I had been waiting about year to visit Bear Creek Distillery. Last October, when gatherings were a thing, I was able to sample a few of their liquors at a chili cook off. Their flavors were incredible. I don't really drink rum, but their spiced rum is incredible! I bought a bottle earlier this year, and it is fantastic on its own (which I wouldn't normally do), or mixed into a cocktail. When I finally went to their actually distillery the other day, the staff was super nice. Their onsite menu has some of the best cocktails in town, and very on season. Reservations were needed as there is only limited outdoor seating at this time, but they were very accomodating in letting us grab a drink at table before the next reservation showed up. My friend and I got a drink at the distillery, and one each to go. I'm really in love with this brand, from their packaging, to their onsite staff and current COVID-19 setup. read more

After trying out Laws Distillery we drove 2 minutes down the street to another local distillery - Bear Creek. The second you walk in you are in awe by the gorgeous bar and the copper machinery in the back. They offer tours as well which looked pretty neat! They have tons of hand crafted cocktails to chose from all with homemade spirits. We tried the Strawberry Mashup and a white whiskey drink. They were both very good! Very fresh and refreshing on a hot summer day. We also got to taste the bloody mary mix - oh man on a Sunday morning that would hit the spot! They also had a lot of really cool merchandise and other items for purchase. This is a great little local spot especially for those who live in the area, if you weren't looking for it you probably wouldn't notice this hidden gem! read more

Cannot recommend this place enough! Came here for the first time for a group event where they had reserved the back room. The drinks are incredible and the the place isn't super big so it was a nice intimate, laid back setting, with a little patio as well as the two main rooms. I hosted my bf surprise 30th birthday there, also reserving the back room they offer. Everything went soooo smooth, Megan (manager) and staff were super helpful in making sure I had what I needed and coordinated so that things were easy. She even let me come a bit early to set up and made sure the whole staff was in on the surprise aspect! And update...owner just threatened my friend over this review in the middle of the street. He yelled to my friend, "Tell your boy to take down that review" You really want to threaten me now? How about treat your honest customers with respect? I live in Union Station so I go out of my way to go here. I've been numerous times. So for this to happen is beyond me. Visiting local distilleries is definitely a past time for me. While the equipment and processes are mostly the same, the ingredients, the philosophies, and the people are what really make these experiences and final products so unique. Like so many other urban distilleries, Bear Creek is located in an industrial sector of the city, in a warehouse with quite a bit of fit and finish. They've done a great job of making it into a great place to hang out adding in a nice cocktail bar and lounge with large windows looking in on the distilling equipment, as well as a retail room with merchandise and long picnic tables for larger groups. The cocktail bar has a menu that features all of their spirits, and the staff is super cool and willing to allow you to taste them too. They make a vodka and a wheat whiskey that were pretty fun! Overall though, I wished there was more of a story and a passion shared with us during our visit. I didn't really get the background on the distillery or the people behind it, or the philosophy behind the products they make. There aren't really tours here either, and overall, I was really left wanting a bit more. Over time I hope they'll improve that process and really align the experience with the effort and passion that goes into the products they create. In the meantime I'll be on the lookout for their products as they make their way west! read more

This was such a pleasant surprise! We looked for a distillery near the skate park we brought our son to. The two versions of the old fashion were both fantastic. I had the bold and my husband had the cherry. I also recommend the big easy. The servers were especially hospitable and kept our water full the entire time. The music was fantastic which completely contributed to the mood. We bought a large to go cocktail of the cherry bounce for our next vacation. I have the Denver Passport (2 for 1 drinks) and Bear Creek Distillery was in the book. We had read great Yelp reviews for it and decided to try it out. It was definitely a destination- out of the way in an industrial area, and not by all the other bars and restaurants in the area. But inside it has really cool looking modern decor, with wood walls and we had a great experience there. The server explained all the drinks to us (there were a lot, and they make all of their own alcohol). It was hard to choose, but I selected a blueberry rum drink and my husband went for the rum punch specialty drink they were featuring that night. They make the drinks from fresh muddled fruit and herbs (my drink featured basil in it). Both drinks were delicious and strong. Great place and I will be back soon. read more

Our friends brought us here when we were visiting. It's a cool little place off the beaten path. There's the front room with the bar and some high tops then in the back there is more seating. Hey have board games you can play. They also have popcorn to snack on. The drinks were all really good but it can get pricey. Drinks range in price from $9-$12. Staff is friendly and helpful and will recommend drinks if you want. They have a pretty extensive menu with whiskey, vodka and rum options. read more

