Not sure if I should be writing this review at the moment because I'm deep, deep in food coma land right now. Holy cow. My parents rave about this place all the time and I finally got to see why. The Kitchen Sink is trendy, intimate, and comfortable. The prices are those of a high quality restaurant, but so is the food, service, and dining experience. Wow, the laundry list of things that we ate tonight. Kreplach's filled with brisket; brisket grilled cheese; mushroom cannelloni; cavatelli with smoked walnuts and squash; chicken pie that was absolutely delightful; steak with beefy onions, brussels, parsnips, and cheese fondue; almond pound cake with cranberries and cream; and dark, rich, aromatic French press coffee. I'm back in my food coma just thinking about it. The restaurant is not large, so I definitely recommend a reservation. I watched the staff handle with grace several people who came in without reservations, including one who was insistent that the website said they had tables for walk ins. (Those seats were already taken.) The bathroom is super cute and smells lovely. If you eat here, you should definitely check out the bathroom. On the whole we had a wonderful time. It's a small restaurant with a weekly changing menu, and it's clearly a labor of love. I'm glad that we finally got to try it and I'm looking forward to the summer when we can enjoy their outdoor seating. So, if you're looking for a place to eat and you feel like you've tried everything but the kitchen sink.... then definitely try out Kitchen Sink. read more

What a treat! I have to say, Kitchen Sink truly knocked it out of the park, even in comparison with some of our favorite restaurants in New York City where we live. My cauliflower dish was one of the more complex and hearty vegan main dishes I've had in some time, and my partner was thoroughly impressed with his steak as well. Both were sprinkled with flakes of fine sea salt which really made the flavors pop. And the desserts -- including a gorgeous chocolate cake and a very nice vegan ice cream dish (with a truly unique miso caramel sauce!) -- are not to be missed. We did unfortunately witness a few very nasty individuals walk in without a reservation, and then make quite a fuss upon discovering that they could not be seated immediately in this clearly very small (and charming -- and clearly very popular!) space. Such a shame to see the lovely and attentive waitstaff be so mistreated. My advice: put Kitchen Sink at the top of your Beacon dining list -- and make reservations well in advance! read more

With the very limited options we found on Main Street in Beacon, we were lucky enough to snag bar seats on a busy Saturday night. We got the charred Broccoli, brisket dumplings, pork belly and the duck ragu. The brisket, broccoli and pork belly were delicious! A lot can go wrong with pork belly because if the fat is not rendered enough it can taste like a glob of fat. Fortunately they did a great job with cooking it and paired it well with some pear and slaw. The duck ragu was a bit disappointing with the fresh pasta being overcooked and breaking apart when we picked up the pasta with our forks. The ragu also lacked seasoning and was bland. Service here was fine but they dropped one of our bread and never came back to give us another one. As the place is very small we did at times feel a bit rushed. My dinner was spoiled by a service error. While the server apologized, she neither offered to make things right nor asked how she could. In detail, we were a party of three; as entrees, I ordered maitake, my companions scampi and lamb tagine. The server first brought the scampi and maitake, but misidentifying the maitake, announced it as the tagine and placed it in front of my companion who had ordered tagine; my companion, not knowing what to expect, naturally started eating when I encouraged everyone not to wait for me to get my food. When the server came back a couple of minutes later with the lamb and put it in front of me, I immediately saw and pointed out the mistake. But by that time my own entree looked like someone else's leftovers, and perhaps a quarter of what was always ever going to be a dainty portion was now gone. If I'd initiated a fuss, say by sending my food back to the kitchen, that would have embarrassed my companions. And the staff knew I was a vegan, so I was never just going to have some of my companion's lamb to round out my dinner. So beyond missing the pleasure of seeing the presentation, I actually walked out the restaurant hungry despite ordering a $39 entree. It's worth noting that this establishment always includes the service charge in the bill. BTW, the dish was delicious. read more

