There's always something social going on (burpees and paddleboarding? Yes, please but not together). Parking is a breeze (shocking for Long Beach, I know), and the fact that Trader Joe's is right here? Peak efficiency. The coaches--Sydney, Christine, Fernando, Ashley, and Stephanie--are like my fitness fairy godparents: encouraging, eagle-eyed, and genuinely invested in your progress. Bonus points: showers on-site for that post-sweat rinse, the magical InBody machine to track gains, and fresh towels that feel like little cotton hugs. When I first started, I couldn't manage more than three sad little push-ups. Now? Let's just say I've upgraded to "push-up show-off." I can't recommend F45 enough! I have been going to F45 for a little over a year and have seen amazing results. I've tried many different group fitness gyms and F45 is by far my favorite. I don't dread coming to the gym and the workouts go by so fast and I actually see results. They have amazing trainers that really push you to be better! I have to admit, my initial class/impression left much to be desired, as I had no idea what I was doing at first and was completely ignored by the instructor. But I had a two week trial and stuck with it, and it's fairly easy to grasp anyway. The workouts change every day and most are pretty engaging! As a deeply inherent lazy bitch, I appreciate that the classes are a quick 45 min, but I did feel like I didn't get as good of a workout as I have in other studios around that area (ahem, Onix, my hands down fave). F45 Alamitos Bay is a gem of a studio that should be awarded all the accolades for it's all-inclusive workout regimens, motivational/inspirational coaches, significant healthcare results, and a true sese of community. I've been an avid attendee for 2.5 years now and I still enjoy coming in every single time. I used to be a traditional gym rat at public gyms, but lost the drive to workout on my own after COVID and my unexpected health issues that came with it. One of my best gals posted a testimonial on their site and I figured I give it a try. After a 1 week tryout, I knew this is the community I've been searching for. Structure and realistic expectations of my workouts so there is no stress on planning and no anxiety with how to do my workouts. The studio has not only become my refuge for a good sweat/burn, the coaches and my other SWOLE-mates have become wonderful friends and motivators. I couldn't be anymore grateful. I had been a decade + member of another fitness studio in the same plaza so when I saw F45 was coming, I was intrigued--changes at the studio I was with eliminated strength and cardio classes I enjoyed. I talked to the owner Suzy many times pre-opening and she was so friendly and knowledgeable. I felt like this was just the switch I needed--I even talked my partner into going to the special preview bootcamp at Ballast Point in 2019. What a shock to both our systems! It kicked our asses but that was just the beginning. Fast forward to 2022, I can say I have never felt so strong and motivated to work out! I've completed well over 550 workouts w/F45--definitely a lot more if you count the home zoom workouts during the pandemic. And speaking of that...we were in the middle of a fitness challenge in Spring 2020 and I was on a roll. Then everything was shut down. Owners Suzy and Josh sprung into action and quickly pivoted with first the online workouts, then outdoor workouts. It was a godsend during an extremely stressful time (the horrors of online schooling anyone?) when many things felt out of our control. The coaches and the owners were amazing in checking in and making options available for us to keep on pushing. I completed the challenge even with the modified workouts and was extremely proud of the results, so much so I kept on going and continued to see improvements all through the summer and fall. I have seen many other members transform, and it's been a supportive, friendly environment where partnering makes for everyday chances to meet new people. But it also created a stronger bond with my partner, who has also joined and enjoys the regimen and being able to work out together. As a huge F45 advocate, for anyone wondering if they should give it a try, it's as simple as asking yourself "what do I have to lose?" In terms of giving it a try, absolutely nothing. I understand how many might balk at a premium membership when there's many gyms for less, but there is a big difference in terms of support and personal attention from coaches and the owners. Plus, once I did the math with as much as I go, the cost per class is super reasonable. The workouts don't repeat, and there are new challenges to keep it fresh. Argumentative, Disrespectful, and Prejudice. Today i was visiting this F45 Alamitos from out of town, and am VERY familiar with the F45 experience. I have hundreds of workouts logged in my F45 Lion heart, and consider myself advanced level. I decided to do a Saturday morning 'NOHO' workout here, and even registered the night before. I also registered my Lionheart heart rate monitor to this studio, so the instructors could see my heart rate, to give me feedback. I was excited when i walked in to start the workout. i was 7 minutes late, which is uncharacteristic of me, and missed the intro/warm-up, which i didn't consider an issue, b/c i've done the exact same workout several times. Within a few seconds, a young man/coach explained i needed to do 2 minutes of warm-ups before engaging in the workout, which i was happy to do. I started doing "A Steps" and alternated between those, burpees, and inchworms. As i was warming-up, i felt glaring looks by other staff members, and shortly thereafter, the coach