We finally deiced to install hardwood flooring. Alexander Flooring were the official installer for LOWE's hardware and had replaced our carpeting. Rich Alexander came out and gave us a ton of information on what to buy and where to get it. Rich gave us so much advice on the types, brands, sellers, required methods. Our project was a bit complicated. We had the room extended and the contractor did a poor job of laying the concrete floor. It wasn't level, it had high and low spots, it was uneven. It required a lot of correction. They poured a liquid concrete floor leveling compound. Once they had the floor corrected, they laid the engineered hardwood. Originally, we considered 3/8th sold hardwood but Rich advised on the engineered floor, the solid hardwood will sometimes take humidity and the planks might change. Once they got started laying the floor they went very fast. Working as a team, one cut the planks, a second spread adhesive and the third trim cut planks and laid the wood. Something I wasn't aware of is dumping rubbish fees. The Puente/Rose Hills landfill is closed. They have to take your old carpet to a transfer station instead of a dump. Dumping fees could be well over $!,000. Alexander might not be the least expensive but consider your floor is going to be there for 30 - 50years. You might as well get it done right. read more

I was fooled. The vinyl floor started peeling with in 6 months of the installation. He didn't recommend to install a floor backing in order to do it right. Foolish me trusted him that it didn't need it, cost was not an issue. read more

We contacted Rich about a year and a half ago to install floors in our house, and we can truly say we've found our go-to guys. Rich and his team are professional, attentive to detail, and simply the best in the game. Since then we've hired them back to do all sorts of projects around the house - don't let the name fool you, they do so much more than floors! I am so grateful we found them. My only regret is that we didn't find them sooner because I would have loved if they did more (if not most) of our initial remodel. We found Alexander Floors through thumbtack along with several other contractors and ended up meeting 4 in person. Right from the beginning, Rich's approach to making us feel comfortable was noticeable and is what set him apart. Price: Overall, Alexander Floors, was not the lowest, but pricing wss competitive and he did come down slightly as we were already over our budget. Especially considering we found some carpet we liked but he did not have in his stock and was able to source it for us in a timely manner. Rich, did some work for us that included demo, self leveling, installation of floating floors and carpet and then adding in out baseboards. We get compliments from people who come over all the time about our floors and theirs buckle and Rich explained the process and kept us updated the entire way. We were under an impossible time crunch. Amidst all the haste with the hot housing market during the pandemic, we were one of those who wound up needing to list and sell our property so that we could get the most out of our sale, to then buy another house later. After our tenants moved out, we found that our home needed a lot more improvements than we assumed, one being that their dog had nearly soaked urine all the way down to the pads in all of the carpeted spaces. Our renters left us with a whole list of improvements we'd had to make to get it even acceptable, requiring handiwork and an entire repaint of our previously beautiful coastal paint palette. We'd hoped to salvage our premium carpets but after seeing the degree to which our carpet was demolished with urine odor and staining, I was forced to obtain a few local quotes from flooring companies. Alexander Flooring gave us the most competitive pricing with the most premium carpeting options available. Rich (the owner) was so friendly and flexible in trying to find a way for us to have premium carpet that new owners would not want to just rip up and replace (we wanted to save as much as we could), since that's sad for our environment and such a waste of an investment with new carpet. Rich gave me many photographed options of patterned carpet and price-wise, gave us roughly the same price for PREMIUM carpeting that was being liquidated to move new supply in, as compared with our original carpet vendor (from when we purchased the property and replaced the carpet) with bottom of the line options (think: low pile, rough, cardboard feeling carpet with basic single color). The options Rich sent me were beautiful. Since the constraints of the pandemic led to staffing and installer shortages all around, Rich's business was not an exception. He had an awful time trying to pull around staff to help with the install in such a short time frame (time is money, if we waited on listing our property we may lose out on traction with possible buyers). He was incredibly patient with our coordinating with our handyman repairs and whole house painting, and would come in after the sun went down to start ripping up the carpet. This patient and willing man lost a good deal of sleep just staying on our property to make sure that the job could get done. I did have to stay ontop of him with communication, but only because he was trying to recruit people to help him and because he couldn't afford to give me around the clock updates since the more he updated me, the less time he could focus on the installation. In the end, he wound up removing and installing the carpet essentially all by himself. He worked well with our staging company, allowing her to place items in the rooms while he was tacking down carpet and leveling floors. As the owner of the company, he really wanted to make sure our squeaky baseboards were nailed down and weighted so that our floors wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb at showing and inspection. As the lone man orchestrating the whole installation, he stayed incredibly late hours. One unfortunate fact was due to him being short-staffed, it took much longer than 2 days to install our carpeting. He knew our staging company HAD TO stage on a specific day due to the professional photography and plans to list. We had no wiggle room essentially, since our staging company had only that day or the following week to stage and we could NOT afford to hold off another week. After he installed one pattern in the hallway and stairs different from the bedrooms, he noticed the contrast between the rooms and hallway was too drastic and it was not as aesthetically coordinated/pleasing as he'd anticipated. He was disappointed with the contrast, and after seeing photos, I was torn: the job could be done soon, but it looked .... not great. So we made the frustrating decision to pull the newly cut and installed hallway/stairs carpeting and re-think our plan. Not once did he try to raise the pricing because of the issue. Rich was so patient. He was patient with my demands, with the anxious and frustrated tones of my text messages and calls, and stayed optimistic the whole way through. He traveled from nearly 1 hour away each day to install our flooring and in the end, we got the job done and it looked great. They truly are not finished until you are happy. People who came to our Open House made many comments on the flooring. As much as a pain as it was to get the job done for us, we are so fortunate to have found Alexander Flooring. I don't know who else would've tried so hard to meet our expectations on such a limited time frame with as much grace as he showed. We are buying a new house now 1 month later, and are having him provide us with a free estimate on LVP, which I have no doubt, will be a fair estimate. We recommend Alexander Flooring read more

