I used their Wash and Fold service and it was such a good experience. Fast, High Quality, Cheap - I can't recommend them enough!

Never thought I'd review a laundromat, but this one left us with quite an impression. Since we had about 5 loads to do this weekend, we thought it'd be better to head to a nearby laundromat than to wrangle with the old machines in the basement. We were lucky to find Beacon Street Laundromat - it made a chore that I absolutely abhor kinda...pleasant. We were greeted by the owner who was super friendly. The place is super clean and always has great music. There's free wifi and lots of magazines, and a nice area to sit to read or do some work while you wait for your stuff to get clean. Prices are reasonable. Will be back! read more

I'm not quite sure why it never occurred to me before, but I took my bedspread in today to be washed, rather than washing it myself. The relief of not having to sit in front of the dryers all day flipping and checking on it was enough to justify the cost, which was incredibly reasonable. For larger items, such as bedspreads and quilts, Beacon Street Laundromat charges $1.50 per pound. My total came to $9.00 for my item and it was money well spent! I will definitely be going back to this place (even though I pass by all the time and have lived down the street for over a year) for my laundry needs! read more

I got my massive bed covers and blankets washed here, lugged in two trips from my car. Parking is available off the street. There are 3 tiers of machines - small, medium and large - depending on how bulky your laundry load may be. The proprietor is very helpful and will give advice on what works best if you ask. Detergent is available for purchase for a reasonable price. The washers and driers are quick and efficient, the machines finished everything in about an hour. I just wish I hadn't waited like 3 years before I realized I could wash my bedding at a laundromat like this with large machines... read more

Laundromats are one of those things that I'm always paranoid about finding. However, this place takes the cake by far. Incredibly clean, with nearly all machines in working order (as opposed to Sweet Laundry up the road, where about a quarter of the machines don't work). Yes, it may be a teeny bit more expensive to wash, but the machines are enormous ($6 for five-load monster machines, $4.50 for three-load, $3.00 for normal-sized), which is perfect if you're like me and let your laundry pile up for a long time before doing it, plus the dryers are cheap ($.25/8 min). The gentleman who works here (apparently Dominic, based on other reviews) is incredibly helpful. Free wi-fi, great tunes (since I've been here today, jazz, U2, and the Kinks), and Cafe Rustica next door if you want coffee and/or lunch. This place is the Rolls Royce of laundromats. I'll be honest, I wouldn't have written this review if I weren't leaving in a month, because I wouldn't want all of you coming here and making it busy. That's how good this place is. read more

We take our laundry here for the wash dry fold service regularly. Li and Lisa are great; the laundry is always done well and on time. They help carry it to and from my car too when I have my baby with me and they have fragrance free detergent (All Free & Clear) if you ask for it. Parking for drop off and pick up is no problem because there is an official drop off zone right in front of the store. As for the dryers: I've been a customer here for a few years now and it's clear to me that this laundromat isn't a high-profit operation. That towel service people are complaining about is probably a big, reliable chunk of income for Lisa, and while prioritizing it is inconvenient to the occasional customer, I really can't blame her for it. A few dollars on one dryer for one customer just isn't worth jeopardizing that towel contract. read more

I've never seen any cool entertainment going on here in the two years I've been going like in some of the older pictures but this is the best self serve laundromat I've been to. They also wash and fold for you and I think they might do some other basic stuff but I've never used them for that. The place is pretty small, it's always clean, never too crowded, not too expensive, and all the machines (some are pretty old but they all work fine) are coin operated. The two women who work there are really nice. Most recently when I was in there folding one of them shared some chocolate with me which is a huge bonus. If I don't stay while my laundry is being done, or if I go next door to the cafe (also really good), I don't worry about my laundry being stolen which is another plus. read more

The owner of this laundromat goes out of his way to provide you with excellent customer service. He even gave me great advice for how to get stains out. When I dropped off my laundry for wash-and-fold, my clothes were ready on time and in excellent shape. His rates are wonderful. This place has made a complete 180 from where it was a few months ago! It's now clean, all the machines work, and the general air of sketchiness has gone. The new owner is a really nice guy, and makes sure your laundry experience is a pleasant and smooth one. Not to mention there is now FREE WIFI, magazines, and an etch-a-sketch. Apparently, this place got a total makeover and new owner not too long ago. I can't speak for its former condition, but I think the current version is great. It's clean and bright, and the owner is incredibly friendly. He's always there and always has a smile and a ready conversation. He's the kind of guy who makes you feel good to be supporting local businesses, even if the ancient washer/dryer in your building is cheaper. I've also done wash/fold/dry here. $1/lb can add up surprisingly quickly, but it is so nice to pick up a nicely folded bag of laundry at the end of the day. I dropped mine off some time before noon and was told it would be ready by four (the place was empty at the time, so I don't know if it's always that quick). Also, I asked the guy if it was weird to wash other people's underwear, and he said, "It's all just laundry to me!" So if you were wondering... I guess it's nothing to feel weird about. Also has the bonus of being located right next door to Cafe Rustica, so if you happen to be there before 4PM, you can have some nice coffee and sandwiches. read more

