We have been here several times and everything we have purchased has been great…read more I am a big fan of the small filled croissants and try to get a different flavor every time. This trip I got a blueberry, a creme cheese and a Boston cream one. My favorite was the Boston cream, my least favorite was the cream cheese. We also got a glazed donut and a twist, both of these for the first time. The donut was better than you can get at the famous places. The twist was a cross between a donut and a cinnamon roll. Very good. There was a line when we arrived but it moved fairly quickly. There was only one person at the register, he was filling orders, answering the phone and taking payments, so not real friendly, but not rude. I noticed while we were walking that they have a good selection of other dishes other than sweet stuff. Tempted to try something different next time. We sat in the adjoining seating area that is shared with a sandwich shop. The seating area was clean and huge. No trouble finding a seat here. I am sure we will continue to stop here on every trip.

Brown Dog Coffee Spot has been one of my absolute favorite spots for years, and there's a clear…read morereason they've become such a beloved staple in Burgaw. It's a fantastic woman-owned and operated business that genuinely loves its community, and that friendly, welcoming energy hits you the moment you walk through the door. I live in Leland and gladly drive 40 minutes each way just to get my usual coffee fix here. It is consistently some of the smoothest, best-tasting coffee you will ever have, and after countless visits, I have never had a single issue. On my latest trip, I spent some time relaxing outside in their awesome new shaded seating area, and when it got a bit too hot, I moved upstairs to their incredible event space to comfortably work from my laptop. While I was working, I noticed a bizarre, highly inconsistent negative review by a guy named Jason C. It felt so staged that I actually showed it to the staff and the owner (who happened to be there!) just to let them know I wanted to leave a thoroughly honest counter-review. Frankly, Jason's review makes zero sense. He claims he went to two competing coffee shops back-to-back, starting at Gilded Coffee Company, and claims Gilded's owner randomly recommended he try Brown Dog. Why would a direct competitor advertise for the shop down the street? It sounds completely fabricated. He then complained that his caramel macchiato tasted like "sugar water" and threw it away. I'm not sure he even knows what he ordered--a traditional macchiato is intentionally layered, meaning the flavors are separated by design. If you don't know how the drink works, don't blame the barista! To prove a point, I ordered that exact same drink today and surprise, surprise--it was absolutely flawless, perfectly crafted, and delicious. Don't listen to the weirdly staged negativity from the competition's fans. Between the unmatched vibes, excellent seating, and incredible coffee, Brown Dog is an absolute local treasure. It is worth every bit of the drive!

We said "no". After we finished there, we went over and tried Brown Dog. My wife had a caramel macchiato and I had an apple pie latte. We also got two sausage, egg and cheese croissants. Neither one of us could taste coffee in our drinks. They were too sweet. It was like drinking sugar water. Neither one of us finished our drinks and threw them away. The croissants were way too small. The only thing that this place had going for it was that it was on the main street and was bigger. It was freezing cold inside as well. I don't think we will be back.
