Our family of 15, plus assorted family and friends who wove in and out of our week on Long Beach Island, loved our stay on LBI as we found the perfect spot. Clean and comfortable space for both togetherness and privacy. The kitchen was jam packed with cookware and serving ware, and even the basics of any kitchen pantry which made it a breeze to feed the crowds. Although the indoor table would have easily fit us all, we always found ourselves outside - cooking and eating at the table and conversation areas...all shaded by umbrellas as needed. Boogie boards, beach chairs and beach toys were in plentiful supply. Loved the spacious outdoor shower to rinse off after a day on the gorgeous beach of 85th street. Our hosts were wonderful- just top notch. Always responded to any questions or concerns immediately. They struck the perfect balance of being friendly and available, without hovering. From the beginning of our inquiry, they truly had our best interest at heart, and gave many helpful suggestions about activities beyond the sand and surf. Their friendliness was much appreciated. The rooftop deck was the icing on the cake, especially since we were there over the 4th of July. None of our group had ever seen fireworks so close up - just breathtaking and fun. And some of us saw them while in the hot tub...and none of us had to face a traffic jam when they were finished. Even without fireworks, it was a marvelous place to take in the sunset. For the sunrise, the bench at the head of the path to the beach was perfect. This property is in a terrific location. Third house from the beach made the to and fro easy. Both a seafood and pizza restaurant nearby for takeout. A grocery store only a few blocks away. All that we needed was quite convenient! Truly a vacation our family will always cherish! read more

This was a great place to stay once again! My family has gone here a few times for family reunions. This year I think the final count was 28. Three generations and we all had a good time together. Cooking for the crowd was easily done in the well equipped kitchen and the backyard grill. I even tried out the steam oven for baking bread on the one rainy day we had during our week stay. I liked the big table so we could all gather for dinner. Most of the other meals were done in shifts according to the different plans of family sub groups, but dinners together were such fun times to laugh together and catch up on the lives and interests of far flung family members. The owners were helpful with suggestions on things to do and see. They continually make improvements on this rental. The separate ice maker machine was kept busy! The new outside seating areas are very attractive and made for an additional gathering spot for cousins to talk and chat together. I loved the new mosaic back splash behind the stove. It was nice to look at when I was the designated breakfast cook. The stove top grill is fantastic! I wish I had one on my home stove. As usual, I like the close proximity to the beach. We had the best time at Mary Ann and Tom's home for our family vacation. Both owners were super responsive to any questions or concerns both before and during our stay. Their home was well equipped with the necessities for a beach vacation. The kitchen had updated appliances and was stocked full of anything we could possibly need to cook and prepare meals for our large family. We loved that the table could actually fit all of us, both inside and outside! The house also stayed exceptionally cool with the a/c during a very hot week, and the bedroom accommodations were comfortable and perfect for our family! The house is also in a perfect location for easy access to the beach as well as to popular local destinations. Mary Ann also sent several recommendations for things to do nearby, and we loved all the information left in the house for us with activities and tips to help us during our stay. My husband and I stayed at Beach House Retreats during the Lighthouse Film Festival in June 2013 and had a fantastic time. They took great care of us and made our stay in LBI easy and fun. The house is very comfortable, great for entertaining and easily sleeps ten. There is a backyard with a grill that is just right for hanging out during the evening. The kitchen and upstairs family room are also definite highlights with a large kitchen table and a huge TV with some of the most comfortable couches I've ever sat in. There is always a great breeze running through too since the house is literally right next to the beach and very luckily was not damaged at all in Sandy. The outdoor shower was a perfect way to rinse off after the beach and there were plenty of beach chairs, towels, and even surf boards for everyone. The owners could not have been nicer or more accommodating and we look forward to returning to LBI and Beach House Retreats soon. Thanks, Beach House Retreats! read more

We had a fantastic weekend at the Wed and Bed in LBI. Sixteen of us from all over the mid-Atlantic showed up on a Friday afternoon. House was in great condition, fully stocked kitchen, and atmospheric rooftop with a great view of the entire island. Tom and Mary Ann were fantastic hosts, very helpful up to the arrival and then letting us enjoy their beautiful space on our own over the weekend. Had folks coming from everywhere and it was a nice central location with a nice beach nearby. House is in good condition, clean, lots of parking (we parked six cars) and plenty of space for everyone to sleep comfortably. Huge dining table in the ground floor allowed our entire group to eat together. Good restaurants, liquor store, supplies nearby - easy access by walking and with car access to even other areas. We would be glad to come back and thank you for the awesome time!!! read more

