I was super excited when sweet greens opened a location in the downtown/Midtown area of Of Sacramento. Parking is pretty impossible, and most people will order food to go either from the app or the kiosk at the counter. Diners tip: use the app if this is a place that you will frequent because they do offer specials and there is a point system. They offer a variety of salads that are already created on their menu, or you can pretty much create your own. Most if not all of their offerings are pretty healthy, and if you're looking to increase your protein, your veggies, or just have a good meal, this place is for you! My last visit was a little rough. I actually lucked out and found a place to park, so of course, I thought that it was kismet for me to be able to dine in. The one thing that I don't like about ordering at the kiosk is that there isn't anyone that can answer questions or assist you with your order. It makes the process feel more complicated than it needs to be. I had wanted to ask about one of the dressings, and possibly add a different one to my order, and ended up having to wing it. Keep in mind there are people working behind the counter, but they're not there at least for my experience to help the customer. You pretty much place your order and they may or may not call you when it's ready. I had planned to dine in, and after waiting more than 10 minutes for my order, I asked at the Pick Up counter about it and found out that somebody had forgotten to make my salad. Then when it was ready, it was given to me in a to go bag. I took that as a sign that I wasn't meant to dine in... Sadly, I should have checked my order anyway, before I left the restaurant. As it turns out, my salad was missing a number of items that I had wanted and paid for such as extra protein, and different salad add-ins. What I did receive was OK but definitely not good and nowhere near great. This definitely was an expensive lesson and one that I don't need to learn again.

Honestly can't go wrong with a build your own salad. All their ingredients here are fresh and delicious. I do with they had better steak options for how well done it is but I'm thinking they get their steak pre packaged. Only gripe about the proteins. Other than that it's pretty self serve with cute seating but I prefer to go. (:

You cannot go wrong with a sweet green salad. Delicious every time. The staff at this location are speedy and provide great service. The ingredients are as fresh as ever. Worth the price in my opinion as this feeds two or could be two meals - portion control allows makes up for the price guys. The ambiance in midtown is great. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The bathrooms were clean and the sink is accessible without code for handwashing. I'd recommend this place to everyone and I'm beyond stoked to have a sweet green as I had this in pasedena and I was soooo excited when I found out midtown was getting a location.

We were so excited to have lunch after walking the Farmers Market. I have been dreaming of the crispy rice salad since I had my first one off of Arden! Sadly, the crispy was nonexistent and my salad was full of just mushy rice! Ugh the fam enjoyed wraps and the shroomy salad. Third time will hopefully be a charm!

First time at Sweetgreen and I'm a fan! I'm glad they brought it over Sac - it's a great healthy option for the area. I also appreciate that they source ingredients locally and use eco-friendly products. The space is clean and well-organized, and you can clearly see how the ingredients are stored. Ordering is easy, whether through their app or the self-serve kiosk. I went with the Caramelized Garlic Steak protein plate and added a few extra toppings, which did bring the total up more than expected. The portion felt a bit small for the price, but the quality made up for it. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and really well put together--each bite was delicious and fresh. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu.

Came here for lunch and we made it right on time. Right after we ordered and sat down a line of people came in. They had self service tablets to order from. I thought it was a pretty intuitive for anyone even for people coming for the first time like us. Pro tip, whatever you order you should opt for at least two portions of dressing. I didn't think one was enough and you can choose different flavors if you want to try something else. They had some seating available inside and outside but be prepared to take your order to go.

