What a wonderful surprise. I live just around the corner from Jamaica Bay Inn, and for whatever reason, it took me far too long to finally have dinner here with family and friends. I wish I'd discovered it sooner. The restaurant overlooks Mother's Beach, and the setting is exactly what you'd hope for: peaceful, relaxed, and quintessential Marina del Rey. You almost expect the view to be the highlight... Then the food shows up. For appetizers, we shared the hummus plate and the calamari. Both were excellent. As someone whose kids were practically raised eating seafood around the ports of New England, calamari is one of those deceptively simple dishes we judge pretty harshly. Beachside absolutely passed the test. I ordered the cheeseburger, which was solid, but the real stars of the evening were the roasted Jidori chicken and the jumbo shrimp fettuccine. The chicken was perfectly juicy, something that sounds easy but surprisingly few restaurants consistently get right. The shrimp fettuccine completely stole the show. In fact, it's now become my daughter's regular takeout order, and she's easily the toughest pasta critic in our family. Congratulations... you've officially earned the title of our favorite pasta spot in the Marina. The service was another highlight. Our server spoke both German and Italian, had a great sense of humor, and made the evening feel warm and effortless. Today, July 4th is my anniversary. We wanted to take advantage of living in Southern California, by getting out in the sun, plus we're going to see a movie close by. First let me say that Nahum, who helped us was excellent. The absolute perfect balance of checking on you but not overdoing it. If it weren't for Nahum, morning sun, and the breeze, I think we would have sent back our plates and left. Really. We didn't tell him there were any issues, because once the decision was made to stay, why ruin his holiday too? lol Ordered coffee. Dreadful. Ok, no big deal. The food came out and I could immediately SEE The Unappetizing . It's special when you can tell that your food is going to be bad before you take one bite. The French toast was Sahara dry, burned and flavorless. The chicken, was competing with it in the dry and flavorless category-- I really can't say which was worse. I don't really use hot sauce and I drowned the tenders in Cholula just to make it halfway edible. Literally we could have waited for the AMC chicken tenders and they would have been better, which is horrifying. Particularly when you try to avoid fried food in general and now you are poisoning your body for no good reason. Husband ordered a steak and eggs, medium well. I'll attach the picture and I'll let you be the judge of whether or not it was cooked properly. Eggs were not good either. Immediately, I gave hubby more than half my plate because he eats All of Everything that's put in front of him. Something would have to get up and walk off his plate for him to not eat it. He was taught not to waste food, period. The exception was steak so that he could take it home, cook it, and then eat it. This was possibly the worst meal I've ever had, and certainly on a special occasion. So many places we could have gone today that would have been a different experience, but it will never happen again. We didn't know we would need reservations for the patio so we had to sit inside.. it was still lovely. My friend and I both got the chorizo breakfast burrito. It did NOT come with the pickled onions which we didn't realize until after we left.... The potato's were tater tots which was disappointing. I dont think any one expects tater tots in their burrito when it says "potato's." It was still good. Te salsa was a little spicy but I loved it. Side of avocado was 1/4 of an avocado. Huge burrito with tiny amount of avocado.. Friend got a mimosa and I got a French 75. Yummy Service was ok. They were busy so we didn't see our server much. Family came in from out of town and wanted to go to brunch. We wanted to go somewhere near the water. Although it was a windy day, the view was great. Mauro is such a terrible server/bartender.I came in with a group of my friends who all know Lance and Mauro appeared to get jealous about him serving us. It made us feel like Mauro was just there to earn money from us. It didn't hel that when the bartender (Micah) arrived and was super friendly, Mauro immediately confronted/reprimanded and was aggressive to him for just trying to help out!! Not only that, but Mauro also cornered my friend as she came out of the bathroom and made her feel very uncomfortable. It is needless to say, but I will not be back and none of out friends will be either. To be clear, we were warned about this server ahead of time and also that management just ignores his inappropriate behavior, but we decided to check it out anyway. Perfect place to have a Sunday brunch. I came here to celebrate my birthday with family and I can't stress enough the quality of service Beachside Restaurant has given us. Their patio dining is very beautiful. I recommend sitting there so you get a full view of the mother's beach and the tropical feel of the property. The staff is wonderful! It's like they're always keeping an eye on tables, so they can swoop in and replenish drinks, replace tableware, or even exchange a word of care. They're always on top of their game with friendly smiles. The food was tasty. I opted for the fish and chips. Honestly, it was good but I felt the plate was a little bare. I suggest adding lemon wedges, an extra side like a slaw or a salad. A little bit more would complete the dish and give it that pop of color and fullness. I loved that the waiter sang me happy birthday and brought out a little dessert with a candle on it. It was very sweet of them to do that and I appreciate it so much! My family of six dined at the Beachside Restaurant located inside the Hilton Marina del Rey, Jamaican Bay hotel in Marina del Rey, California, on August 16, 2026, to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, this was an extremely disappointing experience. Three of our six meals--the chicken schnitzel and two orders of breaded cod--were served burnt and had to be sent back. Although our waiter was apologetic and corrected the problem, no one came back afterward to check on us. My daughter's steak was mediocre, my side dish arrived after I had finished my meal, and the desserts were also disappointing. The service was just as frustrating. Our waiter essentially disappeared after our food was delivered. When we were ready to pay, we waited approximately 20 minutes and eventually had to walk to the host ourselves to settle our $400+ bill. What made this especially disappointing was that it was my birthday. The restaurant knew this--the host even wished me a happy birthday when we were seated--but there was no candle or acknowledgment with my dessert. I was particularly surprised by the quality of both the food and service at a restaurant located inside a Hilton property. I expect a certain level of quality and service from a hotel of this caliber. I understand that mistakes happen, but when multiple meals are burnt, service is inconsistent, and no manager checks on the table after problems occur, it becomes much more than a simple mistake. For a $400+ birthday dinner, we expected a much better experience. Sadly, this was a meal my family and I will not be repeating, and I do not recommend that you even give this place a try. read more