I booked reservations here for my husbands birthday dinner. The restaurant is small so I was glad I did! Appetizer: Kreplach, very interesting dish however it did seem to lack flavor and only 3 come out, which when sharing apps is always a weird choice for a restaurant. Entree: I had the Porchetta with broccoli rabe and a puree. Wonderful delicious dinner at kitchen sink. One of the best I ever had. We are from Philly area and had dined at amazing places, kitchen sink supper club is right up there with the best. Small dishes -6 plates plus dessert. The waiter asked what our favorite course. We had a tough time deciding as all were delicious. My pick was Venison and it was amazing. The menu changes monthly. We stopped in yesterday for Sunday brunch. The place is small and cozy and doesn't take reservations. We were a party of 4 and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Luckily, Beacon has a bunch of small shops so we explored while waiting for the text from the restaurant. The menu changes often so it was different than what appeared online but great options all around. Among the four of us, we ordered the weekly egg sandwich special (with maple sausage), the chicken biscuits with gravy, the huevos rancheros and I had the Eggs in Purgatory. We ordered the Apple French Toast to share. The Eggs in Purgatory came out hot and bubbly in a cast iron pan. The sauce was perfectly spicy with a great ratio of sauce:cheese:egg. I asked for extra bread on the side to soak it all up! Friends seemed to like their dishes too. The huevos had perfectly charred cauliflower and the guacamole was just tangy enough! The challah french toast was what you'd expect, not overly sweet. Great experience! There were quite a few parties that came looking for a table only to be turned away since they close at 1:45 which seems awfully early for Sunday brunch. read more

We were very excited to dine at the kitchen sink. We had heard nothing but good things and it's almost impossible to get a table because they are always booked. I would give the food 3 stars. We ordered butternut squash soap, that was presented beautifully, but unfortunately was served cold. The other appetizer we ordered were the brisket dumplings, they were good but forgettable. Our mains were the the duck gnocchi and the sea bass. We were nervous the duck gnocchi would be to rich/filling for us, so we asked our waiter for his opinion, which was "it's very lite, you should be fine". Well it was lite, they only give you 4 gnocchi. The duck however was seasoned and cooked well. There was a mix up with our order and they brought us out a different main, which wasn't really a problem for us because it was quickly replaced with the sea bass we ordered. The sea bass was the highlight and very delicious. I'm giving the Kitchen Sink a 3, but the customer service we received with the mix up was excellent and truly appreciated! read more

The beet soup was delicious, very flavorful and a generous portion which could be shared. Chickpea ravioli - this was something different and very beautifully presented. The flavors were nice, but I wish the portion size was a little bigger, especially given the price. Cauliflower tostada - my husband and I thought this was ok, but would have been better as a shared appetizer. It wasn't filling enough to be an entree. Definitely worth checking out while in Beacon. I came on a Sunday. The food was okay for standard brunch food. I ordered the baked salmon. My boyfriend ordered the hominy with merguez sausage. The first thing that I noticed was that our waiter did not pay any attention to us once we were seated. i guess we arrived at a busy time, but he barely took the time to greet us or bring us our menus. He continued to serve various people and finally gave us our menus. Then, he took forever to take our orders. The most offensive action was when our waiter told everyone the specials for the day and he never did that for us! How rude! Nevertheless, I will comment on the food. The baked salmon was okay, but mine was FILLED with feta cheese, too much feta cheese that it drowned the salmon. I tried my boyfriend's meal and the hominy was okay, but the merguez sausage was too salty for my taste. Again, the service ruined the experience for me. This is a place where, to me, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. But I had to say that because the one particular part which was the reason I came in for the first time, the Monday fried chicken special, wasn't quite as awesome as I was hoping. It's definitely a good deal, with the chicken, mac & cheese, cole slaw, pickle, corn bread, and $4 beers. The "three" pieces of chicken I got were a breast, a thigh, and HALF of a wing. The other person with me also got a breast, a thigh, and the other half of the wing. Your third piece of chicken is one-half of a wing? The chicken itself was moist, but the batter coating on my pieces was rather heavy, had a burn spot on the thigh the size of a quarter, and there's almost no spiciness in the crust - clearly Northern fried chicken. But absolutely no complaints about any other part of the meal, or the beer deal or the beer selection, or the menu offerings for the other nights of the week. I enjoy everything else about this place, but I have a bone - or rather half-a-bone - to pick with them about the chicken. read more

