Went here last night for my boyfriend's birthday and it was perfextion!! The hostess was the best and absolutely kind, thoughtful, and accommodating, huge shout out to her (she was pretty, petite with long black hair. I should have asked her name). She even asked (when my man went up to get his beer) if I wanted the live singer (great duo, so much talent) to sing him a Happy bday song...what a sweetheart. I know it's a small thing but that kind of customer service is so rare these days (and I have been in the customer/client service industry for over 33 years, so I know) that it made the night special. It's the little details. So shout out to her!! The space is wonderful, modern, open, and yet welcoming. Super chill, non pretentious vibe. Out waiter was wonderful, in fact all staff were on top of everything even on su h a busy night. The beers were.phenpmenal, the concept is brilliant, you pay by the ounce and get to try and share them all!! My man said the sushi was perfection, he had the Venice rolls and we shared the edamame and it was so flavorful balanced with the right amount of heat. They even came out with a little slice of cheesecake (lemon and amazing) for his bday which is always a nice touch. And as I mentioned, the singer sang a qui k bday songamd the place clapped. Small and sweet touch with great clientele also.its just nice to feel welcome in such a gorgeous space and fabulous restaurant. There are too many stuck up eateries and restaurants that put on airs and fall so short in both service and cuisine...and this is not one of them!! We will absolutely be back!! Beach & Brew is a brightly lit taproom in Venice Beach with a unique twist: most of the drinks are self-serve. When you sit down, your server will request a credit card which they will link to a wristband. At the back of the main room is a wall of taps with more than 40 beers, ciders, seltzers, kombuchas, and wine. Each features a per ounce price. To dispense your drink of choice simply grab a glass (they even have mini glasses for flights), tap your wristband below the tap, and start pouring. Most of the drinks are local to California and of the many I tried during my visit, there wasn't one I wouldn't pour a full pint of in the future. The also have a full food menu and a list of creative cocktails available for those who want something a little strong. However, during our visit, we stuck to the novelty of the self-pour wall. read more

I ordered a burger here and it came out black and charged. I asked for it to be medium definitely was not. I was on a time restriction so I couldn't wait for it to be remade. They didn't want to comp it. Staff is very nice but the manger didn't seem to care and didn't want to give me my money back. The other food has always been good. I have always loved this place. Everything about it from their fabulous cocktails, service and pretty good food. I dragged a friend in there today after our beach walk and it was anything but. Service was lousy as our server acted like she would rather be anywhere but there. Food was super average and expensive and I am supposed to get a local discount but no one ever asked me if I was local. P. S. I am local. big fan of this spot! the ambiance is awesome - games available, lots of tables, projections of sports games! there's a good amount of street/meter parking nearby. it can get pretty crowded in here on the weekends! drinks are self service taps which are sooo fun! Food was on point. We shared 4 dishes that were all done really well! Charred broccoli - cooked perfectly and had a good spice Crab cake corn dog- def recommend because it's something we've never seen before and had awesome flavor Shrimp & prosciutto flatbread - solid and good portion Grilled Sea Bass - cooked very well and the mix of sauces and veggies underneath were legit. The pricing is up there for the type of spot it is but they definitely delivered on the food. The pour yourself stations is a cool addition to it also and they have connect 4 to play with at your table. The inside of the restaurant is comfy and the style is pretty trendy. The front of the restaurant has windows that open up and you can also sit at a table that's a bench at the open windows. I find the vibe a bit confusing, it's very sit down nice restaurant vibe/prices/menu but then has the serve yourself taps which gives the vibe of a bar you can walk around and move more freely. The two conflict each other here. The unique part of this place is the taps. You get a wristband and hold your wristband up to the tap and pour. It monitors how many ounces you pour and charges accordingly. The tap options though are disappointing. There's a place in El Segundo that has the same concept, Brewport, that has tons of unique options. This place had like coors, models, and truly. Most unique it got was ballast point. The point of the serve yourself is that you can try small ounces of many different unique beers you've never seen before, and that wasn't the case here. Definitely make your way to el Segundo if you're coming for this experience. Food was alright, friend got the Nashville hot fish sandwich and thought it was good. Picture is of the calamari fries, which were disappointing. Other friend got burger which was good. Overall - prices are too high for what they offer. Would be significantly better if there was outdoor seating (although placement wouldn't allow for this) and if the taps had more unique options. read more

Overall, a mediocre experience for okay, overpriced food and beer. Food: Least favorite part of the experience. Ordered nachos for the table, which tasted good but the portions were laughably small. Then for mains we ordered a couple fried chicken sandwiches and a tuna sandwich. This was the worst fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. I love them and this was so disappointing. It was way too citrusy, not that fried, and really missed the mark. The tuna sandwich looked so sad and probably something my grandmother would serve. Don't be fooled by the fancy menu descriptions, these are mediocre at best. The fries were great. Drinks: We all did the pour your own beer option. While a novelty and inherently overpriced, it's fun and you get to try a number of things. We came during "happy hour," which is 20% off. Not much but something I suppose. Decent beer selection. I also didn't realize B+B makes their own beer too so that was a nice surprise. Atmosphere and Service: Best part of the experience. We sat outside and it's a beautiful patio. We thought we might be forgotten back there but our server was thoughtful, prompt, and helpful. I'd be hard pressed to return to this establishment. read more

