We've been coming here for years but it seems like the place has really gone downhill since dropping the Best Western branding. The initial face-lift the rooms got a few years ago was nice, but the buildings are falling apart. The elevator has been out for ages and looks like an abandoned construction project with old plywood and equipment lying around. If hauling all of our luggage up three floors of stairs wasn't bad enough, the stairs are half broken and are visibly rotting in places while the bolts appear to be rusting away. The room itself was definitely a letdown--it seemed half clean with crumbs on the tables, empty shampoo dispenser in the shower, stained couches, breaks in the tile, and the same sticky stains on the carpet that we complained about when we stayed in that room 6 months ago are still there. There's no AC so you have to keep the doors/windows open to keep the room from becoming a sauna, but there's bonfires on the beach all night long, so you can't avoid the smoke. The beach itself is nasty, covered in trash, bottles, cans, burnt out fire pits, and nearly every piece of driftwood has been burned on at some point. There are signs that this section of the beach is for hotel guests only and bonfires are not allowed, but there's clearly no enforcement. It's tough to find nice beachfront hotels in the area, and we love Brookings, but when we're spending over $500 a night for a suite, it's hard to justify dealing with all of these issues. We were understanding for a while but it doesn't appear that the ownership is in any hurry to improve things. I hate to add more drive time for a nice getaway on the Oregon coast, but we might have to start taking our business further up the road to a bigger town. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover - well not completely anyway. Got the room Through booking.com last night while on the road - with sketchy cell service.,after a long day driving up CA-1 and being exhausted - and browsing through a number of hotels that would have been fit for a Bates motel stand in, I clicked on this property being hopeful. Let me say at first site I was willing to sleep in the cab of the truck! When you get there the office is closed. Half the building looks like a homeless shelter. You have to drive .25 mi to another location to check in. Pacific reef looks much much nicer than this place. The front desk clerk was friendly - he said they just bought the property recently and only part of its remodeled. That was in response to my question 'is it as serial killer looking on the inside as out?' Back at hotel - dragging suitcases up the stairs - go past one room where the guy left four wide open. He had made his space beyond disgusting! Utter filth - this did not help me feel better about the place. Got into our room - it was very hot and humid. There is a gas FP - not on - but room is small And pilot light going so this is likely why room feels like I stepped into a sauna! The room was pleasantly nice appearing - updated. Had a balcony facing ocean. We had to leave slider door open - (TG there was a screen door) to get airflow. It was nice hearing the ocean. In todays world i was concerned about the risk of an intruder. Thankfully smite-monster aka hubby was there to ward off any evil-doer. The bed was very comfy. Passed out once my head hit the pillows! Awakened to the sound of the waves crashing the shore and had a great bedside view ! They have a micro and mini fridge. Toilet room with shower and sink. Separate sink area and Starbucks coffee setup. Room was decent. A bit pricey at $175/night. Ocean view with beach access was good. Give them 6mo to a year and the place should be looking good! read more

I have to start with disappointed...we checked in and received a room on the 3rd floor. I was shocked to find that the only elevator for the building is broken and has been for 2 years according to the front desk staff. We hauled our stuff to the 3rd floor and found some of the steps broken...yes broken! Frankly I do not know how the hotel can stay open with so many maintenance issues. The location is good but the hotel is very tired. The website pictures is not what you are going to get...understand what you are getting before you book this hotel. read more

Doesn't look like much from the parking lot, but the room was really nice. Clean and bright with a sliding door that opened up to the beach. We enjoyed the sound of the waves and took a nice walk on the beach. We brought our small dog and the pet fee was only $15. There was a nice gym that we did not use and a breakfast buffet with lots of hot and cold choices. The lady at the front desk was very nice. read more

