are. They're rude, unprofessional, and blatantly overcharge. The owner even claimed that all the negative Yelp reviews are written by "bad people," which is laughable! Very disappointed in their service and customer service. When I first called to get a bid for cleaning my BBQ they said it would be $99 paid on arrival but that cost would be applied to the service. If I did not take the service, there was no refund. I should not have proceeded at that point but did. We discussed the different cleaning options and came to the opinion that since my BBQ was in perfect working condition it was not necessary to take their restoration cleaning. I did take the deluxe cleaning for $350 and also purchased some flavor grills for another $387. The work was done and it certainly did not have an excellent clean look when finished. After the worker left I picked up the grates and there was lots of grease on the bottom and not properly cleaned at all. Now for my frustration - after calling the company, sending pictures and having several conversations, they sent me an email saying that since I did not choose the $100 more cleaning service, it was cleaned appropriately for the price I cleaned. I kept asking for them to come out and look at their work and tell me if that was what they thought was the quality their customers expect. Needless to say, they did not and they stopped answering my calls. Do not use their service as unless you pay their maximum, whether necessary or not, you will not have a clean BBQ. Was going to buy a new grill from them but the model went out of production, so I purchased it elsewhere. When they came out for the $99 inspection, they had quoted replacement costs which included $358 for installation and disposal, and $175 for an "Installation Kit". The tech said the model would only need minimal modification of the island cutout based on their experience. When I asked the cost to install the grill that I purchased the installation cost went up to $550 and an additional $150 for disposal. I didn't want to try modifying the island cutout myself - I would have replaced the grill myself if it weren't for that fact so I had them come out. The work took less than one hour - the new grill slipped in with no modification to the island needed. The $175 "installation kit" was just the new gas line hose that you can get for $24 at Home Depot, so it was apparently $150 for them to connect the hose on top of the $550 installation fee. $700 an hour is an outrageous hourly fee. My new grill did get installed, but I feel ripped off in a major way and wish I had read the other Yelp reviews before I hired these guys. read more

Have had quarterly service for almost two years. They've always done a good job. The last person they sent out was out there for twice the normal time, rocking headphones in his own world. He used his grinder in the middle of our outdoor kitchen. Made a really big mess, used our counter outlet for his tools, blew the GFI, caused the ice maker to turn off. That I did not notice for a few days. System needed a reset and new filters since it was not running, it had some mildew buildup. There is ONE lady that runs this entire company that has a lot of attitude. I asked to speak to the owner that he needs to know. She said she is the boss and the only one I can talk to. BBQ Renew is a terrible service. They over charge and their techs are terrible. They charged a fortune then their tech spewed crap from the BBQ all over our patio. Tech kept grinding the soot and such in with his feet ultimately leaving a huge mess. Called and left a message regarding what happened, no call back, no response asking how they can make it right. I needed some service on my built in gas grill and gave BBQ Renew a call. I scheduled an appointment, and a representative arrived the following week. Upon arrival, the representative indicated some parts for my grill no longer existed, but they could make some adjustments to the cast iron burners to make the BBQ light more efficiently. Although my grill was pretty clean, the representative indicated a cleaning would also be included with the job. On the day of the work, another representative arrived, cleaned out the cast iron ports, cleaned the entire BBQ, and the side burner. The representative did a very good job. In fact, when I do my quarterly cleaning, it takes a couple of days to scrub the parts, soak the parts, and put it back together. This representative, however, had everything completed in only a couple of hours. The BBQ lights faster now and looks great. At least I do not have to deep clean it for a while. A while back I called BBQ Renew to help with my BBQ. Let me say - do your research before using BBQ Renew. Everyone was nice and professional when they came to look at cleaning up my BBQ. I was looking for a deluxe cleaning which was $299 but by time they were done looking at the BBQ their estimate was minimum $1000.00 + potential extra charges for unseen needs. BBQ Renew wanted to change all the burners, heat plates, regulator and line plus the cleaning. When I said that was how much the unit cost when I purchased it they said I would just throw it away and by a new one then. Well I did not listen did my own bbq renew and purchased all new burners, heat plates, regulator and line and power washed myself. My total to do my own renew was $105.00 and literally 10 mins to replace parts- but a good 1 hour to clean my stainless steel Jennair. Business is business and they provide a service. This is just to help those who are willing to do a little extra work and save a whole lot of money $$$$. read more

