    Sauce on wedge $6.75.... Spicy....

It wasn't sensational. The cashier didn't respond to my hello. The sauce is salty and chili spicy. I wanted my bang for the $6.+ bucks.... Where's the langor? Where's the seaside slice sensation?

Beautiful view of the sunset up top. They have a great happy hour too! We had a few drinks and an appetizer while we watched the sunset. Waiter was friendly and quick !

Came here with my group of girlfriends and it was a 10/10 from the amazing piña colada's to the appetizers to our main course. The customer service was fantastic and the food was even better. From the breakfast to the lobster roll.

I come here multiple times a week and love the food, vibe, energy. My favorite server is KAM because his vibe is always up!!! The whole staff is always accommodating over the last five years I've lived here, but Kam really makes you feel at home. The food is fire, the atmosphere can't be beat and the happy hour is unmatched. Hospitality on max. Thank you Whaler staff!

Stopped by here after community service at the beach around lunch time. Service was fast and nice. I had the shrimp trio tacos and one crispy cod. I enjoyed both a felt like the shrimp could have use a little more seasoning but overall it was pretty good light weight meal with a nice sea breeze the fish and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Actually pretty good experience. Really enjoyed the views by the beach. Parking is available next to this restaurant so it's like the perfect location. It also has a bit of shade so the it's a really nice vibe. The salsa was a bit spicy and the chips were perfectly crispy i really enjoyed it.

We had an excellent Valentines day date here. Our service was prompt and attentive. Our food came out fast. And we had the ambiance of the sea. Couldn't be happier.

The best steak frites I've ever had honestly. We came here as a party of 6, everybody ordered something different & every single one of us loved our food. The fish tacos are to die for and the lobster Mac & cheese is just done to perfection. Perfect choice after a hot beach day. Will definitely be coming back for more!

LOVE THIS PLACE! This is, to me, the classic Venice Beach bar. Lots of outdoor tables, and upstairs is their bar and patio area that overlooks the ocean and all the people enjoying the Venice Beach vibe. This is the perfect place to watch a California sunset. Every time I've been here (and it's been a few times by now) I've always been upstairs on the patio. Super-easy to order drinks & snacks from friendly servers. My Whiskey Sours here have been consistently tasty, and the appetizers have been consistently delish! The Venice Whaler is now a staple for me on my visits to Venice Beach, and I can't wait to get there again!

I came here early in a the morning and it was such a nice vibe. The ocean was right in front of us, and it just felt cozy inside the bar. The food was soooo goood, I wasn't even hungry when I went but I saw that they had a Nutella French toast and decided to try it. I fell in love with it! It was sooooo yummy. My partner also got the steak with chimichurri and the steak was soooo tender. I was very impressed with how tender and delicious it was. And lastly the spicy tuna with crispy rice was good as well ! Severo our server/bartender was super nice and chill. I want to come back for the Nutella French toast and spicy tuna haha.

Great place to come be by the beach and have good vines Food is primarily bar food and wait time can be on the longer end during busier times or sporting events. We got the garlic Parmesan wings and coconut shrimp! In terms of bar food, it doesn't miss!

I know it's super early! But we are going to the Chargers Ravens Monday night game in November and will be staying in Marina del Rey Sunday -Tuesday, is this a cool spot to hang and watch the NFL games on Sunday?

Not really a sports bar. Check out Tony P's or maybe Coco Beach

    Do you take reservations?

They do not take reservations, but they usually have enough space in their outdoor tent space or upstairs in their bar area. Weekend nights can get busy.

What time do the open on Saturday, website says 8, yelp says 9, Google maps says 12?

Hi Garrett, We just updated our hours. We open at 8am on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday @ 1 is there a lunch menu also or just brunch?

Hi, Julie. Our both our all-day menu and brunch menu will be available on Saturday at 1PM. Thank you.

    Philly cheese steak?