Our friend Cecilia has been raving about this place for a year now. She has even bought stock in the company. We saw one in SF the last time we were there, but weren't ready to sit down for a meal. Recently they opened up this location in the Ice Blocks, I had no idea it was there till I was on Yelp today looking for somewhere to eat dinner and it popped up. It's not located in the heart of the Ice Blocks near Shake Shake and Sees Candy. It's on S and 17th Street closer to Ernesto's Mexican Food. If you are facing Mendocino Farms go to the left of the building down the street behind Mendocino Farms and it's on the Corner of the next street. I'm sorry if I'm not describing the location well, but it's hard to find. We parked in front of Shake Shack in the metered parking. We used the parking app and paid around $3.25 for an hour. It was plenty of time as it's more of a fast food restaurant where you order using an app, you can pay with cash or card, they make your order and. You get a text when it's ready. If you choose to pay cash when the food is ready they check you out. When you approach SweetGreen you will see some outdoor seating. It was warmer outside than it was inside. When you go into SweetGreens they all greet you with a warm welcome. They have some tables lining the wall to the left. There have a sign directing you to the kiosks for you to order on your left. They have 3 kiosks and a menu on the wall that is digital. We sat down and looked at the menu before ordering as it was our first time there. Celcila recommended the Harvest Bowl so that is what we got. We left everything as is with the exception of the dressing. They said up to 3 so I choose 3. I though they would give you 3 containers of dressing so you could try them all, but instead they put all 3 dressings on the salad. I chose the one it came with, green goddess, and a ginger one. Thankfully the mixture was delicious. If you get the harvest bowl with out making any changes it comes with chicken, kale, sweet potatoes (I wish there were more. There was one big one then a sliver of one or two), red cabbage, goat cheese (They give you 2 scoops, it's very good, you have to scoop a little with each forkful.), apples (they said they were in there, but I didn't find any, roasted almonds (There were plenty of those, they added a nice crunch.), wild rice, 760 calories $14.45. I love the low Calories. We should have ordered 2 different things and shared them. Instead we ordered the one harvest bowl and shared it. Then we came home and split a can of soup so were were full after that. I really wanted to try the salmon protein plate. I really enjoyed the bowl. It was very tasty, but I really wish there were more sweet potatoes. I liked that they were warm on a cool winters night. The biggest con and why we didn't order another dish, even though I was ready to, was it was cold inside and my husband was uncomfortable due to it was cold and he even had a sports coat on. I agree it was cold in there and the cold air was blowing on us as we were sitting and eating. In the end I really liked the food, it appeared to be nutritious, and I try to be healthy so, yes I reccomend SweetGreens and I'd eat here again, but I would sit in another spot and hopefully it will be warmer. I saw some seats around the corner from the service area on the way to the bathrooms. Maybe it will be warmer over there. I went back the next day with my girlfriend to share a healthy meal together. She ordered the harvest bowl and got much more sweet potatoes than I did the day before. I tried the chicken and avocado bowl with kale instead of reg lettuce and it wasn't as good. Both had light dressing, but the chicken avocado was too light. Next time I'll order medium dressing. I would not order the Chicken avocado bowl again. It was just too plain even though this time I was able to see the apples as last night the harvest bowl I couldn't see any apples.

Finally tried Sweetgreen and I'm impressed. Sacramento needed a solid, fresh salad spot like this. Everything tasted super clean and high quality -- the greens were crisp, the toppings didn't feel skimpy, and the dressing actually had flavor (not watery like some places). I ordered a bowl with roasted chicken and added a few extras. The portion was filling without feeling heavy, which I appreciate. You can tell the ingredients are fresh, and it doesn't feel like "fast food" even though it's quick and efficient. The space itself is modern and bright, and the line moved fast. Staff was friendly and didn't rush me while I was deciding. It's definitely a little pricier than grabbing a basic lunch, but honestly, you get what you pay for. I'll definitely be back -- especially when I want something healthy that still tastes good.

I first tried sweetgreen in New York while there for a few weeks. I was tired of exploring and indulging and felt like a salad. Ever since then, I've been hoping they'd eventually make their way to Sacramento. IT'S TIME! I've now gone a handful of times, from the soft opening to weeknights and weekends. The staff is always happy to take the time to provide excellent service. I still haven't figured out a way to get three dressings on the side AND a slice of lemon for my Crispy Rice bowl, but they're always happy to oblige after I place the order! There's not TOO much seating, but I've also never seen every seat full, so it seems most people do takeout or eat quickly enough to turn over seating. Wouldn't recommend it for a big group, but if you're a party of 1-3 you'll be able to find seating without an issue. The food itself has always been consistently fresh, tasty, and enjoyable. The menu changes surprisingly often for a chain, and while my personal go-to is the Crispy Rice bowl, I've branched out a few times to the specials and haven't been disappointed. My partner always goes for some variant of the Harvest bowl and says the goat cheese is her absolute favorite part (and a discontinued basil dressing...hoping they bring that back someday)! Whenever I'm feeling guilty about eating out, especially post-dine-downtown, I usually make a trip out to eat a liiiitttlle healthier while still having that convenience of not having to cook or do the dishes.

So so customizable and convenient. I know so many people would scoff at a salad as a meal, but this place will really make you reconsider. They pack their salads with proteins and great quality ingredients. I have never eaten a salad here and felt hungry afterwards. The service is quick and convenient, especially if you order online. The ambiance is a bit like a Chipotle, grab and go, but the entire establishment is clean and modern. I ordered a harvest bowl with sweet potatoes, wild rice, and chicken. Honestly, order what you think you will like and that's the best order. I did discover the spicy roasted broccoli as a fabulous addition too. I love their green goddess dressing and the pesto one. You can also order your salad to come with the ingredients mixed or not, spending on when you want to eat it.

