MY sister and I were walking through the midtown farmers market when she got hungry. She had her service dog with her, so we picked a dog friendly place to eat... that lead us to Jack's Urban Eats. I was surprised it was not busier. As we walked up, we liked that there was outdoor seating available... bc we like to people watch, and the midtown farmers market was definitely buzzing. When we walked in, it was very clean. There were tables and booths available next to the big bright windows. We checked out the menu on the wall and while she used the restroom, I ordered our food. She got the bbq chicken sandwich, and I got the turkey club. I paid at the register then grabbed our number, which you put on the end of the table so they can deliver your food to you. We first decided to sit inside at a booth next to the window, but the tables were pretty close to the benches, and they couldn't be adjusted. Our food just happen to be brought to our table, so I picked up our plates and we easily found a spot to sit outside. I'm not sure if you buy something from the farmers market and then allowed to sit here and eat, but there were others bringing their food from the over to eat. My sister enjoyed her bbq chicken sandwich. The bbq sauce was good and they put crispy onions on it. I am not a fan of the turkey club. I felt like the bread is too thick. The turkey was pretty thin and bland. Not enough mayo or avocado. Zero seasonings. I boxed it up and gave it to my sister, who also boxed the rest of hers up. We decided on Jacks for dinner as my pregnant sis was craving a salad. Jacks is a fast casual restaurant offering farm fresh carved meat plates, sandwiches and salads. As we were ordering, I noticed a special item of the season, the Heirloom BLTA. Within 10mins of ordering, I heard my name being called and my sandwich was being placed on the counter. Each employee seemed pleasant and helpful. On the very first bite, the garlicky aioli and spicy arugula stood out, while the toasted sourdough had a great chew along with thick slices of maple glazed bacon, heirloom tomatoes, and avocado. This sandwich was made fresh to order for $12.95 This location is very spacious with plenty of indoor seating and a large patio. It was a windy evening so we decided to sit inside. If I could rate this higher than 5 I would! Customer service was incredible, most workers were in their teens or young twenties that I encountered with and they were all phenomenal. There is a small lot behind the building with parking revered for their patrons. The menu has so many options it was hard to choose! Came here for lunch on a Saturday. You can either order a pre-crated salad or sandwich or create your own salad. I got the summer salad with chicken and it was ok. I had to ask for additional dressing as I couldn't taste anything on it initially. I also thought there should be more toppings on it. My husband did a create your own salad and it was good for him. Today was a day to celebrate!! My girlfriend had the car for a few hours and she choose to pick me up and take me to lunch. What a treat. She has tons of friends so she could have easily chose another one, but today was my day. I chose Jack's Urban Eats as it's close to Capital Park and I could have walked there if I wanted to, but she offered a ride and it being 80 degrees out already I couldn't say no. Parking is a pain in downtown and especially near the restaurants. Luckily someone was pulling out in front and we snagged a spot. Unfortunately, it was still a paid spot and the downside was you have to use a app. That was a challenge. My husband has the app already on his phone and makes it look like a breeze. It's not. I miss when the side streets used to be free parking. I like eating at Jack's Urban Eats. They serve fresh, made to order salads. I almost ordered the blackened salmon cobb salad, but at last minute read the sign that said Chimichurri Steak Bowl next to their checkout counter. I went with the new offering as it hasn't been put on the menu yet. The Chimichurri Steak Bowl has the following in it: Chargrilled tri tip, arugula, cilantro lime rice, pickled onions, tomatoes, and sweet potato with fried shallots and chimichurri for $15.95. Two dollars cheaper then the Salmon salad I was looking at. The salad was ok, but I wouldn't order it again. First, I'm not a fan of arugula. It gets caught in my throat and makes me cough. It's also hard to eat as it's so long and pieces stick out of your mouth when you're trying to get a mouthful. It's just not a pretty sight. The cilantro lime rice was a really good touch. I enjoyed it so much more then the arugula. A bite of anything and the rice was tasty. The tomatoes were only a few, but they were really good. I don't recall any fried shallots on my dish or maybe those were the grilled onion looking things. I expected them to be fried like when you top the green bean casserole. The tri tip was ok. A bit on the tough side, it was hard to chew and got swallowed in one bite. Overall I'll order a different salad next time, probably the blackened salmon salad as that was my first choice. She also ordered some garlic fries that we shared. they were tasty, but limp. I'm not a fan of limp fries, I like mine crispy. I usually order crispy fries and they fry them twice or leave them in longer, I'm not sure what they do, but they come out crispy. Timing is everything. We arrived at 11am when they opened and got the last parking space available so we picked the right time to arrive. We were second in line when we arrived and ordered quickly and got our meals brough out to us on the patio. When we left at Noon there was a long line to order and lots of the tables were taken with people eating. They have a really nice patio to eat at, but by noon it's all in the sun. When we arrived we were partially shaded and it was pleasant, but by the time we left the sun had moved into my eyes. There were several other people enjoying the spring time weather we are having. I'll be back because I really like Jack's Urban Eats, but I will be ordering something different. read more

