Bryce (Co-Owner/Founder of Beach Fitness) took me (a young, otherwise healthy, prior track/baseball athlete, 28y/o male) from being in extreme agony (constant pain walking, standing, sitting, basically doing anything) due to a severe 7mm L4-L5 Disc Herniation suffered / provoked while skiing in Late Feb 2024, to being in minimal pain by April, feeling mostly better by May, back to light exercising by June/July, then progressing to more complete movements / activities in August, and now I am happy to report I am back to skiing with confidence and fitter than I have been in the last 7 years. Time was a major contributing factor in the healing / recovery process; however, after even our very first session I walked out of Beach Fitness with my gait markedly improved and my pain level down several notches. Bryce gave me the tools to deal with my pain and strengthen my body in a way that kept my disc herniation from flaring up again. I move better, I feel better, I have more energy, I understand so much more, and it all was put into motion by practicing the program developed by Bryce and incorporating knowledge from our conversations into my daily life. His knowledge of ELDOA, posture, body/movement mechanics, fitness, nutrition, recovery, etc. is vast and worth every penny. He was also willing to work with me on a session schedule and timeline that made sense, never trying to upsell me or push anything on me that didn't seem necessary. As I progressed, I would leave each session with Bryce feeling better and better, not only physically, but also mentally as I took home information from the session and knew I had support along the way. As I got better and in person session became less frequent, the check-in texts I would receive from Bryce were him going above and beyond, demonstrating his commitment and care for his clients. Additionally when at the facility, I would regularly notice that for patrons working with his other staff it also seemed like coming to Beach Fitness was also the highlight of their day. I am excited to continue on in my path to becoming truly athletic and fit again, undoing several years of abuse by disuse on my body, and keep Beach Fitness in the picture while doing so. They have a variety of small group fitness & ELDOA classes, one-on-one personal training, open gym hours, nutrition coaching and more all under one roof and I cannot recommend Bryce and his team enough. I've been doing personal training w barb for about 6 mos now and not only am I thrilled with how my body looks and has morphed - I have decreased back and joint pain, better balance, and have loads more energy. Being a professional athlete my whole life, accumulating injury after injury I was convinced that I was in a pattern of Chronic pain for the rest of my life. I had given up, after trying treatment after treatment and everything failing I wasn't convinced Eldoa would be the thing to turn it all around. Great gym. I came here because I wanted to try out a crossfit type of exercise program. Unfortunately, because of COVID, most of the classes are HIIT based. Although I was disappointed, I discovered they offer these rehab/stretching classes called EDOLA. I've been working out forever---always trying these different types of classes---yoga, HIIT, boxing, kickboxing, etc. I have never even heard of it. Was the perfect class for me. Had previous injuries and was rehabbing a rotator cuff strain. I was actually learning and benefiting more from the EDOLA class (compared to online physical therapy). Staff is very knowledgeable and approachable. Highly recommend this place. read more

I wanted to wait until I felt fully integrated into Crossfit classes prior to writing this review. I am one of those people who tried Crossfit again, a bit reluctantly, after a horrible experience at another box in Orange County. I wanted to like it, but I just didn't based on that experience. I had worked out at Beach Fitness back in 2009 and really enjoyed the atmosphere and instructors. I knew this would be the perfect place to try Crossfit again. After completing my On-Ramp Program with Marc and Helena, I felt comfortable with the movements and technique, but was still nervous about taking my first class; understanding the terminology, focusing on counting repetitions while under duress, learning Olympic-style lifting and just worried about not feeling that this type of workout would be for me. Two months later, I absolutely love Crossfit. The number one reason, by far, is the coaching. Marc and Anthony (5:30 am!) are extremely knowledgeable and positive. Their coaching has helped me improve my skill level by leaps and bounds in only a short while. They give me the confidence to try skills that I never thought I could perform. They always know just how to push you out of your comfort zone, which is one of the aspects of personal training that I crave. An extra added bonus that I truly did not expect is the wonderful comradery that is developed with your classmates. You toil together, celebrate together and cheer others on together. My only regret is not coming to Crossfit Seal Beach sooner. I highly recommend Crossfit Seal Beach! read more