We stayed for 1 night and stayed in the newer building. The newer building is for those with pets. We overheard a family complain about the thin walls in the old building. Thankfully we were not traveling with pets so we lucked out with room 600 which was a great location for our family. Every room is ocean front. I would have given the hotel a perfect 5 but some stuff seemed dusty and slightly dirty (bathroom shower grout). Otherwise the hotel had great views and you could hear the waves in the morning. Horrible! Floors in the rooms were dirty!! When I took off my shoes and socks, after 5min of walking around the room, the bottom of my feet were black! GROSS!!! Only 2 big towels were provided, and girls, you know we need 1 just for our hair, so I had to get more towels. There was hardly Amy toilet paper in tge room...ran out...had to go find more. Same with tissues...ran out! And I was only there 2 nights! Then the final Coup de Gras was me accidentally locking myself out of my room, late at night and the lobby was locked and empty! I knocked and knocked but nobody came!! Finally, a nice guest pulled up and let me use their cell phone to call the lobby, and they answered....said they heard me knocking, but I was knocking too loud. WTF??? What a view! The rooms are spacious, clean and decorated beautifully. The real star is definitely the stunning coastal view and proximity to the beach. The hotel is literally steps from the ocean. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It's worth noting that there's no elevator. We stayed on the the third floor and got a mini work out every time we left and returned to our room and lugging the suitcases up was super fun but it wouldn't keep me from staying here again. They also have dog friendly rooms on the first floor so that's pretty cool too! read more

Our final stop along our tour of the Oregon Coast was the Beachfront Inn in Brookings, Oregon. This property is a great example of don't make assumptions based on first impressions, the front desk staff spent more time initially telling me what they wouldn't do rather than what was available at the hotel, it was a little off-putting but the recovery was quick from that point. The rooms are large and have a balcony, views of the ocean are spectacular. The property is a three-story building right on the ocean, it is pet friendly and the rooms on the bottom floor are dedicated to folks with pets. You should be mindful there is no elevator and it can be a hump getting luggage up the stairs but having a room on the top floor was worth it for the views. The sound of the ocean at night were the best and incredible to wakeup to those views in the morning. They have decent continental breakfast with a good selection, Nan was the hostess our first morning and she was amazing, so friendly and worked so hard to make sure everyone had a great experience. Unfortunately, social distancing and mask wearing were not consistent in the breakfast area, we took our food back to the room. The restaurants in the area are good but they are a drive, nothing in walking distance but you can beat the hotel location being near the ocean. read more

After leaving the last city a day earlier due to a terrible hotel experience; it was nice and refreshing to arrive at this place. Great place for pets and the rooms are nice and clean. We were able to get the top floor two rooms with door opening between the two rooms where our teenagers stayed. Our dog loved walking down along the beach as with many other dogs. They have dog bags on the entrance to the beach to clean up after your pets incase you didn't have one. They also give you pet treats to welcome your pet! I wish we could have stayed longer because many people were setting up chairs or sitting on the washed up logs making fires and even roasting marshmallows. They have a couple buildings each facing a different angle along the beach. The pool and spa were closed; but may be open now since this was a couple months ago when we stopped by. It was nice because they do offer coffee bar and snacks. read more

Like everyone else going stir crazy during COVID, we wanted to hit the road and get out into some rugged nature. I do a lot of outdoor fine art photography, so we chose Brookings, Oregon and stayed for 4 nights at the Beachfront Inn in a king, oceanfront view with balcony. True to its name, the Inn is beachfront, with gorgeous views of the rugged coast and all the driftwood on the beach. Perfect for walking and photographing, and lots more up and down the coast as well. The room was very nice, spacious, wet bar with microwave and fridge, remodeled bathroom, and the view! Blackout curtains worked well, the staff were very nice, and the round-the-clock hot tea and coffee in the check-in building (no breakfast with COVID) was much appreciated. What stops this facility from being really top notch at this point are the updating needed for travelers that stay connected much more than ever, especially with those of us doing work away from home. Bandwidths were very slow for the mutli-media work we needed to do, and the cell coverage (at least with T-mobile) was lousy - not their fault. The tv was small for such a large room (about 32"), and, it was not a smart tv. We had rain every single day, as it will do in Oregon, and there was only cable tv. There was a sign for those of us traveling with streaming devices (we have a Chromecast), and after 45 minutes on the phone with the tech people, we finally got it to work. However, our show had buffering issues along the way and we ended up mostly just finding some cable shows to watch. You don't need to offer free Netflix, as the motel down the street does, just please update the rooms with large smart tvs. Two other issues: lack of waste containers. We had just two in the room, fairly small considering we are all doing take out and bringing food back to our rooms. There needs to be a large trash can on every floor. There was only one on the ground floor with a small hole for trash and one for bottles. We had to smash and break up every takeout container to try and get it in! Finally, there is no evidence of attempted conservation in the rooms. Plenty of room for a recycle blue bin under the bathroom counter. Lots of room for a bulk shampoo etc dispenser in the bathroom, no signs re turning off heat/lights etc when leaving etc. Very behind-the-times in this respect. Overall though, you can't beat the Beachfront Inn for its location, comfortable rooms and great staff. It was a challenge to work remotely from there, so I'm not sure we'll be back anytime soon, but it was a lovely time away for Valentine's Day. read more

