The newest "must-try" restaurant in Buffalo! Nestled in the heart of Allentown, Beacon Grille offers incredible ambiance with plenty of seating, a beautiful bar, and awesome views of the kitchen. I've visited the restaurant twice and here are my thoughts on the menu: Cocktails: The "Nothin' But A Tea Thang" was fruity and sweet but utterly delicious. Also wanted to rave about the "Knowledge Books," which was just as tasty. Appetizers/small plates: The Focaccia bread with koji butter is arguably the best bread I've ever had. A no-brainer to start your meal. The charred octopus was brilliantly prepared and equally delectable. The wood oven roasted carrots and house pickled vegetables were good, but somewhat forgettable by the end of the meal. Large plates: The smoked duck breast was a home run. Unbelievable flavor and tenderness. Even better than Billy Club's, which says a lot! I also tried the venison special, which came with an extremely large portion. The meat was excellent and cooked to perfection. My girlfriend tried the fresh pasta (mushroom) and said it was fantastic. One large plate to avoid: the Calabrian sausage. We weren't big fans of the taleggio and didn't think the dish was quite on the same level as some of the other entrees. Dessert: The panna cotta... I'm still dreaming about it! A light and flavorful way to end the meal. Overall, I'd highly recommend paying this restaurant a visit. Between the food, drinks, and service, the staff provide a unique dining experience that you'll almost certainly enjoy. Beacon Grille is an awesome addition to Buffalo's growing restaurant scene. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The cocktails menu is dynamic and refreshing and hard to choose just one. During my first visit the bartender recommended their downtown cheerio cocktail which was wonderful, and I highly recommend the fennel and flow. The ambiance is warm, chic and inviting with exposed brick, soft lighting, and gorgeous wooden wall pieces from a local artist. The late night menu has a great mix from appetizer style options to brick oven pizzas, smash burger and desserts. They are one of the few restaurants serving quality food after midnight sicnce covid hit and appreciated by industry workers and night owls alike. I'm admittedly a food snob who doesn't think twice about flying to NYC as many times I'm just underwhelmed by restaurants here. My first thought yesterday was "he can put this place in West Village and it would kill it". I've followed Bruce everywhere he's cooked. Felt blessed to be in his new restaurant with my best friend just enjoying the fact he's doing things his way and seeing his dream come true. Needless to say everything I ate was outstanding, fresh flavorful, local, etc. Got to chat with his lovely wife about the wine I had, service good, ambiance great. First time in this restaurant very new in Allentown. Looking clean and friendly. I tried the Charred Octopus, and it came out dressed in roasted tomato fried chicken pea and a romescu sauce. Tasted great. The next small plate was Crispy Sunchokes. I don't remember ever eating them before, but the way they were prepared it reminded me of mushroom potatoes. It may have been the drinks. I tried the knowledge books cocktail but subbed in mescal, instead of the gin tasted good for a pink drink. I enjoyed a glass of vinho Verde with my Octopus and Sunchokes. Finally, an espresso martini that was D-elicious deep coffee flavor. But,wait, Blueberry compote Panna Cotta for dessert that truly hit the spot. I was there a couple weeks ago with my two sons 19 and 22 and I've been meaning to write the review for a while. This is a beautiful restaurant with a great vibe and the seasoned staff that was incredibly professional. We went on a Saturday at 5 o'clock as we had an event that we went to earlier, and I wanted my sons to experience this restaurant. I am familiar with the chef and his last three stops and his house made charcuterie. We parked around the corner on Elmwood Avenue and went in the front door and to the host station and were greeted promptly and chose to sit outside as it was a beautiful evening. The restaurant inside was impressive. You could see all the staff hard at work behind the counter in front of wood oven. It is a very sophisticated menu and I thought that I would have a problem feeding my sons. Their diet is not as adventurous as mine. Everyone was eating the focaccia bread so that was a given for an appetizer, then tried the grilled octopus as well as the charcuterie board. It was all very good. I did not like the pickled vegetables on the charcuterie board. They were all very hard. I remember from the past that the chef used to put stewed cherries on the board as well, which was a perfect compliment to the cheese as well as the housemade cold cuts. My sons each had the "Pink" brick chicken, which they liked very much. I chose the whole Branzino. I thought the flavors of the fish were great. But it was such a small fish and there were so many bones. It was difficult to get a good bite. So it was a bit frustrating. However, the flavor was there just a little heavy on the chimichurri. It was a nice summer evening and everyone around me was enjoying wine and my sons don't drink so I ended up going off script and getting two Hendrickson Gin and Tonics which were wonderful. We ordered two desserts: one was the Panna cotta which was exceptional, as well as I believe a chocolate pie, however two weeks have gone by, and and I'm getting old, and can't recall exactly. Desserts were great. It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back and try other things on the menu. The place has a big city vibe, and big city pricing. Both were expected. This place is a serious restaurant that I highly recommend people try. read more

