What a great meal we had this evening at Ginger and Spice Asian Bistro. Everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. We shared the Jam Pong and the Ginger & Spice Wontons. The Jam Pong -- a Korean seafood soup -- had fresh calamari, clams, scallops, and mussels in a deeply flavorful broth with just the right amount of spice. The vegetables tasted fresh and vibrant, and the seafood portioning was balanced perfectly. The wontons were equally impressive, with what tasted like freshly made dough wrapped around pork filling and finished with a rich, flavorful sauce reduced just enough. Service was excellent. It's a family-run fast casual spot between MVH and UD -- you order at the counter and they bring the food out. The place was spotless, prices were very reasonable, and there was a steady stream of pickup orders all evening. No alcohol, just really outstanding food. Came here for first time and would probably return. It's a small space and I think they cater most to takeout orders. You pick up a menu and order your food at the small counter. There are some daily specials written on a chalkboard also. You pay and they'll bring you the food. I had the chicken lo mein and it was good. Temperature hot and large portion. We also ordered the Kung Pao chicken and general Tso's chicken. When you're done you place the dishes and utensils in a plastic container by the door. Not amazing but solid food. The staff were so pleasant and the cook who brought out our meals was the cutest lady ever! The food was great! The noodles were crispy around the rim and saucy in the middle, which was a fun mix of textures. Ginger and Spice is an awesome little Bistro!! My partner and I tried it for our first time tonight and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It's tiny but super cute, very clean with tons of bright lights. It's typical bistro style where you order at the counter and then sit down and they bring your food to you. I had the Mongolian Flank Steak (pictured). It was really delicious! The flank steak was super tinder, flavorful and balanced with spice. My partner ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken and it was also so very good. Real house made sweet and sour sauce, not the normal overly sweet red glaze at typical Chinese food. We loved both dishes! This place was a nice hidden gem. My boyfriend found it on GoogleMaps and seemed impressed by what he saw. He ordered the ginger and spice chicken and I had the garlic shrimp with sea scallops. We shared an order of ginger and garlic wontons. The ginger and garlic wontons had a bit of a kick maybe from the black pepper, but tasted amazing! I had a couple of bites of my boyfriend's ginger and spice chicken and it was very good with a sweet, sticky sauce. But, my favorite was the garlic shrimp and sea scallops that I ordered. The scallops were very nice sized and I got three in my order along with several large shrimp. I haven't had cooked cabbage in a while and it was a nice addition to the entree. I've been in Dayton for 5 years now and have tried and tried endless Asian cuisine options with no success...until now. Ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken Pad Thai and General Tso's. I got pickup. Inside the restaurant there's a pretty nice vibe. It's clean looking but still casual enough for college kids to eat in. The orange chicken has a nice sweet glaze. And the taste actually has a great spicy-orange note! It's a much better orange flavor than typical orange chicken, and you can see orange rinds too in the sauce. One problem that you often see at these Chinese American restaurants is that there is way too much breading or fried batter. This isn't the case at Ginger and Spice Asian Bistro. There's a light crispy outside on the orange chicken and the chicken itself isn't some weird breaded stuff, but actual chicken. It's pretty tender too. Atmosphere: 5 Super cute little restaurant that's bright and airy. It functions a bit like a Chinese take out in that you order at the counter and seat yourself. However they gave us a number and bring us our food. On a hot day like today, it's nice that the restaurant is abundantly air conditioned. For those who want a little more of the authentic food, you're going to need to ask for their Chinese menu. I was confused at first because their menu didn't include some of the items I've seen photos of on their yelp pages. It seems like their menus have changed. Portions: 5 Their portions are HUGE! Well, you get what you pay for. The food isn't cheap, but you do get a lot in return. Alternatively, if you share one entree order between two people, you're pretty much set. We didn't know that, and ended up over eating and taking out the rest of the food we couldn't finish. The wontons are bigger than usual as well. Flavors: 5 Although on the saltier side, the food flavors are authentic and delicious. They didn't skimp on any ingredients. For the fish soup, there was a lot of fish and vegetables in it. The wontons were delicious and the filling was well flavored despite the sauce. The sauce is way too salty to have on its own but paired nicely with the wontons. I love spicy food so the spiciness of the wontons didn't bother me, but the soup and wontons are slightly spicy for my fiance. Overall, I'd go there again to try something different on their menu. I was a bit bothered that they didn't give us both menus to choose from from the get-go and I'm glad I went to ask them for it. Was excited to try this place today and I really wanted to like it but I was just not impressed. I tried their ginger and spice wontons and the tofu curry. The sauce/soup that the wontons came in was very intense in acidity. Coming from someone who loves bold flavors, this was too much. My taste buds were quickly fatigued. If you are sharing with a couple of people it is probably ok. Then there was the tofu curry with snow peas. This was really disappointing for me. I love curry. This curry has zero flavor other than hot. With a good curry I can taste lots of flavor other than hot spice. This just didn't have anything but that spiciness. I'll start off with the establishment itself , it is very nice it's well kept and has modern style inside and out with plenty of parking , but the food doesn't match the image it's like a slightly higher quality food than any other Chinese takeout spot , I ordered the orange chicken and chicken pad Thai and the orange chicken had a chewy texture and they went super overkill with the sauce it was legit swimming in sauce but the sauce does have a good flavor they just need to use a lot less but the quantity was great you definitely can't beat the quantity for the price , and as for the pad Thai it was all around a 7 they put a very even amount of all ingredients into it but it's not very flavorful it just taste like basic takeout you'd get anywhere else and the dish is also very large so again you can't beat the sizing of the portions here . Now onto the service it seemed like the man taking my order didn't know much about any of the dishes and wasn't sure what you could or couldn't add to any of the dishes and didn't have any answers upfront that any of the customers had , and the wait time is atrocious I think I waited 35 minutes for my two items and when I ordered he didn't say anything about how long it would take he just said " that'll be right up " and said the same thing to everyone who came in for a pick up , but aside from all of that everyone who worked there was very polite . I would say it's a 50/50 coin flip if I'll go back I hope you appreciate the review read more

This place is exactly what I was looking for while visiting Dayton for work. A small relaxing restaurant with high quality food and friendly staff. The wontons were great but the spices were a little over kill. I felt like they were trying a little too hard with the spices. The ginger and spice chicken was fantastic. Cooked perfectly, great flavor, and the sauce added the finishing touch. Small note, I loved that their water station had a huge glass of water with lemons in it.