Very grateful they didn't price gouge up the ass during a natural disaster. However the natural theme of the staff is unfriendly. We asked a couple simple questions, the staff saw that as an opportunity to turn that into a personal rant. With comments such as " Don't be sorry I can't give you a receipt, be sorry you used Expedia to book with us." And instead of simply stating they had no additional pillows, the staff made it a point to say " they are so low on pillows they had to take some from our room to begin with" causing us to have to PURCHASE OUR OWN PILLOWS for the stay from Fred Meyer. Great views, nice room, hot shower, beach access. The bed was comfy, pillows were okay, not my style though. The balconies are a little small, but perfect if you just want to stand and look out at the beautiful view. The sliding door to the balcony was nice and big, so perfect for viewing even with the door closed. Updated space, and quiet, felt like a little vacation. Staff was alright, just nit picking, could have been a tad more friendly when checking in. Would recommend (especially for the price!!!) and a great stop in Brookings along the coast. read more

Staying here was a splurge! Almost $200 for a night in November!! But the view was worth it I thought and the room was nice and balcony a treat. Incredible sound of the ocean filled the room. Really good breakfast. Hotel has easy access to a little beach that is nice to walk when the tide is out and there's a side walk above that's great when the tide is in or for those with mobility issues that might find the beach difficult. Only negatives were the price. Expected things in November to be less, also attention to detail in the cleaning, sock was found on the smoke detector. Still I'd stay here again. read more

The area was nice. There is a bistro on site. The ocean view in room 230 was beautiful. The space was roomy. The bathroom was clean. The tub had some damage, but still did what it needed it to. My hair felt like wire after I washed it though so not sure if it's the water, shampoo, or both. There was a frig and micro. A heated pool. The temperature was set at 69 and we all 3 still got very hot in the middle of the night. Crazy bec it wasn't even hot out. It was chilly and raining. Also strange that it was hot, but the floors and walls are paper thin. We would consider staying again, but it would depend on how much we have to lug up the stairs since there's no elevators and we would demand the top level. We had a rough night here bec the people above us were up all hours morning, noon, and night walking back and fourth, opening and closing slider, and constantly dropping something that sounded like a medicine ball????? Our cousin stays at Oceanfront Suites across the street from this Inn and recommends them so we will see...Hubby said the breakfast was better than average! read more

To say that I was disappointed, is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I was stopping through on my way home from Seattle, alone. I was excited to have a night to myself with a beachfront view. Alone time for me is hard to come by. I was extremely nervous to stay in a hotel during COVID, but their website/Yelp assured me that they were on top of it. Come to find out, THEY WERE NOT ON TOP OF IT. I get to my room and start to look around which is a normal habit for basic cleanliness, but especially now with COVID. Their cleaning didn't even meet basic sanitary standards let alone the intense cleaning they emphasize on their page. Toilet was dirty, as if someone had just vomited in it. The front entry way had tons of dirty and who knows what else that was tracked in. A huge puddle of coffee under the coffee machine, who knows how old. There was a fly, tons of stains on the carpets, and the fire detector was wrapped in plastic, not sure why. Usually I wouldn't complain or I'd make a suggestive comment at check out. But, since their cleaning is supposed to be as diligent as ever, I definitely didn't feel safe or comfortable whatsoever. This was FAR from acceptable. I called the front office and they offered to switch rooms. Nervous, but I had no other option. It was late and I was exhausted and had to get food before all the restaurants closed. The second room seemed better besides some dried food in the microwave, until later that night. Around 1AM as I was about to fall asleep, I hear loud conversations outside of my room. No consideration for the people in neighboring rooms. It turned out that there was "suspicious activity" and the people next door were being moved closer to the office. Cops were brought to the area to look aroundWith all the time it took for them to gather their stuff it was after two. As they walk to the office the manager is yelling at someone or something to get away. So there I am, left to sleep alone in a hotel room knowing there was suspicious activity going on. No reassurance at all from management that everything was okay!!! I was up every hour which a long drive ahead of me! I maybe got 2 hours of sleep. The lack of concern and ability to reassure me, their guest, that everything is safe, was jus the cherry on top of a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. A dirty room and a sketchy environment made this one night to myself absolutely miserable. They added a discount but the experience still totaled nearly 100 dollars. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for this poor experience!! They say they are committed to practicing highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, but this was NOT DEMONSTRATED during my experience in the middle of COVID 19. read more