Beacon Grille is a much needed addition to the Buffalo food "scene" but there is room for improvement. The service is warm, attentive and considerate but not at all overbearing. It's obvious that a considerable amount of thought has gone into the design of the restaurant and the menu, though the latter suffers a little where it shows its Buffalo roots (nubs, blue cheese wedge salad, Pink bricks), occasional near plagiarism of Little Club and gimmicks (focus on perfecting the bone marrow dish and drop the luge). The bone-in ribeye is a massive missed opportunity and probably the reason I won't go back regularly. No steak should be served without sauce options and their house steak sauce sadly channels A1 rather than French pan sauces, the same issue that the much less serious Lucky Day has. Put a few real sauces on the menu and charge for them or have a standing chimichurri sauce and you'll have the best steak in the city. Another smaller note about the steak. The first time I ordered it I asked for medium rare and got something closer to well done. The second time I ordered medium rare and it was almost perfect -- charred just a little too much (and I like a nice char). The cheese plate is overly simple and not recommended. People in Buffalo are very easy to please so Beacon will likely thrive despite my few gripes, but I hope they do iron out these small creases as I would love to be a regular. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open for months, and had built up my expectations SO MUCH by the time it finally opened- but last night, it 100% met those high expectations!! We ordered: My partner loved the boquerones, which came complemented with a lovely sweet and salty sultana-caperberry salsa. But my favorite was by far the mushrooms dish- I've been thinking about it and decided I could happily eat it every day. The depth of the broth's flavor alone was absolutely incredible. The shallow bowl held a lot of the smoked mushroom and black garlic broth with tender, browned whole oyster mushrooms on top, as well as a soft-boiled egg with a luscious, velvety yolk that mixed well with the liquid around it. All this softness and liquid was perfectly contrasted and balanced with lovely crunchy water chestnuts and a fried shallot topping. Second fave was the grilled peach burrata salad, which came with the fruit blackened with flavorful char on one side, a ball of split burrata, and a few whole mint and basil leaves on top. The char on the peaches made them taste very deep and luxurious- and almost meaty from umami. Burrata can take a dish over the top, but this one was already there. We also ordered the wedge salad, entree size, and duck breast, served rare - I'm not usually a duck fan unless it's confited. This one was heaven! Again, we could taste how the use of a wood grill had changed the surface flavor and inside- but surprisingly, at no point did the wood grill become an identifiable repeated flavor among the dishes, like how can sometimes be the case for charcoal. The entree-size wedge was served with a generous handful of really beautiful, thickly cut lardons. I'm not usually one for a mouthful of fat, but the fat on these wasn't jellylike, but crisp and melted in your mouth- a closer experience to eating chicharrones somehow. I don't know if these pigs are eating something fancier, or if it was the wood fire, or something else, but the flavor was really amped up here as well. These lardons, along with the sweet confit tomatoes, elevated this dish that even in its usual version is a classic for a reason. Finally, many drinks lists can be a bummer for someone in recovery like me! While mocktails are becoming trendier, often restaurants still encourage folks looking for alcohol-free drinks to order NA versions of their featured regular cocktails. As well as this inevitably being a sadder version of the original (tastes like someone just made a classic drink incorrectly) On more than one occasion at other Buffalo restaurants, the waiter and bartender have gotten mixed up and served me an alcoholic drink... Beacon Grille takes the anxiety and risk out of the occasion by specially crafting and presenting three mocktails ("temperance cocktails") on a separate section of their menu. I usually stick to seltzer, but ended up having two of their "freakin beacon" drinks as they were so enjoyable- green tea, passionfruit puree, citrus and a lil interesting hit of cayenne pepper. Verdict: If we could pull it off, I'd eat here once a week. read more

