Go here and few times a year and most often I am left satisfied. Usually stocked well on food. Service does a good job of checking in without badgering. Sometimes tables and sauce location can be a bit messy, but usually not too much of an issue. Thumbs up! read more

This is a pretty decent spot for the area it's in. The wait can be hit or miss. Sometimes it's longer, sometimes it's a little faster. We waited roughly 20 minutes for a table of our party of ten. Not too bad. Service was great and our waitress was very attentive and understanding of our loud kids. They do a pretty decent job at keeping the food area stocked but some people literally go HAM and will load up their bowl with an entire container of meat. So if you're behind a person like that you may get shafted unless you feel like waiting for the food to get refilled. I wasn't a big fan of the hygiene. There was a raw piece of chicken in one of the seasoning dishes which is super gross, especially if you are a vegetarian. There was also a bunch of food on the floor.... The line to actually get your food grilled was ridiculous but a manager was there making sure everything went smoothly. The cooks were fun and sang some tunes for everyone when we hit the gong and paid attention to not mix up the meaty dishes with vegetarians ones. The good: I love the food. I am constantly impressed with what I eat. The deserts are also truly wonderful. The bad: the price is absurd. It's $15 for me to create my own bowl. I get that you're paying for the experience of them cooking your food on the big grill, but for two of us with tip, we can't get out under $40. This is date price but not a date night vibe. My brother-in-law insisted that we try "BD's" out on our way home from the Air Force Museum one Saturday afternoon, because it was "the best place ever." I will admit, for a chain, it's not too bad. The concept is unusual and somewhat frightening if you are a germaphobe that hates buffets. Or someone who gets confused easily. But if you are an avid fan of buffets, this is the place for you. To start, you're given a small salad type bowl that you take up to the buffet and fill with anything you want in your custom stir fry. Steak, chicken, shrimp, noodles, veggies... Even your sauces are fully customizable. You take you bowl and cup of sauce to the huge grill where 2-5 guys are cooking and watch them make it. It's just like the Mongolian grill that you find at a China Buffet but on a much grander scale. If you have a hard time with figuring out what you want, they have recipe cards near the meat station that directs you on how to make traditional (and a few off the wall) Mongolian stir fry dishes. It can be pretty pricing, depending on if you get appetizers, a cold beer, or dessert. Or if you go for the bottomless bowl or a single serving. For two people to have the bottomless bowls and two Cokes, it was about $30. This isn't the kind of place that you rush to try out, but if you have the opportunity to try it- I would recommend that you go for it! read more

I enjoy this place. It's like chipotle but in a stir fry way. I like how you can actually scoop what you want and how much as long has it fits in the bowl. I'd say the bowl is somewhat small but if you know how to place your food in your bowl you could get a lot in there. The hardest part of the meal is picking your sauces there's so many choices. The staff who cooks the food are very nice. I could say the servers could around more and be more observant with drink refills. read more

I'm really torn on how to score this. First of all some back story. I've been visiting BD's for about 6 or 7 years now. My first visit was up in Michigan many years ago. Then, in Columbus. My family was very excited to find out that BD's was coming to The Greene in Beavercreek mere minutes from our home. And, when they opened, we were there at least once a week. We were there so much that the servers and management knew us. But, since the economy turned downwards, we haven't gone nearly as much as we used to. Some background about BD's. Its a buffet for stir fry. They have 3 gondolas. 1 for meats, one for veggies, and one for spices, sauces and seasonings. You fill up a bowl with what you want and you take it to a large flat grill, where they cook up your food in front of you. The grill will hold food for about 10 people. The benefit is that you get to choose what goes on the grill. How can you go wrong with that? BD's also offers cards that give recommendations on what to put in the bowl to help you get used to the process and to learn what works and what doesn't. They also have a small (very small) salad bar with a limited number of items. When your server greets you, they'll offer you white, brown, or fried rice, or tortillas. Those are included in the price of the buffet (The fried rice is a couple of bucks extra). For ordering, you are given a couple of choices. You can get a single bowl ($9) or the all you can eat ($2 more). The pricing is a bit high. This is one of the reasons we've been going less. This brings me to my most recent visit to BD's about 2 weeks ago. It can be very crowded and hectic there. Especially on weekend evenings. So, we went during the daytime. It was mostly empty there. Yet, the hostess chose to seat us in a clump of people. Not in a less-crowded area. Keep in mind that people are going to be getting up and moving around a lot while there. Not like at a traditional restaurant where people mostly stay in their seats. Someone there needs to design a better seating system. The server was surly and not chatty like I know they're supposed to be. Remember, I knew most of the servers from 2-3 years ago and they always stopped to chat with us. Even servers that weren't working our table used to chat with us. This girl was there and gone. It just didn't feel the same as it did a few years ago. The food was still the same.. How can you go wrong with choosing the food yourself? If you get something you don't like, you only have yourself to blame. Anyhow, I'd give them more stars, but this last visit was just not up to the standards that I've been accustomed to in the past. I like BD's and I'd go back again. But I'll be even more cautious before going again. read more