Excited to have a beach front beautiful room I mean after spending $300 for one night I was expecting this place to be AMAZING but wholly crap what a joke!!!! Super loud, you can hear everything anyone does from walking up the stairs to slamming their doors to the loud obnoxious woman with her barking rat dog below us, I can't leave the door open and listen to the ocean because you literally can hear kids screaming and yelling. This should be classified as a total family motel and no way in heck should rooms be $300 a night. The beach is a drift wood rocky postage stamp area. Super, super disappointed I would not recommend this place to anyone but ppl with small kids. Pool and spa closed. Wish I could have my money back and I'd sleep in my car on a highway would be more quiet! Live and learn. read more

What a great find this was! Decided to extend our mini vacation from inland at Ashland and head to the coast for a night then continue on down the 101 and so so so glad we did. What a great place tucked in a beautiful beach with breathtaking sunsets and beaches to have a fun evening fire in with the kids playing and adults laughing and socializing. Sadly we visited during covid restrictions so we didn't get the full normal open hotel services such as buffer food was closed and the pool & spa but hey the price was like $100 a night less to make up for it so works for me! We began with a minor hiccup. We were s group of 4 families and I booked the "ocean FRONT" room" thinkn why not go all out but vs saving the $40 bucks and only getting the "ocean VIEW" room which offers a elevator to access floors and luggage troller but sadly we walked in our room And was hit with cigarettes stank and a very small balcony and nothing over the top looking room. Didn't feel wow in any way. We immediately call the front desk to ask if they gave us a smoking room and they said no they are all non smoking and they were very apologetic and inform us yes they will move us closer to our party as we are now requesting and downgrading our room even to do so since we felt there was no big perk for the "ocean front". We found out the room We had a party group in there prior and the smell was missed my cleaning staff bit they immediately sent humidifiers to go begin de-smoke the room Which I found impressive since many hotels would just ignore it and book it with someone else but they were ok it and very much took seriously the upmost cleanliness for their rooms and upkeep. I couldn't have been more pleased with the nice professional front desk staff and maintenance man crew for truly being so nice professional friendly etc from the moment we arrived until We left. They really make you feel like a welcomed guest which is refreshing. Whomever is the owner manager and hiring personnel and trainer for this business deserves a medal your doing great! Anyway moving on.. the room they moved us too was next door to our group so perfect kids could play and as soon as we walked in I was blown away got that WOW I love it feeling! The room was larger looking bigger balcony and just very nice and fresh smelling too. It's nicely remodeled with very comfortable beds cable tv and you can sit on patio or simply watch the ocean from you bed. My only regret was not staying longer (but budget stops that ha ha) this was one of our shorter stays on our trip less than 24hrs yet it was our most memorable and favorite and we can't thank you enough for that wonderful experience and memories our family made while there. read more