Highly highly suggest! Make sure you get Jose to install your floors and baseboards. This guy is a PRO at what he does. Flooring : Install went beautifully, kept a clean workspace, was very respectful of my house and where he could setup and make cuts. Works at a quick pace and confirms with you that you are happy throughout the whole process with his work. Baseboards : Flawless! We have rounded corners in our house and Jose cut very tight joints. Caulking was perfect at the top and bottom of the baseboards. The nail holes were so shallow and small that all you need to do it add a bit of paint to cover it up the color of the inside of the baseboard. No spackle needed. The corner joints were easy to touch up as well. He was very economical with the materials he had. So little waste was left over when he was done. Management : We had some problems with the carpet install that would have held up Jose installing baseboards, but Ty (the field supervisor) came down to make sure to fix it in time. Thank you guys. I removed the existing flooring and had considered installing the floors myself, but after my experience with Alexander Flooring, I'm glad I chose to go with a professional. 1. They identified a number of spots where our concrete slab wasn't quite level that I probably would have missed. 2. We had a very tight timeline between when our painters would be done and when we were moving, and Alexander worked with Lowes to get the job done with time to spare. 3. There were two doorways where existing tile needed to be cut, which Alexander took care of for a very minimal charge. 4. They did a fantastic job installing our baseboard molding, including around all of the rounded corners. 5. Received several quotes but went with Alexander Floors Inc because of their customer service, expertise and competitive pricing. From the get go, Rich, the owner, was responsive and timely. First project was a kitchen backsplash with subway tile that looks fantastic and they somehow managed to finish in a single day. Stay far away from using Alexander Flooring. They will waste days and hours by not showing up after they confirm and change appointments and don't call to tell you they aren't showing up. Then, they will send a guy (Brandon) to "measure" the floor and give you a price quote. Of course, that quote is meaningless because once you approve the price quote, they then ask you to purchase ALL of the materials and supplies, and then also find a way to increase the price again on you. Oh, and once you purchase more supplies at Floor and Decor (also a scam), they will then tell you you get more or to exchange it for something else after they approved it. Evelyn was the "project manager" who also lied to me several times. This is a shady way to do business and borderline fraud. I paid two deposits to have my floors and tiles installed by them and they failed miserably. This was a referral from Floor and Decor's Installation Made Easy. Do not use this company ever! It's a scam. I am a real person that lives in Ladera Ranch/Misson Viejo, CA. I will respond to anyone here with my receipts and questions regarding this terrible experience. read more

I'm late on this review but Alexander Flooring retired our shower and bathroom floor and we're amazing all around. Super helpful and friendly. Rich helped talk me through the permitting process and was there to answer any questions I had on tile choices. Orlando, our tiler, was also really nice and has a great eye. He talked us into different ideas of how to lay our tiles and they look much better than what we originally wanted. They also opened up our shower by widening the doorframe and cutting a pony wall. Let me explain in detail why this company deserves a 1-star review (if not zero) and for all the family folks, I have little doubt after reading this if you will allow this company, their employees, and the owner near your kids and family. Alexandar Flooring sent out their folks to do ALL the flooring in my house after I had paid 100% upfront. They got the flooring wrong. While I was not at home, their workers bullied my 80-year-old mother to pay them $300 extra in CASH. Since my mother was unable to get a hold of me at work, she paid them the monies so that the work would not slow down. When I came home and discovered there was no receipt for the cash that was taken over and above what I had already paid in full. I complained and they came back the second time after a lot of prodding. The owner got into a fight with my general contractor and made him rush during a workday, complaining that the general contractor had done certain things with the wall that were causing issues. The contractor came out and the owner of Alexander Flooring got into a verbal altercation. When finally resolved, they did the floors only for us to discover that the floors still had major issues where there was buckling. A third party came out to take a look and they confirmed that the flooring had issues that needed to be addressed. Then the owner and his cronies show up on a Saturday morning. While I was in the garage, my owner barges into my 12-year-old daughter's room unannounced and starts screaming at her for not wearing her mask WHILE SHE WAS SLEEPING. As most Dad's would, I took little time to make the owner and his cronies exit my house. He refuses to apologize and neither have the floors been fixed. This is a man with anger management issues and I would warn you to beware before you use this company and let them into your house. read more

I purchased the materials (porcelain tile) through the Lowes Santa Margarita store and Alexander Flooring handled the estimate and installation labor. We had two upstairs bathrooms and a downstairs laundry room to demo/tearout and install our new tile (12" by 24" staggered). Marco arrived on Monday morning. I was surprised at the one man crew. But by Saturday afternoon, all work was completed. We are very pleased with the upgraded look and professional installation by Marco.
