To start, you have to call for availability and to book a room. You will likely talk to Joe, one of the owners, who always seems to run the front desk. Joe is a TOTAL sweetheart. He made the booking process easy and simple and wished us safe travels on our way to the Motel. We were also going to be arriving a bit late and Joe kept the front desk open so we could pick up our keys! The rooms are so cute and have almost everything you need for a weekend away. We had a fridge, microwave, tv, and Keurig in our room. The only think that seemed to be missing was a hairdryer so be sure to bring your own when you come! One of the best things about the Motel was that Joe gave us a ton of suggestions for restaurants and things to do on the coast. The Islander Motel also provides beach tags for guests so you don't have to buy a daily one at the beach. Our stay at the Islander Motel was awesome! Joe was the best tenant you could ask for and we were amazed by the customer service. The room was extraordinary and very clean. We had room 1A and had a large bathroom with a beautiful tub and sink. Each room had hangers, a tv with Apple TV, a k-cup coffee machine, and two full beds that fit me my husband and son. Each room had rocking chairs outside and we were able to sit and watch the sunset from the room. Everything was in walking distance and i would say we will be coming back. The day before our check-in we were told that we had to be moved to a first floor standard room, and that floor choices were not guaranteed. Right where I have to put my face. Lovely. Also . The room is extremely, damp ! Everything feels wet all of the time. I believe it is due to the fact that the bathroom doesn't have a fan , which I understand isn't necessary if you have a window in the bathroom, but I think at a beachfront hotel should have a fan in the bathroom to prevent the dampness. And because it is so damp , there is mold on the blinds in the bathroom. Shown in picture. Anyway - the furniture is all chewed up underneath- also due to dampness. I drop something on the floor and had to look under the bed for it, and it was certainly a sight to see.! don't look under the bed just ignore it They only give you 3 flat pillows per bed. You can ask for more but every pillow is flat. And when the woman brought it out to me, I'm not even sure if she had washed her hands before touching the pillow, and she had the pillow snuggled up against her chest when she carried it out It smelled like her perfume, and I wasn't happy with that. The towels have stains and are very thin and rough! The staff was rude and not friendly. I will probably never stay here again. Sorry

The day before we arrived, we called and asked if it would be possible to upgrade rooms. They told us nothing is a guarantee, but that they would certainly make note of it in our reservation. To our surprise, when we arrived, we were upgraded to a Penthouse Suite! Our room was relatively clean, nicely decorated, a wonderful view and included a mini kitchen. We are fully enjoying our stay, here and would definitely come back. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: - resort is directly on the beach - beautiful and quiet NJ shore town, nothing like Wildwood or Seaside - the staff is all incredibly kind and helpful, they really want to make sure you are happy - restaurant in parking lot, lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance - room is comfortable and reasonably clean - nice rooftop view in penthouse suite - indoor pool - washer/dryer available for a smal fee - small game room - activities for children - drink and snack vending machines on site - nicely kept hotel all around - beach tags included Cons: - bed is a bit bouncy/springy - floor could have been swept a bit better in room - restaurant on site uses hotel parking lot for patrons' cars...the valet people park cars awfully close and in awkward places making it difficult to navigate for those trying to leave the hotel parking lot. I found it absurd that a huge truck was parked directly behind my car. I could barely get out and was within inches of hitting this truck. Thankfully I'm a descent driver. The hotel should really look into a better, safer...more sane parking option. - water pressure isn't very good - you have to call the front desk if you'd like ice - no daily room service, I understand this is a resort, but they charge $27 for "tidying up" your room, if you request it