Won't review the food because I haven't tried much of it yet but my 4 star is for their cool self serve beer taps! They give you a coin, essentially an open tab. You take the coin and tap on which ever drink they have on rotation and serve yourself. Mostly beers but they did have a couple selections of wine from what I recall. I love this spot. It's a HUGE improvement from the beach-grunge, gnarly sushi joint it replaced. It's a welcome sparkle of class in the neighborhood where we're losing local icons and the new arrivals have been disappointing at best...and the management is wholly dedicated to taking care of their customers. Totally! The wine, booze and beer selections are light-years beyond anything else in the neighborhood. The bar staff are friendly, professional and they mix great cocktails. They're still refining their menu, as any new place does, and it gets better every time we go back. Bottom line, the vibe is classy without being pretentious, the bar is the best in the area, the food is great, and the management and staff aim to please. The reviewers who had bad experiences (it happens), probably never gave the management a chance to make it good. We came right when the kitchen was closing so we made a snap decision to try the biscuits and they weren't great. Really dry and the cheese on top was over cooked and was solid. Just what the west side needed. There was a self-pour taproom in El Segundo but it closed down. I like this location, it's near the beach. They have lots of options from beer, cider, seltzer and kombucha. You ask for a wrist band, then you pour your own drinks. You get charged per oz. They have a kitchen with good food. I would have given two stars, but the fact that one beer cost $21.75 dropped it a star. The beer refused to come out of the self service draft without a massive head and was flat with a single exception out of four drafts. If you like over priced sub-par food, over priced flat beer, austere ambiance, and are likely a tourist you'll love this place or are trying to fit in to the ghetto gentrification of what used to be Venice, you'll fit right in. The charred broccoli could have very nice but for the fact it was floating in a bowl tart soup (still baffled by this concoction). The aguachile dish was under seasoned and boring, and the crab cake corn dog was a bit soggy and had something very chewy and undefinable in it. To be frank it was a very disappointing experience and if I hadn't been on a date would have addressed it with management. All said and done it cost $140 (including 20% tip) for three appetizers and less than the equivalent of 3 pints. read more

A few friends and I were there last Friday for the first time. The place is fine..big open room, the beer is cold and food is hot. A little pricey and gimmicky...but it's good to have another full bar in the neighborhood. This review started out with 4 stars, but that all changed because the crew we saw working that night all seemed to have a problem keeping their masks on. We saw server after server take orders from customers with their masks down around their chin while the manager and owner walked through the dining room the same way. Not cool. So yeah I had the Seafood Gumbo, MARY MOTHER OF LITTLE BABY JESUS!! Chef, you are truly a food poet! I don't know how you do it but all the ingredients, consistency, flavors, and aromas seem to rhyme in my mouth. This was the best seafood Gumbo I have ever had! Wait, coming to think of it, I have never had seafood Gumbo before... even when I went galavanting all over New Orleans for a "southern experience." Nevertheless, I could bet my left kidney that this Gumbo could easily win a blue ribbon at some local town fare in Louisiana---it was that delish...and perfectly spiced!! The Shaved Brussels sprout was also so yummy! Next time I want to try the whole grilled Snapper, it looked so good. My friend had some kind of Lobster dish, she was raving about it. Had a delicious dinner here tonight- very cute upscale restaurant but still casual enough for the kids. My husband had so much fun at the beer taps- they have beer, wine, cider and hard kombucha all the by ounce. You can get full pours, flights, etc. Everything is charged to your bill via a wristband - small samples could be $0.50 or a full pour was $10+. No nonalcoholic options on the menu but they also have wine and craft cocktails. We started with the cheddar biscuits which were $12 for 2- delicious and amazing honey butter but I would have preferred them to be slightly smaller and got more of them. No kids menu but my toddler scarfed down the margarita flatbread. I had the spicy tuna bowl- half rice and half mixed greens. One sour note was that the kale in the salad still had huge stems on it that I had to pick out. My sister got the jambalaya which was big. My mom got the apple flatbread and my husband got the chicken sandwich. Everyone was happy with their meals and for $166 for 5 people, it seemed very reasonable for LA. read more

Several things wrong on our visit today unfortunately. But a $20 breakfast burrito? It should be 2x the size that was served. We split thinking for $20 it'll be pretty big. There's not even meat in it so I don't get the price. Eggs, cheese, black beans, potato, and avocado with salsas on the side. Came here for the soft opening and WOW!! The staff was super kind and incredibly helpful, including the owner who was making her rounds and making sure everyone was happy! I loved this place, and would love to go back again!
