People on yelp rave about this place and I've tried to love it, but each time I go here I'm disappointed. They're coffe is just alright, I'd rather make my own coffee at home. Today was my first time eating here. I was in the mood for a salad and people rave about there salads. I ordered to go 2 greek salads. It was $21.50 for for salads that had no meat. When we got home to eat our salads it was mainly just a bunch of lettuce. I think I got 2 olives and a couple of tomatoes. Just disappointed. I would not go back for there coffee or salad. read more

I had my first...and Last visit there today. Absolutely thee worst customer service I have ever had..... Decided to give them a try on my way to work and left there extremely pissed off. No acknowledgement when I was standing at the counter. When they finally helped me the vibe I got was " here's your sandwich now get out". Adorable coffee shop. Being pregnant and having gestational diabetes the gal who helped me was SUPER nice and friendly. I asked what kind of sugar free options they have and she was so sweet to actually help me and give me different options on decaf sugar free beverages. She was so pleasant and made sure I liked it before I left. Will definitely be coming back! Love the atmosphere and they have a large variety of different food options. Best place for a good sandwich &/or salad - plus their customer service is impeccable

This place has the best bagel chips. I know it sounds weird to rave about these but they are so good. I tried to duplicate them at home and they were not the same. You use to be able to get the bagel chips as a side with a sandwich for an extra charge but the last couple of times that I tried they said they didn't do that any more. I really like their hummus plate and added bonus it comes with pita bread and bagel chips. The rest of the food is good too but a little pricey. Be prepared that it will take some time to get your food especially if they are super busy. I would go on a more regular basis if I could buy the bagel chips on their own. The employees are usually very friendly and it's a cute little coffee shop to have lunch or breakfast. Try the bagel chips if you can, you won't be sorry. read more

This is my favorite coffee spot. I have been visiting this place for years. Its a very friendly and fun atmosphere. They make delicious coffee and are very consistent. You can tell from the moment you walk in that they care about their business and they care about their customers. I've never walked into this place feeling like it was dirty or cluttered. I appreciate the decorations and the fact that they advertise local businesses, events, and artists. They have a whole wall dedicated to displaying and selling art from local artists which is freaking awesome. I unfortunately can't review their food as I personally have not ordered any, but I'll always see customers eating there and everyone who I've visited the shop with that has ordered food has said that it was delicious. If you're ever in town I strongly recommend a visit.. especially if you frequent chain coffee shops like Starbucks, you'll wish you discovered Bean & Leaf sooner. Update: I took a leap of faith and pestered them for ingredients to some of the items, which I don't like doing to people but... if they help me out it brings more business (I am very strict about some ingredients). Without hesitation, they gave me the ingredients to their hummus, spinach tortillas, Greek vinegarette, and chips! I was able to enjoy their veggie hummus wrap with a side of chips. I love to come here when I am visiting my family in the city of Manteca. This place is a real gem. I love the atmosphere and the drinks are absolutely amazing. I am not a coffee person at all and I usually refrain from any sugary drinks; however, when I am in town I always have to order the Zebra Iced Mocha. I love it and it really wakes me up. I would like others to know if you are ever hungry head on over to the B&L for one of Heathers fresh breakfast sandwiches on a bagel. My favorite is the ham and Swiss and egg on a bagel! Jessica and I stopped in Monteca on the way to Yosemite National Park. We had an amazing lunch at the Bean & Leaf cafe. It's the perfect pit stop if you're traveling through! Don't be fooled by the strip mall location: they have top notch Equator coffee and great food. Despite limited prep space they have very fresh ingredients. They have both healthy options (salads) and not so healthy options (four cheese grilled cheese). I had the Cobb salad. There can be a lot to screw up: chicken, avocado, tomatoes, bacon, blue cheese, and greens, but here everything was tasty. Particularly good chicken, which can be a trouble spot on salads at small places. Good salad dressings: my blue cheese dressing was thick but still creamy, and Jessica loved her balsamic vinaigrette, which had the perfect mix of the oil and balsamic (tangy and not too oily). We didn't use it, but they had free wifi. Very friendly staff. Only weird thing is that you have to walk through the kitchen to use the bathroom, but both the kitchen and the bathroom were clean and tidy. read more

I'd never fallen in love with hummus, the ones I've tried have always been....meh.... O..M..G...! This hummus plate changed my life. Really great sandwiches and fruit, granola and yogurt bowls and the raspberry lemonade is to die for! The chai tea is pretty great as well! They lost a star though due to it not being the cleanest when I came in. Food crumbs on almost every table and behind the counter there was food and wrappers on the floor. The bean and leaf café is my favorite spot for coffee and a must for a great lunch. The atmosphere cant be matched, from the amazing wall décor to the comfy cozy seating!!! My whole family has been frequenting this spot for many, many years. It was always a Fav with us and has become even more so when Heather took over owner ship! We've always had a great experience at this cafe. The food is good, coffee is decent, and the atmosphere is comfortable. The bagels always taste fresh and the pesto-sundried tomato cream cheese is my favorite. However, the service needs a little work. If the owner is here, everything is great. She's very friendly and accommodating--it's the reason why we come back. The other employees on the other hand will barely offer you a smile on a Saturday morning. I also believe the process to making their blended drinks should be revised. Unless the guy behind the counter was new or was clueless about how to make them, the way their "frappes" are made makes no sense. My husband requested a 16oz Zebra Mocha with an extra shot and with soy milk, as he is lactose intolerant. The boy behind the counter then informed us that they only make blended drinks with half and half...which really makes no sense, but okay. He then told my husband that we would have to add ice cream to the blended mocha because with the extra shot, it would come out watery. Again, this makes no sense. I'm not a coffee snob by any means, but as a former barista, I do know that when you add extra shots to a blended beverage, you just add less milk to make the consistency right. Also, when I was handed my iced latte there was espresso and milk leaking all over the sides of the plastic cup which is poor presentation. Overall this is a great location to relax and enjoy coffee with friends, and despite the issues with my husbands blended mocha, we will probably be back. read more

Finally found a great sandwich place. Am new to area and have tried a lot of places that have been recommended. I ordered the hot Turkey pesto with side order of salad. The sandwich was terrific and I loved the dressing that came with the salad. Restaurant is walk up but there are tables and chairs so you can eat there or takeout. I had a good time in the cafe though I'm pretty happy wherever I go most of the time so this is from an optimist's point of view. I very much like the hummus mix that I like it was very delicious. A healthy dose of that for vegans is the one dish I recommend there.