The food here was absolutely delicious. They have outside dining and it has a beautiful view out on the beach. The mimosas a delicious as well. The pricing is a little high but at the end of the day you come out happy that you went there. Just like I did. Service was kind and quick which is exactly how I like it. If you brunch on the patio, it comes with a nice view of the marina beach. The servers are very friendly & enthusiastically helpful...and they'll even let you linger on the patio for the 3:00-4:00pm shutdown portion between brunch & dinner service if you ask nicely! I brought my boyfriend here for his 40th birthday. He is a total foodie. So I was excited to surprise him and take him here. I was super disappointed. When I reviewed the menu online the menu they offered or should I say had listed had a very wide array of different options to choose from. I was really excited to surprise him here. As we entered there was no staff around so we were just standing there for a while and a line began to form, the restaurant was not busy at all, but the bar was almost full. We were seated and our waiter was the most impersonal waiter ever, he never even said his name, to us. It was like he was a robot. Again to see that the menu was not the same was disappointing, yet our appetizer came out super fast and over all the food was bland and nothing special for the price point, yet it did come out hot, which was a plus. I had asked for the server to sing him happy birthday and for a desert to be brought out and I picked out the desert to add to the bill and he said that he could not do that service, yet before leaving 2 other servers were bringing out deserts and singing happy birthday to 2 other tables. The view was pretty, I'm sure this place is beautiful and wonderful for brunch, but for dinner this is not a place to be for elevated dining. Been here a couple times when I'm in the area. Once as a hotel guest and once again off the street. Bartenders are good at what they do and cocktails are great. Wine list is mediocre but there is something for everyone. Food- Burger was tasty, club sandwich pretty disappointing, more like a regular chicken sandwich. Ceviche was tasty and I recommend. Stopped by after seeing it on social media. It's inside the Jamaican Bay Inn. It was easy to go inside. We sat outside to enjoy the beach views but it got a little windy and chilly but the staff was able to bring heaters. I got the salmon $32 and my fiancée got the lemon chicken $32. The salmon was a pretty small size maybe like 3.5-4oz for that much but the red quinoa it came with made up for it because that was delicious! The lemon chicken was cooked to perfection and the broccolini was good too. I got a cappuccino as well which was much needed for the chilly weather. Overall good experience. read more

I eat here every night when I am on business trips and stay at the adjoining hotel. The staff is friendly. The outdoor seating is clutch. Even the locals come to dine here. That's a really good sign. My wife and I decided to take a trip out of town for the Fourth of July and made reservations at Jamaica Bay Inn as we really enjoyed our Valentine's weekend there. The week prior to our Fourth of July stay, we decided to make restaurant reservations online through OpenTable for Fourth of July dinner. Even though they were packed with people, we got to the restaurant early and they seated us within a few minutes. My dog came with us in her stroller and somehow was able to fall asleep while the live music was playing! My wife and I placed our order shortly after sitting down and a few minutes later, the food arrived. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we had breakfast there just before heading home to San Diego and we ended up ordering the same exact items that we ordered the last time that we were there in February (egg scramble and breakfast burrito). I stopped into Beachside Restaurant & Bar while in town to have lunch with my niece, who I hadn't seen in a long time. The relaxed SoCal beach style of the restaurant and bar set the perfect vibe the moment we walked in. We were seated right away and greeted by our waitress, who was fun, welcoming, and had a great smile. I ordered the Salmon Crudo, which was incredibly fresh with a lot of great flavors. My niece had the fish and chips and absolutely loved it. We both enjoyed our dishes, had a comfortable visit, and were well taken care of the entire time. What a lovely place, I can't say enough of the locale, the service, the view adjacent to the Marina beach. The mango margaritas were perfectly presented with a tropical flower. It was a great afternoon for a reunion with my step niece (my late brother's step daughter) I really enjoyed my perfect eggs Benedict (they substituted ham with smoked salmon and a side of capers). Giving this spot 4/5 mostly because there are way cuter beachside options in this area to eat that are actually on the water. This spot sits off the endpoint off a part of the Marina and just isn't picturesque like many of the other options in the area. You can enter thru the hotel or from the backside off the water. I thought that latter part was odd - no gate or anything separates the general public from the restaurant. There's valet and self-parking and the price difference is big, yet valet only offers spots slightly closer to the door than self-parking does, so self-parking was more than fine. You're using the hotel's open lot. When we went for a 5:30pm Saturday reservation, there was plenty of parking. There were 5 of us at the table. For 5 entrees and 8 adult drinks, the tab came to around $95/each with 4 of us splitting the tab for one of our friend's birthdays. The price point is on par with other spots in the area, which is why I would have picked a cuter spot had it been up to me lol. I had the salmon dinner and it was REALLY good! I even ate the skin, which I usually don't do lol. The quinoa was cooked in a way I hadn't had it before ... seared instead of boiled, maybe? It was tasty. Loved the veggies, too. I had 2 diff margs and they were both good and aesthetically pleasing. read more

