    Welcome to...

15 YEARS OF MARRIAGE... AND WE CELEBRATED BY FINALLY EATING SOMEWHERE WE'VE DRIVEN PAST A MILLION TIMES. Well, well, well... Urban Plates, look at you finally getting our attention! For our 15th anniversary, my wife and I decided to sneak away for a little lunch date. We wanted something relatively light because we were trying to save room--and more importantly, ENERGY--for dinner later. Ya know... because apparently 15 years of marriage comes with a limited daily battery percentage. I've driven past Urban Plates more times than I can count. I've driven past the restaurant, past the parking lot, probably past the same parking space I should've parked in 100 times... and NEVER stopped. Today we were on a "try what you see, don't cry about it" type of adventure. So here we are! Walking in, the setup immediately caught my attention. At first glance, I see what looks like a fresh-brewed coffee station. Then I realized... WAIT A MINUTE... THEM ARE BREWSKIES! Yes, they have beer. Now THAT'S how you sneak up on somebody. We weren't completely sure what we wanted, but luckily they have a kiosk that makes ordering pretty simple. You can scroll through the options and actually see pictures of what you're ordering, which I appreciate. Because sometimes restaurant descriptions will have you thinking you're ordering some gourmet masterpiece and then your plate arrives looking like it needs a therapist. Prices were decent. A little higher than some quick-service spots, but honestly, considering the atmosphere, presentation, and overall experience, I felt it was worth it. And yes... I've been on my old-man hype lately. I've been missing my big newspapers and everything. Give me a newspaper, some coffee, and a comfortable chair and I'll start complaining about gas prices within 11 minutes. ANYWAY... BACK TO THE FOOD! I ordered the salmon, well done, with the smoked/grilled preparation, potato medley, macaroni and cheese, and a side of aioli. And yes, I know what you're thinking... "Isn't this dude supposed to be eating keto?" Listen. IT'S OUR ANNIVERSARY. The keto police can come find me later. I also grabbed the Dragon Fruit Strawberry Refresher, which was pretty refreshing and went nicely with the meal. The food didn't take too long to come out. The salmon was good. The potatoes? Then came the Mac & Cheese. And this is where the plot thickened... Literally. Because the Mac came out cold. I stared at it. It stared back. We both knew this relationship wasn't going anywhere. It started out like a bad date--cold, awkward, and leaving me questioning my life choices. But then Ms. Christine noticed my face and stepped right in. She was extremely helpful, polite, and genuinely sweet about the situation. She took the bowl back and brought me a fresh one. Did she throw the first bowl away? I hope so. I'm kidding! But the replacement? THE RETURN OF THE MAC. NOW WE'RE TALKING! The second Mac & Cheese was much better. Nice breadcrumb crust on top, creamy cheese sauce, and plenty enjoyable. I honestly think the sauce may have been vegan , but at that point I wasn't conducting a scientific investigation. I was eating. But honestly, the food wasn't even the biggest reason I'm giving this place five stars. It was the customer service. I left feeling noticed, welcomed, and appreciated. And THAT matters. Things happen. Food can come out wrong. Nobody is perfect. What makes the difference is how someone handles it when something does go sideways. Christine handled it with kindness and professionalism, and I really appreciated that. So our first Urban Plates experience just happened to land on our 15th wedding anniversary. Not a bad way to discover a new spot. There are still plenty of things on the menu I want to try, so yes... I'll be back. If you've never been, give Urban Plates a shot. Healthy food, quick service, a comfortable atmosphere, plenty of options, and a staff that actually makes you feel like they're happy you showed up. And apparently... BEER. So Urban Plates, congratulations. After all these years of me driving past you, you finally got me through the door. And now that I've eaten here, I have only one question: WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?! Well... actually, I have two questions. WHO'S MAKING THE NEXT BOWL OF MAC & CHEESE? BECAUSE ME AND THE RETURN OF THE MAC HAVE SOME UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Until next time, Urban Plates... Keep the salmon coming, keep the Mac warm, and somebody hide my credit card before I start ordering the whole menu. 5 stars.