The simple reference to registration of a domain name of BBQRENEW.com does not mean that you were operating a business; it simply means that you registered a domain name. And if you suggest that you were operating your cash grab operating business from 2008 to 2013, then you must have been operating without any business license as the Orange County recorder has no records of BBQ Renew or BBQ Renew LLC operating in Orange county from year 2008 to 2013 on Orange County FBN site. The first filing for BBQ Renew LLC at OC Recorder office was on 10/2013 and not 2008 as you claim! So if any homeowner is planning to use BBQ Renew LLC for any services, be prepared for lousy job, getting upsell on unnecessary repairs or simply getting ripped off as the operation is extremely shady and unethical. Furthermore this business seems not to be an authorized in repair/retail sale for the majority of brands that are they advertising on the BBQ Renew website. I do not recommend this company. I went with this company as a recommendation from a client but was sadly disappointed. There are many areas on the grill that was not satisfactorily cleaned. Left a lot of burnt marks and the comment I received was that it would require a "restoration level" charge. Before the consultation I did not receive any such comment and was only told "it would clean up nicely". Basically you are being charged $275 for a very light cleaning. This is very misleading. The worker explained the area that didn't clean would require an angle grinder to get out. He was using an angle grinder on other parts of the grill but decided not to for that area. So why didn't he just do it then or at the very least advise the client from the get-go or set expectations from the beginning that this was a light cleaning. As posted in another review, the drip tray was left with a lot of residue and solution from the cleaning that I had to clean up myself at the end of the day. And I ended up finding a lot of residue from the clean on my pavers from a sloppy clean up job. Overall sloppy and not neat. The knobs on the grill weren't even cleaned. It was left sticky and greasy and spent a better part of an hour trying to clean it myself the following day. I encourage anybody in the Orange County area to use "Grill Masters" which was my go to cleaning service for grills/bbq's. All you have to do is read the replies by the owner to determine whether this company is a fit for you: "Stay away from Walter! This guy is legitimately nuts!  And, he isn't telling the truth. False statements and photos. He's not ever going to be happy about anything. I really feel sorry for him." "We do not cater to Yelper's who try to get stuff for free. This client immediately disputed the credit card charges to rip us off and posts on Yelp" "Wow Kemmer, you are some piece of work. Posting another review 8 months later. Bad! I called and emailed for a quote. No answer. Finally called again and was asked to send pictures of my bbq through text. I did. I work. I am a single mom. My husband died. They also asked me to send pictures of my front entrance and front door and way to the back to clean bbq. I did so. They said " see you June 14. Leave $350 check on the bbq." CUSTOMER BEWARE!!! On April 24, 2023, BBQRenew cleaned our Viking Professional Series Grill, and it looks great. However, during this process, Sam, the technician placed the grill grates against a painted wrought iron fence while spraying the cleanser/degreaser. At the end we noticed that the paint on the gate dissolved due to this cleaning process. The cleanser dissolved the paint all the way to the wrought iron. We immediately informed the Company about what had happened, they refused to listen, or even consider the possibility of this paint damaged. Instead, their OFFICIAL position was that we are the typical customer who make false claims to avoid paying. For the last 4 weeks, we have made numerous requests for the name of the cleanser used, its Material Safety Data sheet, along with pictures of our damaged fence. These pictures which we posted, you could clearly see the damaged front side where it was sprayed by the chemical, versus the protected back side with absolutely no damage. The painted surface where the chemical was allowed to collect and pool, exhibited the most damage, especially the lower portion of the fence. Requests to speak to Mike, the owner of this Company through emails, text, and phone calls were completely ignored for 4 weeks. Mike, the owner, literally hid behind his receptionist, and NOT even willing to address this issue. His receptionist did all the speaking on behalf of Mike and the Company. Mike was never available, nor willing to return our calls. Although it's been frustrating dealing with this company, it is extremely important to address this to possibly change their cleaning protocol to avoid future damaged to painted surface. A new cleaning protocol needs to be instituted, where they would cover and protect all painted surfaces. I rarely review service's in my home but I felt it important to advise others regarding just how bad this company really is. Please read their negative reviews and you will see the reviews match mine. A technician arrived at my home to clean my LYNX BBQ, a very expensive model. When completed the BBQ was very dirty and that was only the beginning. The technician had removed screws and bolts during the service but he never replaced them. He also removed a factory installed heat shield that he also did not replace. Wired in a power supply and butchered the wires. Oh also we later found this company sold us a $90 power supply for $285.00, and the worst part of that was I later had my original power supply tested by an electrical professional who told me my original power supply was in good working condition. Avoid these guys at all costs. I have to have another company come out to repair and then finish the cleaning of this BBQ. The picture provided is after their service was completed! He (owner) vacuumed out the plets said the auger looked clear and that parts would most likely not fix the grill. He did not remove back panel to do any diagnostics and proceeded to tell my 4 thousand dollar pellet smoker was broken. I watched a you tube video after he left opened the back and quickly found my RDT was the cause of the issue. he spent a total of 25 minutes at the house charged me 100 dollars. Chris just left my home after cleaning my