Sweetgreen delivered a super smooth free pop-up event--well organized, efficient, and easy from start to finish. Quality ingredients, solid variety, and the 10-topping limit keeps bowls intentional (no chaos salads here). The automated ordering system makes it effortless to switch things up every visit, which I loved--perfect for a quick lunch or dinner on the go. Only note: I've noticed frequent outages, which can be frustrating given the tech-forward setup. That said, when it's running, it runs well. Fresh, fast, and reliable for everyday eats.

New healthy eats in Midtown! sweetgreen opened their Midtown location in November, and it's been a great addition to the food scene in the R Street Corridor. I've been twice, and overall, I'm satisfied with their food and love their customizations. Portion sizes are generous, and both times I've had enough food to bring a second serving home. I've ordered the Garlic Parm Cauli Bowl and Harvest Bowl. The rosemary bread is a must, and it's complimentary with bowls, so make sure to add it to your order! I like that you're able to customize your bowls to your liking, but it can get a little cumbersome doing so in store at one of three tablets. There's essentially no service, and this is more of a grab and go spot, even though both times I've opted to dine in. The restaurant is clean and chic, and there's limited indoor and outdoor seating. Pro tip: if you create an account, order through the app to maximize your points!

I will say that being a loyal follower of "Sweetgreen" on social media for several years, the anticipation of one opening in the Sacramento area was a very pleasant surprise. I had been to one of their locations in the Bay Area as well as the Los Angeles area so I was no stranger to their concept. Located at the corner of 17th & S St's in the heart of Midtown Sacramento, this very popular salad company finally debuted on Wednesday 11/26/2025. I ended up coming here just a couple days later during the afternoon of Friday 11/28/2025 at around 1:30pm. This area can get a little tough to park as you are in close proximity to Ice Blocks as well as a Safeway store that is just a couple blocks away. As for their other locations, this rabidly popular company currently has around 250 brick-and-mortar restaurants in 24 states (as of late-2025). A second Sacramento location is located at Howe Ave/Fair Oaks Blvd (which opened in December 2025). In all honesty, I am quite surprised that it took this long for Sacramento to jump on the Sweetgreen bandwagon. As for the interior layout, this place offers limited seating (as many people take their salads to-go) as well as a dedicated pick-up area and a dedicated ordering station (similar to that of a Chipotle). I also wanted to add that there are two gender-neutral restrooms towards the rear of the building. Before dining here, I highly recommend downloading the Sweetgreen app (on Apple/Android devices) to help simplify the process. This is where they have "featured" bowls that are the most popular as well as salads, protein plates, sides, desserts, drinks, and kids meals. What I particularly like is that you can customize any bowl of your liking. Everything that ranges from kale, arugala, quinoa, rice etc. to veggies, nuts, breadcrumbs as a topping, and for premium toppings, they offer antibiotic-free proteins; chicken, steak, tofu, and much more. With the amount of creations that are available, the possibilities are absolutely endless. I ended up ordering (on the app) the "Steak Honey Crunch" salad; this consisted of caramelized garlic steak, tomatoes, garlic breadcrumbs, pickles onions, herbed quinoa, chopped romaine, and hot honey mustard sauce. I also opted for roasted sweet potatoes as a side. My lady went with their "Chicken Pesto Parm" bowl which also offered a ton of delicious, nutritious, and filling toppings. Total time it took from when we placed our online order to when it was ready took a total of 8 minutes. Once we made our way into the building, both our orders were ready with our names listed in bold font in the pick-me-up area. Now the most important part, how did this taste? I will say that all ingredients are fresh and with the amount of quinoa, greens and steak, the amount of fiber & protein kept me full throughout the entire afternoon. And for $18 (after tax), it was a bit on the higher end than what I'd like to pay but it was nonetheless a delicious salad. Interestingly enough, we both made no interaction with the staff as everything was done virtually through the app. They do offer recycled utensils & napkins while their trash bins distinguished metals, plastics, and compost items. All in all, "Sweetgreen" is a breath of fresh air to come to the Sacramento area as this area needs more healthy options. As I already had a general idea of what to expect, the food, location, and ambiance hit all the high notes. My rating, a perfect five stars.

