Came here with my group of girlfriends and it was a 10/10 from the amazing piña colada's to the appetizers to our main course. The customer service was fantastic and the food was even better. From the breakfast to the lobster roll.

Beautiful view of the sunset up top. They have a great happy hour too! We had a few drinks and an appetizer while we watched the sunset. Waiter was friendly and quick !

I come here multiple times a week and love the food, vibe, energy. My favorite server is KAM because his vibe is always up!!! The whole staff is always accommodating over the last five years I've lived here, but Kam really makes you feel at home. The food is fire, the atmosphere can't be beat and the happy hour is unmatched. Hospitality on max. Thank you Whaler staff!

Stopped by here after community service at the beach around lunch time. Service was fast and nice. I had the shrimp trio tacos and one crispy cod. I enjoyed both a felt like the shrimp could have use a little more seasoning but overall it was pretty good light weight meal with a nice sea breeze the fish and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Actually pretty good experience. Really enjoyed the views by the beach. Parking is available next to this restaurant so it's like the perfect location. It also has a bit of shade so the it's a really nice vibe. The salsa was a bit spicy and the chips were perfectly crispy i really enjoyed it.

The best steak frites I've ever had honestly. We came here as a party of 6, everybody ordered something different & every single one of us loved our food. The fish tacos are to die for and the lobster Mac & cheese is just done to perfection. Perfect choice after a hot beach day. Will definitely be coming back for more!

We had an excellent Valentines day date here. Our service was prompt and attentive. Our food came out fast. And we had the ambiance of the sea. Couldn't be happier.

LOVE THIS PLACE! This is, to me, the classic Venice Beach bar. Lots of outdoor tables, and upstairs is their bar and patio area that overlooks the ocean and all the people enjoying the Venice Beach vibe. This is the perfect place to watch a California sunset. Every time I've been here (and it's been a few times by now) I've always been upstairs on the patio. Super-easy to order drinks & snacks from friendly servers. My Whiskey Sours here have been consistently tasty, and the appetizers have been consistently delish! The Venice Whaler is now a staple for me on my visits to Venice Beach, and I can't wait to get there again!

Great place to come be by the beach and have good vines Food is primarily bar food and wait time can be on the longer end during busier times or sporting events. We got the garlic Parmesan wings and coconut shrimp! In terms of bar food, it doesn't miss!

I came here early in a the morning and it was such a nice vibe. The ocean was right in front of us, and it just felt cozy inside the bar. The food was soooo goood, I wasn't even hungry when I went but I saw that they had a Nutella French toast and decided to try it. I fell in love with it! It was sooooo yummy. My partner also got the steak with chimichurri and the steak was soooo tender. I was very impressed with how tender and delicious it was. And lastly the spicy tuna with crispy rice was good as well ! Severo our server/bartender was super nice and chill. I want to come back for the Nutella French toast and spicy tuna haha.

The quality of the food has gone down since I first started coming here almost a year ago, regularly. I recommend the other location in Santa Monica right across from the pier, it's top tier & food quality consistent. Came here on 4/14 the server was very nice, host was sweet, it's not a customer service thing it's a food quality thing, and for that, I will no longer be coming here.

Brunching at The Whaler felt like waking up in a California postcard--sunlight, sea air, and a fire pit full of friends who know how to live. The staff had that rare Westside mix of chill and genuine kindness, like they were happy you showed up and weren't just pretending. Rick Ross would call it brunch for bosses, and he'd be right. The Whaler delivers good vibes, great food, and the kind of laid-back luxury that makes you want to order another round and stay a while.

Stopped by to catch the dodger game. Great service and also their wings ??? A MUST! These were delicious & very savory. Friendly staff. I believe the downstairs is closed but we had access to the upstairs dinning and bar. Great spot for sports.

The Venice Whaler is cool bar at the beginning of the Venice pier. It's has terrific outdoor seating with a view. They have great service we were well taken care of and the food was ok. I had the Coconut shrimp and was ok there shrimp was cooked good but I felt like it lacked the coconut flavor. But it was nice and crispy. The pepperoni pizza was good nice sauce crispy crust and you get a lot of it at a good price. The house fries were really good nice crispy and a ton of flavor highly recommend trying the fries. 4/5 stars

I know it's super early! But we are going to the Chargers Ravens Monday night game in November and will be staying in Marina del Rey Sunday -Tuesday, is this a cool spot to hang and watch the NFL games on Sunday?