One of THE best phillys ive ever had. They import their rolls from Philadelphia (chef is from philly), and the meat is always so juicy and fresh, mixed with the white cheddar.... the perfect combo 🤤

    What are their specials?

    Poor service!

I was instantly so glad we chose this spot to celebrate our anniversary because it was the perfect setting for a romantic date night. Now, let's talk about the food! Everything we ordered was delicious, with the exception of the Korean aguachiles, which we probably could've skipped. We also tried the bluefin bibimbap, oysters, and the oh-so-tender short rib that practically melted in our mouths. But the most unforgettable dish was also the simplest: the Korean fried chicken. It wasn't necessarily something out of the ordinary, but it sure tasted like it. The perfect crisp, flavor, and seasoning had us eating every last piece right down to the bone. Our server also made the experience even better. She gave us some of the best recommendations and were incredibly attentive and friendly throughout the entire meal. We absolutely loved this restaurant and are already planning our next visit!

My friend and I ordered the soy marinated prawns, beef tartare stone pot rice, creamy chicken soup, Wagyu beef soft tofu soup. The prawns were nicely marinated in a slightly sweet slightly salty soy sauce, and came paired with some barley and seaweed to make mini wraps. Delicious and a nice way to start the meal. The creamy chicken soup was indeed very creamy and smooth but the bowl is really small and would've been better with a higher soup to noodle ratio since the noodles soaked up the yummy soup. The tofu soup was surprisingly bland even though it was very red. It could've used more umami flavor or spice - something to jazz it up since the tofu, egg, and beef itself were not seasoned. My favorite dish of the night was the steak tartare stone pot rice. It came with a lot of veggies that helped balance out the sauce and I'm a sucker for crispy rice. However, the rice itself wasn't seasoned thoroughly as some spots had absolutely delicious sauce while other spots were bland. And the sauce wasn't a part of the tartare on top so it wasn't a mixing issue. The staff are kind and attentive, even with us being tucked away in the back corner and hidden by a curtain panel.

The speakeasy is unique and even serves full menu of great food! Aesthetic & Ambiance: 9.5/10 - it was very prohibition themed and the menus being price/luggage tags was very fun. Came on a saturday night at 6:30 reservation and it was very quiet with us being the only table most of the evening. The outside restaurant has live bands which can be a little loud. Service: 100/10 - Markley was the bartender and the only one who operates the speakeasy, she's not only the best bartender Ive had custom drinks from, but she also makes each individual product herself. She explained every part of the drinks and ingredients, and even offered to make any kind of drink we'd want if there was nothing on her menu. Deviled eggs: 7.5/10 interesting they were fried, but had great flavor all over Mongolian Beef: 8/10 very good flavor, and rice was tasty, but the sauce was a little salty. Cajun chicken pasta: 9.5/10 chicken was tender, pasta was cooked perfectly, sauce was delicious, and the sausage was a great addition. I'd easily drive an hour from LA again to come here!

The server was really friendly and patient as we worked through the menu. We all know the star of the show is the cornbread- literally no question. But a surprising opportunity came through the fried green tomatoes benedict. They had a beautiful crunch and fullness to them. The fried chicken was delicious - i wished it was a full meal with a side (not just coleslaw). I ordered the steak and eggs as an entree and it was cooked well but slightly paled in comparison to the other things on the table. Service was friendly but the experience was very slow. It took 30 minutes to get drinks and there were long lulls between courses that we took most of our mains to go. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu with great recommendations. The other note is that it is SO dark in there! Go after sunset and you won't be able to see your food or what's on the table. We're millennials and almost used our flashlights to see anything on the table. I think a combination of the slowness and darkness led to us not finishing our meal and just preferring to take it home. For the food: Deviled eggs - really tasty, nice small portion to share, it was two eggs. Mussels - delicious but should definitely come with a nice piece of sourdough to dip into the broth. We tried the house rolls for it, which were okay. Cavatelli - nice savory flavor, perfectly al dente, very rich dish. Chicken - my husband said it was great and recommends! Go before sunset and you'll be good!