Sweet potatoes were great. Beet salad was delicious. Broccoli was unremarkable, but not bad. Brisket and Mac was amazing. Couple of service hiccups which were quickly and politely remedied. You order at the counter and they'll give you a number for your table and bring your order to you as soon as it's ready. Some people aren't a fan of this concept since they are essentially asking you to tip ahead. It doesn't bother me, but I figured I'd bring it up so people are aware. We opted for the bucket of fried chicken with sides. We chose the corn bread, mac and cheese, red beans and rice and a side salad. My wife loved the corn bread. The mac and cheese was great and was cheesy and creamy and had some nicely browned cheesy bites which I love. The red beans and rice had little chunks of meat and a great flavor profile; however it was a little watery for my liking. The salad was crisp and fresh. The fried chicken was nice and crunchy and juicy. I would've liked a little more herbs and spices in the batter, but it was tasty nonetheless. Next time I'll probably try a sandwich and definitely won't forget to grab more of the delicious mac and cheese. There's a cool speakeasy, The Roost in the back. We didn't have time to scope it out, but there's supposed to be a great whiskey list and it looks pretty nice.

I was also able to grab some ketchup to enjoy those fries. My burger and fries was delivered and there were more fries than expected. I focused on those first because who like cold fries, right??? The fries were actually pretty good, an above average standard French fry with salt. The burger however was phenomenal. There was an amazing crust on the outside reminiscent of a backyard bbq. There was ample bacon, lettuce, cheese and sauce to make it a balanced bite. The bun was high end brioche style, they really went all out on quality of ingredients. A standard burger build but done perfectly! Beer was cold, food was great and the ambiance is a perfect local bar. Great spot to go if you don't mind hunting for a parking space.

The sandwich was served hot, cooked through, fantastically grilled bread and served in a timely manner. OH MY GOD, so delicious. The watermelon tea drink was ok, not just my thing. Nothing wrong with it, just I wouldn't order again. Both indoor seating and outdoor patio tables with misters. Very loud inside but lots of tables and room. When we walked up to the counter we were greeted by the cashier and we were asked if we had any questions. We did not and so we placed our order and paid and was given a number for our table. The fries came out first and we were looking forward to them but sadly they were lukewarm and soft. I wished they were hotter and more crunchy. I had the Blackened Salmon Cobb salad and it was so refreshing and delicious. You cant tell from the photo but the salad did have avocado, blue cheese, tomato, egg, grilled corn, pickled radish, green onion, and lemon-herb vinaigrette. It was at the bottom of the bowl which kind of made it hard to mix. I wish it was on top of the romaine. My husband said the tri tip was good. The bread was fresh and the meat was perfectly flavored!

I remember 25 years ago when their only location was mid-town and the food was very good and you usually had to wait in line. Those days are gone forever.

She had her…read moreservice dog with her, so we picked a dog friendly place to eat... that lead us to Jack's Urban Eats. I was surprised it was not busier. As we walked up, we liked that there was outdoor seating available... bc we like to people watch, and the midtown farmers market was definitely buzzing. When we walked in, it was very clean. There were tables and booths available next to the big bright windows. We checked out the menu on the wall and while she used the restroom, I ordered our food. She got the bbq chicken sandwich, and I got the turkey club. I paid at the register then grabbed our number, which you put on the end of the table so they can deliver your food to you. We first decided to sit inside at a booth next to the window, but the tables were pretty close to the benches, and they couldn't be adjusted. Our food just happen to be brought to our table, so I picked up our plates and we easily found a spot to sit outside. I'm not sure if you buy something from the farmers market and then allowed to sit here and eat, but there were others bringing their food from the over to eat. My sister enjoyed her bbq chicken sandwich. The bbq sauce was good and they put crispy onions on it. I am not a fan of the turkey club. I felt like the bread is too thick. The turkey was pretty thin and bland. Not enough mayo or avocado. Zero seasonings. I boxed it up and gave it to my sister, who also boxed the rest of hers up. I may not be a fan, but if there's something on the menu that you recommend, let me know.

On the very first bite, the garlicky aioli and spicy arugula stood out, while the toasted sourdough had a great chew along with thick slices of maple glazed bacon, heirloom tomatoes, and avocado. This sandwich was made fresh to order for $12.95 This location is very spacious with plenty of indoor seating and a large patio. It was a windy evening so we decided to sit inside. Parking may be an issue since the area is so busy, but you can find parking usually within a block a two.