This place is really fantastic. I spent the day at DIA and decided to come here for dinner. Let me just start by saying this... make a reservation! I am not sure if you will be able to eat here otherwise on the weekend. Luckily we had one for the time of opening on a Saturday evening and let me tell you 20 minutes into opening this place was already packed. The menu is rather unique, not too large and really nice. Funny enough even the bread that they had for the table was amazing. Soft yet with a real crisp consistency. We kept asking for more throughout our dinner. For my entree I decided to go with the skirt steak; Sous vide skirt steak, ramp chimichurri, roasted fingerling potatoes, almond romesco, pickled ramps. The flavor on this dish was superb. It is going to be a party on your palate because you will taste all of the flavors that this dish has to offer. They also have dishes like gnocchi, crab, chicken liver, scallops and pork belly just to name a few. I was observing peoples dishes coming out of the kitchen and everything looked incredible with a beautiful presentation. This restaurant is special. We came to visit for the weekend and chose Kitchen Sink because of how they regularly change their menu based on what ingredients are available for the season. And every item we got was incredible. We had: Starters: house pickles and watermelon and tomato salad Entrees: - chicken (crispy and served with huge salad) - cod (crispy, served over grits and topped with a tangy salsa of pickled green vegetables and basil) And the portions were huge. "Go on Monday nights for the fried chicken" they would say. "Oh it's just the cutest little spot with the best food" they would say. Finally, after what feels like forever but really has been less than 2 years, I made it to Kitchen Sink Food & Drink in Beacon. Didn't go on Monday night for fried chicken, will have to venture back for that another time, but I did order some fried chicken for Sunday Brunch. Crispy fried chicken tenders sandwiched between flaky/fall-apart biscuits with pimento cheese spread and a slice of bacon, served with cole slaw and home fries. The combination intrigued me right off the bat, as did the Grandma's Brisket Grilled Cheese.... Oh how I hate to be torn with such tempting choices! Our Server, Edward, was a doll, the food was fresh and beautifully presented, and the bacon was crispy (I don't know about you but that's a "make it or break it" for me). Kitchen Sink is a small restaurant, they do have an outdoor patio which is lovely this time of the year. What a fantastically quaint spot! Stumbled upon this gem when I was in town with some friends and was looking for a good brunch. Found this spot on Yelp of course and based off of the reviews I was excited to try it. We got there just in time and were seated immediately, one thing I loved is how small the dining room was, but keep in mind this is not the place for a large crowd. It has a more intimate setting which I enjoyed. Drink menu was the only thing I was sad about. I wish there were more options for alcoholic drinks for brunch. I typically am not a huge fan of beer or wine during brunch. I'm more interested in a fun mimosa with different juice options or even a Bloody Mary. But there was only beer wine, and original mimosas. Mimosas were strong though so that was a plus! Best part of the entire experience was the meal I was served! Let's start with I'm from the south so chicken, biscuits, and Gravy Is a huge staple. This was hands down the 2nd best chicken biscuits and gravy I have every had. And that's a huge statement. We came to Kitchen Sink for a rare date night while visiting family in the area. We started with picked veggies. It felt like a place with good pickles and I was right. They were delicious (strong on vinegar, which I love but might not be for everyone). Next I had a sort of deconstructed mushroom ravioli with beet puree, which was excellent. My husband had a potato soup he enjoyed as well. For the main course we had Indian spiced cauliflower, which was surprisingly complex, and the onion soup steak. The steak was the only disappointment of the night. It was overly fatty, and overcooked. We opted to skip dessert to try a nearby ice cream shop instead. There is a limited wine selection, as well as beer and cider available. No full bar. Be aware, the place is *tiny *. I think I counted 7 tables, plus a couple stools at a bar counter. So if you want in, definitely make a reservation. Ladies, there is nowhere to put a purse at most of the tables (chairs have a round back you can't hang one on) so be prepared to keep it in your lap or put it on the floor. Kitchen Sink Food and Drink is a total gem in Beacon with a menu that is changed seasonally. While the offerings are few, they provide their guests with variety such as: fish, chicken, duck, and even a vegetarian option. While I am not vegetarian, I opted to have the carrot purée risotto with squash and toasted hazelnuts. The complexity of flavors was absolutely amazing and it was forward on the palate