-- Cute concept, but the food needs some personality I picked Urban Plates because it looked like a nice, healthier option, especially since Sean is doing keto and I was trying to find somewhere that worked for both of us. The inside is cute, modern, and has that polished "healthy California food" look. Once we ordered from the kiosk and sat down, though, I realized this is basically fast food for healthy food--just with a much higher price tag. I ordered the Braised Beef & Mushroom Bowl with mashed potatoes. It looked like a substantial bowl, but there were maybe six tiny pieces of beef in the entire thing. I spent most of the meal eating mashed potatoes and floppy onions, wondering where the rest of the beef went. And the seasoning? Practically nonexistent. It needed salt, flavor, personality... something. Sean got the salmon and actually liked his meal, and he'd definitely come back. He makes this kind of food at home all the time, though, and even he said he would have seasoned it more. So clearly I'm not the target audience here. We also ordered the mac and cheese to share, and that arrived ice cold. Not "could use another minute" cold. Refrigerator cold. We sent it back, they made a fresh one, and about ten minutes later it came out piping hot. The woman helping us was very nice and even gave us a cookie for the trouble, so I appreciated how they handled the mistake. The bathroom, unfortunately, was another story. It was filthy, and I have pictures to prove it. For a restaurant with such a clean, polished dining area, the condition of the bathroom was a pretty jarring contrast. Overall, the food wasn't bad. It just wasn't good enough for the price. I can make this kind of healthy food at home, season it properly, and probably put a whole lot more beef in my bowl. Sean would come back. I wouldn't. But I'll give them this: the concept is solid, the restaurant is cute, and there's a Cold Stone right next door, so at least I know where I'm going for dessert.

The ambience in here is nice, but the food was a bit disappointing. We stopped by because we were looking for something healthy for lunch during our afternoon out. I normally don't go for a Caesar salad, but it sounded crisp and refreshing. I opted for a piece of salmon and a cup of the tomato basil soup. My salmon was so overcooked and dry that it was a shame. I could've more easily overlooked it, but my salad dressing was also quite sparse, so the whole meal was kind of dry. The tomatoes on the salad had zero flavor. That is surprising being that we are in the bread basket of the United States and all of the produce here is usually amazing. I did think that the grilled bread that came with it was delicious. I was also disappointed in the tomato basil soup. It was very sweet. I know they typically will put a touch of sugar in there to balance out some of the tartness, but it was over the top. The people that worked there were very nice and they were doing a great job keeping the restaurant clean. I've been to Urban Plates before in a different market and thought it was quite good. I would try them one more time, but obviously the salmon and Caesar salad is not the dish to order there.

Came to Urban Plates for the first time for lunch with my girlfriend. It looked liked a really good healthy option, so we decided to go there. We ordered the following; Drinks: Pineapple Coconut Lime Replenisher Watermelon Pineapple Replenisher Plates: (Dish 1) Grilled Steak Plate Sesame Brocolini Ginger Turmeic Rice (Dish 2) Aleppo Grilled Salmon Plate Carrots & Beets Red & white Quinoa Rustic Bread The Aleppo Grilled Salmon was great, and I really liked the glaze it came with. Overall: Great deathly option in the Arden area, that's a little ways away from the bustle of the mall. The staff were friendly as well. I definitely would come back again.

Tried this place out for a quick lunch & it's located in a very busy area, so it can be easy to get lost. Thankfully, the parking lot was pretty big, so I was able to find a spot near the back. Upon walking up, I saw that there was a menu by the door for you to browse, along with a ton of outdoor seating. The inside of the restaurant was huge & very vibrant, with a relaxed vibe. You have the option of ordering with the host in front, at a kiosk, or at your table. We decided to order at the kiosk & were then told by the hostess that if we wanted water, it would be available at the self-serve station. We chose our table & went over to grab our waters, utensils, napkins, & pepper. Our food arrived shortly after. My tomato basil soup with pesto was pretty good, packed with tons of flavor & great for something small. My friend enjoyed her shrimp dish, but said she wasn't really a fan of the veggie medley. We finished our food pretty quickly & a worker walked up to offer us waters to go, which was really sweet since I had a long drive back! To finish things off, we got the huge chocolate chunk cookie, & that definitely hit the spot when I got home. Overall, this restaurant was a nice find with a lot of healthy options. I'll definitely have to come back to try more!