I was really nervous about visiting a CrossFit gym because 1) strength training is not my fitness forté, 2) there is definitely a stigma which surrounds CrossFit-ers. Despite this, I wanted to challenge myself and try something new. I am so happy that I decided to do this at CrossFit Seal Beach! My first class was the Rep-X class led by Lester and it was GREAT. He explained the exercises well, took the time to correct my form when needed, and sufficiently kicked my butt. Others in the class were very friendly and welcoming. I left the class very sweaty and excited to return. I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a high intensity strength + cardio class. All of the exercises can be modified for those newer to working out or made more difficult for those who want to go hard. I tried the actual CrossFit class on Wednesday and though it was certainly different from the Rep-X class and from anything I've done before, I liked it. Anthony led the CF class and was also very thorough in explaining the exercises and reasoning behind them. The class started out with some slower paced strength/heavy lifting exercises (max rep type stuff), followed by the Workout of the Day (WOD). I liked that this class was self-paced, so again it is manageable by newbies and CF veterans. The WOD was followed by some mobility exercises. I purchased the 10-pack, so I plan on taking a few more Rep-X and CrossFit classes before committing to a monthly unlimited membership. I will say upfront that this gym is very expensive. It is a very clean facility, not too packed with people, and from what I can tell so far, offers great workout classes, so the price may be just right. I guess I'll know after 9 more classes! read more

This review is LONG overdue!! Before today, I've never written a review on Yelp, even though I use others' reviews all the time. I LOVE coming to Beach Fitness and want to be sure I share this with others and share my appreciation for the Beach Fitness family. I have so many great things to say, I honestly don't know where to start! We moved from Seattle to Huntington Beach in Aug 2014. We wanted to find a small/personal gym and did a lot of research on YELP and Facebook and ultimately decided to try Beach Fitness. From the first class we attended, everyone started learning our names. The trainers introduced us to the other class members, had everyone give us high fives, learned about our lives, and immediately made us feel welcome. Within a short period of time, we had friends in a city where we knew only co-workers, thanks for Beach Fitness and the sense of community they foster with their members. Bryce and Barb, the owners, are amazing. They have lots of knowledge, are always in the gym, and always accessible to chat about whatever topic may be on your mind - sore muscles, nutrition, old school rap, you name it! They both teach great classes, do personal training, host challenges, and run a great business. All of the trainers/coaches are also knowledgeable and fun. My experience has been 100% opposite of the last review. I've had a lot of coaching on how to properly stretch, lift correctly, and use proper posture. The trainers are always monitoring and correcting to ensure no one is hurt and we learn proper form. Classes are fun... and hard! Sometimes we do individual workouts and sometimes as a team, but always hard and you never leave feeling that you didn't get a great workout! My Fiance and I normally do the RepX and Bootcamp classes, and have done Crossfit once. We like them all! Now for the other gym members... they're amazing! Everyone at Beach Fitness is excited to be at the gym, spends time getting to know one another, has fun being on each other's teams and friendly competition, visits after class, and form friendships. It makes coming to the gym a time to see friends and it's a wonderful aspect of being part of the Beach Fitness community. I could probably write another 5 pages on how much we enjoy and appreciate finding this gym and I would recommend it to anyone! I LOVE Beach Fitness. I can't stop talking about this place. What I love most about Beach is that they offer a variety of classes. It's not just Crossfit. They offer conditioning classes like Rep-x and Strength and Conditioning. These classes will get your heart rate up and help build muscle without lifting heavy weights. You do things like squats, push-ups, lunges, etc. They offer personal training, yoga, and even a beach bootcamp on Saturdays. There are classes for mom's only where mothers who are expecting and/or with little ones take classes together. You are constantly being challenged here. There so much variety that you NEVER get bored. The people who work at Beach and/or takes classes are some of the nicest people I've ever met. Newbies are immediately welcomed and encouraged throughout the workout by both the safe and other clients. The staff ALWAYS goes over and beyond the call of duty. The coaches are encouraging and supportive. There have been several times when I've gone into a class feeling sore and it never fails, a coach will suggest modifications and suggest movements that I can do to relieve some of the soreness. Beach fitness really feels like a family. This is one of the reasons why I decided to sign up. Since signing up, my daughter has joined, her boyfriend has joined, and a friend has joined. They've fallen in love with this place, too! :) If you aren't sure you want to commit, you can always sign up for their anchor program which offers you 3 personal trainings and 2 weeks unlimited. I did this before deciding to commit. It was great because the coaches worked with me on form/technique for movements that you may see in a class, particularly a Crossfit class. It also allowed me two full weeks to take all of the classes to ensure that I wanted to make the commitment. This is a place you have to check out. read more

