Bob had the Garden Bloody Mary, and Jeremiah went with a custom hot coffee cocktail crafted with help from our fantastic server, Megan. For brunch, the Cowboy Quiche had an incredibly flaky crust with potatoes and green chile (I added beef birria -- worth it). The chorizo breakfast tacos were also a hit. Very cute exterior and interior tucked away right off Broadway! Parking was easy enough as they have spots in front of the restaurant (a plus on Broadway) or 2 hour free street parking. Despite its location however, the noise from the street is completely cancelled once inside (however, I'm not sure about the patio area. We went here on a very cold winter day so the patio, of course, wasn't open. When it's a lot warmer, I'd love to sit outside and experience the outdoor environment in there. It might as relaxing as the inside.) This experience of mine was about a month or so ago (so much belated.) I had a wonderful red wine (Sangiovese or something like that) along with a pork and potato appetizer dish. That app truly complemented the wine (or the wine complemented the dish; either way, it sure was a great pairing.) There is a little DJ room where they were playing the kind if music that resonates with the whole experience and atmosphere. The lady who assisted us was very welcoming and friendly. The service was top notch. If you are looking for a quiet lounge to enjoy a good appetizer dish with a drink then this place will be your best bet (especially if you want to avoid a huge place where there are other people.) This chic bar opened in the Platt Park area earlier in 2024 to offer a nightclub option in the area. It is also open for brunch on the weekends. Named after the owner's spirit animal, a painting of a bright yellow goldfinch holding a turquoise jeweled dream catcher atop a disco ball greets you as you walk in the door. There are hints of other southwestern decor in the many Zia symbols sprinkled throughout the open yet intimate space. There are many options for seating, and we were lucky to have the table with the plush lime green swivel chairs. A perfect spot for drinks and a conversation. We arrived for happy hour. This included Happy Wells for $7, Happy Cans for $5, Happy Wines for $8, and Special Spritzes that were off the menu. Most customers were ordering the spritzes so I went for that. Plus, our server, who was also a bartender, sold me on one he had created with falernum syrup that wasn't too sweet and went down a little too easy. First of all this place is nothing like I imagined when I said lets go grab a cheap drink at the closest bar after leaving the Brutal Poodle one day, BUT this place definitely surprised me in a good way. My friend and I came here for brunch last week. We came right when it opened and had no trouble getting seated. I'm glad more places are starting to offer brunch because I really hate waiting. The ambience is definitely that of a cocktail lounge, but very comfortable. We started with bloody marys and asked for spicy. They didn't come out spicy (granted, we really like spice) but the mix is all very thin. I prefer a thicker bloody, so I wouldn't order this again. We opted for a bottle of bubbly rose next and that was delightful. For our entrees, I had the Shakshuka and my friend had the Breakfast Skillet. I loved how saucy mine was and the flavor was great- but it came out luke warm, so I would have preferred hotter. My friend said the Breakfast Skillet was very good. I really wish I could have tried the cocktails and the food. This review is strictly about service. We were told "sit anywhere you like" and so we did. No one came for 10 minutes so as a gentle nudge, I went to the bar and asked, "Hey, can we get a couple of menus to make some decisions while we wait for the server?" I was informed that the menu is on a QR code UNDER the electric tealight. How is anyone supposed to know that?? But that's not the issue. A skinny server helping out other folks in a red tube top and black gloves made eye contact with me not once but TWICE and still ignored us. Now, my cynical companion was of the opinion that because we were in our "about to head to the airport in 5 hours" clothes, we didn't get served because we didn't look fancy enough. I, a hospitality professional, have a different take. More than half the tables were empty and everyone on the floor and behind the bar was running around like a chicken with their heads cut off. This is a result of only one thing: poor management. And as a bartender, I told the bartender there, "Hey man, you definitely did nothing wrong but bartender to bartender, we're walking out with nothing and that's money out of your wallet." He started to apologize and I was like, "dude, this isn't on you, you did nothing wrong! But if I were you, I'd be pissed because this is probably happening to other potential guests. That's money outta your wallet!" I'll try again, but probably not for a while. It sucks when you leave a place in the business of *hospitality* feeling shitty and not even getting to try the food and beverage. read more

Loved my visit to the Goldfinch a couple of weeks ago. First, the vibes are just immaculate. Its all leather, gold, velvet and class. The entryway is also super cute with a little wooden door.
