Our hair held up so nicely throughout the entire beach wedding and the reception. Julie was so kind, professional, and welcoming. She listened and took time to create the look that we each wanted. She put us at ease and alleviated much of our stress. I highly recommend Julie at Wavelengths!

When I got there, her mom (she works in the business end of things) offered me water and/or wine! Never had that before at a salon and was a nice touch. Julie was very thorough in completing my perm. Even when she missed two hairs (exactly two; I'm not exaggerating) by my face, she redid the roller! She was super considerate of me when I told her that my neck tends to be pretty strained when I'm in the sink. She changed little things that went a long way, like applying the neutralizer with me sitting up instead of in the sink like she normally would, so I didn't have to be there longer than necessary. She was also quite patient! When the perm was setting, she started to grab a quick bite of lunch in the back and was not upset in the slightest when I came over to say that one of the rollers had popped apart; she just came on out and fixed it happily! I would have been disappointed like "man I just sat down!" I got a bit of a cut after the perm also, and she did great with that. She sent me away with a written note for my next stylist about what she did today, because I'd struggled in the beginning to communicate which rollers I'd had in the past/how curly I'd gone before, things like that. So she not only did a great job on this today but also made it easier for me for future visits to stylists. In many ways she just went the extra mile. Additionally, it felt like a community experience because the hairdresser beside her chatted with me as well as her client. It was a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere for sure! Overall I'm quite satisfied. If I'm ever dying to change my hair again while I'm visiting the OBX, I know where I will go! She told me they do weddings too, by the way!

They have a front lobby area where they greet you a secure door to buzz you in from the street makes you feel safe and they bring you back to a lounge area before you are seen. It was really cool to see that. They do have a like a monthly plan that you can choose from having a facial to having your eyebrows tinted and laminated to also having a lash lift. I'm pretty interested in that haven't gone through with it yet because been having some health issues but I'm hoping that in a few months I can start being a regular here.

The feeling here is such high class and really feels like a nice & serene spa. I love shopping in the front/reception area (their cards are hilarious!) and waiting in the waiting room is so luxurious. The chairs are so cozy and the beautiful decor is always fun! I've seen a couple waxers who no longer work here (due to moving or raising a baby- hope you two girls are doing great, if you ever see this!), and I now see Starla. She's so efficient & does a beautiful Brazilian to the forestry that I grow. She has such great conversation and I thoroughly enjoy seeing her every so often! I also get my upper legs waxed every so often, and she does a great job on those, too! A total comfort to be on her waxing table (I mean, the wax sometimes hurts, since I'm not consistent, but I never shave, so you know that helps). If you're looking for a place to feel comfortable & handle the fuzz/forest, look no further than this fine woman-owned & operated small/local business.

Terrible service. It was a busy day but there were no straws available to customers at the fountain…read moredrink area when customers complained numerous times that there weren't any straws in the straw dispenser at that fountain drink area. The wings that my family ordered were very small and lacked meat. We also ordered french fries and the food basket of fries that they served us was barely full, it honestly looked like half of the amount of fries were eaten before they served it to us. Another thing to add-- my loved one who was playing the coin pusher won two cards, but got jammed in the conveyor belt of the coin pusher game, so she wasn't able to recieve the cards she won. I kindly asked the employees in the front with the prizes and cash register if they could open this machine so my sister can get the first two cards she won. They never came to open the machine so I went over again to show a video of her winning another card so they can open the machine in order for my sister to rightfully earn what she won. The employees asked me which card she won so I told them the specific card she won and gave me a card from behind their counter (and it wasn't even the correct character). They gave me a card to "compensate for the inconvenience", but I specifically asked them to open the machine so my sister can get the cards that she won and for future players (so others won't play a jammed game). It wasn't until another lady who had to go up to the to the front counter numerous times to tell them about the jammed machine did they open the machine to give us our cards. This store had a jammed game and the solution to it was simply opening a glass door and grabbing cards from a space where they were stuck (very easy to pull these cards out my sister described). The employee did not even have to use any special tools or go down on their knees to fix this jammed game. I find frustration in this because it took multiple complaints for the employees to actually take action, when the task at hand was very simple. It shows that employees do not care for individual customers and are only there to open and close the store or to just "get by", which is a very lazy approach to any kind of service. As someone who doesn't find many problems in customer service and have grace for people who work in these fields, found the service here quite unpleasant and frustrating.

