On a positive note, the staff, activities at the pool, the beach were all great. The spaciousness of the condo that we rented was just right for our family. We knew that it was not a luxury resort from the start, and the space in the 4 bedroom condo was perfect, although a bit dated and not sparkling clean, but it's the beach. However my problem is with the management for a few reasons. The first night there, my husband and I stayed in a studio while we waited for our grown kids to arrive the next day. It was horrendous. The smoke detector was ripped off the wall so we were on the 17th floor with no smoke detector. We discovered this when we got back from dinnoer around 11:00 and too tired to ask to haul our stuff back down on the laborious elevator system. Pillows like the boulders the Flintstones used for pillows and sheets so thin and worn that most college -dorm living kids would have thrown them in the trash. My biggest problem was the not-to-code, no smoke detector. I told the desk first thing in the morning about it and that I wanted some sort of compensation for paying 189.00 for such a crummy room and was assured they would be calling me. Nothing, even when I asked them again. Then on a more serious note, our grandson, in another 2 bed condo, (we rented a 4 bed and a 2 bed) was plugging in his charger and got a big electrical shock because a prong was broken off and stuck in the socket!!! it was from either another guest or a housekeeper who may have yanked the vaccuum cord, rather than reach down to pull it out. This could have been very serious. My daughter reported it and they filled out an accident report. No phone call from management. No follow up. When I expressed my incredulity at check out that no one would follow up on something as serious as a child gettig a jolting shock, I was assured by the very nice lady at the desk that Darby the GM would call me that day. She did comp some drinks off of our remaining bill (about $20.00) which was very nice of her, but to just blatantly show your customers that you don't care is what I can not understand in the "hospitality" industry. The age of the building and the sheer magnitude of trying to run this place is probably daunting for the management, and we did have a lovely time with our family, but there are way better places. We just thought we would try something new, and were lured by the fact we could get a 4 bedroom and a 2 bed in the same location,. (4 bedrooms are hard to come by). It was not inexpensive, either. It was about almost $3000.00 for both condos for 4 nights. There will be no second visit here. read more

Nice room granite counters and big flat screens in the living room and bedrooms. We were in 1216. This was a last minute book do to we drove 10 hours and the place we booked at had bedbugs. Beach colony got us a room very friendly. The downside is parking garage we have to fight for a spot on the first level due to our truck being over 6ft 2in. Found 2 (dead) cockroaches but no other bugs. All and all we are happy. Beautiful views and other than the roach issue the room was very clean. read more

Our stay at this hotel was scarce. The worker at the desk was extremely rude. The parking deck is very compact, and we found our dishes in our room dirty, and even a ROACH INSIDE!! It was tiny, so not that big of a deal. We had read a review about bed bugs, and searched the beds before it was time for the kids to sleep. Then my daughter and step son discovered a ROACH AGAIN! But this time it was the size of a fun sized snickers bar. None of my children were able to sleep. I didn't read the reviews for this hotel till after booking it... I'm sad about how our stay turned out, but even more upset that this hotel is not being very well taken care of. read more

We stayed here from May 11th to the 14th and we had an amazing time. We arrived around 12:30p and the staff set us up with parking and said they would call us when our room was ready. Unfortunately, one of the children that we were traveling with had gotten very car sick and was still not feeling good. Around 2pm my husband explained to the staff what was going on and they immediately got us a room. We were very happy with our room (two bedroom condo). We had 4 kids ranging from 12 to 5 years old and they had a blast running from pool to pool and then to the beach and back again. For the price, it was totally worth it. I would definitely bring my family back here to stay. On a side note, there were some very concerning looking jelly fish all over the beach, but that is obviously not the hotel's problem. read more

Absolutely the worst hotel we have been to. Stay away from it as far as you can. We have experienced nothing but trouble the whole week we were there. Starting from day one the whole family had to switch all 3 rooms. We had mold in the bathrooms, broken glass, rust in the fridge, holes in bed comforters. Not to mention no housekeeping... We had to call the front desk everyday to have someone bring clean towels. Day 2 our room cards stopped working and my in laws were apparently checked out from the hotel so another issue that had to be resolved. Cousin went to get a sandwich from downstairs restaurant and got raw chicken in it. They also charged the money to a wrong credit card despite telling them which one to use and it took a whole week to reverse. On top of everything the elevator stopped working. Hotel really needs a solid management and housekeeping that cares! So.... Save yourself time and money and don't even bother staying here ! read more