Not really a sports bar. Check out Tony P's or maybe Coco Beach

    Do you take reservations?

They do not take reservations, but they usually have enough space in their outdoor tent space or upstairs in their bar area. Weekend nights can get busy.

What time do the open on Saturday, website says 8, yelp says 9, Google maps says 12?

Hi Garrett, We just updated our hours. We open at 8am on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday @ 1 is there a lunch menu also or just brunch?

Hi, Julie. Our both our all-day menu and brunch menu will be available on Saturday at 1PM. Thank you.

    Philly cheese steak?

One of THE best phillys ive ever had. They import their rolls from Philadelphia (chef is from philly), and the meat is always so juicy and fresh, mixed with the white cheddar.... the perfect combo 🤤

    What are their specials?

    Poor service!

PROTIP: Study the menu beforehand, eat on the Patio, order the Wngs and Short Rib and Try Son Nong Dan across the street. SUMMARY: Go to Koreatown and get better food for less I finally visited the much hyped Mulberry the other night, expecting a fantastic experience based on all the hype and social media. What I got was an overpriced meal on Sawtelle that watered down what should have been a showcase for excellent Korean food.  Mulberry is cramped and dark on the inside and excellent on the patio. There are some interesting tables inside near the back, but the Patio is where the action is, especially when the sun is out.It has shades of Hatchet Hall's ambiance and a great vibe. Service comes fast and is very good. They do know what they are doing from a service perspective. Drink orders arrive quickly, and food is served fairly fast. We knew what we wanted before going. Korean Pancake, Wings, Dumplings, Acorn Noodles and Short Ribs.  Korean Pancake - small and just ok flavor. The sauce was good, but for $17, you could get a giant, better tasting pancake almost anywhere else. Fried Chicken Wings - probably one of the two stars of the night--had a fantastic crust and were very plump and juicy. Sauce and pickles were excellent and you get two types of wings with each order, both were excellent.  Acorn Noodles - a very good mix of flavors, good nori, the hard-boiled egg (a surprise) was good--expensive for $22Steamed Dumplings - well made and cooked well, but the lackluster sauce served with them didn't help. A well-crafted dumpling that needs a much more flavorful sauce to accompany it.  Beef Short Ribs - The other star on the menu, along with the wings. Very tender and great taste. Use the salt! We ordered the extras which you don't have to do. Small piece for $49. It's a No Tip restaurant so you get the automatic 20% charge - which I did not mind. Pay the help. Our bill came to $200 for a meal that was probably worth $100.You can go to some of the AYCE Korean BBQ places and get better quality, more food and be happier. The hype for this place will die down. If you like Sawtelle go to Son Nong Dan across the street for an overall better experience and better pricing.

Went early to see if anything opened or if walk-in would be faster, surprisingly they actually had something come available sooner. We opted to sit inside and loved the ambiance. Food - amazing! I read reviews first and watched a couple IG videos so I knew a general idea of what we wanted to order. Glad the server suggested the orange chicken over the walnut shrimp when we were debating it. Chil wontons, absolutely a must get, different from DTF, not crazy spicy but full of flavor and richness. XO fatty noodles, perfect chewiness on the rolled noodles and the flavors were well balanced, we enjoyed them with a little chili paste and the orange chicken as the protein. Orange chicken, soooo much more flavorful than your average Panda Express orange chicken, good sized nuggets of chicken that were crispy and tender at the same time, and the zest livened it up. BBQ pork shank, our server did warn us it's not the easiest to eat, but it's worth it, hard to see cutting it off the bone because it was so dimly lite in the restaurant and your hands will get sticky but once you get chunks off the bone and your bao bun built it's delicious especially when you get the lacquered crispy skin yummm! Only skip for the night was the mango sticky rice. Much rather would've spend $8 on something else. The mango was tart/sour. The sticky rice was too wet and mushy. It was a pass for both of us. Service - our server was awesome. From greeting to end, he was the right amount of attentive and was super helpful with suggestions. Everyone from the food runner to the busser, they were all so nice. From getting us chili paste or to go containers, customer service was on point. Parking - love love that are a few parking spaces right out front. They're metered. But after 8pm it was free so perfect for us. Other than those spaces, there's a lot across the street if you want to risk it or also side streets parking too.

