Came on a Saturday afternoon for a quick haircut. First time here didn't know what to expect. There was about 3 people ahead of me but they had 4 barbers working. Got a high skin fade for $14. Was pretty impressed, the guy with a cap cut my hair, didn't catch his name but did a good job. The clippers were smooth he went pretty fast, it probably only took about 20 mins or less... they also have the compressed air to blow loose hairs away. The only thing is they don't gel your hair or put product in it when finished, but overall I'm pretty satisfied! read more

Terrible haircut and unpleasant experience. The man who cut my hair talked a lot like he had experience, just to end up ruining my hair and it looks ridiculous. They're not being transparent about the price as well. They advertise as $13 but then charge you $14 just for a basic fading that they can't even do properly. Do not recommend. Scam! read more

Great hidden gem!!! 1000000% recommend. Clean little family run barber shop doing affordable, stylish cuts. My boyfriend wont go anywhere else now (and I'm soooo glad) Sometimes busy on Saturdays, but honestly it's never a long wait. All the barbers are quick and do great work. They all seem to be really good with kids cuts as well. My bf has been going consistently to PJ (at the farthest back chair) for a over a year now and OMGoooosh he does a wonderful job. Very friendly, funny and top notch cuts. I tag along every once in a while & cant believe he does such a professional cut so quickly. PJ remembers what style my bf prefers, is super interactive all while doing incredible work. My boyfriend always looks amazing after a visit to PJ and is always pleased with the service. I call in advance and get told they have 2 barbers available. I take 4min to drive to the location to get a hair cut for my 5 year old. Upon arrival, there was about 10 people ahead of me. When I arrived, I was told it wouldn't be long. About 9 more people walk in, and everyone else gets helped before my son and I. Why lie to someone on the phone saying there's barbers available when the place is packed. I guess it's okay to cut people in line and just have them wait for no reason. Worst Experience Ever! Never going back again! First Off: Older lady second chair from the back corner assumed I was Vietnamese. Wrong! Second I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she failed miserably. Who the heck uses an electric shaver to cut the sides and back? And she's obviously blind cuz it was all uneven and not even straight. Spent 20 minutes after I left the place to fix her mistakes. I could have messed up less worse by myself and paid nothing!!! Third she said I paid at her register and asked for $5 yet I paid with a $20 and she only gave me back $11 (Thief). She obviously can't count either. Whoever owns this place should fire her immediately. Today's Date is 11/30/2017 420pm and there was a younger Asian guy cutting a younger child's hair while I was getting my hair cut. Just to give you an idea of how bad this lady was at cutting hair the kid kept looking at me and that's when I realized she was messing up my hair but already to late once she busted out the shaver. read more

Amazing price of $8 for a great haircut! I was just in need to a basic cut as my hair was annoying me on the sides and back. This place got the job done. The price was key. I knew I did not want to spend more than $10. So $8 for the cut and $2 tip. Perfect. The job was done well and of very high-quality. Just as great of a job I expect from other places in LA where I have paid $25. Quick, speedy service. Very friendly. Welcoming. Clean environment. Professional. Location was perfect! I always go back and forth from LA to OC. Westminster is just in the middle. I usually stop there to get the cheaper gas and load up on snacks. So getting a haircut at the right price was very ideal. Been going here for almost a decade. Trust all the negative reviews you see about PJ on here. He acts as if he hates his job. If the kid hates his job so bad then just quit. Making the entire barber shop look bad because this kid can't get his attitude together. No professionalism at all, no manners. Stuck up immature kid at its very finest. Does not know how to treat customers AT ALL. Not telling anyone to not come here, just don't go to PJ (usually at the last chair in the back). Peter cuts great hair and also Tammy based off my experiences. Even if you don't go to PJ, one day you will witness him throwing tantrums at other customers and arguing with them. That's a guarantee. My son was next in line but skipped him twice because apparently Peter said that he doesn't know how to cut long hair so he asked the other person to do it. Well she skipped him to and the excuse was that she didn't know how he would want his hair cut but never bother to ask my son. Chu Peter or Co Tammy (first & second chairs when you enter the shop) are my top 2 favorite barbers that I would let touch my hair. For years Peter and Tammy have cut my son and my hair. Today Tammy was not there. Peter refused to cut my son hair when he has cut it in the past. While I was getting my hair cut. Peter had my Son wait for the other 2 barbers who both skip my Son, Peter's excuse was that they don't know how my Son would like his hair cut. The service I received today was not appropriate. In hindsight, I should have read the negative reviews about PJ on here before coming in to ask for a haircut from him. This guy literally can just go suck a lemon. When I came in, he was so offended that I even asked for him because I was not one of his regulars but a walk-in. First of all, how was I supposed to know that he only takes regulars on Saturdays? He was so friendly to the guy before me but I think it's because the guy was one of his regulars. No surprise there. But then when I was next, his demeanor completely changed. My tactic of killing him with kindness surely did not work. He was cold, not welcoming, and treated me like I was a burden. He even rudely asked me, "Who sent you?" I would think he would be pleased if a new customer was requesting for him. This guy needs a major attitude check and it's baffling that even with all of the prior negative reviews about him, he still acts like a prick. I am a firm believer that consistent rude and disrespectful behavior towards others stems from upbringing. This review is for the lady that has purple hair and wears make up that's on the third chair from the door. I usually give her 17-18$ for her cuts because her fadeare nice and all. The moment I let her touch my top, she completely messes up soo bad. I gave her a specific photo that shows a guy with long ass hair. I had long ass hair. She proceeds to cut the top part by half its length. I told her specifically when she was cutting the length that I just wanted it like the photo where I could style it like his. I've been coming to Beach and 13th barbershop for many years and I can honestly say this is one of the better haircuts you can get locally. Can you get the same quality or better elsewhere? Yes, it's very possible..but you'll only pay a fraction of that here, especially if you're currently going to a salon. On that note, I never understood why a guy would go to a salon. I hear they give you some juice and will also shampoo your hair, but is it worth the price increase to be "pampered" a little extra? Maybe so...but I'm not about to pay that difference unless I get a some high end liquor and shampoo to go along with it. It's 7-8 bucks for a regular haircut. You don't get a straight razor in the back or sideburns, but I get a low taper so it doesn't matter for me. I recommend Peter or PJ, but Tammy and Helen have also done a decent job for me. Make sure you know exactly what you want. If you're unclear or want some ridiculous haircut, then it's probably your fault if they screw up. P.s. They also cut women's hair for 10 bucks..so if you're female and on a budget, you can come here too read more

I've been here a couple of times- not for me of course! Although they said that they would cut a women's hair, but only a trim. They can't do a style or anything for women. But for men they can do just about anything. I've seen some pretty decent fades and designs for men. I would recommend for the guys. There usually isn't a wait. It is kind of a ghetto like place but it is a barbershop so what do you expect?! The area is not the greatest but not the worst either. I would bring a friend for backup just in case anything goes down. You never know what could happen in this area... Even if you're just getting a new hair style you just never know. They can cut different styles of hair for guys, mainly this barber is for men, not many women come here. A haircut is fairly cheap, depending on what you get. I only spend $9 for a haircut. My son and my husband have went here for a few years without a bad experience... until today. I Took my son in with a picture of a spiked kind of hair cut. They said "comb over?" I said "no!" As the cut we were asking for was far from a comb over. And we walked out with a terrible comb over. Not even a nice comb over. I came home and fixed it.