What a dump,,,,I wish I could give it a -5 stars,,room 507 was original and never updated. The cabinet doors were falling off, the mirror in the bathroom had the mirror film coming off, the refrigerator was so old it was rusted through the door, the TV didn't work, people smoked on the balcony, the DJ by the pool was so loud you could hear it on the beach, kids ran the property all night, every time we stay we get an extra charge, this time we got charged an extra $150 for smoking in the room and we don't even smoke, the time before this we got charged extra $35 for running the Visa card as credit. Not all the rooms are the same, they are privately owned and some are nicely updated but others are dumps, so beware the pictures are misleading. You will only get maid service once a week so save your towels. Take ear plugs you will need them to sleep. We are still fighting the $150 fake charge. read more

If I could give less than zero I would. Let me start from the check in process. It took over two hours to get our room even though we reserved it two months prior. Our room was dirty . Found hair ball on the kitchen counter and a bra in the kitchen sink cabinet. Housekeeping is non existent. Couldn't get towels to shower. THEY WERE OUT OF TOWELS! No pool towers either. Breakfast was a nightmare. Not enough food and always one person to take care of tables etc. Elevators were slow and dirty. Once in elevators were hot and sounded like a tarmac at JFK. This visit was the second time we have stayed at Beach Colony. The suite we stayed in was clean and had all the necessary ammenities. We had a balcony room that looked out to the ocean. It was beautiful. The beds were comfortable and we had a tv with cable and a dvd player. Perfect for relaxing after a long day on the beach. The pools and lazy river were clean and our kids loved it. You are just steps away from the beach. They have an outdoor shower area to rinse off the sand after your beach time and a sink to clean off your seashells. It was a nice touch. Ok for the cons to this place: the elevator can take forever to get to you. This place is a 22 floor hotel. They have 4 elevators but the floors they reach are different. So if you are on floors 12 - 22 you can only use the white elevators and if you are staying on the other floors you can only use the other 2 elevators. So during peak time you can wait for 10 minutes for an elevator only to have it finally open and it be completely full. Is this a deal breaker? No way. Mind you, it isn't always a long wait, just during peak times it can be. Also, we ate lunch at the hotel restaurant. It was horrible. Seriously. I would never ever eat there again. The food was over priced and poor quality. I think they make most of there money off of alcoholic drinks. I couldn't tell you the quality of those drinks as I didn't have any. So none of the cons i listed will keep me and my family from going back. We love the location on the beach and the overall feel of the place. read more

Beach Colony Resort is the WORST place to stay!! Do not stay!! The check in is AWFUL! Some people do not get a room until 7:30 p.m. or later. Only one parking pass per room. The condition of the room is HORRIBLE dirty stove, dirty microwave, the couch was broken, the mattress need replaced. The pillows were flat as can be. The maids do not clean your room at all in stay of 5 nights, only takes the trash that is it. The floor was black making us wear our shoes. The staff is rude. There is no bathroom outside by pool. No pool towels either. The breakfast is over priced it is just cereal and fruit for 12.95!! There are a lot of bugs everywhere. Sharkbites is closed! No gift shop. Go to the Dudes Resort they have lot more to offer even a place that sales Starbucks and happy hour and crafts for the kids. read more

Had a 3 swimming pools a lazy river and two hot tubs and of course the beach. One bad thing about the hotel was it was not very clean. There were stains on some sets of sheets that made me itchy . The trip was fun but when it was time to go to the hotel and go to sleep I was not excited. Overall it was a cool stay. We went Labor Day and only stayed one night. We were on the 7th floor, I think room 706 or 716. It overlooked the round-about as you came in to park. We had to lean over to get a glimpse of the beach. No real problem as we just needed somewhere clean to lay our head. We had a room with one king in one room with the patio connected and the other room, just 2 queen beds. Very clean room and clean bathrooms. I enjoyed my stay. It wouldn't be my first choice, the rest of our family was at Compass Cove, but for the last minute decision, it was cool. I would come back. When we walked the beach it was easy to look back and spot our hotel it was the big pink one! That is good because after a while, all hotels start to look alike to me, sorta. read more

