Wow! What an absolute find! We waited about 15 mins for a seat because it was so busy. That means it's good! And it was! Greeted as we walked in and we were apologized to for the wait being so long mid wait. It was no problem. Service was fast and friendly. Food was hot and fresh. Cooked to perfection! Manager even stopped by our table and we had a chat about the delicious biscuits!! There's a secret to them but I'm not saying what it is!! Menu is amazing, so many options. Got the peanut butter waffle with bananas and whipped cream with peanut butter syrup. Syrup was so good I took some home with me. We came here while on a hiking trip, visiting Zion. While our breakfast choices were a bit hefty pre-hiking, this place was a good choice for a causal breakfast, no frills. Spread is pretty standard; good food, large portions. Staff is friendly. We just missed the rush so the wait was less than 5 minutes, but people started piling in after us so it can be a wait closer to lunch time. Other reviewers highlighted the French Toast with Vanilla Creme Brûlée Custard so we tried it. Unless you're wild for french toast I'd skip it. read more

I love this place. It's the perfect quintessential breakfast/diner place. Think super homey, huge portions, right in the historic downtown St. George area. I've eaten here every time I've visited St. George and will never stop. Their menu is HUGE. Their coffee menu alone almost takes up one page. You of course, need to get their coffee. And of course, even the coffee portions are huge. No matter if you're a sweet or savory person, you have to get a short stack of pancakes or a waffle and get a fun flavor. I always get the peanut butter pancakes because their peanut butter syrup is like liquid pleasure. Their bacon and home fries are cooked to perfection, as breakfast diners should be. I would love to try something else like the quiches but I always go for the pancake combos or their omelettes, which are fantastic. Especially the Denver omelette. Price-wise, it's so cheap and they have combo specials where you can get an insane amount of food for ~$12. Beware of long wait times! We always hit this place up on the weekdays only. If you have a wait, take a walk around to the old square or some of the awesome old thrift shops within a 2-block radius. read more

I am completely disappointed in Bear paw. They used to be amazing. And now? I got an omelette that had zero cheese and I got mushy hashbrowns that were supposed to be extra crispy. Their staff, when I asked what was in the omelette, didn't even know what kind of cheese it was. At first I was told is mozzarella and then told maybe not, I finally had to ask what color the cheese was... She told me orange.Not one person on the staff knew what I was ordering and seriously there is no cheese at all on the omelette. What a shitty experience. I used to really love this place. I've been in St. George for 17 years. It's really unfortunate when you watch a restaurant like this go down. read more

If your looking for poor service this is the place. I recently went there with my boyfriend and we checked in with the host and got seated pretty fast which was super nice. The real trouble happened once we got seated. When we were seated we ordered with our waitress, Brenna as soon as she came to introduce herself. But then waited for about 50 mins before realizing that everyone around us and that came in after us and got seated had already had their food. It was then that my boyfriend greeted the stand and asked them how long the wait would be and when we could expect our food. The other host at the stand that we spoke to stated that he would "go check on it" and proceed to stand there for the next 20 mins. After that our actual waitress came over to tell us "your food will be out shortly." Then we proceed to wait for another 15 mins before I went to the host standing asking to speak to the manager. After about 5 mins our same waitress came up to our table and stated that she was the waitress manager and she would talk to us. Then I kindly asked to speak to someone else or a different manager. I was then told by our waitress, "oh our other manager doesn't come out and talk to customers. She does paperwork in the back." Which then I responded and said "okay well can I have the owners number." And she then gave me his number and told me his name and her name. After that we finally received our food after about 2 hours of waiting and being sat. I kindly asked for some boxes for our food once we received it so we could leave. The waitress stated "okay that's fine." And came back and threw the two boxes on our table and while walking away stated "here are your boxes and the food is on the house, bye." While we waited for our food we never once made a scene or did anything out of character once we brought up the issue. The entire time my boyfriend had his water empty and never once had been asked if we wanted a refill or about our food. As I left I tried to call the manager and left him a text message requesting to speak to him regarding the visit I received so hopefully we can talk to someone so that this is ensured not to happen to anyone else. The lack of help and consideration you get from this place is very deserving of a one star review. If you are thinking about going I would 10/10 not recommend getting Brenna as your server. read more

