So it was between Mangia Mangia, and Devilicious to get my Lobster fix at The Las Vegas Foodie Fest... Devilicious had their Butter Poached Lobster Grilled Cheese and Mangia Mangia had Lobster Raviolis, and both were $12 bucks a pop. I go over to Devilicious and check out what the people say, and see what the finished product looks like...Majority of the people say "its okay, and I even heard people walking away saying "$12 for this!?!?!?!" regretting their purchase for a grilled cheese with skimpy lobster inside. I head over to Mangia Mangia, and the majority of orders coming out are Lobster Raviolis, It smells really good, and all you hear is "Wow!" and OMG!. So I got an order and waited a good minute which is cool with me knowing that all their pasta is made fresh and cooked to order, I will happily wait for good food done right....5 good sized Raviolis covered in a red vodka cream sauce and a piece of garlic was worth the price and wait! Lobster in every bite, and the garlic bread worked as a perfect sponge leaving no survivors behind. Trust me when I tell you that you'll never find anything as good as this at The San Gennaro Feast this weekend-Go to Parma instead. Otherwise you'll be disappointed you blew $9 on a Sausage and Pepper Sandwich or $10 on Lasagna...Better bring the Pepto!!!....ALOHA!!! YELP 365 CHALLENGE-(232/365) "Ridiculous Raviolis!"

Mangia Burger! Yummy! Came here twice and both times was left content. They are good at making their burgers. Also really like their fries. I just got plain fries though, don't see myself paying no more than 2 bucks for fries. They had some fancy items with their fries for 5 bucks. I passed on that, not worth the price for a sack of potatoes. This food truck comes to my nearby workplace every Friday so it's pretty convenient. Only side problems I have is the price. The price is a little steep for a hamburger but I guess if it's once a week or once in awhile it's okay. Another problem I have is them charging extra for using credit cards..Come on!!! Just cover it on your side, the price of your food items is already priced up more than what it should be in the first place.. Don't get their Meat lollipop. Sounded gross in concept already, good thing I didn't give in to my friend's recommendation. They ended up not really liking it at the end :) I'd just recommend their burger, haven't tried their other items. Do bear in mind that price is a little more expensive than what you prefer it to be.

Portabella Mushroom burger (vegetarian) @ the beer fest! The mushroom cap, arugula, garlic, pesto is amazing

After careful consideration, I picked Mangia Mangia Mobile among the selection of food trucks @ the Beer and Music festival because it seemed the least boring.... tacos and burgers don't always excite me because they're always around (cmon, it's a San Diegan thing). I made the right choice :) -Portabella Burger is A1, buy it and try it (arugula, pesto, portabella mushroom cap, truffle oil, garlic, all that good stuff) -good vegetarian option ^^ -very friendly cashier -was on a food truck show on the food network!!

We got to try this food truck out during a food truck Friday in Balboa Park and I was not disappointed. There weren't many people at the rodeo when we go there so it was easy for us to look at all of the different options but as soon as I saw the menu here, I knew this was it. They had all of the great Italian classics you would want but I picked a chicken parm sub, garlic fries and pesto fries. Adam and I split the fries. They were so good. The fries were done perfectly and had some great flavor however I would call the pesto fries basil garlic fries over pesto fries because that is pretty much what they were. There needed to be more pesto. The garlic fries were heavenly. The chicken parm sub was superb! It was very large which was great. I was so full after eating it. There was the perfect ratio of sauce to chicken to sub to mozzarella. Paired with the fries it was just amazing. I truly suggest trying this place out. They have some really good food that will seriously fill you. A lot of food trucks charge a lot for not much food and you often don't feel full for the amount of money you spend, but I promise that won't be the case with this food truck! Totally worth it.