Ladies annual weekend .... Stayied there 3 years ago and it was awesome....we so looked forward to going back , as the previous years hotels weren't up to par.... BIGGEST mistake ever !!! We were switched rooms when I first one proved to be nasty...dirty dishes (all they do is rinse them in the dishwasher and put them back) the bathroom mirror had NOT been clean (so bad it couldn't have just been a crappy job) there were hairs in the tub and on the sheets. There was gum on the cabinet and sauce of some sort on another. There was yellow sticky stuff on the coffee table, and the pull out couch mattress was filthy. Moved us to another room and it was only a smidge cleaner. that one the tub was dirty, the floor hadn't been cleaned, hair on the vanity. The bed in one of the rooms was broken to were it was remarkably uncomfortable to sleep on. There was a hole in the floor between the couch and the bar that was unsafe. There was 8 of us ladies and when we asked for clean towels, they brought 5 and said that was all they had and would bring more up later... That NEVER happened. I called the front desk and was instructed that I had to bring down the dirty towels and they would give me new ones...absolutely ridiculous when we paid a little over $500 for TWO nights ! The place in is dire need of and update, but I would settle for clean. I spoke to 9 separate people and they all we disappointed with the cleanliness of the hotel. The parking deck is very small and hard to get around and not the safest. On the up side, the outdoor pools, hottubs, and lazy river were very nice and clean and the majority of the DESK staff were friendly. Needless to say we will NOT be going back ! read more

The rooms were nice but I don't think this facility has figured out a rentals model. First unit had ants all over kitchen. Second unit had cookies, crackers and combs on floor and bedspread and broken closet door. We decided we'd clean it and stay. Every day lock was broken to get into door...maintenance came to repair but never really fixed it. Maid service spotty ... did not makeup room one day just left towels. Other days made up the room and didn't have clean towels so had to go hunting for clean towels to take a shower after beach. TVs didn't work until maintenance reset them. Ok so I know some people are impossible to please. I'm not one of those people. I'm pretty happy go lucky so here is my review. We arrived on a Friday with my dad, his girlfriend, my sister, her boyfriend and baby, my 2 boys ages 8 and 11 and my husband. The room was great. 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, nice kitchen and den wish a great balcony. Pretty happy. But the parking garage sucks. It's too small. You always feel like you are going to run into another car headfirst. Drive a small car if possible. House keeping is helpful. No complaints there. The hotel is in a good location, the pools and hot tubs are great. Nice resort overall, good price, great location. But word of warning: if you are in a hurry DO NOT use the elevator. They are slower than molasses. We were on the 8th floor and there were many times we took the stairs to the ground floor. You will stand there waiting on an elevator for a good 5 to 8 minutes. Also there was a dish washer and washer and dryer in the room but I suggest not bothering with the dryer. It doesn't dry. I had to put my clothes on like 2 or 3 cycles to get them dry. So what have we learned? Take a small car and don't use the elevator or dryer but other than that you will not regret the trip. read more

I stayed in this facility from nov 2016 to feb 2017. Eaten by bed bugs the whole time I was there. Tried to tell the staff that the room had bed bugs twice. Their idea of checking the room for the bed bugs was to throw back the covers on the bed & then said, "no bed bugs here". They tried to tell me that I was being bit by sand fleas. Never touched the beach the whole time I was there. I'm a medical provider, I see patients with bed bug bites every day. I KNOW WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE!!!!!! Once I left there and moved to my new house, I took all the appropriate precautions not to bring into my new home. Funny, I haven't had a bite on me since. read more