The drinks rotate and I was bummed that I didn't get a chance to try the Ube martini. I got the All Betts are off which is made is guava infused mazcal and it was pretty strong. The smokiness from the mazcal and a hint of fruit gave this drink a unique taste. I will definitely order it again. I also had the bad bunny, I expected it to be slightly sweet from the orange and carrot foam but it was also made with mazcal, and the smokiness took over. Still good, but not what I was expecting. Another person got the Big Strawbowski and she said it was really thick, it had brandy in it and said it tasted like a dessert cocktail. She also had the Fast Car which was mostly ice. She seemed to like it. Apps: the crispy wontons were cooked perfectly. Had a good favor and one of my favorite dish of the night. The squid Ink Xiao long baos were ok, but we let it sit a little too long and it was cold and chewy by the time we actually ate it. So the flavors were ok, it didn't really stand out to me. Mains: the garlic noodles dish did not taste like garlic noodles. I honestly didn't even taste the garlic, but maybe because as a garlic lover, I over use garlic in every thing haha. The orange chicken was also decent, it was light, perfectly sticky and tasty. The walnut shrimp was also decent, well battered and had a nice flavor. Our server was very nice and answered all the questions we had, me from inquiring about the drinks to my friend's dietary restrictions. The resturant itself was trendy and a nice place for good drinks and decent food. I want to go back and try the Hainan Chicken!

Every bite had the perfect balance of crispy crunch, creamy cheese, fresh herbs, and just the right touch of heat. For our mains, we ordered the lamb shank and collard greens. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the rich, deeply flavorful broth made it even better. The green beans added a fresh pop that balanced the dish nicely. The collard greens were equally impressive, slow-cooked in a savory, flavorful pot liquor that begged to be soaked up with the must-order cornbread. Crispy on the outside, warm and buttery inside--it was perfection. Don't skip dessert. The chocolate chip cookies arrive warm from the oven and are the perfect ending. With its cozy, nostalgic atmosphere and elevated Southern cooking, Hatchet Hall feels like Sunday dinner at Grandma's--with a modern twist.

The breakfast plate was fine - bacon is really salty. The cornbread is the best part but even that is only good for the first few bites and then is heavy. Service is great though, so is the non-alcoholic cocktails menu and the ambience! Good for vibes and date nights if you're not picky about the food.

Also, having recently traveled throughout Indonesia in part of June & July 2026, I now understand more of the items on the menu from personal experience! Japanese Curry | Savory, hearty & delicious! I was immediately amazed when my plate arrived at the table! Eggplant, squash, baby carrots, and other veggies, swimming in the vibrant Yellow Curry made my mouth water! Each bite was just as yummy as the next! Incredibly flavorful! I would easily order again! Jasmine Rice | An aromatic mix of ginger, lemongrass & Thai lime leaves are both flavorful, as well as a great addition to combine with the Japanese curry dish! English Date Cake | Yum! The cake arrived complete with a beautiful purple flower on top! I absolutely love dates, which was a delicious part of the dessert! The banana toffee sauce really comes through as well! What a delicious combo! I would easily order again! Travel Notes | While in Indonesia I enjoyed some of the local flavors/dishes! After trying Nasi Goreng for the first time, Vegetarian style, I had the dish often throughout my travels! When I first saw the dish on the menu at Wallflower, I had no idea of what the flavors would taste like! Now I know and hopefully, on my next visit, I'll ask if the Chef can create it vegetarian style! Menu Options | More than the main menu is available; Vegan, Vegetarian & Gluten-free! I explored the vegetarian menu! Customer Service | Excellent, friendly and helpful with the menu! Seating | Indoor & Outdoor! Friends and I sat on the outside patio! I love the cute wooden tables! Overall | Yes, please! I enjoyed my dining experience, immensely, at Wallflower! I also had plenty of leftovers to enjoy! I'm looking forward to going back and trying other items on the menu! Let's go!

Wallflower absolutely blew me away. The food was so ridiculously good that I genuinely left…read morewondering how this place doesn't have a Michelin star (or at least some recognition). Every dish tasted thoughtful, unique, and restaurant-week-level refined. We ordered the nasi goreng fried rice, noodles, beef rendang, yam dish, and pea salad. Flavor-wise? Almost everything was incredible. The beef rendang especially was packed with flavor, and every dish felt elevated and intentional. My only reason for knocking off a star is the value. The portions were tiny -- not "small plates" tiny, but more like one-to-two bites each while still being priced aggressively. By the end, I felt more impressed than full. If the portions matched the quality, this would've easily been a 5-star experience. That said, if you care more about exceptional food than portion sizes, this place is worth trying. One of the most memorable meals I've had on the Westside.
