We went for breakfast this morning! We have gone there several times and have loved it! There is a wait and usually a long line. Today was rainy so we only waited about 20 mins. I ordered the Bear Paw Eggs Benedict with the home fries, which was yummy! I love the home fries and the seasoning they use. My husband ordered the Huevos Rancheros and he really liked the green chili meat sauce. He didn't like the sausage patty on top of them. He didn't feel they went with the meal. I also ordered the Bear Paw Hot Vanilla, it was delicious!!! We got my daughter the Short Stack Bear Paw Pancakes (banana) to go. They were really good as well, I had a bite, and she loved them. We were expecting long line at noon on a Friday but we're pleasantly surprised when we just walked in and were seated at once. We ordered the french toast which was very good. I had the short stack and it came with three eggs that were cooked just right, very tasty sausage patties and hash browns. Seldom is the time I can't eat it all but I couldn't finish the pancakes. They were good, sweet and to perfection. The only negative was the place is very loud. Some sound deadening on the walls and ceiling would help. But despite the noise it was a good experience, we will return since we are locals. It was our first time here. St George isn't a food paradise but the Bear Paw is a gem. read more

This little cafe along the main strip is a hidden gem in St. George. The outside has a rustic old world look, and the place was crowded when we walked in. However we were seated relatively quickly and the service was excellent. The staff was friendly and the waitress was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food... my wife and I ordered the number 8 breakfast (without the meat) and upgraded the French toast to the "bear paw stuffed" French toast with vanilla cream, and the Judd's Avocado Sandwich with a side salad. The eggs in the breakfast order were prepared exactly as I asked for them. The home fries looked like ridge cut potato chips, but were nice and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside, and perfectly seasoned. The French toast was decent. The vanilla cream was slightly curdled but had an excellent flavor, not overpoweringly sweet. The Avocado sandwich was delicious, hands down. We got the #8 that includes stuffed french toast, eggs, bacon and a side. We paid to have it split as it was a lot of food. Eggs over medium were okay. Bacon was undercooked and when they tried to crisp it up in came back oily like they threw it in a fryer. So pass on bacon. The tomato slices were mealy like they had been sliced, frozen and thawed - ugh. The highlight of the meal was the French toast. People will like that. The rest was a fail. They serve Coke products which is good. They were having problems with their antiquated point of sale computers, they really need to get a modern cloud based solution in this day and age. Stopped in on a Sunday morning and it was a 40 minute wait for 2. Once we were seated it was another 30-45 minute wait for the food. I know it was busy, but that is a looooong time to wait. I had the salmon eggs Benedict. It was cold by the time I got it, and the English muffin was so mushy from sitting in the sauce for obviously a long time. Cold hash browns. Coffee tasted like a generic grocery store brew. I was starving so I ate my meal. I wasn't about to ask for anything else as the waitress never came by to fill our water. This was my second time dining here, and I don't think I'll eat here again. My first visit was a few years ago, and I really enjoyed my meal back then. Something has changed since then. It's busy since there are not a lot of Sunday brunch options, and will stay in business because of this, but they need to get their meal timing under control. read more

Stopped here on our way to Zion and ate a late breakfast. The restaurant is cute and the staff were friendly. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it came with a hard center which is not the way they should be cooked but I was too hungry to complain. The sauce was not your usual hollandaise but it was really good! We also ordered one of the stuffed French toasts. It was good. Nothing out of this world but enjoyable. After reading the reviews on yelp and seeing the pictures, I have been wanting to try Bear Paw Cafe for a while now. I tried a couple other times, but the wait was over an hour and with the line outside and nowhere to sit, I figured I would just try again another time. Today there was no wait! We were seated right away and given menus. They have a nice selection of coffees and smoothies. I just wanted to try a regular cup of coffee. Strange thing about the coffee is it wasn't very hot. Really it was barely warm. Refills are free, but getting one is a hassle and they don't fill your cup all the way. I had to get up twice to ask for more coffee since our waitress ignored us other than taking our order and bringing us the bill. Someone else brought our food to the table and it was the wrong order at first. All 3 cups of coffee I had were barely warm. I ordered the "Bear Paw French Toast" (half order) priced $5.95 and didn't leave hungry! The french toast here is thick! They have a few choices for fillings and I chose vanilla brulee cream. I loved the french toast, but not the filling. According to the menu the french toast is dipped in a batter of fresh ranch eggs, thick cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and brown sugar. I'm glad I got the half order instead of the full because the half was filling enough! I also ordered a side of bacon at the cost of $2.50 that was thick and had a good flavor, but fatty at times. I like that the side of bacon came with 3 slices instead of the usual 2. The food was decent, but the service and coffee need work and leave me with mixed feelings about ever returning. I'm a fan. If I lived in