My charging system failed on my way home to Philadelphia from Columbus on NYE. Pulled over and starting calling auto shops near me and luckily found Glenn at Beanys. He said he had a mechanic who was just finishing a job and could look at my car. After explaining my dilemma (just starting an 8 hour drive home on NYE) and a thorough check by the mechanic, Glenn informed me that the AC compressor was the root cause, which caused the serpentine belt to slip. He provided a solution to get me back on the road quickly and at a minimal cost, and detailed findings that I could share with my mechanic back home. very bad experience beanies auto service center. I hate writing these but I think it's very informative for future customers. I've got my car serviced at beanie a few times. Last service in March I took my car in for a squealing belt. The service manager advised me that I had a leaking water pump. my water pump was leaking on the serpentine belt which was making the squealing noise. I paid about $1300 to replace the water pump which was previously replaced the year before. I got the car home and within a day or two it was back squealing. So I took the car back to the shop. I let them know that I think that the car is doing the same exact thing. It was doing that when I brought it in. They had my car for entire seven days. the service advisor did not communicate with me at all. Did not get permission to install. The part that was put on my vehicle did not explain why they were going to go ahead and replace a part without charge. So when I get to the shop to pick up my car today. They told me I had a balance, and when I inquired about the balance, the shop manager/Mechanic was very rude and nasty. On the paperwork they gave me they replaced an. So I didn't need a water pump at all and I was oil separator that was leaking in the back. So I didn't need I didn't need a water pump at all so I wasted $1300. I will never use this shop again. They're not knowledgeable about foreign cars at all. read more

I had gone to Beanys for over twenty years but recently they acted unprofessional and untrustworthy. A part went missing on my car after the last time I was there (about a month ago, and under the hood), so I asked the new manager Glenn about it. He proceeded to gaslight me and literally argued with me that it ever existed to begin with. I have driven the car for eight years, so I know it was there, I used it several time a year in fact. I do not believe he would have tried this crap with a man, nor would he call them "dear". When I emailed Kerri and mentioned the proof the part was still there, (the leftover rust spots where the part was), I discovered they sanded off the spots! (They were supposed to be checking for another issue the past few days and just felt like removing evidence I guess.) This was unauthorized of course which makes it illegal. (Luckily I took a picture before they did that.) Just cannot believe they would go to this much trouble for a twenty dollar part that I wasn't even asking them to replace. I mean, if you accidentally break something, just admit it was there and not gaslight me. They have lost me as a customer. Never had an issue with Joel or Steve so If you go to them, take pics of what you need them to work on, just in case. read more

I was looking to have a few things done (oil change,tire rotation..etc) and was tiered of corporate/ franchise ownership that only cared about the money and the in and out time, which normally took forever and with no people skills and a cookie cutter operation. I found Beany's on line and decided to give them a shot. By far the best decision I have made concerning my vehicle as the customer service was way over the top and exceeded my expectations. I was fortunate enough to meet the owner who made me feel as I was the most important person and she was very sincere and honest and she really did care for what was best for my vehicle. I was watching the staff work and they had smiles on there faces as if they were family and really enjoyed being there as I'm sure the cookies and homemade beef and noodles that Kerri the owner and worker bee would bring in for her staff helped the morale. The lobby looked better than most peoples living room the coffee was fresh and hot and bathrooms very clean. The price was great and I would give my first time experience 5 out of 5 stars and I am proud to now be a part of the Beany family and will recommend this location to everyone read more

Oh lord, our 2003 Thunderbird has been missing, not from our house, but when we take it out the engine is running rough. And it has been doing it for months. The car only has about 35000 miles on it because it likes to eat. Gas is expensive. I dont want to take it in. I want to try to fix it by giving it a better diet aka a better fuel grade. It gives the illusion of being better, sort of. But not really. But now the brakes seem mushy. I dont want to take the car out at all now so I agree with hubby that it must spend a few nights at Beany's waiting its turn. Well worth the wait for this honest and capable auto repair place. Something about part of a tube being pinched so the mixture was too lean. The brakes are good. And the bill, reasonable with a senior discount as well. They gave us a cute Beany key chain. I was terrified to bring this car in but these are honest people. Now because they are so good, you will have to wait your turn and be without your car for a few days. But I can deal with that when the car is fixed but not over fixed. Cars are complicated these days. You need a competent place for repairs. Beany's is it. Oh and there is a cute 57 Chevy on the lot. read more

