Taking advantage of their late night menu! Takeout.
    Kate M.

I think everyone in town has heard amazing things about Beacon Grille. I live just a block away, but it's not exactly in our price range. We had a really late lunch Saturday and decided it was a good opportunity to try their late night menu for dinner...and opting to takeout makes it even more our speed. It worked out perfectly!! The late night menu starts at 10 pm. It offers most of their starters from the dinner menu, a small plate or two also on their regular menu, several different pizzas and a couple handhelds...and two desserts. There's plenty to choose from! We ordered the fig and prosciutto pizza, pork belly banh mi (star of the show), fries and the chocolate hazelnut torte. Everything was perfection! Possibly the best restaurant food I've had since moving here six years ago. The prices reflect the quality of the ingredients, the care that they put into preparing everything, and how delicious it is! I'm always griping about restaurant prices and quality of food here in Buffalo...that didn't even come close to being an issue with Beacon Grille. Everything was worth every penny! I want to go into great detail about each dish, but I don't want a TLDR situation. But trust me, it is worth it. Sampling the late night menu definitely inspired us to save up to actually eat in for dinner. I know we won't be disappointed! It's very exciting!

We have been to Beacon Grille twice and each time we had a great time. I particularly enjoy all the appetizers we've gotten there - most notably the grilled octopus, lamb meatballs, and bone marrow. I even liked the roasted carrots even though I don't usually like carrots. I love duck and have ordered variations of their duck dishes, I have to say they're not the best I've had, but sufficient. I actually prefer their other dishes just because I know I can get better duck elsewhere (Oliver's, Waxlight). The pork chop that was on their menu in October 2025 deserves a special shoutout as I normally don't like pork chops in any way, shape, or form, but that was probably THE BEST pork chop I have ever tasted in my entire life. Now, I'm no connoisseur in pork chops so take that with a grain of salt. The only complaints I have (as someone in their 40s) would be that it's super dark in there, very loud, and the tables are very small for 4 people with all the wine/water glasses, wine bottle/water decanter, table lamp/candle etc., especially when we order a bunch of apps to share. Another thing is that it's somewhat of an open kitchen concept in the back of the restaurant so your hair and clothes might be a bit smelly afterwards. But all in all - a great place for a night out!

The food was AMAZINGGGGG. I didn't even get pictures of everything because it was too tasty to waste time photographing. Service was also great. I will absolutely be back!

If you haven't eaten the octopus and carrots here, take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself what am I truly doing in Buffalo?

    Carrots with pistachio butter. Amazing.

Our new favorite restaurant in BFlo!! Been here three times in last 6 months and every time was amazing. The smell of the hardwood.....the cooking in the cast iron....the depth of flavor and herbs!!! I have never talked about how good carrots could taste in my life!!! We brought different company each time and they all thought it was incredible!! Nice atmosphere and great staff. Will continue to come back.

Service first - making reservations was very easy to do, and once my friend & I explained we were going to share several small plates, we were moved to a larger table (instead of a 2-top) to accommodate all the plates. The server also got points for upselling the focaccia. It was good, but mostly unnecessary to accompany 3 of the 4 small plates. I tried everything. The mushrooms were OK. I thought the broth was going to be amazing with the focaccia, but perhaps because all 4 plates were brought out at the same time & not staggered, we weren't able to enjoy each in their own right. I found the bone marrow to be delicious but too rich for my palate. Of the two plates I ordered, I most enjoyed the lamb meatballs. The barely held together and were very tasty with all the seasonings sprinkled on top like confetti. The grilled octopus had burnt bits that I didn't find appetizing & I felt the red pepper sauce took away from the intended star (the octopus). I will admit I had some sticker shock when my share of the order (along with an iced tea) totaled $54 before gratuity. As I people watched, both staff & other diners left me underwhelmed and feeling older than my chronological age. While the greeter/front-of-house was appropriately covered, one server greeted diners table side in denim shorts. One woman, at least two decades older than me, walked in wearing jeans with the knees cut out while another woman walked in wearing what appeared to be a négligée. I personally wasn't in anything to write home about, but I dressed respectfully for a meal at a nice restaurant. Also, on the plus side, I was full for several hours after, without dessert.