St. George I'm pretty sure that this is where I would eat every Saturday. Cute location right in the heart of the old historical district of downtown St. George. We were staying in St. George on our way to and back from Vegas, and loved our first experience so much that we ate breakfast there twice in row (a very uncommon occurrence for us). First off, the coffee gets The Blue Stamp of Approval. Blue is renown for his coffee snobbery, and he couldn't stop raving about it. Secondly, the menu is broad and broken down into easy to read pages. Our first trip we opted for the peanut butter pancakes and vanilla creme stuffed French toast, both of which came with eggs and meat and potatoes for less than $11...Pretty good deal. We loved everything, but particularly the BACON! No matter what else you get, include bacon in it. The second trip Blue stuck with the French toast and I ventured towards the meat lovers Omelette . True to its name, this giant was less of an omelette and more like an enormous meat pile covered in an egg blanket. For a true carnivore like myself, the sight of it almost brought a tear to my eye. Finally, I have to give a special acknowledgment to the kitchen staff. For years I have struggled with the angst of lack crispy hashbrowns. It doesn't matter how much I emphasize my desire for crispy crunchy browns, I usually end up disappointed. But not here! I asked for crispy and they delivered the crispiest hashbrowns ever! I have heard so many great things about this little cafe and that it definitely was a spot to hit for a visitor. Yet, I had such a bad experience and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Yes, the cafe atmosphere is exciting and busy but our service and food was not. For starters our server was in a grumpy mood and was not on top of it. Right away when we ordered one of the menu items it said, that you can get toast as a side. She attempted to argue that you can't order toast and that the menu was wrong. After we just took her side she didn't even offer if we would like to pay for a side of toast. Once finished with our meal, She saw that we were ready, with payment and still took 15 min to even come over to see if we were done and to ask if we wanted a check. Our food was not pleasant either, I ordered a #7 which includes: pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. The pancakes were extremely dry and with almost a gritty taste and had a bad after flavor. My hash browns were yucky and didn't even seem cooked. My husband joining me ordered a #3 which was a croissant sandwich, eggs,bacon, and cheddar cheese to top it off. He also ordered a side of hash browns. He complained that the sandwich was dry, he had to use ketchup to make it not be so dry, I mean who does that on a croissant, haha! His hash browns were so so, a little crispers than mine. Both of our eggs were horrible. They tasted like they had been siting in a heated pot for a good hour. Brunch in St. George and you get one answer - Bear Paw. Easily found on Main Street across from the Zions Bank, everyone knows about this local favorite and for good reason. They serve up breakfast from 7 am to 3 pm, 365 days a year. And if it's not breakfast items like Belgian waffles, French Toasts, Pancakes, Crepes, Quiches, and Omelets you're in the mood for, they also serve up Panini Sandwiches, Baked Potatoes, Burgers, Salads, and Desserts. We were warned that on weekends, we better get there early or after 11 am because it would be a long wait. We took this advice and arrived around 12:30 pm. There were a few tables available, so we were seated pretty promptly. Now take your time with the menu because it's a long one. We really couldn't decide what to order and asked what their most popular dishes were. The waitress immediately said any of the "Breakfast by Numbers," which meant 10 choices of breakfast meals that included eggs, sausage or bacon, ham steak, etc. The BF went for #5 "Country fried steak, country gravy and three ranch eggs your way." For $8.95, it also includes home fries or hash browns, and a buttermilk biscuit or toast. The steak was pretty tasty, along with its gravy. I wish they gave more gravy, which I probably could have asked for. However, the BF wasn't too impressed with the homemade biscuit. I prefer waffles over pancakes and I don't usually order French toast, but we figure we had to order at least one of the three. With the waitress's suggestion, we got the half order of Bear Paw French Toast for $5.95. "Fresh egg bread sliced 1 " thick, we cut a pocket in each slice and fill it with you choice of our home made spiced apples, vanilla brule cream or chocolate brule cream. The egg bread is then dipped in our batter of fresh ranch eggs, thick cream, seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and brown sugar. Served sprinkled with powder sugar." She said the bread is homemade and recommended the apples or vanilla. Cutting into this chunky French toast, you immediately see the apples inside. After spreading the butter and pouring the syrup, I took a bite and what a nice surprise! What a treat! So full of flavor and it had me looking at French toast again! This is definitely something you can enjoy for dessert anytime! Their panini sandwiches distracted me away from the breakfast menu, and I got an "artichoke hearts and sun-dried tomatoes" sandwich for $7.95. You also get a house salad, melon slices, French fries, or potato salad. It's definitely a generous order which can be easily shared. (They charge $2 for split plates.) It's made on Focaccia bread and spread with homemade pesto, fresh veggies, and placed in a grill. It's then topped off with their "special aged house oil of extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, cracked black pepper, red pepper flakes, red and green bell pepper, sweet onions, mushrooms, dried tomatoes, black olives, minced garlic, and feta cheese." I'm