We took my granddaughter to Chuck E Cheese or her birthday ... I was concerned that it would be…read moresuper packed since it was the weekend. But my daughter got there early and we were able to get 3 tables and it was decent. It wasn't too many people at 12:30, but it did start to get packed later in the day. So early is probably best... We got a package with 3 large pizzas, drinks, and 100 points for games. The pizzas were thin and they tasted good while they were hot. After they cool down I wouldn't recommend it, then it tastes like cardboard. They cut them into smaller pieces to get more out of it, which worked out. I ordered fries for about $4 and the cashier warned me that it was 8oz, which I didn't know what to expect. Well, it was about 15 fries scattered on a plate. Lol. I see why she warned me. They should have saved the plate and just put them in my hand. They come with ketchup and ranch. They were bland because they didn't add any salt. If they had salt they may have been better. The drinks are unlimited which is nice. They had pizza, wings, dipping dots, a salad bar, and a few other things. The pizzas were a little bit expensive for what they tasted like. The salad bar is about $12 for unlimited salad. I wanted it but it was iceberg lettuce which looked unappealing and with all those kids running around sneezing , coughing, breathing by the salad bar, I just couldn't... Everything is pretty much how I remember it as a kids. Chuck E. has an updated look to. My granddaughter wasn't having it when he came to take pics with her. Lol. She was scared. I won't lie, I used to be afraid also. I didn't understand that it was a person in there. To this day, I'm still not letting him touch me .... Lol. The games are 1 point each which I appreciate. You can play games by the minute or get points. It definitely makes more sense to do the points which you can use as you please. The by the minute runs out to fast unfortunately. There were games for all ages. The photo booth was our favorite. It gives quality pictures that are very clear... Skip JCPenney and come here for your family photo. Lol. The place was clean. Now the bathroom was somewhat clean. The toilet seats were nasty. I almost tossed my cookies when I seen the dried poop and pee. People are letting their little ones sit on these toilet seats because their squat game isn't good yet. But omg ewww. No. Toilet seat covers are necessary. The toilet flushes automatically and it may scare little kids. The child in there peed all over the floor and her clothes because she didn't expect the loud whoosh noise while she was going. Poor baby!! Her mom was pissed but it wasn't her fault. Chuck E Cheese is definitely the place to go for younger kids. It's easy, it felt safe, and the kids have a blast. The food isn't the greatest but it'll do. My granddaughter enjoyed herself so that's all that matters!! Check them out!!!

I love packing my bags for adventures, especially at a discount. I met "travel dude" at the DC…read moreConvention Center where he had a booth advertising low cost trips. The independent agent who isn't an employee of Gold Key, promised tickets to Busch Gardens, gifts cards for meals and a two bedroom stay at the beach. He went on and on about how we would have a kitchen in our room but we wouldn't really want to take the time to cook due to all the wonderful restaurants we could visit using our gift cards. We checked into the hotel to learn there wasn't a refrigerator (let alone a kitchen). Cue in concerned hubby who has schlepped a full luggage cart to a room and the wife waiting in the lobby, whose pain patch has worn off. Gold Key and the hotel had a conversation. We ended up in a nicer room than expected because I am the best advocate for customer service on the planet and the hotel staff "got it." Gold Key came through for us and that helped ease the dishonesty by "travel dude," who is basically anonymous and faceless after you buy your discounted trip. We visited Busch Gardens, but only because we bought tickets ourselves and NOT because "travel dude" kept his word. I don't blame Gold Key for one person's lack of credibility but I can't imagine I am the only person he conned. We had invited family to join us for this visit. Thank goodness it didn't work out for anyone else. Our interest in the resort tour was to explore options for saving while traveling. The tour was given by a nice representative. I felt a bit overwhelmed by all the figures and data thrown at us but any questions we had were answered. We toured a really decent one bedroom condo style set up in one of the hotels owned by Gold Key. The suite overlooked the beach and even had an option of being two bedrooms with an adjoining door. The room(s) were up-to-date and nicely decorated. The hotel was decent and just yards from the beach. I think Gold Key is good for people who have more money than time and like having their trips pre-packaged and decided for them. My consulting gigs are sometimes last minute and not always local. I can't always keep my ducks in a row for a lunch date, let alone a week's travel plans. Gold Key allows you to change your plans for a fee. I would rather go out to dinner than pay a fee to change my plans. I also don't have interest in paying maintenance fees for a shared unit, condo or hotel suite. If a certain number of people are owning weeks at the same room number, I don't understand why the maintenance fees couldn't be divided up (this is a rhetorical question). Gold Key has locations all over the city, state and world. There are many wonderful adventures at beautiful resorts, hotels and Gold Key destinations. If you don't have time to plan your trips and you don't mind monthly fees, this type of arrangement may work for you. My plans can change in two weeks. Scheduling a prime location a year in advance would be a challenge for us. The person who should pay for the extra charges with our hotel stay is "travel dude" and not Gold Key.

We actually arrived 30 minutes early just because we could and were seated fairly quickly. The water in my tub was much too warm and I told the girl to make it cooler. I'm not sure if she didn't understand, but it didn't get cooler, so I asked again. It STILL didn't get cooler. Ugh. We sat in chairs at 4:04 and we were out of there by 4:42. While the polish looks fine and it was generally an overall "fine" experience, it just didn't stand out to me and we expected the massage parts to take longer. She didn't even massage my feet. The massage chair was my least favorite part; felt like I was riding a roller coaster or something. The control panel was whacked! I think the cleanliness of the salon is lacking as well. There were hair particles on the chairs and on the counter when I went to pay. Yuck. I've already got a dedicated nail place in VB, so I'll stick with that one.

I stayed with Davina at Devinn Nail Bar for nearly two years because it was convenient to my house and they could do the simple nail art I liked. Looking back, that was a huge mistake. They butchered my nails. Every single appointment was painful. I repeatedly told them they were hurting me while filing, and every time I was told to "relax." I trusted that maybe this was normal because they were the professionals. It wasn't. I finally went to a new salon, and the nail technician was shocked when she examined my nails. She told me this was one of the worst over-filed sets she had seen in her career. The techs at Devinn nail bar had not only over-filed my nails every time, but had filed deep grooves into my natural nail plates. Every fill left visible gouges in my actual nails. Because of the damage, my nails are now lifting from the nail bed. I've been told I need to remove my nails completely and take a long break to give them the best chance to heal. Recovery is expected to take many months, and there is no guarantee they'll return to normal. This is on top of being treated rudely, long wait times, constantly increasing prices, being confronted by management over my honest review, and being treated differently after I expressed concerns. I regret staying as long as I did. If I had known the long-term damage being done every time I sat in that chair, I would have left a long time ago!
