Sandwich was great but wow- i don't think I've ever been to a place where it takes that long (almost 40 minutes) to make a SANDWICH (mine wasn't even toasted too lol), even when it's not crowded and there's 4 people in the kitchen. Looked more like social hour in there or something. I even got my sandwich before a girl who ordered before me and she probably waited closer to an hour... I asked one of my buddies if he had the same experience and he said he waited almost an hour too. If you scroll down the reviews, many people have said the same thing about waiting. I totally get making sure an order is done well and if it's busy but come on- it shouldn't take longer than 20mins at the most. At that point it has be to be harming your business. I hate writing reviews like this but unless that's not fixed, you're better off going up the street to Board and Brew where they probably get 3 times the volume and sandwiches are made in half the time at most when it's busy! read more

This Beach front Deli Hut looks really cute and inviting! My husband and I had really high expectations! I ordered the North Shore, and he ordered the Surfin' Bird. They were both very large and open faced. Tons of meat, toppings and dressing. It's great for those who can eat a lot of food fast! For others like myself/husband - It was smothered and slippery. The bread was soaked and quite flimsy. It was hard to eat and be graceful, and when we wrapped some of it to go - it turned to mush when we got home 5 minutes later. We went on the weekend so the line was long and it was a 45min wait for our food. We were told 30 - but hey that's not really under their control. It was busy. The food was good. My son got a tuna, me and my husband got deli sandwiches - everything was fresh and came on frisbees instead of plates - very cute. As busy as it was, we found a booth to sit in and enjoy our meal. They have large TVs at every table which I find a bit much - but works out to keep the kid distracted. My only "concern" was they place the orders up on the ledge and people kept walking up and talking over the food to ask the food preparers about their order/food. I personally don't want someone talking and breathing all over my food. Not too sure what they can do about that. read more

I love a good sandwich, and this place delivers. There is a wide selection of cold and hot sandwiches, salads and "beach munchies". I've only had hot sandwiches here since they are so delicious, and I just can't order anything else yet. My favorite is the Reuben - mouthwatering! The Woody and the Spicolli are delicious, too. Great location with outdoor seating with a small ocean view; indoor seating also offered. They have wine and beer, which is convenient. Sad to say, the location is better than the food. I ordered a chef salad without peppers or onions. Guess what it came with when it was brought to me? Yup, peppers and onions; had to send it back, which meant my partner and I could not start eating at the same time. Inconvenient, since he ordered a hot sandwich. Of course I told him to go ahead, but not cool! When the salad came back, it was corrected as I asked, but had SO many greens, I had to remove 1/3 of it to get to the protein. Our first Beach Hit Deli experience, and this new location is just a few weeks new. Early Friday evening so no trouble parking. Service was very friendly and fast. We split a roast beef with provolone on a French roll. It was delicious! Bread was perfectly soft, portion of roast beef was very generous as was the provolone. Lots of simple, gourmet, hot and cold options, as well as salads. We will definitely make this one of our regular sandwich stops. read more

This has nothing to do with the food, which is really good. It has to do with the management of this location. A bunch of us were watching the NFL playoffs and decided to get some sandwiches. We were going to place an order totaling about $80. We first went to their website to place the order and it said online ordering unavailable. No problem right, call the order in, NOT! We dialed the number and nobody picked up after an endless number of rings. We thought it was busy so we tried again and again. No answer and no message. Decided to drive down and order in person, HA! Walked up to the door and a piece of paper said we closed at 4PM today. Can't tell you how pissed we were. Why couldn't they post on the website that they were closing early? Why wouldn't you have the phone answered with a message sorry closed. This is not the first time for this location to do such a thing. We hope someone at corporate reads this and takes appropriate action. Pros: Love these sandwiches! Always fresh. The North Shore sandwich is my favorite! It's a thick sandwich for sure and will fill you up big time. The new San Clemente location is perfect and a nice stop for bikers, runners, surfers, or for those getting off the train at North Beach. Cons: They do take a long time to make the sandwiches, and you don't get to keep the frisbee plate every time you eat there. The new location has a weird setup with an oversized TV in EVERY BOOTH, which is very distracting and totally unnecessary as it takes up space. They also have NO ICE and recommend you buy their water bottles. Main issue I got with Beach Hut is the prices. I don't think 6" sandwiches should be $13-15 with no drink or chips, but that's the world we live in now I guess. read more

It's so great to have a delicious deli option in North Beach. They've only been open a week. We stopped in tonight because we've been waiting three years for the place to finish construction. We weren't super hungry, so we ordered their turkey lasagna soup and it was absolutely delicious. It was so good that I hope they have it available often.