came up to me asking if i registered, and i answered "yes"; i even had the email to prove i was registered. He told me he couldn't find me in the system, and then told me he couldn't let me work out b/c i he didn't have a waiver for me. I explained that i signed the waiver, and even had the email showing that. I even told him i was happy to sign another waiver. Then he said i couldn't work out b/c i wasn't present for the introduction. I explained how experienced and seasoned i was with F45, had hundreds of records to prove my experience. Not that he cared, as most of the patrons working out (myself included) were obviously in better shape than he and the manager--who he signaled to come talk to me, when he saw the futility of his argument. When the manager came up to me, she tried to discourage me from working out, and basically reiterated what her staff said. I politely explained to her what i explained to her staff, but she said it didn't matter, and that their 'policy' is that no one can work out here if they miss the intro. I told her i've done the NOHO workout so many times. She continued to argue with me about their policy, and i simply asked her what could i do to join the workout. She did not encourage me to come back to workout a different day/time. When i pointed out the inconsistencies in the "reasons" for not allowing me to workout, and how i felt wrongfully discriminated, and mentioned a Yelp review, her mouth started quivering, and accused me of threatening her. read more

This is hands down the best gym I've ever been to. I joined late 2020 and have loved it ever since. For the first time ever, I feel a significant difference in the progress I have made this past year. I never imagined I would be able to be this strong both physically and mentally. One of the best things this gym offers is it's stellar trainers! They all make an effort to get you feeling comfortable, help you regularly with correcting your form and offer lots of encouragement through the classes. The classes are rigorous and challenging but anyone can do them at their own pace. I really enjoy the 45 minute class length as it makes it easy to get workouts in even on hectic days. Workouts vary from cardio to strength days depending on the day of the week. The classes' stations vary daily, but don't worry they are easy to follow since all trainers give detailed, modeled explicit instructions on form at the beginning of every class. Still think you might be confused? No worries, they also provide tv monitors showing stations numbers and a model of the daily station exercises. This gym also provides clean towels, a cold water dispenser for refilling bottles, showers, challenges, group events, as well as taking all the necessary covid safety precautions. I love how they thoroughly sanitize between classes and how everything is organized. One of the best parts of this gym is the camaraderie from trainers and fellow members. The motivation you will receive from the group is like no other. If you're looking for a clean gym that will give you awesome results with lots of friendly people, this is absolutely it! Here are a few but many reasons why I keep coming back: - Owners frequently solicit feedback for improvement. Based on feedback, they've expanded class times, added coaches, and adjusted workouts/exercises...you name it. - Commitment to safety: the 2020 pandemic highlighted how they went above and beyond to create safe space to workout. They quickly pivoted to an outdoor class when many gyms/other locations were unsure how to transition. They offered virtual/livestream workout classes when everyone was at home and on lockdown. They also installed approved filters and implemented stringent cleaning practices early on. - Community: I love that it's diverse--you have people from all ages, sizes, and backgrounds. Everyone is respectful, kind, and encouraging. Been going for almost 10 months. This is such a strong community, with world class trainers. Coach Uli was incredible on my first day. He made sure I understood the flow and fixed my form through the different exercises. If you're looking for a gym where folks will help push you to your fitness goals, this is the place. I find it to be a great balance of "motivation" from the coaches, and motivation from the members. I work so much harder because I see everyone around me working hard. I get so much done in 45m. Your first week is a $7 trial pass, so it's easy to come to a class to see if it's for you. I started here one year ago, one year after having my baby. I was feeling sluggish and out of shape as well as still struggling with post partum anxiety. I did the $7 for 7 days openeinf deal and from there I was hooked. This has been the first time in my life I love working out. I have been to several F45 studios, and this one is top-notch. The trainers are some of the best I've experienced, each one providing their own unique coaching style to the workouts. They push you to work hard while also correcting your form, which I really appreciate! Let's talk about the little things (that are really big things when it comes to choosing a gym): They supply towels, parking is easy, the gym is very clean, and they have a shower available if you'd like to use it. They're pretty much perfect. COVID Update: They are taking extra precautions to make sure everyone can get a great workout in, while social distancing. The class sizes have been cut in more than half, and everyone has their own 6 x 6 box to workout in. Your temperature is checked at the door and you must wash your hands upon entering. You also need to wear a mask upon entering, but you don't need to wear it during your workout. You have your own equipment, which is disinfected before your workout. I've been coming to this gym for ~4 months & can't seem to say enough nice things about it. I'm always trying to lure my friends in for classes, every chance I get. I have not met a coach in this gym I didn't like - they all take the extra time to get to know you & keep you constantly progressing. They have a good variety of workouts/equipment to always keep your body guessing what burn is coming that day. Plus, if you take the same classes regularly *represent the lunchtime crew!