We always split our choices in order to experience two items when we go somewhere new. We enjoyed the Flowerchild salad which will keep me coming back. Perfectly dressed with unique ingredients. The Reuben sandwich was also spectacular with lean tasty and moist meat topped with all the right goods. Friendly staff and a great value. My husband was craving Jack's Urban Eats for dinner last night so we stopped in for take-out. It was pretty empty inside minus a couple of families, but the inside was nice, spacious and clean. We ordered a large Jack's Urban Fries with added Chicken Strips, the Kids Turkey and Mac and Cheese plate and the new seasonal Turkey Brie Sandwich. Jack's Urban Fries are honestly the reason why my husband craves going there and I agree with him - they are so simple, yet pack such flavor. I actually really enjoyed the Turkey Brie Sandwich, but there was a bit too much lettuce for my taste. My daughter liked her Kids Plate and the Mac and Cheese was nice and cheesy. Three of us came for lunch on a Saturday after wandering around midtown market. Restaurant not busy and service pleasant and prompt. Order at counter and food delivered to table. Orders were tri tip plate (small amount of steak) sides of charred corn (large portion very tasty) and Mac and cheese (we all had a bite everyone agreed very good but better if hot). Disappointed!! Well first let me explain I drove to this location as I had tried the Roseville Fountains location and was unimpressed. I wanted to come here because I ate here several years ago and loved its great tasting food and generous portions. They did not have the turkey sandwich I was seeking, it was fresh turkey, stuffing touch of gravy and cranberry sauce, it seems it's a Thanksgiving thing now. So I asked for Turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce. It was a small portion and cost $15.00 no sides. The bun was about the size of a hamburger bun it was tasty as was the turkey, however as I said a small amount of turkey since it was uneven. It is counter service and staff were friendly enough but not helpful in customizing my order were a bit rushed though it was not busy. It is bright with lots of windows, decors nothing special,they do have tables outdoors on the street. My friends were hyping up the steak salad at Jack Urban Eats so much that my friend and I haaaad to try it out ourselves and see what was up! We arrived around 6:20pm on a Wednesday night, sat down, and got our food within 10 minutes! I did the build your own salad and I got: mixed greens, roasted corn, cucumber, croutons, bleu cheese, oranges, and red onion with tri-tip and balsamic vinaigrette. I was craving a salad for a while and this definitely hit the spotttt! This location is all right. Parking can be a little tricky being that it's downtown. You should be able to find street parking, of course you have to pay for it at all times now. Maybe it's because of this location that it's tends to get busier. The service is decent enough and there's an available seating inside and outside. I do find this location a little bit smaller compared to the Loehmann's plaza one. Every time I've been here the food tasted good. I ate at urban eats for the first time. I came in for the hamburger99 special basic burger plus fries. Which is came out to about eleven plus dollars. I was kind of disappointed.The burger tastes like gas from the grill. I prefer hamburgers cooked on a griddle and not gas flame. They were fresh out of the oil and the garlic parmesan seasoning on top with their ranch dressing is pure perfection! Not much meat and lots of bread with a very sweet honey mustard and that's about it. My granddaughter had a mango salad which she said was "delicious". For the umpteenth time my delivery order from Midtown was wrong! Tonight: not a single piece of orange on my Asian chicken salad. It is a main ingredient. Jack's is definitely a go to spot for me whether that be with family, friends, or coworkers. They have such a huge variety of options to please any palate. The location is just 5 minutes, walking distance, away from where I work downtown. It's convenient, they're always providing quick and efficient customer service, and their food seems to never disappoint - most of the time. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Half of that outdoor seating is under the shade too which is always a plus! Last week I came with a coworker when the summer weather was tolerable for a change. We sat where the sun beamed on us giving us that much needed warmth after being in a freezing office all morning. I ate the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of urban fries (these are a must!). I will say the buffalo chicken sandwich was meh, I missed that crunchy exterior. If I have to wait 10 or so minutes for this sandwich my expectations better be met. I won't be getting this from here anytime soon. However, this week we went again and I tried their Banh Mi sandwich. This was much better than expected! Not truly an authentic Banh Mi but Jack's is trying and did their thing so I was pleased and would happily order again. This is coming from a gal who isn't a huge steak fan. My husband and I were visiting family and had the opportunity to have Jack's Urban Eats salads. He ordered the Steak Salad containing chargrilled tri-tip, mixed greens, crumbled blue cheese, sun-dried cranberries, rosemary croutons, red onion, and balsamic vinaigrette salad. I ordered the Blackened Salmon Cobb that contained fresh avocado, blue cheese crumbles, tomato, egg, grilled corn, pickled radish, romaine and spinach with lemon-herb vinaigrette. The salads were very hearty and delicious. The service was very fast and efficient. The restaurant was packed even though we ordered for pick-up. They have outside seating. We got this beef rice bowl, BBQ beef sandwich and 2 regular sodas. I thought all sandwiches came with fries but this one didn't. Rice bowl barely had any meat, so much lettuce, super dry and barely any flavor. Sandwich was dry with barely any bbq sauce and was really small. Have to admit the worst $47 we spent. Anyhow I think we will stick to the LA area and look to try local food and try to enjoy the concert on our travel journey. Do not recommend this restaurant if you are in sacramento, California. Jack's Urban Eats has lasted throughout the years despite the fact that it is located in Lohman's Plaza - where the parking lot is one of the worst-designed parking lots in Sacramento. My friends and I have dined here numerous times. I can always count on Jack's for a solid meal and used to go fairly regularly for lunch with co-workers. My goto was generally the create-your-own salad where you pick your base of greens, 6 toppings, a dressing, and add a protein such as chicken or beef tri-tip. While not inexpensive or generously portioned, the ingredients were always fresh and tasty. During my most recent visit, they seem to have changed things where you place your order and pay at the counter - instead of getting your meal, then paying at the end of the line. I had the Sonoma steak plate ($16.75): chargrilled steak topped with mushrooms, shallots, blue cheese and balsamic reduction with a side of Mac and cheese and roasted Brussel sprouts. And my husband ordered the chicken club sandwich with side of French fries ($14.95). Both were fine dishes - fresh and tasty still! read more