Located in Allentown the restaurant is the definition of what fine dining represents. Giving you an intimate ambiance, food that is truly an experience all on its own. Service friendly and very knowledgeable of food and drink menus.

Loved everything about this place. Well minus parking BUT that's neither here or there. I was introduced to Beacon Grille about a year or so before their brick and mortar opened at a farm to table ever. Needless say that event left me in anticipation of them opening. Nestled in the heart of Allentown it's a cute space. Great vibe and ambiance. The service was excellent. Very attentive staff and very friendly. They have a great cocktail selections. Definitely recommend the downtown cheerio and the fennel and flow! We loved all our food from the lamb meatballs and carrot starters to the steak and pappardelle. Everything was perfect!

We had a great dinner with friends. We shared a bunch of smaller plates - the octopus with paella, the wedge salad, the boquerones, and the focaccia. Everything was amazing. Our cocktails were delicious. I ended up splitting the pasta special with my mom. It was so fresh.

This place makes Buffalo look good....like really good! We came here for a business happy hour hosted by our partners at Hartman's Distilling. Our party consisted of 10 food and beverage professionals who aren't easily impressed by just any restaurant. I have to say though, we were all blown away! The minimalist atmosphere is complimented by their open style kitchen with large wood fire grill. We enjoyed watching all of the food being made in front of us. The bar menu is fantastic. Their cocktails are perfectly crafted and the wine list is artfully selected. I started off the evening with a delicious Lemon mezcal smash. Our hosts ordered almost two of everything on the menu than we could all split. Every item that was delivered to our table was beyond good. The pate on the charcuterie board was so silky and rich, roasted carrots were a lovely surprise with their smoky taste, the wagyu special with fresh chimichurri and potato bravas was exceptional, the octopus was perfectly cooked and paired with a yummy red sauce, the ribeye was amazing and came with house made steak sauce, lamb meatballs were a hit, focaccia bread was served with a delicious koji butter, the halibut over citrus risotto was very refreshing, and all of the desserts (pavlova, chocolate hazelnut tart, mango sticky rice, and the other one I can't remember the name of) were all good....and I'm not a dessert person. The selection of premium red wines that kept getting delivered to our table were the cherry on top to this fantastic evening. If you haven't made it out to Beacon Grille yet, just do it!

The Bacon Grill is a trendy new restaurant in the Allentown area. It's inside 185 Allen Street, a building which was vacant for a quarter century. I chose this place for a ladies' get together mainly because of the 5-star reviews on Yelp. I wanted our food to be unique and outstanding. Please, make your own reservation and check this place out. We had mixed feedback, but I would definitely visit this place again in the future. Briefly, the sourdough focaccia was dense, soft, chewy and truly delicious. We probably satisfied/spoiled our appetite just enjoying this "slice of heaven on earth". It came with a generous portion of koji butter (fermenting traditional butter with koji, a type of rice mold often used in Japanese cuisine). The Flat 12 Mushroom dish looked spooky. Which is not exactly a bad thing. Perfect for Halloween. First I was surprised that the broth was lukewarm, then how it tasted in general. To be honest, it was an interesting, different savor and experience for me. Black garlic and the combination of all the ingredients made each spoonful loaded with intriguing multi dimensional sweetness. They used exclusively oyster mushrooms, I guess. The menu said the mushrooms were smoked. I wasn't a fan of its undercooked texture. The poached egg looked like an eyeball ;). The lamb meatballs were superb, and I don't even like lamb. The Scarlet Prawn Tagliatelle had a "wow factor". Five huge grilled prawns were laying over a bed of pasta covering a plate almost completely. The dish looked truly impressive at first, but next, the reality wasn't that pretty. Prepare for a mess. All the prawns were difficult to get into the meat. I didn't mind, because I sampled just one prawn :). It would be nice if there were some pre-cuts or even a simple tool provided. Moreover, we dug into all the entrails, tore apart heads and legs, to find disproportionately little proteins in such a huge carapace. Argentinian prawn's meat is definitely more delicate and mushy, without the typical bouncy, crispy and satisfying texture of a regular shrimp. I imagined a scarlet prune to be more colorful/red. The pasta was not al dente. It was fun to be part of a busy, lively crowd. This place was packed with customers on a Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, it was also loud. We really had to raise our voices to be heard. Everyone who worked there was nice and very friendly. The restaurant has a cozy and inviting vibe. Unfortunately, at one point we felt rushed by our server. She actually interrupted our conversation several times to ask if we needed anything. We arrived at six and left forty minutes after seven.