I've been very fortunate to have an in-house washer and dryer in my apartment, but getting the news that the washer is broken and will not be replaced til next week was almost earth shattering considering I was going out of town in 2 days, had 4 loads of laundry to do, and basically on my last pair of underwear (don't act like you've never been there before lol). Since I've never had to use a laundromat, heard horror stories and drive by some pretty gross laundromats everyday, I was not too excited about the experience I was about to have. I searched on yelp to see if I could find a decent place and as you can see by the ratings, this was first or second place for Somerville.... and for good reason. From the moment my boyfriend and I walked in, Dominic was very welcoming and helpful. The laundromat was clean with lots of machines (huge dryers!), excellent music that wasn't too loud and a great seating area where we could use our time wisely while waiting. The Wifi worked and the price was right for me. We were never rushed to leave and it was just an overall great atmosphere and experience. Even though I have laundry in house, I would absolutely go again to get several loads done in a little over an hour and would not hesitate refer others to go to BSL. (Actually, I told my roommates as soon as I got home.) Take it from a person that is pretty particular about her clothes and hates using public facilities, this is an awesome establishment with a great owner. read more

Not that Dominic needs any more praises but let me just say that he's spotted me quarters when I've run out, he gave me a tutorial on how to play angry birds and he has amazing taste in music. Definitely a nice place to hang out and he attracts the right crowd. read more

I used their wash and fold laundry service for the first time today and it was amazing. Its only $1.29 per pound and everything is folded meticulously. I brought in my laundry at 11:00am and it was ready before 4:00. This is where I bringing my laundry for now on!! read more

Under new management doesn't even begin to cover the changes that the new owner has brought to this place! The negative reviews from before were right on, but now the place is clean and bright, and the machines all work great. The new owner is friendly and helpful - even got me through a "laundry emergency" created by a very sick dog (i know, gross, don't ask) with house-guests about to arrive. The wash/dry/fold service is also great. I don't use it very much, as I'd rather just do my own stuff, but it's great when I'm pinched for time, and my stuff always comes back the next day clean, fresh and neatly folded. It's not that I mind doing laundry, but I HATE folding it. And of course I don't like rounding up quarters either. Beacon Street Laundromat relieves me of both nuisances. The owner is incredibly nice and chatty (in a good way). I like how he features art by different local artists. And if I didn't drop off my laundry (for an affordable $1 per lb) I'd totally get a lot of mileage out of the free wi-fi and ETCH-A-SKETCH. Also, if you drop off your laundry he'll send you home with the sturdiest, gigantic recyclable paper bag so your clothes stay nice and folded. I swear, you could carry babies in that thing (don't actually carry babies in the bag. i'm positive it would support the weight though). read more

Doing laundry is a pain, but coming here is quite enjoyable. Dominick (the owner) is a friendly guy who's happy to talk your ear off if you need something to entertain you while you wait for your wash to finish (should the large magazine collection not be your cup of tea). Also, there's free wi-fi, so waiting to do your laundry here is more enjoyable than going home and coming back sometimes. Add the fact that it's next door to Cafe Rustica, and you've got one of the best laundromats in the Porter Square area. read more

This place changed ownership not too long ago, so don't let the bad reviews fool you. The new owner is GREAT! He's given the place a complete facelift and updated many of the machines. They play all kinds of music, there's free WiFi, plus it's located right next to Cafe Rustica so you can have a sandwich or cup of coffee while you're waiting. The new owner is constantly cleaning the place so it's now become a laundromat where you don't cringe if you accidentally drop an article of clothing on the floor. read more

Save yourself some time and let them do your laundry! I have to pay $1.50 a load so it's totally worth it just pay them! They get your clothes done quickly and they always come back nicely folded. I have gone at least 10 times...it's worth the money and will save you tons of time! read more

I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out which laundromat in the Porter/Davis area is the best deal and Beacon Street is the easy winner. Not only is it the cheapest, but it's also the cleanest and most comfortable. Small wash is $3, medium is $4.50, large is $6, while dryers are 0.25 for 8 minutes. There are leather chairs, free wi-fi, tables for folding and doing work, and a cafe right next door. Also wash/dry/fold service for $1.25/lb. They get my thumbs up. read more

To echo a previous reviewer, this place has changed ownership in the past couple of years and it is amazing. Clean, organized, and well run, you might actually like doing your laundry and dropping off your dry cleaning. The prices are reasonable and the owner is professional and thoughtful. Like the previous reviewer, I am also surprised there are not more reviews of this place. It is a gem! Very friendly staff person. Out of towner here ... had to do my laundry somewhere. This is the only laundromat I found of any reasonable size with public parking in Cambridge. Machines are a tad older than I am used to in California but are extremely clean and well maintained. Doesn't sell laundry supplies but the staff member was even kind enough to offer to give me dryer sheets (I just did without this time). If you need to do laundry, this is definitely a good place... better than paying for it at the hotel. read more

Super friendly owner, and great service. I did the wash/fold thing: $12 for 12 lbs. and they did a much nicer job than I do when I do it myself. I almost feel guilty that I'm unlikely to have a need to return anytime soon. (My washing machine broke just as I returned home from travel with a bunch of dirty clothes.) I can't say enough good things about Beacon Street Laundromat! Proprieter Dominc is an extremely nice guy and also very good at his trade. I utilize the wash/dry/fold service, and my clothes always come back beautifully cleaned and perfectly folded. They are willing to accommodate special requests (e.g., less detergent, no dryer, etc.) A forgotten $10 bill in the pocket came back neatly clipped to the bag. I have also used the dry cleaning service and even had tailoring done. Their tailoring service re-lined one of my suits (a very challenging sewing job) for a very fair price. Dominic strives to create a warm and welcoming neighborhood space. Just last Thursday, he had "comedy night at the laundry" featuring a highly talented group of local comedians performing for free. It's a really comfortable place to do your laundry, with artwork by local artists adorning the walls, a nice cafe right next door and Dominic and his colleague always greeting you with a smile and pleasant conversation. High marks for the Beacon Street laundry! read more
