The warm beer "cooler" for to-go by the can
Ethan C.

Man, this new location feels so vastly different from the OG Monterey St location, and unfortunately not in a great way. We came to CCB for years living in SLO, and try to make it a point to visit when we are in town. This was our first time visiting the new location at the Hub. I'll start on the positive stuff: - Way more parking than before - Huge outdoor space compared to the OG location. - Appeared to have more food options - There is an RC Rock Crawler course, which is pretty rad for those that are into it. - Bathrooms are clean (and within the same building now haha) - P-Nut Butter Breakdown is still as good as I remember. - The old bottles lining the bar brought back good memories of the OG location What I'm bummed about: - Feels like a man cave meets dive bar, but it's so bright it loses the vibe and almost makes it look junky. - Service is OK. Bartender seemed more interested in chatting with the regulars or friends than helping us get a few more beers. - Beer selection is basically the same it was 5 years ago, with only one new beer available. I was hoping for something new, or at least one of the less-often brewed beers like Moonbuggy. - Beer quality seems to have dropped, most beers I know well and drank a ton over the years we lived there seemed less flavorful and bright as I remember them being. What I was truly surprised by: - A "cooler" full of beer to go, that was not refrigerated. What brewery takes all that time to brew a beer they are proud of, only to store it warm for to-go sales? Yes, you could get refrigerated beers as well, but why bother leaving a bunch warm? Sad that those cans will not represent their vision and effort properly. While I understand things change, I was hopeful to have an experience like I had for many years at the OG Monterey Street location, and this just didn't bring it for me. Some beers are still decent, the space is huge, and the parking is plentiful, so there's still some positives here. Not sure we'll give them another go next time we are in town, but maybe the Higuera St location will be the one for us next time.

Yes! Great service. The beertenders were friendly ams quick to serve or even samples. E really enjoyed the Juice box hero and It's a secret. Great stuff.

It's a tough world to live with ; Ben, the bar tender, will make everything right !

Food trucks ! Seemingly largest selection of beer ! Choice of wine ! Lots of seating ! Pool tables , pinball machines ! Simulated Golf ! Well worth your time or your group ! Indoor and outdoor areas !

Came here at around 4pm on a Thursday and was able to order at the bar right away. Not that many people there. Got a Head over Peels and a Monterrey Street. Both were good. They have indoor seating with board games available and billiards and also seating outside with corn hole.

Man o man. Beer either cures your pains or covers your pain anyway, feeling better. Had some features and some staples. Grabbed a few tenders too to hold me steady till the next stop. Food came quick. Place is clean. Beer-tender was nice and attentive. On to the next.

I didn't plan on visiting this brewery but after trying few of their beers it was a must. I didn't get to try the food but it looked good. The flight was perfect cause of all the options. The Juicebox is my favorite. I bought a whole bunch of beers to go to take home. I wish I would have bought some merch.

Stopped in for a sampler flight and had a really good experience. We enjoyed the outdoor seating in the converted parking lot. We tried the following: Power Hour German pils (great) Chai chai spiced blonde (great) Monterey Street pale ale (great) Cervantez amber (excellent) P-Nut Butter Breakdown Stout (very good)

There are carvings and decorative items all about. Cozy and warm. Historically, there are stories about the various objects and mounted animals. Their menu features a scavenger hunt, which we unsuccessfully tried. The menu is a masterpiece of everything. there is a grazing menu, sandwiches, entrees, a forage menu of basic veggie presentations, and a bar with quite a few very cleaver offerings. Absolutely fascinating interior. Go inside to take it in. You will be struck amazed. Wife and I came in for dinner and were not disappointed. We felt the warmth. Specialty cocktails, draft beer, bottled beer lounge draft 16oz beers and wine by the glass. They also have some fancy custom non-alcohol cocktails. Everyone should be happy. Service was "on" but fulfillment was "off". Wait staff hustled but had to wait for bar and kitchen to come through faster. I don't usually order specialty/fancy cocktails, but was intrigued with a Feral Martini ($17). Got it and found it to be lacking flavor or anything special. It was watery and disappointing. Was surprised when I shared my feelings with our server Camille O. who took it back, credited it from our bill and brought me a replacement of my choice. Way to go! Had a Manhattan ($12) and wife had a red blend wine ($13.50). Now or our meals. Funny that we both has short rib entrees. Wife did the Taco 'bout Delicious ($21), which was short ribs with oaxaca cheese, cilantro, and a dip of house-made consomme. Like a French dip, but different. She dipped and liked it all. My selection of Braise The Bar ($29) was short ribs surmounting a mound of sage-mashed potatoes dosed with pickled onions, blistered shishito peppers (a favorite of mine) and fresh cilantro. An explosion in my mouth and truly yummy. Nothing served here is usual. Some very cleaver people spent a lot of creative energy to architect entrees, cocktails and the rest of the menu so as to be uniquely delicious. My Yelp! profile does not contain many 5-star ratings but now has this one for Feral. Give it a try and this would be a great first date of small group venture.