I've only DoorDashed from here. I always order their surf and turf with rainbow carrots and beets and cowgirl cookie for that time of the month. Only photo I have is their banana creme pie which is decent and my husband likes their fried chicken sandwich.

Convenient location in the heart of Arden-Arcade in the Capital City! This is Urban Plates' 1st Sacramento region AND 20th location in the entire organic fast-casual restaurant chain, and has only been open the last 2 years or so - and has been a continuous hit for those wanting to casually dine-in in a vibrant dining room atmosphere specializing in unprocessed foods made from scratch AND at a fraction of a cost from sit-down restaurants! I'm a huge follower of their Bay Area locations - notably the ones in the Bay Area - with locations in Dublin, Pleasant Hill, San Jose, and Sunnyvale - and have been a fan of their Roasted Barramundi Seabass! That has always been my go-to entree, along with their many healthy sides that I choose to satisfy my cravings! Shoutouts to their Roasted Golden Beets and Carrots, and their Ginger-Turmeric Basmati Rice! And you can't go wrong finishing off with a sweet treat - as their dessert selection is plentiful with cookies, pies, and gluten-free options - in addition to my all-time favorite, their mango tart. It's out of this world goodness within an easy grasp from their glass case of goodies! Dining at an Urban Plates not only makes you feel good about what you eat, but its expansive selection of menu items that are made fresh in-house, from scratch, every single day using clean, organic-all-the-time ingredients - are the factors of what makes me and a whole lot of 'living a healthy lifestyle' individuals take a huge interest in always hittin' up this spot to get our grub on! This place is perfect for that post workout meal, since there are many nearby gyms around the Howe and Watt Avenue vicinities! You simply can't go wrong eating good food after a good workout! Whether you're a vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, or a straight-up carnivore, Urban Plates won't get you wrong AND you will love and feel good about eating. Their service is impeccable - as their associates, chefs, and hospitality/housekeeping crew are all smiles & gives you that positive vibe once you enter the establishment. They see to it that you're enjoying your meal, as well as being polite about asking if you need drink refills or if you want your dishes to be cleared & taken care of. They simply provide an ideal atmosphere for casual and relaxed dining with a comfortable vibe and friendly hospitality.

Came here for the first time during lunch. I liked being able to order at the kiosk and the food was good! My order was only partially delivered to my table (missing dessert and salad dressing on the side), so I had to go to the counter and ask for it. Luckily the service here is great - everyone was friendly and staff came to the table multiple times to check in on us. The interior is nice and spacious, although the parking lot was crowded. I'd come back to try other menu items.

We've been passing by Urban Plates for a while and finally decided to give it a try for lunch today. I'm so glad we did because everything was simply amazing! The restaurant is spacious, clean, and has a nice outdoor dining area that's dog-friendly, which is always a plus. I also liked that you can either order at the counter or use one of their self-order kiosks. After placing your order, you grab a table number, find a seat, and they bring your food and drinks right to your table. Our server was super friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Now for the food! There are so many delicious options on the menu, and the prices are great for the portion sizes. The servings are just right--not too much and not too little. My husband ordered the chimichurri steak with mashed potatoes, and I got the chicken tenders with fries and mac and cheese. We both really enjoyed our meals. The only minor thing I wasn't a fan of was that the bread was soft. We personally prefer our bread toasted, but that's just our preference. Everything else was fantastic. Before leaving, we couldn't resist checking out the dessert case--it all looked so delicious! I ordered the chocolate vanilla lava cake, and my husband got the banana cream pie. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the banana cream pie because he couldn't wait to dig in! Overall, we had a wonderful first experience at Urban Plates. We already know what we want to order on our next visit, and we can't wait to come back. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

Grilled Grass Fed Steak with Beet Salad W. Goat Cheese and Macaroni & Cheese w. garlic parm breadcrumbs

A good lunch or dinner option with a little bit of everything for everyone. I ordered the grilled steak salad, and my boyfriend ordered the plate of grilled steak and sides. The salad was great and the portion of steak was also good. We did expect a bigger serving of the steak for the plated option, especially for the price. On the menu online it looks to be more, but that of course is also what happens at most places. They have a self service ordering kiosk, or you can order at the counter. The restaurant is busy with lots of chatter and laughing, but not overly too loud to that you cant hear yourself think. They also have patio seating for the warmer months.