This place has amazing views of the ocean and I believe all if not almost all of the rooms have an ocean view. I would definitely recommend taking in the sunset or sunrise views if you get the chance. We went here and brought along our dog, which loved running around on the beach. We loved that they didn't charge us extra because we have a larger breed of dog. The place is very dog friendly and it even has doggy bags on the property that you can use. We loved sitting outside on the patio and taking in the ocean views and hearing the sound on the waves. It was really relaxing. We also had many walks along the beach. This place is also wheelchair accessible and all of the employees are very friendly. The place has been updated inside. It has a modern feel to it and the bed is super comfy. This is one of the best places we have stayed. Clean, right on the water, fairly accessible to the beach, warm, clean pool. The main lobby was adorably decorated for the coming holiday, the two women at check-in were very patient with all of my questions and wanting a specific room location. The room was clean and updated, with nice shampoo, conditioner, body wash, plenty of towels, well lit, extremely comfortable mattress and warm bedding. The pool was amazing. Warm!! You can hear the waves crash. My daughter and I were in mermaid heaven. We swam twice! Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and there is a large clean, dining or you can walk back to your room. What else? I was also lucky enough to be on the second floor and my last night here the people were stomping around above me from 8:30pm to past midnight. Sleep is something you DONT get at this hotel. When the name of the hotel says beachfront, you better believe it at this Best Western. The property is separated into 3 individual buildings that have all rooms facing the ocean which is great! What a view- to wake up with the waves, to sleep with the waves, and be able to take a short walk to the beach is great! The pool and spa are outdoor which was not so good during our visit because it was storming. They are dog friendly which is a plus for many. The pooches sat out on the porch area to take in the scenery. Not much to do within walking distance except Sebastian's bar to grab a drink and a meal. The breakfast offered in the morning was a 3 stars as well. The rooms themselves were pretty dark which gave it a dingy/aged appearance. Hotel staff were nice and friendly. This hotel is off HWY 101, next to the harbor and river. It's right on the beach so most rooms have an epic ocean view. Within minutes of arrival we saw whales from our room! A small patio with chairs overlooking the beach. We left the sliding glass door open and slept to waves crashing on the beach. Super friendly and helpful staff. Full hot breakfast and big open dining area. It's not one of those crowded breakfast rooms. There is plenty of room and you aren't tripping over other guests to get your coffee or oatmeal. Make sure to bring cash to breakfast to tip the cooks and servers. They deserve it! I would DEFINITELY stay here again when in Brookings. Best deals on rooms are on line. read more

I was on the third floor, my room was clean, view was amazing, nice staff, decent breakfast, the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in, and the parking was easy and free. No pet smell in room 309, did have to take stairs, but they ask if you are okay with that before they assign you your room. I would 100% stay again. read more

The beachfront hotel here in Brookings oregon is nice but the manager is not . I stayed at this hotel early December 2023. Like I have many times the past 5 years ,with out any issues ,tell my last stay here in early December 2023. So I Stayed here this past December. Checked out no issues. 3 days later I had a surprise charge of $250 on my credit card With out being notified or given a receipt for the charge. So like most people who are falsely charged I called hotel, raised hell and Talked to Nick the Manager. Nick told me I left ash on the end table , ash on the balcony, and said I left a joint on the end table. He lied. I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. The reason I don't ,my job has a strict Random drug testing policy, it's not healthy, and I'm not going to risk losing a great paying job over something stupid. I told Nick I can produce a drug test and forward company history (random drug testing).The fool said my company can tamper with test. What a jerk for saying that. Anyway I took a drug test and passed with flying colors after I was charged the $250 from the beachfront hotel. Also Nick the manager didn't furnish a receipt when he charged me the $250 . I had to send emails and then call the office 10 days later before Nick finally emailed me a $250 receipt for his fraudulent charge. From this experience I think the hotel should drug test some of there employees. Just my observation from watching employees there at my previous stays. Also every time I stay here there are alway new employees working here from cleaning staff to office personnel. This tells me management might be hard to work for like Nick. The Advise I would give anyone staying here please RECORD YOUR CHECK INNS AND YOUR CHECK OUTS IN YOUR ROOM WITH YOUR CELL PHONE RECORDER. You can also take pictures. How does this possibly have 4 stars? Everything was a letdown - from the moment we checked in to when we left. We booked this hotel because of the good reviews and the fact that it was friendly. We booked through their website (which honestly kind of sucks), and made sure to book a room that had a jacuzzi in it. We never received a confirmation, but we called to confirm and they did charge our card. Fast forward about 3 months to when we check in. First of all, they put us in a room on the ground floor with the smallest balcony they have (if you look at the hotel from the outside, you can see the ones I'm talking about) and no jacuzzi. We tell the person we paid for a jacuzzi and she said no you didn't there's only 3 rooms that have that and you're not in one of them. We explain that we booked that and she just doesn't want to hear it, and says it doesn't matter because those three rooms are booked anyway so there is nothing she can do. OK. So we go and unpack all our stuff and find out the fridge in our room doesn't work. That wouldn't be a huge issue except for that our dog is on a special diet and her food needs to be refrigerated. I call the front desk to see if someone can fix it and the lady checking people in says she'll come look when the other lady gets back from her lunch. So 15 mins later, she comes and looks at it and basically just says we're SOL and that it's broken. I tell her that we need to keep our dog's food refrigerated and she just kind of shrugged. Didn't offer to help or switch our room or anything. We filled the ice bucket and kept changing out the ice all night to keep her food cold, no joke. To top this ridiculous experience off, they didn't give us any body wash for the shower, the AC in our room didn't work, and the balcony had spiders and cobwebs all over it, so we couldn't even use it. Save yourself the trouble and get an Airbnb or stay anywhere else but here. read more