with sweet but then immediately the shift to salty, savory and even umami seemed to kick in making it a very complex dish that was to be thoroughly enjoyed. To start, I had the brisket kreplach, because let's be honest, how often does one have the opportunity to even have kreplach anymore at a restaurant?! The appetizer was served with three and it was absolutely divine. It was a real throw back to my roots, and I would safely assume the owners roots as well. The juxtaposition of flavorful brisket wrapped inside the kreplach dough that was perfection, was a really treat and something I will be talking about for a long time to come. Our server, Jessie, was attention, professional, and helpful. We sat outside and the heat lamp hanging overhead was a wonderfully toasty welcoming addition to the night really making it feel like it's finally fall. The French press coffee is strong and superb. Kitchen Sink was fine. We arrived about five minutes before our reservation on a Friday night and had to wait about ten minutes past it. Ok, it happens. The place is small. To start - our server was, to put it best, awkward. He would stoop down and not really say anything... do you want me to speak first? Also, the front room is so small that everyone vibes you when you walk in. Close quarters for sure. There is only beer and wine, and the wine is displayed on the menu somewhat haphazardly. The pours are pretty small, so I see why people opted for bottles. The food was again, fine. There were very few options for vegetarians or pescatarians, which sucked because the online menu still displayed a scallop option which was not available in restaurant. I opted for the risotto dish and husband got the steak. He reported that the steak was yummy (it came out on a comically large tray. We are in the "where is the plate" club), but not terribly memorable. My risotto was great, smooth and buttery, with the crisp hazelnuts a wonderful touch. I just wish the entree included something else, some protein, etc. for the price. It was also just a lot of the same thing. I would maybe be back if someone suggested for a special occasion, but my expectations are definitely lowered. read more

One of the finest meals I've been to in recent history. Most important: the wine list is excellently curated. The choices are limited, but excellent. They go local. My partner and I sat at the bar, which wasn't really a bar, but more like a sink where they kept stuff. But don't let that fool you. The bread came out piping hot, two biscuits. I usually just tell the waiter to take it back. But they were steaming hot, so I decided to forgo that rule, which was an excellent decision. It was like eating heaven, the bread transporting lightness and toasty air it right into your face, with butter. I wanted them to serve more. Our two appetizers: my friend refused to share her apple tart, so while it was probably pretty good, my friend is terrible. I give her a 1 star. She didn't find my chicken pate appealing, but in culinary school we recognize that making good pate, like french fries, or a skirt steak, is a basic place to rank competence. I think she hates cilantro and oysters. This puts strain on our friendship. The pate was a delight. It was served over another biscuit, with a blueberry jam on the top. I can't explain how it worked, but the fat and salt and sweet just were in perfect proportions. Usually I like to separate my blueberries from anything before dessert, but this worked. I ordered the Butter Chicken, a variation of a Chicken Tikka Masala, which was served over pureed fava beans. The half-chicken was incredibly tender, and the flavors subtle, and complementary. The chef brings India and France together, delightfully. My friend had the grilled cheese brisket, which will expand your horizons. It easily risked being too salty, but the chef allowed the quality of the meat and cheese to speak for themselves. Lastly - the wines. As a sommelier, I appreciate their philosophy. They chose excellent local grapes, some of which will be unfamiliar to the person used to cheap Malbecs and Chardonnays: Vidal Blanc and Friuliano, for example, are atypical, but they are wonderful. You don't get a lot of choices, but trust them. The waitress was well informed, and I decided not to act like a wine prick by trying to assert that I also knew something for the point of my own pride. My partner chose the (from Virginia) Pinot Grigio, which was an excellent example of the grape, with grass and slate, an a little more bodied than the usual. The Reisling was delightful - dry, young, tree fruit, full bodied. The Vidal Blanc and Gamay were also delightful - the Gamay being full bodied compared to a traditional French Beaujolais. I typically eschew dessert, but the Chocolate Mousse was a step above. It was enhanced by little bits of fudge like additions, and some crunchy bits to make it even more enjoyable to the palate. I live about 55 minutes away, and would routinely make this my go-to a high end restaurant. The total cost: $145, tip