Although Bryce is correct that they did indeed contact me and I did indeed visit the facility once, my general outlook of the gym is that I have experienced better. Upon my visit the class that I took there showed me that there was a complete disregard to proper technique. And please correct me if I am wrong, but technique is arguably one of the biggest keys to not only succeeding , but also keeping yourself safe and uninjured. The instructor running through the class that day did nothing of the sort. She did not care to make corrections or identify whether or not proper technique was being used. I wish you all the success, but I do suggest you visit other small gyms and crossfit gyms in your area (I have)-- to get a true sense of team spirit, encouragement and proper technique training! Yes, you have many great reviews which I am sure you are proud of (as would I), but that shouldn't mean that you completely disregard and blatantly imply that one inconsistent review is clearly wrong. I never got a chance to see a personal trainer. I have a challenging schedule (for now it is) and it was hard to get in for a evaluation which they (receptionist) said was two hours... then it turned into hour and half... and today it was a hour for relatively the same amount of cost (25 dollars less for one hour assessment so 250 and 275 initially two hours as I was informed...) I really emphasized that I wanted a personal trainer to body sculpt and to learn how to exercise correctly and to learn how to use dumbbells and progress onto dead lifting to learn proper mechanics and learn how to use lift equipment properly. However weeks later on I found out the trainer was not specializing in body sculpting but in pain management. Posting this out of frustration. I got a massage there by wonderful lady and I have to give her five stars unfortunately one star for rest of my experience it was a waste of my time and I feel misled so for now that's what they deserve. read more

I have been going to Beach Fitness on and occasionally off for 16 years. Great group of people in all areas of their services. But I recently went due to a Pickleball injury to my right calf. I tore it in 2 places. For 2 weeks I hounded my Dr. to prescribe Physical Therapy. I do not know why he did not. So I went in to see Bryce Turner and his team and from 4/1/2021 forward, I have been improving and healing in a great way - Body & Soul. It is devastating for an active person to be shut down with no plan. Add in pain every time you move and it can be depressing. The first time Bryce worked on me, he set up a plan. A course of action we were going to take to get back to square one. It brightened my soul. He has helped me in so many ways with his great skills. I am on the road to getting back to my active life in record time. I've been going to Beach Fitness for about a year and I had major back issues before I started with them. Now after about a year I'm pain free and I've been able to throw my back brace away. You see I'm an avid Golfer which is very hard on your back, now I'm pain free and swinging a Golf club better than ever. Bryce and Alex at Beach Fitness have been amazing and without going to them I would have had to quit Golf. These guys are amazing! My wife also goes for her back and there has been no other fitness studio, chiropractor or doctor that has been able to help my wife like these guys have. I started personal training sessions at Beach Fitness at the end of 2011. I was a bit apprehensive about going -- I didn't know if I really NEEDED personal training and wasn't sure if it would be worth coming over from Belmont Shore to Seal Beach for workouts. It's turned out to be a great decision and very much worth the time and cost. I've been going twice per week for one-hour sessions for five months now and have really seen some great results. I've been working with trainers James and Joe. James is extremely knowledgeable and consistent; Joe is very personable and motivating. My payoff has come in terms of strength, weight loss and improved ability to recover from minor injuries quickly. Bryce and Barbara run a good ship over there -- all the trainers are friendly and it's a pleasant place to get my ass kicked 2x per week. I haven't tried cross-fit classes yet, but I'm thinking about it. read more

They also remember who you are, meaning they remember what you are good at, bad at and help you to incredible strength and endurance gains! This review is long overdue.. I've been at CFSB for about 6 months now and love every minute that I'm in that gym. It's honestly my favorite part of the day. I've lost over 30 lbs, gained muscle, and I'm stronger and fitter than ever. The coaches here are outstanding! They are very knowledgable about all the movements and will scale the workouts down to anyone's fitness level. They do a great job at teaching proper form so no one gets hurt and they will be quick to correct you if they notice something wrong with your technique. The community is very friendly and welcoming. Everybody cheers everybody on and we help motivate each other to get through the workouts and push ourselves to the next level. If you're new don't be afraid to drop-in. They also have a great anchor program that gives you one-on-one personal training on the basic movements to get you prepped for the regular classes. FYI they have a lot of other classes besides just crossfit i.e. Rep-x, Beach bootcamp, Pilates, and personal training. Give them a try... Crossfit Seal Beach is a step above. Their trainers, Joey and Drew, can definitely walk the walk. They are always high energy and extremely knowledgeable.