I chose to go out and not partake in the hotel's free breakfast this morning and I came here to the Bear Paw for breakfast. Smart move. I was there 15 minutes after they were opened and I had the place to myself--a small table with a view across the street at one of St. George's historic buildings. I ordered the apple, oatmeal, and pecan pancakes. Here's the description from their menu: Granny smith apples sliced thin and covered with brown sugar, cinnamon and caramel sauce. Then baked and added to a batter of oatmeal, cream, cranberries and chopped pecans. Grilled and served sprinkled with powdered sugar and warm maple syrup. I ordered a short stack which was 1 pancake. That's more than enough because it covers the whole plate. It's served with butter and maple syrup. Including coffee, breakfast was less than $7. A great value. In addition, the ladies had a free cup of coffee to go when I paid my bill. It was their way of giving me a drink for the drive back to Las Vegas. That rates a 5th star any day in my book. Terrible service, mediocre food, serving fake maple syrups as real maple syrup.... I asked the waitress 3 separate times if they serve real maple syrup. I was assured all three times. I ordered pancakes. They asked me if I can have different pancakes since they were out of the flavor I ordered. This was when they brought out my guest's plate. So, I got my dish 6 min later than my guest's. When I finally got my pancakes and poured the syrup, the syrup clearly wasn't real. It was corn syrup-based flavored syrup. I would never order pancakes if they told me that they do not have real maple syrup. The waitress insisted that she was told the syrup is real. I asked to see the packaging. the management refused. They later admitted that it was Maple-flavored syrup. However, after they ruined my meal, they refused to change my dish for something else or refund me. The head waitress came out and said that she will charge for the pancake I didn't even touch. I was also told that coffee was individually dripped as they offered different roasted coffees like French roast and medium roast. It was regular drip coffee, served lukewarm and horribly brewed. Truly a dining gem in St George. Probably explains why they're so busy all the time. They list more ways of cooking eggs than I have seen anywhere else, and they're all perfectly cooked. You can tell they cater to the local taste where the sweet stuff is really on the sweet side. The stuffed french toast was deliciously soft like a french toast should be. Bacon was cooked as I ordered. The staff is friendly when you can get them. What's not to like? If I could leave a zero star, I would. We moved to town a few months ago and this local spot was featured on one of the news stories. The food looked amazing, so we decided to give it a try. They weren't too busy and we were seated immediately. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my daughter ordered a breakfast with blueberry pancakes. I didn't know people could screw up pancakes so terribly, but somehow they managed. My huevos rancheros were just average. Well... that was about the only good we can say. Our server never once returned to fill our drinks or ask us if we needed anything. We sat there for almost 20 minutes watching all four server girls sit at the bar talking and laughing. We even watched this little boy from another table take his glass up to the bar and ask for more water. When I saw that, I had enough. I walked up and asked for my bill, paid, and left. I have never walked out of a restaurant and not left some sort of tip before, but I did this time. As we've been trying to figure out which local restaurants we will frequent, this one has definitely been removed from our list. read more

The home fries with ranch are delicious. The service here is the worst service I've ever experienced and it has consistently been terrible since I started coming here ten years ago. I have never seen a more confused collective of servers in my life. The service is slow. The waiters don't know what they're doing. It's legitimately been really really bad service for ten years. When headed beyond the Zion Curtain, I usually like to eat breakfast in St. George. Now that Vegas has a Cracker Barrel, I pretty much cross that off. I like mom and pop places, unless it is a chain that I do not have access to at home. I have been coming to this place for years. I am not sure how I found it, but I am betting it was through Yelp! Today, I ordered a ham and cheese omelette with home style potatoes with a side of salsa. OMG! How big was this omelette. I could swear that a quarter of the swine was diced up into this omelette. It was so over flowing, with ham, it was almost annoying. I cut the omelette and I would get the egg and cheddar, but the ham would fall out. I kinda like eating the ham, egg, cheese and salsa altogether. The fruit cup was overflowing with fresh cut fresh fruits and the orange juice was sweet and incredible, as usual. read more

Coming here is a must when we come to St. George. The food is always great, and the service rarely disappoints. The only problem we ever face is just trying to stay ahead of the crowds. We tried to come one morning, and they were closed due to a power problem, but we were able to return a couple of days later. Bear Paw is definitely worth the visit if you're in town! read more

A solid go-to joint in St. George if you are looking for home style comfort food. Nothing fancy here, just good eats. On this trip I enjoyed a Denver Omelette served with home fries and a dense, yummy biscuit. The omelette was PACKED with onions, peppers and ham--extremely generous portions. Ate there twice on recent trip. Food and service were fine. Second meal, I used the men's room just as I was leaving. Staring at a huge poster of an airplane with the headline 'Dago Red'. Completely inappropriate. This is the 'N' word for Italian Americans. I politely explained this to the manager and have attempted to contact them through non-public forums without respolution. I get that this is not the most culturally evolved part of the country, but this (especially the lack of response to polite inquiry; they can certainly Google the word if they are not familiar) is not acceptable. We had the Bear Paw French Toast and it was tremendous! 1 1/2" thick stuffed with cooked apples. It was perfection. The banana pancakes rate very tasty and rich with banana flavor from fresh banana incorporated in to the pancake. Julian was a top notch waiter. I'm giving 2 stars because the server was nice. That's about it. I get the mask mandate has been removed, but I've yet to go to a restaurant where the employees are not wearing masks. No one here wears masks. The food took a long time and of course, the most important part is the food was not good. I get this is not the culinary hot spot of the US, but I don't understand how so many people find this food even remotely good. My burrito had some skinny, dry and green scrambled eggs, the hash browns were not only tasteless, but not cooked all the way. Other people in our party had waffles and pancakes and we all thought they had no flavor. No one ate them. The waffles were soggy and not crispy and again, no flavor.
