So after waiting over two weeks for Ivan to return, it turns out my ice machine went blank because the plug came out of the electric socket. It had to do with the core being routed inside the appliance bay that exacerbated the situation. So while he was here, I explained to him in pretty harsh terms I was not happy with the time lag of over two weeks for his return. That's completely unacceptable. read more

The woman who answers the phone has a negative attitude. Several of their phone numbers have a negative outgoing message that says your message will not be responded to so don't leave a message. Once you try to schedule an appointment you are told there is a 3 to 4 week waiting period. read more

The first time we had Ivan come out was after we had an absolutely terrible experience with some amateur warranty service. Ivan gained our trust after coming out to quickly fix what the previous company could not even comprehend. He's been out multiple times since, always extremely professional, honest, accommodating and kind. He has a great attitude and is always extremely friendly to us (I love talking to him). He often times goes above and beyond our initial request to make small fixes to our fridge (sometimes a small lightbulb, a stopping mechanism on the door, even cleaning out the condenser). My True under counter refrigerator was not defrosting or holding the proper temperature. It was just 3 years old and borderline out of warranty. Ivan from Sunset Appliance was able to work with True and have the repair covered by the manufacturer. It was a pleasure to work with Karen in the office and Ivan who made the repair. Great communications, gave me reasonable appointment window, showed up on time, completed the work on time, cleaned the floor under the fridge before putting it back and tightened some screws that made the drawers work better. Ivan has been GREAT from the couple of different times he's had to visit. Surprised to see so many negative reviews as I always found him super helpful and sweet, even going out of his way to fix some things he noticed. Not sure if the service just seems better since it's under our blue star warranty and no fee but only have great things to say. This is the worst appliance repair company I have ever worked with. They came to my house in Irvine to repair our stove top. He charged us for service call and the cost of a part and he said he will order the part and come back with it. He never did! My husband and I called many times to follow up. The rude receptionist (I think she's his wife) would be very short with us, and not helpful at all, and would just repeat that the part is back ordered. I finally called the parts company in Anaheim and they confirmed that the part was available all along, and never back ordered! I contacted them back, and they refused to come back and fix the cooktop, and not even refund us for the service they never rendered, and part they never delivered! Such a rip off!!! We have a ULine wine cooler that stopped cooling the wine. We called Sunset Refrigeration & Appliance Repair. Making an appointment was quick and easy. Ivan showed up our house on time. He is a very friendly and entertaining person. We liked him right away. He came in and quickly diagnosed our problem. He actually had the cooling fan motor in his truck so we did not have to wait for a part. He replaced it in about 15 minutes. I happened to mention that there was a problem with my dishwasher. He took a quick look and knew exactly what was wrong and said he would get the part and would come to repair it when the part comes in. He seems very knowledgeable about all appliances. I'm not even sure that they are still in business because I have left two voice mail messages and one email message over the course of a week and no one from the company has responded. On July 21, 2017, a service technician came out to look at my company's non-working Marvel ice maker. A part needed to be ordered so the technician left and said it would take a couple of weeks. We have an older Marvel wine cooler that never really worked correctly - and after it started freezing some of our wine we decided to give Sunset a call. Making an appointment was quick and easy and Ivan showed up right at the beginning of the appointment window. He diagnosed the problem quickly and made sure to tell us up front what the cost of the part and the repair would be. Unfortunately, he had to order the part, so we had to have a second appointment to actually fix the unit. But once again, Ivan arrived right on time and made the fix quickly and for the price that we agreed to at the outset. Now our wine fridge maintains a steady, appropriate temperature for all the plonk we're storing in it. Also, Ivan was very kind to both of our dogs, including our older big dog, who was always very nosy and curious about things that were happening around the house. I never knew who would show up, if I could trust them, and if they would actually fix the problem. Sunset is easy to communicate with, trustworthy, friendly, and affordable. The first time Sunset came out was for our old gas stove. The repairman walked in and immediately commented on the smell of gas. He went right to work and discovered the cause and fixed it right then. Sunset has also worked on our fridge, which did require a part, but was quickly fixed. Wow, I just had the rudest experience with Karen. She has the worst customer service manners. I have had Ivan come out to our home to fix our U-line beverage cooler and ice maker 3 to 4 times. The first couple of times, both were under warranty with U-line. The other times we've had to pay, $125 per visit. The last time he was here, he was here for 30 minutes and did a series of tests on the beverage refrigerator. He said that there was no problem and that there is a diagnostic system that he could attach to the refrigerator that could detect all of the issues. However, this diagnostic system that he talks about was not available. The last TWO service calls, the diagnostic system was not available. Karen said she left a mssg in August that the system was available. I'm not sure why they're offering me the diagnostic system months later when Ivan supposedly fixed the refrigerator. Charged us $125 and the beverage cooler is still not working. I have already complained to Uline (left Mike Miras, Service Manager a message) and BBB. read more

My experience was often that the number of companies they contracted with was limited - therefore the waiting time for the repair company to then contact me and the wait for their first available diagnostic visit could be ridiculously long. First time user of Sunset. I tried using 3 other services to repair a ULine refrigerator. .. one guy looked and left without touching it. Two others couldn't fix it. At any rate, Ivan not only fixed it but also my oven (he found a discontinued part) AND my kitchen refrigerator (different from above ULine.) SO, Ivan went to the trouble to research and locate hard-to-find parts....he was friendly, funny.. totally customer focused! This was one of the WORST companies that I have ever had to encounter. Fortunately it wasn't my choice of company chosen, it was by default by my range manufacturer that this was set up for me. I sent this company packing after experiencing the following: 1) Takes for ever to call you to set up any kind of service 2) Does not hold to they're service date and time 3) Rude customer service phone skills These kind of these companies are a dime a dozen and with this kind of experience, I don't see them being very successful with return customer experiences. Fixed U-line Wine Refrigerator which stopped working and Subzero fridge which was forming a large frosty wall and overall not great refrigeration. Replaced needed parts and cleaned coils.
