If I could give Hutch's 10 stars, I would! We were referred here and were fortunate to get a midweek reservation. Melissa, our waitress, was a superstar. She kept our beverages topped off, offered excellent menu recommendations, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the evening. Maxwell brought out a wonderful selection of homemade breads, perfect for soaking up every last bit of the incredibly garlicky, delicious escargot. The halibut topped with scallops was outstanding, finished with the most flavorful beurre blanc sauce I've ever tasted. My partner's seared ahi tuna was cooked to absolute perfection. Every dish was beautifully plated and expertly prepared. From the exceptional food and impeccable service to the warm atmosphere and great Buffalo NY location, Hutch's delivered an unforgettable dining experience. Had dinner at Hutch's this week first time to dine here but won't be the last! We had great service from the moment we entered the door until we left. Nice atmosphere great bar area. We started with Oysters from PEI and Mass. the bacon appetizer and tuna tartare all were very good. I had the Portuguese fish stew and it was loaded with seafood lobster, scallops, shrimp, mussels and clams. Delish!! Another wonderful experience! The food was phenomenal. This time my date and I skipped the appetizer and got dessert at the end. I went with the Monkfish and she ordered Halibut. Both were cooked to perfection. The almond cookie with fresh fruit was to die for... I never had such an exquisite bite. The crunch from the cookie, the tartness from the fruit, the sweetness from the whipped cream. Everything was so well balanced and crave-able that I contemplated ordering a 2nd dessert! Heather, our waitress, was superb. Very attentive and gave great insight on recommendations. Very friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy her job. The restaurant itself was beautiful. Best steak I've ever had, Pittsford style, fries were freaking bussing and great service.

Husband and I had an early reservation at 5:30 PM on a Friday. When we went to the host stand, I requested to be seated in the front area, which was 3/4 empty. He told me that we would have to wait for 10 minutes to be seated in that area. I asked why - he mumbled something about server availability. We opted not to wait and were seated way in the back of the original restaurant-which was fine with me. Our server and our waitress were excellent. The service was attentive, not overwhelming. I had the clams casino and the seafood special, which was excellent, and my husband had the veal chop and a salad which he loved. We split the chocolate cake dessert. I am withholding one star because of the weird Maitre d in the front that wouldn't seat me in an empty room! Overall, a good experience, but I would rather spend my money in New York City at the prices we paid! read more

Best haddock I've ever had. The tuna tartare and stuffed pepper special were also incredible. We had a great dining experience and will definitely be back. If I had any complaint, it would just be that the drinks took a little bit too long each time, but it was a busy Friday night. My friends and I made a reservation for 6 over a month in advance. Upon arrival, our table was not ready. The hostess was very rude. She ended up telling us we needed to move from the entrance and from blocking others while we were waiting. She did not show us or tell us where to go or direct us to the bar in the back. She was extremely rude and condescending acting as though we were the inconvenience. (Really both women at the front of house were rude). We waited 30-45 minutes for our table and another 50 minutes for the food. The only explanation given was that a walk in party arrived and needed a table so they offered them ours despite the reservation we had because it was the only table large enough to accommodate them. No one came to check on us at the bar or provided updates. The managers were not made aware until I went out of my way to find them and make them aware. The one even said it was unacceptable to wait that long and that they had no excuse for us. The waitress was fine. Not rude like the front of house. The busser was excellent and went above and beyond. The food was great - so it was a bummer the poor service ruined our experience. Ultimately the manager tried to make things right and comp us dessert which was also great. Just unfortunate that we ate 1.5 -2 hours past our reservation and that we experienced a rude front of house. It was also disappointing as previous experiences there were typically positive. I will think twice before choosing Hutch's over other local restaurants after this experience. read more

I have been going to Hutch's for 20 years, and the food is always excellent. I typically get the steak--personally I think it's one of the best steaks in Buffalo. Last week, I tried the salmon from their seasonal menu, by recommendation of our server, and it was phenomenal. Their homemade bread is fantastic. And for dessert, the cookie cup is one of my favorites in Buffalo. The restaurant has expanded quite a bit in size, but the level of service and quality is still consistently high. read more

