has potential but too expensive! this place would be packed and super fun if the price of everything was ~20% less. everytime ive been here its almost empty which doesnt fit the size and vibe of the space at all. it needs more energy and i truly think theyre missing an opportunity to have the coolest westside bar by pricing everything unnecessarily high. i dunno, its so close and i hate to see the potential not met. please consider a better happy hour atleast? read more

A great idea totally destroyed by a confusing and way overpriced payment system. The wristbands should be counted on your way out or there should be a naming system because if you're with a big group you will receive a CVS-sized receipt (literally was over 3 feet long) that is insane to figure out (both for the patrons and the servers). And the pricing system for the beers is super confusing and not worth it at all. Got 2 apps, one flight of 4 little beers, one full beer, and a margarita. Cost over $100 personally. Went to a fancier restaurant the day before with a pasta entree, multiple cocktails, and appetizers and it was about $30 less per person. Cool beer selection and decent apps ultimately ended up being a ripoff. read more

Went here with some work colleagues as its a new place near the Venice pier and let's just say the other spots around there are lacking in ambiance and hospitality. Happy we tried it because we had a blast! We sat at the bar and the dude behind Gaetano really took care of us. Super attentive, fun guy, made us a few killer cocktails and had us laughing all the while. I had an awful experience last night here where I was reprimanded by the head waitress for wanting to be served (all in front of my friend who has never been here a local and doubt will go back). Our drinks took a very long time to arrive and all in this time the table next to us who arrived after us had all their drinks. Our food arrived before our drinks and our server was busy on the other side of the restaurant tending to other tables and so difficult for him to check in(not his fault)...All of this was totally fine until the point where the waitress started telling me off and the part that got me was when she said I said something rude to her colleague when he brought the drinks over.....WHICH I DIDNT .......I merely mentioned that I had followed up with her and just wanted to let him know.. all good and not annoyed at all "happy" SO to nip this in the bud after her rant we decided to leave a not order more and went else where. I like to support local businesses but believe I will be perfecting the art of a good cosmo so I can make it at home if this is the new NORM ..... I came on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy. Food was decent and portion sizes were ok. It's slightly elevated bar food. However the service was egregiously terrible. Thankfully I opted for the beer on tap bracelet so I was able to get my own drinks, otherwise I likely would have left thirsty. The waitress never even brought me so much as utensils or bothered to checked in even once to see how I was doing. I had to flag down another waiter walking by to request utensils and get water refilled. At one point my waitress was talking to another customer for well over 20 minutes and never even looked around once to see if anyone needed anything. I had to flag down the other waiter again to get my check. This poor guy looked like he was covering all the tables for the entire restaurant while she continued to chat away with the customer. She triggered group project memories for me where one person clearly was doing all the work and she would still get credit for it. Beach and brew is fantastic, we came here on a Saturday night and was able to get a table right away. Our waiter Esai was very friendly and attentive and not to mention the food and drinks were amazing as well. Next time, we have to give the 45 tap beer wall a try. When you ask me what kind of food you want to eat? Seafood is not my first choice. Only SEE FOOD. But, when my bosses say that were going to the soft opening of a new restaurant, since he knows the chef, sure why not. Did not disappoint!! Especially since we pretty much ate everything on the menu. The only thing I will still not eat is Oysters. Sorry, still can't. The group and I absolutely devoured the whole entire plate. Let me tell you, the DUCK was amazing and it will feed more than 4 people at the table. I love the Lobster pasta and the flat bread. Prices are reasonable for what you order and it is definitely shared plates. The Chocolate Chip Skillet cookie is now my favorite here. I loved eating here so much, I took my girlfriend last night ( see her review ) and of course I ordered my pasta and cookie. Service was great and the open airy building made it comfortable. Be very careful dining here. They bring a portable charging system to your table & it allowed our very dishonest server to change the tip & give himself a 90% tip! Fortunately, the credit card company caught this & brought it to my attention. Nevertheless, I had to jump through all kinds of hoops/waste all kinds of time to get the matter resolved. I was excited to try a new local spot, ordered via ToastTab, the food was ready quickly. Ordered lobster roll, heirloom tomato salad, octopus tacos, and shrimp cocktail. Food was ready fast. Everything tasted ok except the lobster roll was a little rubbery. That night my husband and I got the WORST food poisoning. We share part of the blame for ordering seafood on a Sunday night but still..... I'm just glad I didn't give any of it to my toddler. Five days later and I'm still recovering. read more