Came here with some friends for weekend drinks. The interior is cute and a bit small, but with lots of mirrors to make it feel big! There is actually a larger area/room off the bar area, but it was closed for a private party while we were there. When it's open, there's got to be at least 3-4 times as much seating! Our friend M got a sampler of a few of their spirits, so I tried a little of the straight bourbon, wheated bourbon, rye whiskey, and cask strength rum. The wheated bourbon was definitely my favorite as a stand-alone liquor. The straight bourbon and rye had a lot of bite, and the cask-strength rum was ridiculously boozy! I ordered a bourbon punch to start of with, which had the straight bourbon, cream, and nutmeg. It was served chilled, and was good on a hot day, despite being flavored a lot like something I'd drink around Christmas! However, I really enjoyed my second drink, which was almost like a whiskey marg. It had jalapeno and lime and utilized their "white" whiskey (moonshine). This drink was on special for the day and only $5, which made it all the better ;) Overall, E and I really liked this place and will definitely come back. Drinks are a little pricey (most in the $10-$12 range) but sometimes they run specials, like I mentioned above. The atmosphere is cute and the people are friendly. So this place is awesome. All the cocktails you could ask for from a swanky Lodo bar along with the regular classic handmades like old fashioneds and sours. The yummiest was a strawberry smash,- a striking resemblance to my favorite, favorite cocktail I love. This distillery is a block from our house tucked away in the side streets off broadway. There are a few other places around here that make it a great bar hop declaration to start and overland to finish. They have pretty great drinks, I've had some drinks that were made sickly sweet. But the old fashioned is on point differently one of the better ones and I have had many! They have a cool ambience with a back room you can chill and play board games. What's lame the bar closes at 10 pm. This was also my curfew at 16. Sorry but that sucks!!! I can not tell you how many times I hear it's awesome but they close at 10. At least stay open till 11 fri-sat you'd have the business. So we usually stay for one drink and head over to the overland where we can eat drink hang out with friends for a few hours. read more

I have a feeling they're going to need to extend their hours, because when 10pm came people weren't wanting to leave! Schedule a tour if you have time. The space is cozy, with just two fairly small rooms.  What really stands out, though, is the bar.  The bar is awesome. BCD's cocktail menu is extensive, creative, and highlights their liquor well.  We started with their Old Fashioned, with Straight Bourbon, bitters, raw sugar cube, and an orange slice.  As we were finishing our drinks, we joined the tour. BCD's operation is still pretty small, but they did a really nice job on the tour.  They gave substantial detail on their operations and spent a lot of time answering questions.  We especially enjoyed learning how a new distillery gets started, including how long it takes from making the first batch to actually being able to bottle and serve.  The answer was, it takes awhile, at least a couple of years. After the tour, we got to taste the product. And they have a lot of product.  In addition to the Silver Rum, Spiced Rum, Cask Strength Rum, Rye Vodka, and Wheat Vodka pictured below, they also offer Rye Whiskey, Wheat Whiskey, White Whiskey, Straight Bourbon, and Wheated Bourbon.  The Bourbons just recently got released.  Andrew really liked the Wheated Bourbon and the Spiced Rum.  But Em is the real judge, and she thought the Rye Vodka stood out.  They described it as a whiskey drinker's vodka, which Em thinks is accurate. After the tasting, we were making friends, so we decided that one more cocktail was in order.  Em ordered a Stumbling Tumbleweed, pictured below, which was the best cocktail of the night.  It had Wheated Bourbon, cran-apple sage syrup, fresh lemon juice, and cranberry bitters. Ultimately we did not go home with any bottles, but we'll be back to pick one up--probably the Rye Vodka, if we had to guess. read more

This place is awesome. Stopped in after meeting one of the distillers around town and was pleasantly surprised by the offerings. The cocktail list is inventive and impressive-- the Red Panda (rye vodka with bell pepper juice) changed my life, it was that good. And don't even think about leaving without trying the spiced rum. This is no Captain Morgan, so get that out of your head right now. This is like sipping on a delicious glass of pumpkin pie, if only that thanksgiving treat also got you buzzed. This distillery is FANTASTIC. The people who work here are not bartenders, they are mixology genius's! My husband and I stumbled across this place on Yelp and we are so glad we did. We've been coming here for about a year now, usually 2-3 times a month. I typically opt for a whiskey or rum drink and haven't had one that I didn't like. I love their flavor combos. We have tried other distillery's and bars around town, but nothing beats Bear Creek. (Beets, bears, Battlestar Galactica.) The Mango Overboard and Strawberry Smash cocktails are delicious. Some nights of the month there is live music. Tons of board game options. The decor is really warm and trendy. Other bars we've been to have felt gross inside with fluorescent lights and a sterile "warehouse" feel. Bear Creek has cool wood paneling on the walls and creative bulbs for lighting. read more

The bartenders really know their stuff and will let you sample the different vodkas, rums and whiskeys. We tried about 10 different cocktails and they were all amazing. I can't pick a favorite. The decor in this space is beautiful too. They used reclaimed wood from unique sources. Everything flows really well together.