Chef Spotlight discounted salad of the week with a bunch of substitutions

Who is really happy when I heard that Urban Plates was coming to use Sacramento. I had Diane there many times in La Jolla while visiting UC San Diego. This chain is amazing in that they provide so many options. We would go with a group of people and everybody could order something completely different and customize it even if it wasn't on the menu. I always really enjoyed the Brad beef and mushrooms over potatoes in the winter time and the salad is in the summer. Now that Urban places any, Sacramento have been trying to stop by at least once a month. I've discovered this spotlight chef items which are quite a deal. I didn't feel like having a Cobb salad, but you can substitute the chicken for beef for $1.50 up charge or substitute it with Aji tuna for no up charge and switch out the sauces in the vegetables. I ended up getting a steak salad just the way I want it for three dollars cheaper than it would've been if I ordered the steak salad off the menu and it contain things I didn't want. I like urban Plate's organic grass fed beef, , and roasted beets in my salad so much better than the same ingredients famous salad place that just opened in the same mall which charges way more for pretty much the same salad I ordered today. This is a great place to come with a bunch of people because there's so much room and you don't have to worry about splitting the bill cause you can just go up and each person get their own order and pay for their own. I also like that kiosk to order from or ordering from the table with the QR code because I can take my time to decide the different items that I want to substitute. Urban Plates is highly recommended!

Urban Plates is in a great location and was the perfect spot for lunch with my son on a Saturday afternoon. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was excellent, with a wide variety of selections to choose from. I really liked the modern setup--you can either order directly from the staff at the walk-up counter or use the electronic ordering kiosks, which makes the process quick and convenient. My son ordered the Surf & Turf, which was absolutely delicious, and I had an amazing Caesar salad with chicken that was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. Located near Sacramento State with plenty of parking in a newer shopping center, it's an easy and convenient place to visit. Great food, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Jazmine was friendly upon arrival and patient while I ordered. She made sure to repeat my order and the service was exceptional! Love coming here & everyone is so friendly. The food is amazing! Although I do say, dinning in is wayyy better than take-out. 2 weeks ago I ordered take-out & some of my sauces I purchased for an extra fee were missing and so was my complimentary bread. Portions are smaller as well, but at that point I had to be at work so I didn't bother to go back to ask for them so I just let it slide. Today was great though and I always get amazing service when I dine-in, so I'll continue to do so!

Buckhorn BBQ always delivers…read more I've had them many times over the years, I've been to many of their locations, I've had them catered at work functions, brick and mortars, kiosks at malls, the one constant is that they are always so tasty and wonderful. This visit to this location was no different-let me tell you about it. First of all the location is located in a very busy parking lot, so lots of parking is available. The location feels pretty wide open and spacious when you walk in. Lots of tables and places to sit along with a bar area for those who would rather sit there. The smells when you walk in are so wonderful, it's like a day long aroma of grilled meat has inundated the building-it's lovely. The menu is very vast, the kind of place you can come to multiple times and have a different dining experience every time. They have a really nice BBQ sauce bar available for customers to try their different sauces. On this visit we went with a chicken combo plate with a piece of BBQ Chicken and a piece of Grilled Chicken along with a serving of mac and cheese and a serving of coleslaw. I took these items to go and enjoyed them at home. The service from the employees was pretty good, my food was packaged properly and was pretty much ready when I arrived. Let's talk about the food. I'm not the biggest fan of coleslaw but the one they serve at Buckhorn continues to be one of my favorites-especially when I top it with a touch of bbq sauce-pretty dynamite. I devoured their mac n cheese-it struck a very good balance of creaminess and cheesiness and the macaroni were a perfect texture-not all mushy-I really enjoyed this side dish. The grilled chicken was my least favorite of the two chickens I tried, it was a little on the dry side but a few dips in their bbq sauce was pretty helpful in making it much better. The bbq chicken was my favorite of the two chicken dishes, coated in bbq sauce and it was very juicy with a great mix of seasoning with that awesome bbq chicken skin texture-yep this was a great bite. In closing, I would say my dining experience at Buckhorn was pretty good and I look forward to getting back there and next time maybe get their famous Tri-tip again-it's to die for!!