The beer is flat and they charge you $22 for a beer that would be typically be $9 at a high end restaurant. The food was mediocre but for the portion size it was over priced. I would not recommend going there hungry. read more

Honestly was eager to try this place out with my girlfriend but, our experience was awful to say the least. When it was time for our order to be taken we asked the waiter how many pieces the fish and chips came with (because we like to share plates) and he told us that there would be 3 pieces of fish. We were happy with that and decided to order. Our plate of food was later brought out by another worker and when we saw that it only had 2 pieces on it we questioned why when we were told 3? He said that it depends on the size of the pieces how many it comes with (which is pretty disappointing considering how expensive the plate was) but that's not what we were told by our waiter and he said that it would come with 3. The waiter came back to our table and said he forgot to let us know that small detail and that he could take the plate back and we could order something else if we'd like. We asked if it would be okay if we could just add another piece of fish instead of having to order again because that is originally what we wanted. He said no and that it wouldn't be possible, we could either order something else or keep the plate....we decided to have him bring us the menu again. As someone who's worked in customer service this interaction was completely off putting and there was no remorse or any sense of trying to fix the situation for us in a polite manner. I guess the manager had over heard what was going on and came over to us. We explained what happened and he apologized on his workers behalf saying he was a young skateboarder as if that excused his behavior (which was hard to believe because he looked the same age as us.) The manager was able to get us another piece of fish but, we never received an apology from our waiter. Instead he never came back over to our table to check on us and couldn't even look us in the eyes. We were very unhappy with the way our dinner turned out. We thought we would go here and receive wholesome customer service but, we were sadly mistaken. Won't be returning to this place again. read more

Had my birthday brunch at Beach & Brew and it was awesome. Service was excellent (Nicole & Lani!!), food was good, and they accommodated my 20+ person party really well. A group of 8 of us went during their soft opening last week and unfortunately we were all pretty disappointed in our experience. Firstly, the beer taps were pouring a significant amount of foam and we would have expected a more diverse, unique selection vs beers you can buy at Ralph's down the street. Then our meals were all served at different times and mine several minutes after the 2nd to last person was done eating. Then we just wanted to order more drinks but our server never came back. She probably lost out on 2 rounds of drinks for half of us (we weren't doing taps). Then unfortunately the food was not good. Each person felt their dinner was blah. I personally had the shrimp and prosciutto flatbread and the shrimp was tiny and definitely frozen, and the dish was a bit tasteless. My friends had the hot chicken sandwich, fish and chips and thought they were bland or ok. We had to flag the manager to get our bill at the end so we could leave. To end on a positive note, the hostess was accommodating and could see getting a drink at the bar but other than that not sure I'd go back for more unless they figured out the food situation. read more

This place has a lot of opportunity, great ambiance, decor and theme.......Fun. AND................ The service is great however the food is really awful. My boyfriend and I would suggest the staff educate the customers the complications of mixing different beers. Honestly I'm a very well seasoned beer drinker ( colors light that is) and after today I highly recommend to not do what I did and share 10 different 2oz glasses of beer with whom ever your with!!! The carnitas Nachos had that processed cheese but well distributed at least and a fair amount of other ingredients, French fries were good but the ranch dressing horrific, I even tried my boyfriend's fish and chips.........eewwwy !!!! The price per plate does not match the level of expectation. I'm on the baking soda now yarfing up my meal......... almost done Honestly I should have know better, just though I'd give my new local restaurant a shot! Seriously......... what happened to the great restaurants that once were like Kifune sushi, it's like why don't restaurants home make what they put on the table and try to be different and unique.