BBQ that had not been cleaned in many years. I had inherited this BBQ from a person who is a meat eater and never cleaned after grilling. I am vegan and actually thought I was going to replace it because it was so gross. But after looking at what a new BBQ would cost, I decided to clean it instead. Previously, I was skeptical of ads from companies that would show a really gross before picture alongside a sparkling after picture! I didn't think they could be believed. Our grill worked ok but was dirty and heating unevenly. So we called BBQ Renew. Chris was the tech that cleaned our grill. $275 later plus a generous tip grill looks great. Chris said he ran it for 15 minutes before he helped roll it back onto our deck. We trusted him and didn't test it while he was here. Hubby asked him if everything was working and Chris said it was. Minutes after Chris left hubby decided to try firing it up since I had defrosted steaks for dinner. No luck. Hubby called company and got Mike on the phone. Mike proceeded to tell hubby that Chris reported to him that the grill needed new ignitors. Chris never said anything was defective. Why didn't he tell us that? Seems to us like the cleaning caused igniters to fail. They worked fine previously. At hubby's request Chris came back and couldn't get the grill fired up either - he had to use a match to light it. BBQ Renew wanted to charge $59 each for 3 new igniters. Hubby found them on line for $10.19 each and will be replacing them himself. I wanted to replace my BBQ and not to do any cleaning or services. They sent me a text that it is a $99 service call. I called back that I don't need any cleaning or services quotes and she said: "Okay, we will give you the options". John came onsite and gave me replacement options and still wanted to charge for $99 service fee. I got three other quotes and all of them had lower BBQ prices, lower installation fees without charging a dime for the quote. I explained it to Mike and he was still insisting that we charge $99 unless you buy the BBQ and get the services from us that will be going toward it. They did an awesome job. I have a 50" FireMagic and GMG Jim Bowie and they came out and cleaned both perfectly. FireMagic gets cleaned every year and these guys will be getting my business from now on. Prior companies used were unreliable. BBQ Renew was highly communicative and showed up EARLY! They also did a great job on the smoker. Most cleaners won't touch the smoker, but they rocked it. Will definitely be referring business this way in the future! read more

I had a mixed experience, but overall not very positive. I'll start by saying that the company was very professional with scheduling and showing up on time. They used a two step process whereby they sent someone out to inspect my grill and provide an estimate before setting the appointment for the work. I really liked that they did not charge for the inspection. I also appreciated that they were willing to limit the scope of the repairs to what I wanted. It wasn't an all or none proposition. The electronics on my Lynx grill are shot, and we agreed that they would clean the grill and replace some parts, but leave the electronic starter alone (which would have been very expensive to replace). Before the inspection, I had already checked the prices for the parts they were going to replace. I had hoped that the price for parts that they quoted would actually be less than what I found since they are in the industry, but as it turned out they quoted me prices that were about double what I had found. Still, I was free to get my own parts if I wanted, so I did not begrudge them the apparent mark-up since it saved me from having to order them and the delay that would have entailed. (I'm not marking them down for this because I can't confirm that they actually mark-up the price on parts. It could be that I just found cheaper sources than they use, or perhaps they use better parts.) Then came the cleaning. A nice young man showed up and cleaned the grill. I noticed that he stripped down the grill and even removed the burners, so I was anticipating a really "restore to like new" cleaning (although I was chagrined to see that he put the burners in the dirt next to the grill). He spent a good amount of time cleaning the grill and replacing some parts, but I was concerned that he also spent a good amount of time running water over the grill from my garden hose. That water has to go somewhere, and I have remotes for the outside television in a drawer next to the BBQ, which I found floating in water after the cleaning (thankfully, no harm no foul). But my primary complaint is just that the cleaning was not that great. As you can see from the photos, the tray he replaced is all shiny and new, but the cleaning of the grill is no great shakes. In fact, I wiped off the grills to get off any chemicals he might have used in the cleaning process, and there was still grease coming off on my paper towel. I feel like the promised deep clean would have gotten the grills as clean as they could be. I feel like I could have obtained the same level of clean on my own with just a good 30-minute scrubbing. When he called me over for the final inspection, I immediately saw that there was a puddle of orange gunk beneath the burners. I asked if he was going to do a final wipe-down before calling it a day, and he responded that the water flushes out the grease from the BBQ parts, and nothing can be done about the dripping. I waited until the following day after the "dripping" had subsided, and cleaned out all the gunk created by the cleaning. I didn't take any pictures of the gunk inside the grill, but you can also see it in the photo of the tray beneath the grill. Having to clean my grill from the cleaning kind of seems to defeat the purpose. BBQ Renew advertises "Amazing Results" on their website. The BBQ certainly looked better, and he did a good job on the outside, but the inside was far from "amazing". The service was way too expensive for what I received. read more
