I had never met Bob before hiring him, nor was he referred to me. He is a qualified wood floor contractor and gave me a fair estimate to install my wood flooring. I paid a small deposit to know I would be in his schedule. He did a fine job and my upstairs floor required alot of leveling. I think that's always a surprise for owners, but second floors aren't always level. He worked it out and it all turned out beautiful. Sorry to write this review, because we like Claudiu (Bob) as a person. We imported exotic ironwood from Bali and needed a top quality installation because our wood is rare, extremely dense and hard. The finished job is disappointing, to say the least. Our wood flooring shifted after install and the epoxy filler put between planks cracked. For the original install, sealer was applied to the floor that looked terrible. After we questioned the appearance, Bob simply said he would re-sand the floor and use a different sealer. (He later faulted us with making the choice - one we didn't fully discuss the possible results). With the epoxy, the shifting wood all but destroyed the finish on the floors. As a result Bob was forced to come out a second time to redo the finish - which he charged us to do. Prior to starting the job, Bob was adamant about moisture content of the wood and climate control, telling us we needed to have our HVAC system working. Regardless, he installed our wood floor during wet weather and was aware than we would not have our HVAC working (something we rarely ever use in our location to begin with). In the first application, Bob used an epoxy filler mixed with our wood shavings but needed to use a different filler for the repair. He also sanded our floors with 80 grit sand paper, leaving the wood surface with a circular, scratched appearance. In talking with other professionals about how to get a better result, all of them expressed amazement that Bob did not make a second pass on the floor with a finer sandpaper. During the repair, he told me he was using a fine sandpaper, but again used 80 grit. By the time he was finished, Bob had sanded the main area of our floor five separate times with heavy sandpaper, taking more than 1/8" off the top layer. Should we have to redo the surface, there is almost no plank left before we expose the tongue and groove portion that connects the planks. Distressing to say the least. Bob is always quick with a response to explain why something went wrong, but always managed to attribute the result to factors beyond his control. In dealing with trouble we're seeing in the filler between the planks, Bob stressed that wood like ours would always move with the climate. If so, why use a hard epoxy filler in the first place? In both the original install and the fix, Bob showed more concern with finishing the work on his timeline than making certain that our flooring was finished to top-quality standards. Bottom line is that hindsight was needed before this job began. We didn't have it, and we're guessing, neither did Bob. If you hire him to work with real wood, beware. read more

I contacted BCB Flooring. Levi and Tibi were very nice to come without expectations to give me advice on the flooring installation done in my home by my contractor's worker. I had a dishwasher leak and had to redo the entire first floor. I did it in the same random wood material that I had before to math the upstairs so I knew exactly what I did/didn't want. I gave instructions and pointed out things in the 2nd floor flooring to do/not do and repeated it multiple times with each new mistake made. However, the latest section done by a different person then the one who did the majority of the house had all the things I requested not to have right off the bat. I also couldn't understand why there were so many hollow spots when we paid extra to level our home. Levi listened and helped me find a possible cause.