These guys are honest, quick, informative. I bought a POS Honda from a "no credit check" place with a salvaged title and had so many problems with it. They were quick to open up a bay for my car to get checked out. Always getting a discount here and there. They mail out discounts often. I said screw it to my Honda and started looking for another car. I had them check out 2 cars which costs about $45 each but they did the second one for free. So, it seems that if you are a loyal customer, they will help you out with little freebies and discounts. Very nice ladies at the front desk and very nice mechanics. I typically do all of my own auto work, but decided to have the water pump replaced on my SUV, as it's common for the bolts to break on my particular motor. I don't have a ton of free time, and didn't want to spend my entire weekend cursing over broken fasteners. Scheduling the repair was easy, and it was clear talking to the service manager that he was knowledgeable of my particular motor and it's specific issues. Was given a quote, and a range it could cost depending on what they found. The job was done in a single day, and was done with decent branded parts. Price came out on the lower end of the estimate. They called with an estimate within about 4 hours of my dropping off at noon (& apologized for it taking awhile, lol!) and had my car ready before close that day! They tracked down and repaired an exhust leak coming into my car that eluded another shop, as well as an oil change, replacing several lights & a headlight and spotting several issues that need attention in the future. My previous experience with Beany's was good. This last one has me ready to go to court due to their incompetence and neglect. I wanted Beany's to check my vehicle for a small exhaust, oil, and water leak. The exhaust leak was a no brainer to find. I was told the oil leak was from a valve cover. They couldn't find a water leak. My cost for new exhaust and valve cover gaskets is $1,814.00 thanks to a military discount they honored. Seven business days passed from when I dropped the vehicle off to when I got the estimate. Then another four business days to complete the work. I wasn't happy with the time frame, however, I was willing to accept it. After I paid $1,814.00, I was on I-270 headed home. At this point, I drove about 4 miles. Suddenly the vehicle lost power, then surged forward, then repeated the cycle 4 or 5 times. I thought my transmission was acting up. I made it home and noticed the engine running rough. That was on a Friday. The vehicle sat over the weekend undisturbed. I drove it Monday and noticed the same problem. When I was able to examine the vehicle we noticed engine running rough and the smell of oil. I went back to Beany's to explain my experience. Someone (name withheld) and I rode around the block. We noticed the problem. He connected an electronic reader to a connector under the dashboard, then told me the code. That information meant nothing to me. He told me if the problem continues to bring the vehicle back. I didn't drive the vehicle until 3 days later. I could barely reach 50 mph on the freeway. By the time I got to Brice Rd. black smoke was bellowing from the exhaust and I was pressed to get to 25 mph. I dropped the vehicle off at Beany's and was told they'd check it out. 5 days later I got a call and was told I needed another ECM/PCM. Estimate given was $1,000. I asked how did I now need a part that worked fine before. I received no response. I asked how could we reduce my cost for this issue. The only recourse I had was to provide the ECM/PCM myself. And I did so. At this point Beany's is charging me $150 for labor and $250 for programming the ECM/PCM. Beany's needed to schedule a third party for the programming. 6 days passed, then I decided to take my vehicle to the dealer to install and program for $189. I paid Beany's $104 to release my vehicle. As I'm writing this review, 3 months has elapsed since I took my vehicle to Beany's and it's still in the shop. The dealer discovered the O2 sensors that are supposed to be installed near the catalytic converter weren't. The sensors are required to send info to the PCM/ECM. So, due to their incompetence and neglect, Beany's had me buy a $400 part that wasn't needed and cost me many hours of time. Also, I was told the oil leak is from the oil pan. I have yet to have another conversation with Beany's about a form of compensation. read more