glad I chose the potato salad because it's homemade and made with red potatoes. It was actually very refreshing and didn't have that overly mayonnaise taste that some potato salads can be like. However, I'm not sure if my panini sandwich actually made it to the grill. It lacked the crispiness that the grill would usually give or maybe the oil blend softened up the bread. Nonetheless, there still was a lot of stuff going on in this sandwich. They have an extensive beverage menu that includes espresso drinks, Italian sodas, smoothies, teas, and morning specialty drinks like a Bishops Mary or a Pina Colada Cooler. The BF had a Double Macchiato-Latte ($3) that he found to be quite strong. There are a lot of families here dining, so it can get busy. Service is standard and the waitresses are pleasant. OMG!! Could it be that after 3 attempts to try this place we actually conquered Bear Paw?? Yes, it took a lazy Tuesday afternoon to get in even though we still had a 20min. wait. I was surprised at how it looked inside - looked real run down. It was decorated real tacky and felt so stuffy. All the tables had mismatched chairs - they included chairs that belonged to the table as well as regular fold up plastic chairs that you would buy at Walmart and take to a parade. Right in front of the run down bathroom the linen closet was open and it was flithy- full of rust and old dust. I decided to keep this from the people at my table and give the food that everyone waits days for a try before I make an actual decision about this place. The menus were yucky to touch- full of dried food on it-the pages felt gross. I ordered the Veggie Quiche that came with home potaoes. The Veggie Quiche lacked flavor and I had to keep dipping it in ketchup. The home potatoes were yummy...The potatoes were sliced in circles,fried and seasoned- these potatoes were a hit with our table. Other dishes eaten at our table- Bacon Quiche (no taste and where the heck was the bacon?),Cheeseburger (the hamburger patty was good- it was seasoned in soy sauce),Ham Club Sandwich (they forgot to put the bacon but even with that the sandwich was enjoyed and it was a large amount), and the 2 kids chicken strips meal in which neither child had any complaints . While waiting for our food I noticed the waiter bringing another table the Focaccia Sandwich - now that looked yummy- I'm getting that dish next time (if there is a next time).... My food was OK but thats it OK- I don't care for the decor at all - I really don't know if I will be returning to Bear Paw...I don't think the hour to 2 hr wait is worth it though...... read more

Talk about an awesome spot in St George! This place has such a cool vibe and our waitress Amy was great! Super busy but well worth it! When we arrived it was slammed but the wait was really short. People were eating and leaving so tables were being cleaned every few mins. So as busy as it was the wait was quick. I am so glad we waited because the food was amazing! They have a great variety and even had my wife favorite crepes! I went for a steak which came out perfect to order with some yummy country potatoes! Also get the county potatoes over the hash browns. Our waitress Amy was working like crazy. Even though she slammed she took great care of us and always made sure our drinks were full! Great job Amy! Will be back soon! The atmosphere of this place is just as fun as the food. A huge menu that will not disappoint the service is fantastic even though they're slammed. Which they are every time I've been there. This isn't fast food, and rightly so. Don't expect to get in and out quick, enjoy the whole experience. Customer Service was terrible. I ordered pecan waffles and they forgot most of the toppings! I told them that they forgot the toppings and they're response was " i don't know". I told them to check the menu and then brought me the remainder toppings but they took a long time and my waffles got soggy. It was really annoying to have to walk them through that process to get my order correct and the food was no longer enjoyable. From out of town, researched good places to eat for breakfast. When we tried to check in was told there was a 15 minute wait after 45 minutes asked why other groups were going before us, young man replied there was only one group ahead of us, I said nothing gave him the benefit of the doubt, but immediately after two groups were called that showed up after us. I decided to go back in, this time the young lady in front was completely rude and with and attitude, using her hands and putting her face almost right up to mine, can't you see all the groups are bigger than yours, it's so much easier to fit them, guess I would of fallen for the excuse but too many parties ahead of us smaller, same size and bigger went ahead of us. Greasy spoon breakfast-lunch type diner. Nothing impressive or worth noting except you wait a long time to be seated, and the waiter probably will forget to put in your order. Otherwise nothing special, ok so they mix peanutbutter with syrup to make this lumpy sauce for the pancakes. They call them peanutbutter Pancakes, how inovative, but not really. They dress up the waffles and crepes in tons of whip cream from a can and powdered sugar. There's nothing Belgian nor French about either dish. The day I went in for breakfast I sat at the counter, the waiter took my order and also the order of another couple but forgot to put it in. Everyone sitting around got their food but us, the manager noticed and got on him about it, it was fun to watch, quiet entertaining. But all in all I lost an hour for less than mediocre food. I asked about gluten free options and there are none. Zero. So poached eggs with salsa, avocado, and an orange juice. The salsa was tomato sauce, the poached egg was too runny, basically clear not white on the inside, and the avocado came separately mixed with romaine lettuce. So sad.