You ever leave some place and wish you could afford to indulge there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Well Beacon Grille just may be that place and I don't believe they even offer breakfast or lunch. Cost us about $100 for the two of us to dine here. The ambiance is intimate, rustic, and smart. Good use of dim lighting, woods, furniture, and open bar/dining area set up. The service we experienced from the call for reservations, to the hostess upon arrival, to the bartender who helped us narrow down our entrees, to our gem of a waitress, Julie, was superb. We sat at the bar initially as our table wasn't ready. I had a mocktail they dubbed the temprance cocktail called the 'freakin beacon'. It was sweet, tangy with a lil kick. For 'snack' we had the pickled veggies and the sardines. The puckled veggies didn't have a good balance of pickles to other vegetable ratio, which is my only complaint. The sardines were very good. For my meal, I had the halibut special with lobster risotto. The halibut was light, flakey, seasoned and cooked perfectly. My hubby had the branzino with veggies. Both were absolutely delicious!! My halibut was so good I didn't even use the hot sauce I requested, and that's saying a lot for me. My hubby didn't allow his fish to die in vein. He tore it up to the bone, giving it the respect it deserved. We also had the privilege of seeing a birthday table being served the head of a pig. Teeth and all!!! Those guests seemed to really enjoy it, so I'm adding that to my Beacon List. We passed on dessert as we were too full to even think about it, but look forward to trying the chocolate tart next time. This place is one to try one of everything on the menu.

I was told those are only available during brunch -- totally fine, I get that certain specials have set times. However, I then tried to order the martini flight that was listed on the drink menu and was told that was seasonal and no longer available. That was a bit confusing, especially since it hadn't been removed. I also wasn't offered any alternative flavors or suggestions, which felt like a missed opportunity. I ended up ordering their standard espresso martini -- which they seem to pride themselves on -- but unfortunately it tasted burnt. It also appeared that the espresso isn't made fresh, as there was a bottle of espresso sitting on the bar. For a cocktail that really depends on quality espresso, that was disappointing. However my friend did try another cocktail off their drink menu and it was delicious. To finish our visit, I waited about 10 minutes just to get my check while the bartender was engaged in conversation with other bartenders. It made the experience feel inattentive and frustrating. The space itself has a cool vibe, but overall the experience fell short of expectations. I'd love to see more consistency between the menu, social media, and what's actually available, fresher preparation for a cocktail they promote so heavily, and more attentiveness at the bar.

We were given ample time for our entire party to arrive and were not rushed at all. Our waitress was wonderful. I was debating between a couple items on the menu and opted for a salad. I ordered the Beet & Burrata salad ... um lol well if you would call it that. Two of us ordered this and we both were surprised when it came out to say the least. Basically a couple pieces of lettuce on top of chopped beets under a spicy-ish hollandaise type dressing over burrata. Or I'm assuming the dressing was what was a tad spicy. However I couldn't figure it out lol. There were a couple tiny smoked peach pieces on the side...just too smoky for my taste. Would have preferred just a fresh grilled peach. Also added a side of chicken to toss on my "salad" thinking it had a whole bed of lettuce, however could have avoided ordering that had I seen a picture of this salad beforehand - so I threw that in for you all in case you're on the fence of what to order. It was good if you like beets, but not really filling since the portion was pretty small. Loved the presentation though, gotta give them that. I also had the Oz-molitan... cosmo with blood orange ...delicious! If you like fruity drinks get it!! I tried my friends' fresh cut regular fries, the truffle fries, and also some of the pepperoni flatbread (I forget exactly what it was called, apologies) but all of those were to die for! I almost wished I had ordered those myself haha. Oh well, next time! Not a huge fan of coming downtown (only downside for me but the hubby dropped me off lol) but I would definitely come back again!