We stayed here for a week in July. This was the worst condo we have ever stayed in. The room was filthy!! Floors were sticky, so sticky you could feel your socks sticking to the floor. Also your socks or feet would be solid black after walking around in room. Asked to be moved to a different room but other room was worse. I went to turn on lamp and the lampshade fell on the floor. The toilet would barely flush and during the end of our stay the toilet would bubble and then over flowed on the floor. Told the front desk and they didn't come until I reminded them again. They never cleaned the bathroom floor where the toilet spilled over so I ended up going to the store and bought cleaning stuff and cleaned the floor myself. The couch was worn out and felt like you was sitting on the floor. The hallways to your rooms were filthy with trash laying all over the place. The balcony furniture was cracked and broken. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Oh and the parking garage is a pain to. There is only certain floors that cross over to resort. So I had to park on level 3 and then go across bridge to resort then take elevator down. Believe the other reviews on this dump...They are very very true! Stay away! I will say the pools and beach are both very nice but that's the extent of that. read more

We are a family of 7 adults and a baby, we chose to come here for Christmas and the price sounded great. After being here for a week we are pleased with the location in regards to the beach and the staff have all been very friendly. Other than that everything has been a bit disappointing, the cleaning service service is the biggest disappointment. We have yet to get our room swept or mopped without doing it ourselves and the bed sheets didn't get changed just made the bed with dirty sheets. Most of The amenities that were listed on the net we're not available, I understand that it is off season but I would have liked to have been told this when I made the reservations. If we come back to Myrtle Beach we will find a new place to stay. read more

This place is horrible. We got stuck on the 18th floor, we wanted a lower floor because we have a 3 year old and 12 year old, so we called. They said they could put us on the 3rd floor the next day and they would call us when the room was ready. We waited around and they finally called around 2 and said our new room was ready, on the 16th floor. My wife went downstairs and they told her they didn't have that for us that someone took it. Went back and forth for a while and they put us on the 8th floor. Room was much nicer- the rug upstairs was stinky and ripped, the tvs were big old school tube, the couch had rip and worn out spots all over it, and it just felt dirty- but wasn't what we wanted and we couldn't do anything since it was the holiday weekend. Mold in the bathroom, one of the guys on our floor had someone put something in his gas tank and seized his engine and they didn't help him much, and the food was horrible. They gave us free breakfast tickets for their mishap on the room so we tried it out. Fake eggs that were terrible, frozen pastries and pancakes, and milk that was almost out of date. There is zero chance we will come back. We went next door to eat at one point and was so jealous we didn't stay there- was much nicer, friendlier people, and much better food. If this is the only place available for your stay, change your dates and stay someplace else. read more

Pulling up to beach colony the place looks like a comfortable getaway. However, I was not impressed. Management staff does not appear to know how to run a hotel and do not accommodate guests adequately. The parking garage is extremely small and does not fit trucks. They expect trucks to park on the first floor (which is almost impossible to park a truck in unless you are an expert). We almost got into an accident three times in that parking garage. Furthermore, although housekeeping was very nice they knock on your door to clean your room between 8:30 and 9 am and if you put up a privacy sign your room won't get cleaned. Bar drinks are excellent however service isn't that great. The bartender had the memory of a goldfish and we had to remind her at least 10 times to get our drinks. Also the elevators are a death trap. One elevator broke at least 4 times while we were there and once stopped while we were on the elevator. One guest commented he got stuck in the elevator for twenty minutes. Despite this - elevators did not get fixed. Rooms were spacey and nice - beds were not comfortable unless you enjoy back pain. Also bring extra blankets because the rooms are very cold and the blankets provided provide no warmth (a piece of paper would do a better job). Jay at the front desk and Ms. Betty of housekeeping were excellent. For as expensive of a place this was you would think management would know how to do their job. read more