This hotel is Overcharging in a crisis of people searching a place to stay from the fire outbreak.

The last time my husband and I stayed at what is now called Beachfront Inn, it was a Best Western. We needed a place to stay for the night as we cruised down Hwy 101. We remembered what a wonderful place and location the hotel was situated so I Googled Best Western. I called the hotel directly as opposed to calling the 800 number for Best Western. "Unfortunately," the hotel clerk on the other line said, "we are no longer associated with Best Western." What?! Oh no! I wanted my rewards point towards a free night's stay. It didn't matter to us either way because we really like where the hotel was located. It is tucked away from Hwy 101 down the harbor overlooking the ocean. There are restaurants and fishing boats in that row. I booked an ocean view room that can accommodate my two pets travelling with us. As I entered the lobby to check in, I noticed the updated decor. I didn't notice the rack with overstuffed pamphlets. The clerk was very friendly. She recommended a restaurant a mile from the hotel along the harbor called The Fat Irish which will be reviewed in another post of mine. When we walked into our suite, we noticed a big remodel from the last time we stayed there when it was previously BW. The flooring is wood looking tiles, the bathroom hardware is modern, the wall pictures, the lighting, the comfort of the bed were updated. The best show and sound is the whitewater ocean under the dim moonlight, and the thunderous sound of the ocean. The Beachfront Inn provides a complimentary breakfast which is not your ordinary out-of-the-box style. It is served from 6:30 am to 9:30 am. This spot is a go-to for us henceforth when we travel down from the Pacific NW. read more

I'm giving it 2 stars because you can't beat this view. Other than that though, the carpets are horribly stained, and the service is very mediocre. This hotel used to be our go to destination for a quick coastal getaway but since the Best Western is no longer affiliated, they've really let the place go. We asked for a late checkout because the place was so noisy my wife could barely sleep, the answer we got: "sorry, we only allow 1 late checkout per floor, and another customer already asked"... WOW! I've personally never heard of such a thing. Most decent hotels will give you an extra hour if you need it, apparently not the new owners of the Beachfront Inn. And their pool and spa seems to always be in disrepair. Definitely looking for a new place to call our home away from home. read more

No! NO! Looks good on the website. The room has a lovely view. The elevator does not work had to carry suitcases up 4 flights of stairs, did ask front desk at check in if they had something in a building where the elevator worked, since we are seniors, she didn't even look just said no. The next day we noticed the window ceil was full of dead bugs flies etc. called front desk asked if housekeeping could please clean window ceil as it is right by the small table. They do not have daily housekeeping, you have to ask for replacements, coffee, towels. We stayed two nights, that was enough. Housekeeping came in replaced the coffee, brought fresh towels, however the window ceil was not touched. The stairs have broken areas and are rotting out. The room itself does not appear clean. There are other hotels in area check them out. read more

Outstanding location on wild, scenic beach well away from Hwy 101 traffic. I stayed in a nicely appointed Ocean View room (from the look of the place I think all the rooms may have ocean views); titled bath/shower, well maintained, big room with good lighting, nice bedding, balcony overlooking beach, pounding surf and sky full of stars. I slept with balcony door open to sound of surf. read more

We had a comfortable night at the Beachfront Inn. The bed was super comfortable and the room was clean. We did bring our own pillows and blankets because of Covid. read more
