It's a cute little spot is located in front of the San Clemente metrolink. Theres plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. You order at the register and they'll call your name when the order is ready. For the indoor tables, they have a tv and outlet for each table along the wall for you to watch games. Tried the surf bird, California, Malibu. Nice spot for us to get a west coast IPA, a cider, and split an enormous sandwich that honestly you need a fork to attack properly unless you can unlock your jaw like a snake! We were "stuck" at San Clemente Beach train stop for over an hour til the next train came so we popped in here. It's super convenient to the train station and beach. You order from a walk up counter. There was a TV at every booth. We were likely there at a time that wasn't very busy. We ordered a nachos. It was pretty good. The most stand out thing that happened was how nice the staff was. My son is a super picky eater and really just wanted crispy bacon. I walked up to the counter to order more (some already on the nachos). The lady just added a little bit more on the house. We've probably been here five times in the last six months, and every time the food is consistently delicious. My go to is the Caprese sandwich, and my husband has tried something different each visit...he's loved everything so far. Cute little location of a local mini chain of sandwich shops above the beach. Numerous hot and cold sandwich choices, salad, and sides/appetizers. Interior has a beach/tiki feel with a patio to sit outside. Our choices today were a small (half) Ruben and a full size Hobie. The Hobie is a combo of Pastrami and Salami-Genoa I believe. Served in a soft hoagie style roll with provolone cheese and Italian dressing. Plus your other accoutrements. I chose light on the dressing and am glad I did as the bread got pretty mushy even with that choice. But the meats, cheese, lettuce and tomato went very nicely with the roll. It's a filling sandwich. The half Rueben was pronounced good but wet with all the moist ingredients-sauerkraut, mustard, 1000 island and the meat cooked in Italian dressing. But not a bit was left. If you're looking for a picnic to take to the beach, I'm sure you could do much worse than this place. Just order accordingly to enjoy your sandwich. read more

Solid lunch spot by the beach. Sandwiches are loaded so its a nice hearty meal. I think it was close to or around $30 for a mid-sized sandwich and a tall boy. Staff was very patience with it being our first time and gave us recommendations to everyone in our party, which was very kind of them. Outdoor seating was great but they also have indoor seating for those that want the AC. I thought it was cool they served sandwiches on a frisbee, but I'm probably a sucker for gimmicks/something different. read more

I enjoyed a delicious Reuben with chips and a can soda. $25 seemed steep for a lunch combo; though you could share. Defygrateful for charge ports and cook & a clean look with friendly staff. I had a very disappointing experience at this location. I was asked to leave the premises even though I had a clearly identified and well-behaved service dog with me. Not only was this disrespectful, but it also goes against ADA laws that protect individuals with disabilities who rely on service animals. The staff showed a complete lack of understanding and professionalism when handling the situation. No one should be treated this way--especially when following the law. I hope management takes steps to properly train their employees on how to treat all customers with respect and dignity. read more

I've had good and bad experiences here. Oftentimes the service is extremely friendly and the sandwiches are truly made with care. I love the sandwiches with Italian dressing on it. It's such a game changer and I'm happy they offer it. Prices are a bit high, but their location is convenient to the beach and is really clean inside and out. If I could give zero stars I would. Every time over the years I have been to this place (lived in SC for 15 years), we have waited 30-40 minutes for a 6 inch sandwich. Today, 40 minutes for two to-go sandwiches and when we got them home they were missing the most important part of the surfin' bird sandwich, the bacon and avocado. I spent $35 for two tiny sandwiches with turkey. Awful. If you can't get more than two people working, close. I tried to call and no one answers the phone. Stopped in here on my way back to LA on the train. I was really craving a sub, which is like my go-to beach day food. Honestly, all the subs on the menu looked gross to me. Who puts cream cheese on a sub?! Or sunflower seeds?! So I just opted for a traditional turkey and cheese sub with all the fixings. Sadly, it did not live up to my expectations. There was too much mayo and mustard. Too much turkey, if you can believe it. And still the sandwich had like zero flavor. It was just bland. I've had regular turkey subs that I'm still thinking about. But this one was forgettable. The inside of the restaurant has a cute beach/tiki theme. But I have to say, not a fan of the individual TVs at every booth. It's hard enough to get people to pay attention to each other with their phones and if there's even a single TV in a restaurant or bar, nevermind your own. I guess it would be cool if you came by yourself or everyone in your party wanted to watch the game, but it just seemed weird to me. Nice outdoor patio facing the train tracks though. I was excited to move to San Clemente and find this deli within walking distance. The menu is extensive and the atmosphere across from the beach is nice, with comfortable booths. However, this deli unfortunately serves Sysco/US Foods assembled, processed food; I don't think there is anything homemade on the menu. Since I'm trying to avoid these types of foods I doubt I'll be coming here on a regular basis. If they would just add a few homemade items (soups, or a salad with homemade dressing and meat or fish cooked on site) it would be so much better! read more

If you have time to wait for your food, I definitely recommend coming here for a meal. The wait was pretty long (we came around 2 pm), but once we received our sandwiches, we totally got it. The wait was so worth it. There are so many different options for sandwich choices, and everyone will be able to find something they love. The regular was the perfect size for a meal, and while the sandwiches are a little expensive, it makes sense with how high-quality they are. Looked more like social hour in there or something. I even got my sandwich before a girl who ordered before me and she probably waited closer to an hour... I asked one of my buddies if he had the same experience and he said he waited almost an hour too. If you scroll down the reviews, many people have said the same thing about waiting. I totally get making sure an order is done well and if it's busy but come on- it shouldn't take longer than 20mins at the most. At that point it has be to be harming your business. I hate writing reviews like this but unless that's not fixed, you're better off going up the street to Board and Brew where they probably get 3 times the volume and sandwiches are made in half the time at most when it's busy! read more

This Beach front Deli Hut looks really cute and inviting! My husband and I had really high expectations! I ordered the North Shore, and he ordered the Surfin' Bird. They were both very large and open faced. Tons of meat, toppings and dressing. It's great for those who can eat a lot of food fast! For others like myself/husband - It was smothered and slippery. The bread was soaked and quite flimsy. It was hard to eat and be graceful, and when we wrapped some of it to go - it turned to mush when we got home 5 minutes later. The TV's were interesting, but you don't need those when you have a beach view and good people watching. read more