I don't even know where to get started. Staff was very nice! But that's about the only nice thing I have to say. The room had mold. Grout in the bathrooms. Showers very dated. Living room furniture very dated. No overhead lights, the lamps they do have barely light up the room. The comforters were all stained. Sheets never changed and we stayed for 5 days. Had to call and beg for towels since the housekeeper decided to come and take them, but never bring any back. Floors had sand on them when we walked in. No remotes for the TVs. Had to call for those. Housekeeping never took trash. Had to put it on her cart every time because she literally just came and took the towels out of the room but never returned any clean ones. The bartenders... dear fucking lord. The lady was drunk, took forever, had no help, food was horrible, we waited forever for our tabs checks or cards. The pools had shit floating all in them and the bottom of the pools were covered in sand. Elevators had no air conditioning and took forever. The room stunk so bad when we came in it I used all my perfume to make the smell go away. I am disappointed in this place. Mad I wasted $1200 to stay in a hole in the wall. I hope people read these reviews before they stay here. Housekeepers need some damn training. Sad sad sad that this place is still up and running. read more

When we got to BCR we got a two bedroom on second floor. We had stayed at BCR for the past three or four years. We didn't expect to see the room in the shape it was in.. The carpet was filthy. The place smelled bad. The sheets and comforters smelled like dirty feet..There were no cooking pans in the kitchen. We ask for a pan the first night we were there and still hadn't got one the next evening.When they did bring one it was burnt where stuff had stuck to it. I was so disappointed I went to talk to the manager. I told her to look at pics I had of our room. She was genuinely upset and embarrassed when I showed her the pics. We told her about the sheets and smell,and everything ...She apologized and gave us some keys to go look at other rooms.. We looked at a room that was more expensive than what we paid for but she gave us the upgrade for free and free breakfast the rest of our stay. Our house keeper , Rochelle was very nice and helpful with any problem we had.. I really like staying at BCR but I agree that they do need to keep a better check on their rooms. I've been in housekeeping for years and everyone knows that a dirty house just don't cut it.. If they were all,like Rochelle that place would be a lot better off... The front desk staff were very nice to my family, but there were many problems that could not be solved. We called room service multiple times to get towels and they never came. We had to go to the front desk to get them. The only people who helped us were Victor and Hunter. The buffets food was cold by the time you sat down to eat it. First of all, I booked my reservations through Monster Reservation Group a marketing company for Blue Green Resort. I booked on May 25 for July 6-9. On July 5th, I call to confirm and was told I had already taken my vacation in June (which was incorrect). After listening to my call I was told I would get a call on Saturday July 6th with my confirmation. On my way to Myrtle Beach from Ft. Mill, I called MRG and confirmed my reservation. Once I we got checked I immediately noticed the room was not up to par. My son had an AAU game so we ended up leaving shortly after unloading our luggage. Once we returned later that night we saw several roaches crawling. I calked the front desk and was moved. We moved again on Sunday and Monday. When I spoke with the supervisor Lenay (who was very helpful and courteous) she explained that even if she moved us into another room, she could not guarantee we would not encounter more roaches because the hotel has a pest problem. She offered to refund my taxes and resort fees but Blue Green Resort would need to approve it. Needless to say we ended up staying at a Laquinta our last night. The staff is great but the hotel is a health hazard!!! STAY AWAY!!!! read more

Me and my two children (16 & 12), Stayed here Fri 5/12/17 - Mon 5/15/17.. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star rating is due to the dated rooms, I was on vacation with 4 other families and each room was out dated and the parking ramp being hell to get in and out of Level 3 it's the best for parking.. Other than that our experience was pleasurable, desk staff and housekeeping were very nice and courteous.. My family and I enjoyed the lazy river, although it seems to be more kid friendly than for adults, The view from our room 1002 was very beautiful, from my bed I could look out into the ocean , the rooms/ bathroom was very clean, we had two tv's, our kitchenette was fully stocked with dishes (Plates, cutlery, cookwear etc).. When my 16 y/o got sick (puked), housekeeping was prompt and courteous, also asked if it was anything else he could assist with.. I like the fact it's computers w/ printers in the lobby for guest to use, I was able too check in for our flights and print our boarding passes with ease.. The bar and restaurant was a plus with me as well, I ordered the bucket with their signature drink "liquor" it's very good, you get to refill the bucket at a discounted charge each time.. The beach is so close to the resort, it's like stepping out your back door and you'll have sand between your toes..