My husband and I received a gift certificate here as a wedding present and we were absolutely in love. The service was 10/10 from checking in with the host, throughout the dinner, until we ended with dessert. The space is nicely decorated and has medium to low lighting with great music playing. We jammed all night to classic hits. We ordered Clams Casino, Half rack of ribs, the Seafood Jambalaya Pasta, Crispy Softshell Crab, the Blueberry Crisp, and the Crème Brûlée. Every dish was cooked and seasoned to perfection with the most amazing flavors and quality ingredients. Some items were seasonal but the entire menu is intriguing. Hutch's continues to deliver--this was my third visit in three months. We started with the ceviche and soft shell crab appetizers--both fresh and full of flavor. For our mains, the Portuguese fish stew was rich and comforting, while the jambalaya pasta packed just the right amount of heat and depth. We finished with the crème brûlée and blueberry crisp, both beautifully executed and satisfying. Menu is very straightforward & I love how it includes the origin of where the food came from. Our server was amazing, enthusiastic & helpful as he gave us wonderful recommendations for us first timers. We decided on calamari, bison steak & the steak and frites. How could you not enjoy a place with different bread offerings? Service was top tier. Ambiance was wonderful. Parking was interesting in the narrow entry way to the lot. Surprising amount of parking hidden away. My only ehh was my meal. I ordered the chicken Milanese (I know it's a steakhouse) and it was plan and needed some balsamic or something on top. We sat right next to the ramp to outside. I'm right handed and the glass was to my right, so I kept hitting it with my elbow. We tried to move the table a bit away but then it was wobbly. I don't remember the servers name, but she was good, I think I would have liked her to be slightly more attentive though. Tomato & Fresh Mozzarella Salad 10/10 Super fresh and delicious. All ingredients paired well with each other. Traditional Steak Tartare 10/10 Very flavorful and good seasoning. Steak was tender. I thought the bread was too hard and crunchy. Bison strip (daily special) 9/10 Medium. Cooked perfectly. Seasoned with salt and pepper. It was very good, I just wish it had more flavor like finished in butter and rosemary or something. Insanely good. I'm always on the hunt for the next best cooked steak, and found it here. It lived up to the hype. We went on a date night here (reservations recommended because it was packed). I got the ribeye, and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We had the tuna tar tar and the pork belly appetizer and both were also phenomenal. Hutch's is a solid spot and has become a staple visit whenever I'm in town. I focused mostly on the specials during my visit, and while some dishes were excellent, others were just okay. The escargot was great, served in a delicious buttery garlic sauce with bread for dipping. Their ribs (not pictured) are also good--great sauce and a nice char. The special monkfish, served osso buco style with shrimp and rice, was solid but didn't quite wow me. The real star was the seasonal sautéed soft shell crab. It came with rice, veggies, and an incredible white wine/buttery sauce. I returned specifically to have it again, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the first experience--the crabs were a bit anemic, the sauce lacked the bright citrus notes, and they served a smaller portion of it this time around. Service was attentive, especially by the bussers, but the wait staff service can be inconsistent. Some waiters were on point, while others seemed either too busy or less engaged to deliver the same level of service. In terms of ambiance, the move is to come here early to enjoy a nice romantic evening out. It can get quite busy and frankly loud, especially in the bar area, when you come during peak hours. Hutch's has the potential to be an exceptional dining destination, but the inconsistent food and service, along with the loud ambiance during my visits knocks it down to 4 stars IMO. I'd still recommend it, especially for those signature dishes, but there's room for improvement to make it a truly standout experience. read more