This is NOT a review about the host staff and servers at BD's Mongolian Grill, they were Great!! Our party of 4 had dinner Friday night, 11 Sep 2015. I travel and eat out a lot but unfortunately this is the first time I felt compelled to leave a review. This is a review about the CHAOS that goes on with the cook staff on the grill and the SLOPPY way they prepared our meals. Instead of properly cooking our meals with a little flare for the entertainment value, they TRASHED the food we had thoughtfully piled into our bowls. 1. My meal was BURNT and included ingredients from someone else's meal. I didn't put any pasta in my bowl but had plenty of it when I got to my table. 2. One cook scrapped the BURNT REMAINS, from the dish he had just cooked, so hard that chunks of burnt food flew across the grill and actually ended up in someone else's food. 3. The eggs I provided for my meal were madly scrambled and ended up in the meals being prepared on both sides to mine, but not mine. 4. My vegetables were smashed and OVERCOOKED BEYOND RECOGNITION. The cook staff acted more like a locker room full of teenage boys looking for trouble than professional cooks. They spent more time horse playing with each other and eyeing up the women waiting for their food than doing their jobs. The cook staff was in need of adult supervision but unfortunately none was available. read more

Buffet style meats, veggies, and pick your own sauces and spices. A word to the wise go easy on the curry as I completely ruined my meal one time. After your selections are made you take your bowl to be cooked on a large hibachi style table and your creation is ready to enjoy within minutes. I walked in tonight, and had to ask someone if I could be seated. After a couple minutes, someone came and took me to a table and said someone would be right with me. No fewer than 5 different employees walked by me 3 times EACH, including the person who seated me. No one bothered to even acknowledge I existed, let alone take a drink order or ask what I wanted to eat. One of them was wiping tables and sweeping right next to me for a full 5 minutes. I gave them a fair shake... after more than 15 minutes of sitting there, invisible to everyone working, I got up and walked out. This place is awesome and I'm sorry that I didn't go sooner. I was treated to lunch and I was surprised to be taken here. The place is beautiful and relaxing. The selection of fresh meat, veggies and sauces was outstanding. We took our bowls to the grill and watched in amazement as they grilled our food. Everyone was so friendly and actually seemed to enjoy what they were doing. The food was delicious. We tried the deep fried Oreos for dessert and they were delicious. This is the only place my wife and I go when we go to the Greene because it is amazing. The variety ensures that there is something for basically anyone. They have recently added fried rice to the items they will bring to the table(it costs extra but it's worth it) which is very good. One of my few gripes is that it tends to be very loud. read more

I really really enjoyed BD's. I would totally recommend going there.... as long as you go for a lunch! It was quite crowded when we went there for dinner and there was a lot going on. I guess that's a sign of a popular restaurant but it seemed as if the staff struggled a little with keeping all under control. There was a lot of food on the floor near the food bar, and the salad bar was an absolute disaster. Also, the prices for dinner are DRAMATICALLY higher than the prices for lunch. I enjoy going to this restaurant at the Greene. It's a pretty family-friendly place and overall fun place to have a meal. I usually just get a regular bowl, and am always surprised at how much you can fill up. There's a meat stand, then a vegetable stand, then a sauce/spice stand. Then you bring your dish up to the grill, where the grillers cook your meal. They grillers will often sing/chant and it's pretty entertaining. Sometimes vegetables like carrots don't cook as well simply because all the food sits on the grill for the same amount of time and it's not enough time to cook carrots. But otherwise I'm usually pretty surprised by how good my meal turns out even though it's basically a conglomeration of whatever meat and vegetables are appealing to me that day! Service is decent, they bring out tortillas/rice/lettuce wraps to go along with your meal. Overall price is good for the amount of food you get, I always have leftovers! read more

