I was apprehensive going to these Beach Hut places because the few times I had their menu seemed so overwhelmingly confusing. weird names, too many choices etc. etc. until I was assured by one the employees that I should just order what I want and they would do some Beach Hut voodoo and make it work!!! well, time has passed since i started coming here (2+years) and needless to say I am a converted fan. First off.. The Sammy's are dee-lish... normal sized ones is too much food for a dainty flower like myself....a 3 incher (small) is perfect...if you and your partner like sharing, a 6er will satisfy you both just nicely. secondly, this BH crew on 24th is fire...sweet, nice and friendly, polite and...sometimes funny. More importantly, fully trained and experienced. AND ...the food is fresh: bread, meats veggies etc. the place is always clean and maintained. I have heard some complaints about how long it may take for an order, but if you ever see this crew during a rush I can testify that it's all hands on deck to get food out as quickly as possible..(see pix...of them cranking out food for a line almost out the door)!!! Also, This is not just an established neighborhood gathering place.It is A genuine local eatery for the lunch crowd and an afternoon hang out for friends and family. BUT...the food is really what it's all about. Yes, the menu can be daunting yet i have found faves: Cali Cabrese, Surfing Bird (made my way)..and other stuff that was recommended...i keep asking for new suggestions.. Tried the vegan meatball sandwich was absolutely delicious and I LOVE that thus location offers a vegan menu ...but, 2 tiny meatballs on the small? Seriously? Come on guys. My bill came to $15 with a drink and I was left wanting more and sorely dissatisfied with the tiny quantity of meat. Thought what could go wrong, been wanting to try this place. 20 minutes later they took the time to stop gossiping and sharing messages on phones to put my sandwich on the counter and call my name. Came here after having a job in the area. I've been to other Beach Hut Deli's but never this one. The person who greeted me behind the counter was very welcoming and nice. Place is very small and parking can kind of be hectic to find depending on the time you go here I suppose, but I found parking quick. I ordered the Shark Bite sandwich and it was delicious! Something about having the cream cheese with it just hit so hard. Overall, solid spot and definitely would come back to try more off the menu. read more

THEY DONT USE GLOVES. I went in on a Monday afternoon while doing my laundry up the street, the two women behind the counter were drinking and cheersing eachother... Very unprofessional when they have their children walking around the shop, after that I saw one of the women making my sandwhich while using her BARE hands I got a French dip and she grabbed the meat off the paper and I wanted to gag. For being a place that makes sandwiches. There are plenty of better options for a better price as well. I live in midtown and I have ordered from this location two days in a row with issues both times. The first issue was their internet wasn't working so they weren't able to see/make your order until you got there. I thought ok, things happen- my sandwhich was delicious! So today, I ordered from them again. My order said it would be done at 7:26 PM. My boyfriend arrives there and the gentleman working there said he was behind on orders and my sandwhich won't be done until 8 PM. My sandwhich wasn't finished until 8:15 PM. I understand things happen, but after two issues with both my orders the last two days- I won't be returning. I have never been to Beach Hut but decided to order a quick dinner through Postmates. I went with the tuna sandwich (~$8) on regular-sized whole wheat bread. It came with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and cheese. And the tuna, of course. The delivery arrived in 30 minutes, as expected, which I was pretty glad about. However, my sandwich was cold and the cheese wasn't even slightly melted. This was extremely disappointing and definitely took away from the taste of the overall sandwich. In addition, the tuna itself was kind of dry. I'm not sure how Beach Hut makes its tuna salad, but it seemed to need more condiments in the tuna salad as well as the sandwich. Overall, it was a mediocre experience. I might give it another try in the future, but as of right now, I'm not eager to come back. read more

I ordered the Righteous Reuben, and it was a disappointing experience for a few reasons. First, the wait times when ordering online are always kind of long. We ordered right at 11am, opening time. The wait for 2 sandwiches was still 25 minutes. Ok, not ideal but also not hugely shocking since we've ordered here before. However, apparently that was not a good estimate given how soggy my sandwich was at pickup. My guess is it sat for 15 minutes. Bread was soggy on both sides and it fell apart. On top of that, the combination of flavors just wasn't good. Which is weird because they are pretty straightforward. The meat quality was ok, but sometimes Beach Hut just misses the mark with it's combos, and this is one of them. I threw this sandwich in the trash and got takeout elsewhere. I have been going to beach hut on J street for years now... I have always had the best customer service and the best sandwiches... I mean yes are the sandwiches $15 yes but they are huge and filled with cream cheese and so much meat... today I finally got the worst sandwich ... I always get the shark bite... I know whats exactly in that sandwich... so today it wasn't toasted... missing cream cheese... no Tabasco .... No bbq... missing everything that belongs on the sandwich... it was white bread , ham, cheese and lettuce and one tomato that's all and was the flattest sandwich I have ever seen... only reason I spend $30 on two sandwiches is because they are loaded!!! Nope both our sandwiches were bad I posted pics for reference.... Oh Beach Hut, what would I do without you? Been coming to this place for years and its still as epic and exciting as ever. I never get tired of this location or the folks here. The sandwiches are gigantic -- like even the smalls are enormous and packed with all that fresh goodness (tomatoes, onions, guac, banana peppers, jalapeños, cucumber, etc.) I live for the Skinny Dipper (roast beef, melted cheese w/ au jus sauce) or the Surfin' Bird (Turkey, avocado, bacon and cream cheese) depending on my mood and the weather. Now for the best part, la cerveza! I live for what the BH staff calls pink eye (I didn't pick the name!). It's 3/4 parts Alohawk and 1/4 part pomegranate cider. I don't even know where to begin to tell you how much I love that beer. I drink it by the liter's (literally) and for 6 dollars a pop what's not to like?! The seating area outside is always ideal. You get to enjoy that warm summer heat with your icey cold beer and fresh sandwich...what more could you want?! Maybe Ill even be lucky enough to take my last breaths here....(ok, or not). There is also an additional seating area in the back that is not often advertised. The Managers will typically open it up during their busier hours, but I imagine if they're staffed enough you can make an ask and they will happily oblige. BH Midtown is one of my favorite places to go on a friday after work so drop in one of these days and give it a try! :) read more

Been to this midtown location twice, first time a small veggie Monterey, then the second time sharing a large Santa Cruz. I had seen/heard of Beach Hut in Davis, Natomas, and Elk Grove but didn't actually try it until this spring. Midtown has its own parking lot for customers, thank goodness. Eat indoors by the TVs and arcade machines or outside on the patio. Bathroom requires a key from the counter...The counter, by the way, is way tall for someone like me (I'm only 5'1"!) so suffice to say, signing a receipt for an order is a tippy-toe challenge to say the least, haha. The sandwiches are enormous, and this is coming from someone who has been known to eat fairly large portions on her own. I think what does it for me is the cream cheese, the same effect as cream cheese in sushi rolls -- fill you up! A little pricey but decent sandwiches when you get the craving for something better than Subway or Togos but not as fancy as Sampinos. read more