I tried this food truck for the second time today because of its convenient location Downtown (at 4th & B). I always like how food trucks make their way Downtown and give us some variety as opposed to the same old same old. The first time I tried this place, I got the Chicken Parm sandwich for $7. It was pretty big, but pretty ordinary tasting. The bread was a bit soggy, but that was expected if you don't eat it right away. It came in a large Styrofoam container with your choice of fries or salad. The side salad was actually more enjoyable than the sandwich. It did fill me up, but it was nothing too creative or special. I saw that they had different types lasagna on their menu as well, and so I was willing to give it a second try. This time it was $8 and you could choose what flavors you wanted. I got broccoli and sausage. It came in a Styrofoam container half the size. When I opened it up, it was even smaller! It was about the size of a post-it note, with a piece of garlic bread taking up the other half of the container. I usually don't get Italian food unless I want to get pretty filled up. This piece I could have finished in three bites. It seemed like a huge rip off for the amount paid. To be fair, the flavors were very tasty and the garlic bread was even very good. But that was at most a $5 side order, not an $8 entrée. I felt very unsatisfied afterwards. This coupled with a non-outstanding first sandwich dish makes me not really want to frequent this place again. The service was friendly enough, and if you have a hankering for a bite of some Italian food, you might want to stop by. But if you want value for your money, this is not the place to get your lunch.

Stop #5 on the San Diego food truck tour. I saw that Mangia Mangia was in the Sorrento Valley area for the first time and decided that it was a perfect time to hit them up before they appear on the Cooking Network's show, Eat Streets. If you happen to see them before the airing, I recommend you do the same as they are worth trying out and are bound to get busy after the national attention. If you haven't come across this truck, they offer gourmet pasta, paninis and salads. They do a better job than other trucks in creating an ambiance with some nice background music (Italian of course) and a few decorations to give a little more of a restauranty feel. Best of all though is the authentic Italian accent you quickly here when you go to place your order. I was able to sample two panini's after splitting with a friend: chicken parmesean and meatball. Both sandwiches also came with a hand tossed side salad which was actually quite impressive. As far as the sandwiches go, both were quite good: good flavor and not overpowered by too much sauce. I do have to call out one thing, though: these are not your traditional paninis. When I order a panini, I expect a hot, pressed sandwich. These were more like subs on fresh Italian rolls. The rolls were great, but not what I expected when I ordered a panini. I'll definitely give Mangia Mangia another try when they're back in the neighborhood. I'm excited to try the gnocchi or lasagna that others have raved about.

    Mangia burger. YUM

Living at Portofino apartments has its perks; one of them is the weekly food trucks! Mangia Mangia has been my favorite so far and the first truck I'm taking time to review. What we got: Hubby got the Mangia burger without the cheese (tragic I know, but he doesn't eat cheese--which is even more tragic). He is a burger connessour (sp) and really enjoyed it. The meat was flavorful and juicy.. and the pancetta and red pepper made it extra YUM. I bet it's even better with the gorgonzola that is supposed to compliment it. I could tell the guy was avidly let down and dismayed he had to make it without it. Overall -- great burger !! I had the lobster ravioli which was really good! I would love if the raviolis had a little more stuffing but they were still yummy. Sauce was perfect and not too heavy like some sauces can be. My favorite part I think was the side garlic bread... But maybe that's because I haven't had real gooey bread in a while. I could of had 17 of those. We also ordered the risotto balls. They were really good but I wouldn't get them again... Wishing we ordered the fried meatballs instead!

Unfortunately I only got the chance to try out their delicious garlic fries!!!! But, I cannot wait to try different dishes!!! They are very friendly thank you!

First tried this food truck for a small bite at the just San Diego Boomers event (which should have been more widely attended!). My husband and I had heard a good review on here about their fried mozzarella so decided to try that. It was quite tasty, especially with the herb surprise, although it looked a bit different than what I expected. But overall, definitely worthy of a return trip! Then I noticed that they were by my workplace for lunch a few weeks ago, so I decided to get something small to complement my home-brought lunch. So I got the caprese salad... AMAZING! This was better than I have had at sit-down restaurants - so fresh and so flavorful! They definitely used the seasonings to their advantage. The garlic bread that came with it was also quite good! I would definitely come back to this place, although I don't see them come to my workplace for lunch too often. I'm looking forward to trying their pastas and paninis!