Unfortunately this is the only restaurant I have encountered that does not allow post-bariatric patients to pay a kids portion price for a true small (tiny) size portion, even after talking with a manager. They will allow us to order the crap food on the kids menu that we cannot eat like Mac and cheese and fried chicken fingers but not get actual protein and veggies as stir fry so for me it isn't a good value, and it's discriminatory in a world where almost all restaurants accommodate customers like myself. I'm in from out of town and can't take leftovers easily so that's not an option that works either. I won't come back until the policy changes. read more

last evening was my first negative experience at bd's. +1 for finding seating for all 13 of us on a busy saturday night. two adjacent tables. +1 for great good, as usual. if it's not good, it's your own fault. :) -1 for being out of broccoli. +1 for finding a way to get broccoli in 20 minutes. we think they literally went to the grocery store for us. kudos. -1 for the server goofing up our drinks. the lemonade was watered down ... a lot. so much so, in fact, that the waitress refilled one of the lemonades with water. nice. -1 for being very loud inside. i enjoy a good show from the grillers, but last night they were near obnoxious. -1 for pushing us out the door, even before we had our second bowls. we want to spend out money here, folks. please, let us. -1 for goofing up our checks. majorly. some people had wrong checks. some people had two checks. some people had no checks. -1 for the server becoming frustrated at us for her inability to give us the right checks. i promise, we weren't a difficult group to serve. 4 stars for the food, 2 stars for the service. in their defense, this is the first time in my many visits that the service has been poor. i'll return for sure, because the food's so dang good. i recommend that you try to avoid the busy saturday night rush. read more

BD's used to be my favorite restaurant. My boyfriend and I would take trips here for all special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, football games) and then a number of other times just because. At one time, I was even ordering ahead of time for takeout and picking it up a couple of times a month. However, my last visit took BDs from first to worst on my list. In fact, I have no desire to return to, order from, or recommend this establishment. There is a blatant cleanliness issue. There is the typical disarray from a buffet style set up during a dinner rush- and then there is what's happening at BDs. The floor is typically covered in food and sticky from poorly cleaned soda spills. Unfortunately, the floor is only a shade cleaner than the tables usually are after bussing. The buckets of extra food (including raw meat) are left in the window sill in the sun- the same buckets from beginning to end of lengthy dinner visits with no sign of being put back into refrigeration or restocked. There is no way that is the most "food-safe" method of "replenishing" that buffet line. The meat is no longer of quality- there is excessive fat and grease. Vegetables are dull and lifeless and are so mixed with one another from a lack of monitoring and upkeep on the buffet line, that it is nearly impossible to get the vegetable you want for your bowl without a generous handful of vegetables you didn't want. The salad and soup bar is in no better condition. The sauce bar is sticky and covered in a mix of all the sauces and seasonings. The one area I will not take away from is the grill. The young men at the grill are always friendly and have never cooked my bowls poorly. I'm simply too grossed out by the other factors to enjoy a meal there. Not to mention the fact that it made me very ill the last time I did. It is truly a shame that my once favorite restaurant now churns my stomach just thinking about it. Despite the numerous customer complaints to the filth, it continues to be an issue. This disinterest in customer concern and the subsequent choice of customers like myself to spend their money at other establishments doesn't seem to be in the best interest of one of the few BDs left in the area. read more

We love BD's! I have been going here since the restaurant opened, but we moved away 3 years ago. Of course when we came back to visit during Thanksgiving week we made a reservation for 8. When we arrived on the busy Wednesday before Thanksgiving evening our table was ready, the buffet was clean and plenteous and service was fast. There were still employes working there who remembered us, and we knew the manager. Even after 3 years this restaurant has maintained the high standards that were in place when it first opened. I love Mongolian BBQ but unfortunately I was very unimpressed. :( Some of my noodles were clumped together and not warm and others were so crispy and tasted burnt. I'm sad. I was really looking forward to dinner here. My husband said it was "ok", my daughter (13) felt hers was amazing and my son (10) said he liked it. We tried BD's on New Years Eve, and I REALLY liked it. The atmosphere was fun and the music was early 90's which was great! I really liked building my own stir fry meal. (although the meat station was scary since it was all raw) The salad bar was good too. I will definately eat here again and bring my son. He loves stir fry! read more