Both got dishes featuring short ribs, him the mac and cheese, me the entree with mashed potatoes. Pros 1. The pre-dinner cocktails were tasty. 2. The servers were very nice. Cons 1. Wanted wine with dinner. In the middle of California wine country they had only a handful of supermarket-quality wines. 2. The short run was dry and not very flavorful in both dishes. 3. The starches on both plates were not well-prepred. The mac and cheese was SO dry and the mashed potatoes were cold and lacked seasoning. 4. The starter or appetizer selection is quite limited. This wasn't a good meal, and it wasn't a cheap one, either. We won't be back.

Service here was excellent, we were checked up on enough and our server gave great recommendations. Thanks to our server Talia D! We sat in a cute garden area with vines, plants, and fairy lights, very cozy like you're in a friend's well-decorated patio. They also gave us complementary bread before we received our meal, and a lot of the dishes were unique and plated well. I would come back if I'm ever in the area and would recommend this place to all my friends! All ratings below are averaged (from me and my bf): salmon bisque // 9.25 // very yummy and unique. my bf didn't think he'd like it -- he usually dislikes seafood -- but it was great!! creamy, clear salmon taste but no unpleasant fishy/ocean taste that a lot of seafood has. i've never had this anywhere else, props to the chef! thai green curry // 8.5 // my bf says it's a 9. it's good but i feel like it was not my fave, it's lowkey your good, standard green curry that you can get at any thai place duck breast (curry) // 8.75 // very delicious and unique, i'd rate the curry, rice, and duck breast as 9/10, the duck breast itself was a 10/10. the curry was creamy, and they were all delicious and fragrant, pairing well together. however, the mushrooms, carrots, and other veggies it came with are too sweet. they seem like they're glazed with a sauce that has too much sugar. the black rice was surprisingly very filling strawberry matcha trifle // 8 // yummy, nothing majorly wrong with it. reminds me of a strawberry matcha latte. matcha whipped cream was a nice, unique touch i haven't really seen elsewhere despite it not sounding difficult to make. i'd order it again but i feel like it's on the sweeter side, so you can't eat too much of it.

Perfect weather for wearing a light sweater, enjoying a glass of wine, and having a nice evening with your people. The staff is very attentive and on top of making sure you have what you need. Food: started off with the brussel sprouts and man, those were so so good. Brussel sprouts, goat cheese, pancetta, etc. you get what I'm saying. Flash fried perfectly. We had the salmon bisque and Soup De Novo, which was a vegetable curry soup. These both could have essentially been meals. The salmon bisque was absolutely loaded with salmon. From what I heard about it, it tasted amazing. (I don't eat salmon). The vegetable curry soup was very flavorful and blended smoothly. If you ordered rice on the side, it would have been just like an entire meal. Tikki Masala Chicken - man, that airline chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender, great flavor, no a single thing wrong with it. The rice and vegetables were fantastic, especially the carrots. I don't know why they seemed extra good, but they were. 2 orders of the Ribeye. Once cooked medium and mine, cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, when mine came out, I immediately could tell that it was nowhere near cooked right. It was actually well done. When the waiter came back, I said "I'm sorry to have to do this..." and before I could finish he said "oh yea, that's definitely not medium rare, let me have the kitchen refire that for you". I dislike sending food back, but when you're spending $58 on a ribeye dinner, it HAS to be correct. (Note- the manager remedied the issue quick..came to the table, offered soup, bread, etc, which I had already eaten soup, so he comped 50% off the steak. Nice gesture!) The rest of the vegetables paired with the ribeye were very good. If someone told you the white bean puree was mashed potatoes, most people would believe it. Very creamy and delicious. The Italian salsa verde on top was also very fulfilling. Overall the dinner was very good.

Despite this, I was told I could not enter because the establishment downstairs had previously had "an incident" with a different service animal. Denying access based on a past experience with another dog is not lawful. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, service animals may only be excluded if that specific animal is out of control or not housebroken--neither of which applied here. My dog was behaving impeccably and performing their trained tasks. Loudness, past incidents, or personal assumptions are not valid reasons to refuse a service animal. This was not a misunderstanding--it was a refusal of access based on disability. I hope management educates their staff on ADA compliance so future disabled patrons are not treated this way. I will not be spending my money here and urge others to do the same based on their discriminatory behavior.