Our son recently moved near Allen Street so we thought we would start to try some restaurants. beacon Grille did not disappoint. Right from the start our waitress, Megan was so kind, friendly and made great suggestions. I loved the fact that they have an open kitchen, which is my new favorite thing! The bar was hopping, but it wasn't too loud that you couldn't talk. The food.. well let's just say awesome. We started with grilled octopus and lamb meatballs. Nothing was left. My husband and son ordered the bone in rib-eye and they were cooked to perfection. I ordered the Coippino and there was so much food I couldn't finish it. But we had the chocolate Nutella tort and the grape crumble for dessert. Definitely going back. Great place and wonderful experience! read more

We had a wonderful dining experience with some friends here. I had a smoked manhattan, wedge salad, and the Ribeye. My wife ordered the Lobster Risotto and loved it. Our friends got the Sable Fish. Everything was of the highest quality and executed perfectly. We found the wait staff to be friendly and efficient. They took the time to explain yet allowed us to chat and decide what to eat. If you're going in the winter time may i suggest taking a table near the door only if you're wearing warm clothes- it can be a little drafty. $$$ Thank you Beacon Grille! read more

Everything was amazing except for a couple of yellow jackets but it is August! The staff was particularly wonderful!

Dining room was full but we were able to get seats at the bar after some shuffling around of a few kind customers. Cocktails were very good. Only had a few small plates but they were really amazing. You have to get the octopus! We had to force ourselves to stop eating the Foccacia bread so we could finish the rest of our food. Very cozy atmosphere and I can't wait to revisit this gem when I come back to Buffalo in the winter. May even skip the table next time and enjoy the bar again. read more

Buffalo definitely has a new kid on the block in terms of top tier dining. Beacon Grille checks all the right boxes and some. The wedge salad is one of a kind with the house bacon/dressing, while the octopus is a must try. The house made focaccia and accompanying butter were delicious. Roasted carrots, lamb meatball and house charcuterie really added to the culinary journey. The ribeye and wagu strip, were, well, remarkable. Perfectly prepared, seasoned and with a nice char from the wood-fired grill. The accompanying sides and sauces only amplified an already memorable steak experience. Service was very good both times we went. Minus 1 star because it's extremely loud in the dining room...you really can't hear the people at your table. Food was good. I had the 1/2 chicken entree, I enjoyed the taste. Would have liked to seen different appetizer options, a bone marrow app didn't do it for me, but to each their own. Octopus was a nice choice. Would like to see something other than $25 meat or cheese boards. It was loud in the restaurant maybe due to the space size, idk, but hard to hear people at my table at times. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Draft beer was down due to an issue, but I didn't mind. The place was exceptionally clean to include the bathrooms. I'd return if friends wanted to go, but not sure if it's just my partner and I. New favorite place to experience food you may never have eaten before. Most entrees grilled over an open flame adds so much flavor. We had the halibut, perfectly cooked, light fish. Grilled octopus and duck breast are also to die for. Equally delicious were the fresh potatoes, carrots, chick peas that accompanied the entrees. Drink specials were equally excellent. Our server Robert, was especially attentive and knowledgeable when it came to deciding what to choose. Very relaxed atmosphere, didn't feel rushed or pressured in any way to finish our meal.