Just recently, they changed how and when they give out their utensils and napkins when dining in. Usually they give you a small tray with that stuff on there right after you place your order at the counter. This time, they said that they will bring out the utensils and napkins when we get our food. The young lady gave us our food; however, our utensils were nowhere to be found even though she said the runner should be coming soon with it. We waited for quite some time as our food just sat there because we needed utensils to eat our food. My friend decided to go ask for them. This change didn't make sense to us as to why the utensils weren't brought out at the same as our food and why another runner had to bring them out (after receiving our food). I hope they go back to their original way of handing out the utensils and napkins in the beginning, right after you have paid at the counter.

They are perfectly crispy, which is hard to do with sweet potato fries. I have been here many, many times but always end up digging in and forgetting to take pics! We had a few cocktails that hit the spot and were perfectly refreshing for the warm day! I love an old fashioned and this one did not disappoint. We also ordered the peach and Prosciutto pizza & grilled flat iron steak for mains and shared. The pizza was so good. The crust was perfection and the prosciutto and peach were an excellent pairing. The flank steak was seasoned wonderfully, the potatoes and blue cheese were an excellent combination of flavors. Of course we had to have the carrot cake which is a favorite- has to be the best in Sacramento. I always love the dessert cookies and the peanut butter cream sandwich did not disappoint- another favorite to add to the list. Service was great and you can't beat the beautiful plant wall and decor on the patio for dining outside. Of course we will be back again.

I thought the staff was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and helpful from the moment we arrived. They patiently helped me with making my breakfast choices! We as a group of 8 guys met in their private meeting room way on the side, which comfortably seats around 10 people and provided a great setting for our group conversations. The croissant and bran muffin we ordered were both fresh, soft, and absolutely delicious. And the all-you-can-drink dark European coffee was served hot, fresh, and full of rich flavor. From this experience, I highly recommend Ettore's for a basic morning meal, coffee, meeting, or simply a warm and enjoyable café experience! Thanks for the memories!! Hope to be back again next time I'm in the Sacramento area!! I have to also add, the bathrooms were relatively clean for a busy place! Big plus in my opinion!

After seeing a TikTok influencer recommend it and show what she ordered, it looked really good, so I finally decided to give it a shot. I had been craving something that was light, balanced, and packed with protein, and after reading the reviews, the All Everything Protein Bowl seemed like the perfect choice. I placed my order for pickup, and the first thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean the restaurant smelled. Surprisingly, there wasn't a strong seafood odor at all, which I actually appreciated. Service: picked up my food upon arrival and everything was ready. The All Everything Protein Bowl was fresh, light, and didn't have overpowering flavors. It came with chicken, fish, and shrimp, making it a well-balanced, protein-packed meal. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I ended up really enjoying it. The seafood tasted fresh and clean, and the ingredients worked well together without feeling too heavy. My only critique is that I wish it came with a little more sauce. Other than that, I had a great experience and will definitely be back to try some of their other menu items.

Food: 3.8 Service: 2.5…read more 1st time coming here even though my wife has been coming here frequently with her girlfriends, so excited to give this establishment a try after working / doing demonstrations at the State Fair. There's plenty of parking and after walking in; I was disappointed since there was no one willing to take orders in person so we were forced to navigate their kiosk menu ordering system. Their system is fairly simple to use, plenty of pictures to show you what each item potentially looks like. But if you're not use to ordering from a kiosk then it can be frustrating. We finally got our order placed and sat until our food was ready (call by name). When our food was ready, everything was there except my salad (only thing they didn't have to cook, LOL). Food was prepared well and plated nicely. I was surprised that my wife ordered her fish fried and not grilled but the fish portion was huge, but she seemed very happy with her food & her sides: brussel sprout and sweet potato fries. My two fish tacos was pretty good the ends of each portion was mostly batter which gave you that crunch sound on the first bite but the tacos was missing something maybe some salsa/hot sauce or a crema. My side: street corn and Caesar salad. Their street corn was on point so I added it to my tacos which gave it more flavor. The salad was nice and refreshing. I did also order their clam chowder which was creamy but after several spoonfuls, the taste of butter was prominent; so I never finish the soup. BONUS: they serve Stubborn soda, so if you never had it then it's worth just stopping in for that alone! Overall, nice visit.
