Even though my rating for their spot in Costa Mesa doesn't necessarily reflect it, of all of the…read moremany places we've discovered so far across our adventures around OC, Heybings is definitely one of my favorites. It may be a little bold to say, as we have eaten so many tasty things thus far, but it's in no small part because I've yet to find a bingsoo spot as good as them in the Bay Area! Not to mention the fact that the warm weather down gives me that much more of a reason (read: excuse) to keep coming back! Compared to the one in Costa Mesa, this Heybings is seems to be a bit smaller and the parking situation here isn't quite as easy (the parking lot has a lower level, but it can still fill up during peak hours). However, for whatever reason, this one feels a bit warmer and brighter (and just as cozy). As for the menu, it has all of the same delicious treats to offer - a terrific collection of their signature bingsoo flavors, including both their classic and seasonal offerings, mochi and liege waffles, coffees, and specialty lattes and drinks. The one thing I don't recall seeing listed that I remember from before is matcha, but I can't say I was looking for it either. -- MELON LIME BREEZE - Honeydew Base, Fresh Melons, Lime Zest, Condensed Milk, and Vanilla Ice Cream This is one of their specialty flavors that they rotate in, but they need to make this one of their regulars because it is SO GOOD! Between the melon base and fruit, plus the lime zest, this tasted so refreshing. Plus, I LOVED the creaminess from the vanilla ice cream. DELICIOUS! -- MANGO PARADISE - Milk Base, Housemade Mango Puree, Fresh Mango, Coconut Flakes, Condensed Milk, and Vanilla Ice Cream Not as amazing as the Melon Lime Breeze, but no less delicious. The taste of mango in this was really strong and, combined with the vanilla ice cream, condensed milk, and coconut flakes, kind of reminded me of Mango Sticky Rice (without the rice). -- MATCHA STRAWBERRY - Matcha Base, Housemade Strawberry Puree, Fresh Strawberries, Condensed Milk, and Matcha Ice Cream You could argue this is a little "basic", but there's a reason why this is a classic sort of combination. The Strawberries and the puree weren't overly sweet and balanced nicely with the taste of the matcha (flavorful with just a slight bit of that earthy flavor). Beyond the bingsoo, the other awesome thing about this place has been the service. While I do think it's a little better at their location in Costa Mesa, the workers have always been friendly and get orders out fairly quickly. Really, the only "knock" is that they don't come around to clear off tales as fast, which can be problematic when seating gets scarce (mostly at nights and on weekends). Of course, it would be nice if customers bussed their own trays/dishes when they're done and brought it to the little window/shelf at the back, but that's not exactly something that can be (nor should be) relied on either. Considering how much I've enjoyed our visits to this location just as much as their spot in Costa Mesa and how I rounded that down from the same FOUR AND A HALF STARS, it seems only fair that I round up for this one. Although, truth be told, I love Heybings so much, I will take them however I can have them, regardless of whichever of their locations I need to go to!

Ordered the Large Mango Paradise ($14.50), Single Strawberry Delight ($8.50), and Single Black Sesame ($8.75). All three were super refreshing and came with a generous amount of toppings. I honestly couldn't pick a favorite because they were all delicious, especially on a warm summer afternoon. The bingsu was light, refreshing, and perfect for sharing. Disposable paper cups and utensils are available by the register for self-service, which is convenient if you're sharing your bingsu. There is parking directly in front of the restaurant shared with the other businesses but it does tend to fill up. Underground parking is also available and is shaded. Overall, another great Heybings experience!

The…read moreplace is filled with adorable little details and toys, which makes it feel more like a fun hangout than just a dessert shop. We tried the mango sago dessert and the double skin milk with fresh fruit--both were super fresh, not overly sweet, and had that comforting homemade texture. The mango was ripe and fragrant, and the milk pudding was silky and smooth. Drinks were also a nice surprise, especially the creamy ones like avocado milk. Rich but still easy to drink, not heavy or artificial tasting. Service was friendly and patient, even when it got a bit busy. Everything came out quickly and nicely presented. Overall, a great spot if you're craving traditional-style Chinese desserts with a modern, cute twist. Perfect for a casual sweet treat or a chill afternoon stop.

Counter service and kiosk ordering is available. Heard mixed things from friends who come here often (quality can be hit or miss), so keeping expectations in check. But this dessert was solid: pandan jelly, mango, and sticky rice all had a really nice chew to them, and the coconut milk on top kept everything light instead of heavy. Not overly sweet at all, which made it perfect after a meal nearby. Will be back to see if the rest of the menu holds up the same way.

This week were herbal tea samples! :))) Meet Fresh is a Twainese dessert chain focus on shaved ice with red bean soup desserts and boba. I stopped to try their matcha dessert along with a Hong Kong egg waffle, and both really hit the spot. The matcha latte was not overly sweet, with that slightly bitter, earthy taste you want from good matcha. That said, the Thai Ice tea is good but desserts feel a bit watered down compared to what I remembered. The base prices seem reasonable at first, but once you start adding toppings or upgrades, the total climbs quickly and can be a little shocking at checkout. The HK matcha egg waffle was fresh, warm, and had that perfect contrast: crispy on the outside and soft and airy on the inside. It's a simple item, but when done right like this, it's super satisfying. Honestly, it pairs really well with the matcha desserts. There a several tables to enjoy your teas.

Came here the other day to catch up with a friend and we both really enjoyed it. This spot is located inside an Asian market next to a dumpling place, and they had so many different desserts to choose from that I honestly couldn't decide I ended up playing it safe and got the bubble waffle with red bean filling. The waffle itself was really good.. crispy on the outside and soft inside. I just wish the red bean filling was a little more smooth and pasty instead of having whole beans, but it still tasted really good either way. My friend also got one of their pudding-style desserts and we both loved it because it wasn't overly sweet at all. Perfect balance of sweetness and super refreshing after eating. Definitely planning to come back to try more of their desserts because everything looked so good. Thank you for the yummy sweets ... you've officially gained a forever customer