Outside of Qualcomm on Wednesdays in Sorrento Valley

Wow, this place was amazeeee! The food truck is outside of our building on Wednesdays for lunch so i decided to give it a try. The guy running it is so nice and hilarious. The staff is all very friendly and the food is quick! Food: I tried the eggplant parmagiana sandwich and the roll was really good. The sauce and eggplant were good too, but i really judge a sandwich by its hoagie roll , and this one passed. My friend got the lobster ravioli which she said was awesome too. The guy gave our whole group some tiramisu to try, and i will definitely be getting more of that next time. Ridiculously yummy.

There was a greeter on the ground floor who checked us in and led us upstairs. Parking: Parking can be challenging since the restaurant is in the heart of Little Italy. There is street parking and a few nearby parking lots, but most options are paid. Service: The main reason I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5. There were only two other tables occupied throughout our lunch, but we still felt a bit rushed. When we asked which pastas were handmade, our server raised an eyebrow and simply pointed at a few items on the menu. It made us feel a little out of place since we weren't familiar with the different Italian pastas. Food: We ordered the Torre Di Antipasti, the Pappardelle Bolognese, and the Spaghetti alla Carbonara. The appetizer tower looked beautiful, but it tasted average, and I don't think it was worth the $32. When we were looking for a handmade pasta, our server recommended the Pappardelle Bolognese. It definitely had a unique texture. The Spaghetti alla Carbonara isn't made with handmade pasta, but it was still delicious and actually my favorite! Rich, creamy, and cheesy (I went for the extra Parmesan). Overall: There are a lot of great Italian restaurants in Little Italy and throughout San Diego. The handmade pasta dishes are the highlight at Ristorante Illando, and I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area, especially if you're looking for fresh pasta.

But I had no qualms about it whatsoever, as I was more focused on the experience of the food. I ordered the Fettuccine Bolognese while my boyfriend ordered the Piccante. I was pleasantly surprised with how quick my food came to the table, with my boyfriend's not too long after. Despite the portion size, the fettuccine filled me up well and the marinara sauce was flavorful. My boyfriend raved about his pizza as well as the chili oil provided for garnish. (You can actually taste the chili in the chili oil, so be wary of that if you're one not accustomed to large spice.) I had only tried the crust of his pizza, but even that alone, it was still delicious. A part of the reason for our visit was to try the Tiramisu and it didn't disappoint at all. It was the right balance of sweet mascarpone and rich espresso. Our server was kind and attentive to us, checking on us and giving us updates on our food. We were both surprised to see that after asking for the check, we weren't charged for the Tiramisu, a kind gesture we appreciated. Overall, my boyfriend and I enjoyed our time here. I'd like to come back so I could try the pizza with my boyfriend.

We stopped here after spending the day at the zoo, and it was one of the best meals my family and I have had in a long time. The service was absolutely outstanding--friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was some of the most authentic Italian cuisine we've ever had, and every dish was delicious. The desserts were just as incredible and were the perfect way to end the meal. If you're looking for amazing Italian food with exceptional service, I can't recommend this place enough. We'll definitely be back before we head home!

Without hesitation, he poured me a glass of Prosecco, invited me to wait outside, and assured me he'd have a seat for me in just a few minutes. Sure enough, about two minutes later, he came out and seated me. This restaurant made you feel like you were in Italy with the ambiance and vibe. I had done my research beforehand, so I already knew what I wanted. I ordered the lasagna, and it was absolutely incredible. The portion was generous, and my server let me know it would take a little extra time to prepare, which was perfectly fine. It didn't take long for me to realize that the man who seated me was also the owner. As I watched him greet guests throughout the evening, it was obvious that he genuinely loves what he does. We had a great conversation, and he was warm, welcoming, and personable. After finishing my meal, I ordered a double espresso and tiramisu for dessert. The tiramisu was easily one of the best I've ever had. Exceptional food, outstanding hospitality, and a memorable experience from start to finish. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.