Hutch's for the win as always! Went there on a Tuesday evening to celebrate a birthday. The service is exceptional, lot of attention to detail. We sat in the bar room, which was a nice cozy experience, but maybe a bit loud. The food was excellent, from the bread basket or our entrees and appetizers. We had dinner reservations, upon arrival we were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant is a lot bigger since last time mi was here was years ago! Really nice tho. Overall ambiance was okay. A little loud as the restaurant got crowded. Our server came over, provided us the specials of the day. Gave her recommendations. Spaced out apps to entrees. Everything was delicious including our Oregon Pinot Noir. We started with oysters, had the sliced bacon which has a caramlized flavor, really good. Went here for my birthday dinner on a coworker's recommendation. The space is very nice, the space between the tables are a little tight though. The place filled up quick on a Thursday night so definitely make a reservation ahead of time! Our server was very nice, attentive and informative about the specials for the night. We actually ended up going with his recommendations for the appetizers. The drinks and the food were all delicious and I would definitely order everything again! The portions were all really big. My one critique would be that the shishito peppers needed more salt or it needed to be salted a bit more evenly. My husband was getting full but I convinced him to split a dessert and he was glad he did. The sticky toffee pudding with the vanilla gelato was a great way to end our dinner. read more

I drove by this restaurant many, many times, but never visited. It was time to change that. We were seated in the original part of the restaurant (before they expanded into the former flower shop). That part looks small, but I noticed there were more rooms and a bar area somewhat hidden in the back. The tables are a bit close together. I was in a steak mood and they have several options. I went for the. beef tenderloin "au poivre", an 8oz. peppercorn crusted steak, , pan-seared with a brandy cream sauce. It was served with some pieces of squash on a bed of spinach and a generous serving of mashed potatoes. I requested medium rare and the chef delivered. The sauce was great. Hutch's had been a go to date night favorite for us for years. The fact that that this never wavered is the secret sauce of the total experience. The staff is a total vibe. I feel like Norm from Cheers when we come here (even after a 6 month absence). The braised short ribs were phenomenal as usual. Even the appetizers were exceptional. The Thai fried calamari is a must have appetizer. Last but not least was the bar service. The whiskey list is well curated & the Som is a total expert and very personable. We were sat in the elegant and beautiful front dining room. We ordered wine and the caramelized bacon appetizer which was five stars! My wife ordered the bison steak which was cooked to medium rare perfection! I ordered the steak Au Poivre and was blown away at how tasty this was! Came here for a group dinner and had a wonderful experience. This is a place to go to celebrate a special occasion, or to impress a date. Our group split a few appetizers with the table including calamari, stuffed poblano and stuffed jalapeños - all great. The bread basket had a variety of bread and came with a spicy oil. Awesome wine menu, including a few New York State wines. For my first course I had the lobster bisque which was delicious, followed by the Nova Scotia Halibut which came with 2 scallops and veggies. Phenomenal! I had heard amazing things about Hutch's for years and finally made it in for a surprise birthday dinner from my friends. Each and every one of us absolutely loved and raved over our meals and drinks. Some of the freshest oysters and a delicious meatball to start our night, with espresso martini's and wine. I had the pork chop special with pear chutney and WOW, the biggest and moist cut of pork I've had with an amazing flavor profile. I had the fruit cookie for dessert and it was absolutely divine. Our server, Amanda, was so friendly and helpful, suggesting apps, working with my friend to find the perfect red wine for her, and even humoring my other friend to pick a meal and surprise her- and she picked well! Good service makes all the difference and we can't say enough about her and the atmosphere here. I have friends who routinely come to Hutch's and all I can say is I've been influenced and hope to return much more frequently! Fish was perfectly cooked and the cream sauce was amazing with a nice amount of various peppercorns. We were seated at a two person table which I think is really too small for two people, but I soon discovered that the tables with 4 place settings would fill up quickly. We had an earl(5:30) reservation; the restaurant was quite full when we left(at least the room we were in. There are more rooms, but they seemed to be closed off last night.) I ordered the Faroe Island Salmon. It was perfectly cooked, served on a bed of garlic spinach. The salmon was grilled and Cajun seasoned. There were 3 oven roasted red potatoes and nice grilled slices of red bell pepper and yellow squash. The bread is not a basket on the table but rather a "bread lady" offering slices of tomato focaccia, a rosemary cheesy bread or a slice of baguette. She return a second time while we were waiting for our dinners. The bread slices were delicious; this serving method also prevents waste. It's not inexpensive to eat here, but worth every bite. read more