*, you start making friends with the familiar faces! Literally obsessed just do it!! I did the 1 week $7 trial and thought I'm going to go around doing trials at all the gyms to see what type of gym I liked best and F45 was first on my list Bc I've had some friends rave about it. After my week I was so obsessed I immediately did a membership without trying other gyms lol. I thought it was pricey at first but after calculating it out for the month going 3-5 days a week it's actually a lot cheaper than other fitness classes per class for this type of quality workout. Also don't feel intimidated by the equipment they show you how to do every move before the class and you have a buddy so it's great for any level. Don't get me wrong the first class I almost threw up lol but the coaches are super amazing and help you push through the workout. What i like best is they correct your form to make sure you're doing everything safely! I was also intimidated going to a gym by myself but Suzy, the coaches, and other members are super welcoming and kind. If you're even thinking about it I'd recommend trying it out. All of the coaches and staff have been a huge part of why I love going to F45 in Alamitos Bay because I always feel welcomed and encouraged to do my best. If you aren't coming to F45? Are you even working out? But seriously, before I joined F45, I worked out at clubs like LA Fitness and 24 Hour. It was fine. And when I say fine, that's exactly how it was...fine. But I was tired of waiting for people to finish texting while sitting on equipment I wanted to use, felt like I lacked variety in my programming, and felt that I was coasting--no one to push me and no one to have a healthy competition with. When I heard they were opening an F45 in the LBC, I said "MEEEEEEEE!" Here I am, one year later, doing the most with this Yelp review! I am in the BEST shape of my life, taking five sessions per week, have an entire community behind me, and I don't have to write a single workout or wait for a single piece of equipment. Every day brings a new challenge, mental and physical, and when I see my friends in class going hard, I only want to go harder. And the workout--it's literally for everyone. Beginners, athletes...anyone. You choose the intensity when you choose your weights. And now that we're in the age of COVID, I'm even more grateful that the studio is open. It's one of the few pleasures that is left at the moment. We are now outside, distanced by 6-8ft, masks, temperature checks + handwashing at arrival, BYOM (bring your own mat for working out), and sanitized equipment before each class. This workout packs a HUGE punch in 45 minutes and is great for all levels of fitness. Each exercise can be modified based on ability or injury and the trainers are incredibly attentive + experienced. The classes aren't huge, I've experienced a range of 4-20 participants at a time. Evening classes are consistently far less busy than the mornings. Even in the larger classes, the trainers find a way to engage with you individually to encourage you and monitor biomechanics to prevent injury. I've worked out mostly with Alyssa, Hannah and Uli who are absolutely amazing! They learn your name, take personal interest in your fitness goals and bring nothing but positive energy to each and every session. 10/10 recommend. I've been a gym addict for 20 years, tried all types of studio workouts, cycle, sports...you name it, I've done it. But F45 is the best by far! You would think that 45 minutes of fat torching workout would be so dreadful and near impossible but it's not. People from all levels of fitness do the classes. They are scalable and keep you moving. The trainers are so friendly and knowledgeable, most studios let people just run with the exercises but here the trainers actually TRAIN you. They push you and make sure you have proper form. I've always loved F45 workouts but the Alamitos Bay location is great! Definitely love the smaller class settings and cleanliness of the gym. My boyfriend and I joined after a two week trial and go 5-6x/week. The trainers know you by name and the owners are always there either working out with you or simply to say hi! The classes are structured to be able to go at your own pace, use the weights and resistance you'd like and get a great workout in 45 minutes. I'm a fitness trainer myself and I enjoy being able to come here and train outside of my normal teaching and trainings. read more

With all this COVID-19 stuff going on, not being able to work out at F45 is driving me crazy. I've been running and doing what I can but this break from not just the gym but the trainers in particular is killing me. Shockingly I miss them yelling at me, pushing me to do better. Uli making me use heavier weights when I don't think I can do more, Alyssa turning UP that damn nob on the bike, Ciara standing on my sled, Hannah giving me guidance when I'm doing a workout incorrectly, Josh bringing the energy non stop, and Bre always being positive and making me push myself harder then I ever think I can. Each and everyone of these trainers make these work outs so much easier with their knowledge and energy.