I recently went to Beany's for routine maintainence (tire rotation, oil change). I also asked the lady at the desk to have the mechanics check my tires for leaks because my low tire pressure light was on. I drove the car home, and I had a flat tire the next evening, even after not driving it all day. I tried to change the tire, but the manufacturer-provided wrench did not fit the bolts on my wheels. I called Beany's and explained the situation. They sent a mechanic to my apartment with a tire iron to help me change the tire. Beany's does not work with tires; however, they did check my tires for punctures. The leak was in the valve, which they would not have checked for anyway. An unusual review. Very much worth reading. While inspecting my Grand Daughter's car before she was to leave for college, I noticed an issue with the rear brakes and rotors on her 2012 VW Passat. After seeing that Beany's was very busy, and with just one day to work with, I chose to take her car to a Mr. Tire service on E. Main Street in Reynoldsburg. Nice folks at Mr. Tire, and very much willing to work on her vehicle. The issue was: This shop did not have the right tools to complete the needed work. Desperate, out of time, and after searching at Lowes, Home Depot, and several auto shops in the area for a 12 point, 14 m torx bit needed to remove the real calipers from the rotors, I decided to stop at Beany's and ask if they had the required tool to loan to me. I felt that this was a long shot.....but at 5:30 PM...and the shop closing at 6:00 PM....and my Grand Daughter's move in day at the dorms at Bowling Green State University about to be ruined..... again.... I was desperate. I spoke with Joel, the manager at Beany's and fully explained my plight. He was completely understanding of my situation, but explained that the tools used by their shop were owned by the auto techs and it would have to be the call of the one tech left on duty. Joel paged a tech named Coy to the office. he explained to Coy in brief what I was up against. I offered to pay to rent the bit and further explained what I was facing. Coy thought for a moment, and then loaned me his set of torx bits needed to complete to job. I believe that for anyone to completely understand and grasp how generous this gesture was....one would have to be a mechanic, someone who uses tools for a living, or someone who owns and understands the value of this equipment. Joel explained again that Beanie's was about to close and that if the job at Mr. Tire was not completed in time, I could return the tools in the morning. I was overwhelmed by their generosity, left my Ohio Drivers lic. just for good faith and raced back to Mr. Tire with the bits. Credit to Mr. Tire....who were scheduled to close at 6:00 PM....but stayed until almost 8:30 PM to finish the job. This morning, when Beany's opened, I returned the tools to the shop. and then we followed her in her fully packed car to BGSU. To see the excitement on her face was priceless. We will never forget the unbelievable saving gesture made by Coy and Joel. read more

I took the car in for routine maintenance - spark plugs, fan belts, etc. - and $1200 later (most of it legitimately warranted, no problem) they were handing me an estimate for an additional "problem" to the tune of another $1200. I shopped said "problem" around and three different mechanics could not find the issue. One of them called my original mechanic at Beany's and he said he'd never said that was an issue implying I was making it up. One, that's insulting; Two, the issue was something of which I'd never heard; and Three, I HAD IT IN WRITING. The reason I did not move my review all the way down to one star is the lady who runs the front gave me really solid advice I used to purchase my next car and their newsletter always has a really good coupon. Been going to Beany's for four years. Much of that was with two ancient cars that were just falling to pieces, where you really need to talk about the cost/benefit of any repair you're looking at. I always get great advice, great service, and a fair price. Due to those cars sometimes breaking down in inconvenient places, my wife and I have sometimes had to use other mechanics. Getting back to Beany's was always a relief, because no one else measured up. And in particular, Beany's never tries to charge my wife the "woman tax" -- you know, where you break out an extra-heavy dose of shop jargon to intimidate the customer into buying extra stuff -- which most shops do. read more

This was my first visit to Beany's. Trying a new auto mechanic is never a fun task for me, but this wasn't bad. I arranged for an appt for a brake job/rotor replacement a day in advance. There was no waiting when I arrived at the scheduled time...nice. The manager (?) showed me the old rotor and explained the problem areas. The mechanic drove the car before and after repair -- a very comprehensive approach. The cost was exactly as quoted and was reasonable. Staff members were very friendly and helpful. I'm not sure how it could have been better. I'll definitely try them again. read more