I will always have a nostalgic fondness for the Jamaica Bay Inn. Out of town family stayed here often when I was a kid. Spent many lovely mornings having breakfast at the hotel "restaurant", which in the days of yore was just a few tables around the pool. I miss the character of the cute motel it once was. Now a charm free, sterile chain hotel, it's still got location in it's winning column. The food is fine. The restaurant is also pretty sterile, service is hit or miss. Small-ish menu, not cheap, but not as expensive as many hotel restaurants. I have been here a few times in recent years and it's always relatively pleasant. The views are the thing, as is the case with many MDR restaurants. read more

Whenever I'm in the Venice / MDR area, I always find myself craving Eggs Benedict for some strange reason. Well, a friend of mine down there highly recommended I try Killer Cafe. I took a Waymo from my buddy's place and, for some odd reason, the Waymo couldn't find the location of the Killer Cafe whatsoever. So I cancelled the ride in the parking lot of Killer Shrimp (I later discovered the cafe is on the opposite side of that large building) and found Beachside as my nearby answer to breakfast. Located inside the Jamaica Bay Inn, Beachside has a New England vibe with a giant patio where I sat to catch some rays. As promised, Eggs Benedict was on the menu so I ordered that along with a Bellini to wash it down. :-) The reason why I removed a star from this review was that it took forever to cash out. I saw the waiter -- who also doubled as the bartender -- seat and cash out a few people but never quite reached me. I found him by walking over to where he was cashing out another customer and basically formed a line. The credit card scanner was broken, so he had to process checks that day with an old-fashioned credit card machine. I haven't seen one of those in decades! So yeah ... the food was good, but the fact they only had one server taking care of the whole restaurant was a bit of a pain. read more

Happened to be looking for breakfast in MDR and this place popped up. An absolutely amazing experience! We went in looking for a casual, but great breakfast place, and this hit perfect! The eggs benedict is probably one of the top three I've ever had in my entire life and I definitely recommend their mimosa flight taster! Comes with fresh pressed strawberry, peach, pineapple, and orange juice for your champagne! We ended up staying all day out on the patio and at the bar watching FIFA World Cup, people watching and enjoying the amazing ambience there. Also had the ceviche and wings for lunch and they were hands-down phenomenal! The bartender and our server were kind, courteous, prompt, and welcomed us fully. We will definitely be back. My girlfriend had wanted to go to MDR for awhile now, so I did some research into some nice spots with good food and outside views, and this place eventually came through, and ended up being a winner! The cocktails were both tasty and refreshing, and the food was excellent! We had the shrimp ceviche for an appetizer; she had the club sandwich with fries and I got the beef short rib with mashed potatoes! To top it off, we enjoyed a deliciously chocolate lava cake. I came here with my dad for Father's Day brunch after the restaurant I visited the day before proved to be an epic fail. When we arrived we were initially told they were not accepting anymore guest. I was so bummed wondering where I was going to take my dad. So grateful that the crushed look on my face gave them a change of heart and they let me and my dad in for brunch. We had a nice seat outside overlooking the boats. My dad and I think alike and both had our taste buds fixed on the Fried Chicken & French toast. No mimosas, we are both Java junkies, so my dad ordered a standard cup of coffee and I had a cappuccino. The food was delicious, an ample amount to take home, and the service was wonderful. I really liked our waiter, I think his name was Edgar, but I can't quite recall. "Edgar" had a big smile. He was funny, thoughtful, and added to the overall great experience. Came here for brunch after being impressed w their dinner service a few years back. I forgot how small and limited the wine list is. The dog-friendly patio has a nice view of the marina. I am obsessed w mezcal, as you know, and the mezcalero was fabulous, a refreshing balance of sweet, tart & smoky. The crab cakes themselves were nicely seasoned, though the side arugula salad was a little basic. The lightly grilled lemon was a nice touch. Though billed as coming w hash browns , the eggs Benedict's accoutrement was definitely giving breakfast potatoes. The "hash browns" were fine, nothing special. From the thick Canadian bacon to the crispy English muffin to the perfectly poached egg, the Benedict itself was far better than I expected. The hollandaise serving was stingy to be sure.