included. This was two appetizers, four glasses of wine, two entrees and a single dessert. Less than Blue Hill, but it's not chicken and wings during the local happy hour either. For entrees, I had the pork belly which had grilled pear and salad on top. It was good but a bit one-noted. Beautifully presented though! My boyfriend had the steak, medium rare. It was cooked well but was VERY salty.... there was minced garlic/onion/mushroom on top which made it even saltier. Also had gristle that should have been cut off prior to cooking. Service was great. The long and short of it: Great Food Great Service My friend and I were visiting from out of town and our friend who is a local recommended this place to us. It's just about the only 'fine dining' restaurant in Beacon. We called an hour before we wanted to eat on a Saturday night and they were able to take our reservation which was impressive. It has a very hip vibe, chill staff, and tasty food! I had the lamb meatballs which were good, but had a strangely bitter sauce, and my friends both had the steak which was delicious (but served on strange prison-esque lunch trays) We also got the almond pound cake with cranberries for desert. Since we were the last ones there, our waiter even gave us an extra big piece! The cake was DELICIOUS! Cranberries were a strange pairing with it. The restaurant is cozy and charming - we sat in the window lounging on some pillows....and there's an outside patio for next time. The food was DELICIOUS. Looks like a very busy place during the weekend. The wait time for a tale is at least 90 mins when we came. We were really lucky to be able to be seated right away at the bar for dinner. Staff: 5/5 The waitress/bartender was very nice and friendly but was also not afraid of kicking some drunk customers out of the restaurant (yes and it was only 7:30pm) so kodos to her!! We had an amazing tasting menu New Orleans inspired meal at this small reservations only restaurant. The meal was pared with wines and beer selected by the chef. If you are looking for a restaurant where they value the size of the portions vs the complexity of the flavors and textures in the dish this should not be your choice of a restaurant. They accommodated dietary needs ( vegan , allergies etc. ) but don't expect to tell the chef how to cook your meal. The dinner was-not traditional New Orleans fair but the essence of the traditional flavors were prevalent and it was delicious. The venue is small,expect to be seated with other diners. On a Sunday morning around 11, there was already a 40 minute wait for brunch. This wait gave us enough time to wander Main Street for a while; we got a call and text when our table was ready. We sat inside, though there's a huge space in the back with tables, as well. The menu has about 10 brunch items, including an egg sandwich special. My husband got the special, which included bacon and a nice spread. The bread was thick and toasted. I got the fried chicken on a biscuit, which was supreme. I only wish the biscuit hadn't crumbled immediately. The French press coffee came out in a huge metal container and is definitely enough to split between two people. It was a little on the weaker side, which surprised me since it was made with a press. I love the sleek look of the restaurant and funky light fixtures. Chill, unique spot. Check it out! read more

Really fun farm to table restaurant. We shared an salad, which was fine but we could have done without our. There was a great wine selection, and our server gave great pairing suggestions for our main courses. I had the pork belly and my partner had the pasta. Both were expertly created and we so filling. I've never dined like this before. Sat with my wife and a few strangers, all served the same food and all at the same time. And all of it was delicious. My wife was pregnant and they made substitutions that we both liked a lot. As a testament to the cuisine, my wife hates peas of all sorts and the chef had a dish showcasing peas that she absolutely loved. My only complaint is that it is tight seating, which I don't love in a pandemic because I don't know how COVID-cautious my table-mates are. I've been here twice now. The first time, we came on fried chicken night which was fantastic. We were upset because we wanted to try all the other menu items. If we hadn't been back, we would have continued to think back to our great fried chicken memories. Unfortunately, we came back. This time, we had the asparagus soup, crab blintz, scallop pie, steak, and grilled cheese. The one delicious item we had was the asparagus soup - great flavor. The blintz and scallop pie had no taste. The steak was cooked to death when we asked for medium rare. The grilled cheese was a greasy mess. Unfortunately, all four of us got sick on the 2-hour drive back to the city. The service was fine. Our party of 4 wasn't allowed to sit at any of the tables, so they stuck us at the bar. The large tables that could have accommodated us remained empty the entire time we were there. read more