I spent a week at the house and enjoyed my time greatly. The space has a relaxing beach house atheistic while also maintaining a modern look. THE KITCHEN WAS INCREDIBLE! Perfect for cooking large family meals or just simply having space for everyone to make breakfast. Rooms are comfortable and as stated earlier the décor modern beach house. Plenty of bathrooms as well. Also, it is merely two houses from the beach, 30 second walk and you are on the beach with beautiful waves and sand staring back at you. The house was the perfect as a home base for adventures around the island and on the beach as well as comfortable enough games and movies and meals on a rainy day. I've attended 3 different business gatherings at the Beach House Retreat and it is the PERFECT place! If you are planning an office meeting or girls Weekend or business seminar, family reunion, birthday party.....any time you need a large but intimate space you must consider coming here! Let your ideas flow.........with a home setting opposed to a hotel where there really aren't meeting rooms on LBI. There is a large table to congregate with a sitting area. There is also the outdoor space. Plenty of sleeping too if you are staying overnight or the weekend. Steps to the beach is an added bonus. Absolutely wonderful!" From first contact through our arrival back home, Tom and Mary ann were most accommodating, willing to consider alternate arrival and departure times. Our extended family vacation included my Oxygen dependent mother, and Mary ann escorted me to reserve a (free) beach wheel chair for her. Everything in the description was true, but it just doesn't accurately reflect how amply the kitchen and entertainment areas are stocked. The location is perfect; there are restaurants and shops to walk to, but you are not in the noisy commercial part of the island. The lifeguarded beach is clean and just steps away; no problem getting the young and old back to the house for snacks or potty breaks. read more

This is a clean and very comfortable home with an amazing kitchen, great hot tub on the rooftop, lots of other amenities, and located only a few steps away from the beach! After checking in, the hosts, Mary Anne and Tom, reached out to see if we needed anything or had any questions. We did, so they answered our questions and offered to show us around the house. They were friendly and easy to talk with, really great people, and as hosts they were very responsive and made us feel right at home without intruding on our privacy. Beach House Retreats is the perfect house if one is looking for a rental with a large capacity, that's close to the beach, and is available to attractions. It was spotless, and the decorating was adorable (plus a hot tub). It has a great kitchen and congregating space for large gatherings. It's two houses from the beach, allowing easy and frequent trips. This house is also within walking distance to many ice cream shops, a downtown, and grocery stores. I definitely recommend if one is looking for a large rental for either family gatherings or a business retreat. read more

My group had an incredible beach vacation at the house. It was perfect for our size. The hot tub on the roofdeck was awesome! The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed. Everything about the property was ideal. The beach is only steps away, and there were plenty of chairs, boogie boards, and umbrellas for all. Year after year I am pleasantly surprised to the personal upgrades this rental offers. You get a sense they not only read their reviews but positively react to them. This rental has every detail for comfort and relaxation covered. There were 16 people in our family gathering and there was plenty of room to never feel crowed. My side of the family rented the house for our wedding weekend on September 19th - 22nd, 2019. The house accommodated very comfortably 11 people. Our rehearsal dinner of 30 people was held at the house and the dinning table provided was perfect. The backyard was a great space to hang out and the roof deck has the best views I've seen in LBI. We were extremely happy with the house and would highly recommend renting from Mary Ann and her husband, they were wonderful to deal with. read more

My wife and I and a few other couples stayed here over the weekend for the Lighthouse International Film Festival. This place is big and beautiful, with top notch amenities and within a few steps of the beach. It hasn't been affected by Hurricane Sandy in any way, and the owners were supremely accommodating. I honestly have nothing but superlatives to describe this house and experience. I'd highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing beach weekend. read more

We had a fantastic week at the house in August. Hot tub and porch on the roof were great - especially at sunset! Location to the beach (5 minute walk) was so convenient. Really appreciated that lots of beach chairs and a few umbrellas were available at the house for our use. Lots of stores and restaurants easily accessible. House was laid out nicely for a big group. Mary Ann and Tom are fantastic and welcoming hosts and their house more than lives up to the gorgeous pictures. The entire property is filled with personality and class-- just try not to smile when you notice the bust of David in the front window as you arrive. The amenities (including a roof-top hot tub!!!) are well maintained and the beach is a (barefoot) walk away. I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this house. read more

My whole group had an excellent time. The house is spacious and really convenient to the beach. About a 30 second walk! The house was very spacious and clean, the rooftop hot tub is an incredibly special amenity you won't find anywhere else, and you can't beat staying on the beach block.