The inside was super cute. It is on main street with the train track so there is basically no parking in the vicinity so it's a cold walk during winter. We ordered Kugel Latke for an appetizer. It was fine, it tasted like uncrisp tater tots. If there was a sauce of sorts to dip it in, it would have been better besides just potato. For mains we shared two half pizzas the Fig& Pig and the Pepperoni + Honey. They were both fine, they were half sized but still didn't seem like a lot. The person I was with thought it was too much fig, but I had no problem so that is preference. Though the pork belly was mainly fat. The people with us weren't fans of their food either. They also added Truffle fries and were told it would be extra which they agreed to, but it was an additional $9 not jut 2 or 3. For the service, we assumed it was all due to the massive party but it wasn't that great. We were right in front of the bartender and our water was refilled once the entire time we were there. We also didn't get silverware and when we asked for napkins we got a single paper one. We were also at the end of the bar which is where the severs would stand or get the food which was directly next to us which was a bit annoying due to the proximity, they were as close as sitting next to us at a table. No one checked on us either thoughtout our time. Overall, the food was fine, nothing amazing. I'm assuming they get a lot of Shea's traffic which is fine if you want a drink with a snack. I would not come here for an actual meal as it is a limited menu and you don't get a lot. The service wasn't great, but we're going with it was due to the large party. None of us will be returning. It was super cute with the lights though.

We were in a bind in late 2021 when my mom came to visit and we tried again. I had left a three star review after that, but eventually felt guilty and removed it because they're in our neighborhood. Since it's been several years we decided to try again. Their Instagram post advertised a smash burger and fish sandwich specials. Right up our alley! We called up and ordered takeout. The young woman on the phone was very pleasant. The pickup experience was fine...the food? Not so good and definitely not worth $18 for each meal. The double cheeseburger patties had a spongy texture and didn't seem like a smash burger. I'm pretty sure they're pre-formed frozen pucks...or at the very least they taste like it. The fish filet sandwich was crispy and initially looked delicious, but the actual fish inside ended up being soooo mushy...very unpleasant. I had to throw it out after two bites, the texture of the fish was so off-putting. The french fries that came with both sandwiches were generous and tasted fine enough, but they were all such short pieces. I mean, I want at least a few full sized fries, yah know? The drinks here are all delicious and lovingly made. Really superb cocktails that taste good. The food is pretty good. It is clearly prepared well and presented artfully. I do think that calling a burger, "A quest for heaven" and not having it be super memorable and mind blowingly flavorful is a miss. It's a good burger and I'd eat it again but it's not a craveable item and I hoped with such a small menu it would be amazing. The charcuterie is super generously portioned and the nduja add on is a huge portion of nduja. Get the charcuterie. The crab toast was good and I'd get it again. We want to try baked brie next time. We also tried the pistachio mousse dessert and it was very pretty but lacked a lot of pistachio flavor. A chocolate cup full of unflavored but rich whipped cream and a minuscule amount of pistachio flavored something that was holding the cup to the plate. We were mostly just confused by the name of the dish versus the experience. It was good just not pistachio mousse. We actually wondered if someone accidentally prepared it wrong. We were here for an anniversary and were given free champagne before our meal and offered more at the end which we declined because of all the other lovely drinks we'd had. The service was great, the staff were polite and informed about the menu and drinks and the bartenders made wonderful things. Will be trying Saint Neri again soon.
