Met a buddy here for lunch on Saturday afternoon. We brought our pups (as always). We sat out on the patio which is dog friendly. The day was super hot but the patio is in the shade and it was super comfortable with a breeze. Service was excellent. They brought water for the dogs right away. I ordered the fish sandwich and my friend had the Chicken BLT. Food was great. They have a nice selection of beers. The menu has a lot of options. Also ordered some burgers for the dogs (patties with no salt). If you haven't tried this spot yet...you should. Great spot in Escondido.

My husband and I were searching for a decent dinner deal in the Escondido area and found this little gem. It was a Tuesday so we both had the $9 burger special. I got mushroom Swiss and he got something with Bbq sauce and bacon on lettuce wrap. We sat at the bar where the bartender checked on us often - she really did provide service with a smile. She even helped us with some tasters of beer before we ultimately decided on our pints. The place is clean and inviting though sadly there were only like 2 other tables when we were there (could have been due to it being past 9pm on a weekday however). Great deals and great service- we will be back

Disappointing nachos with a side of cold mozzarella cheese?

We ordered drinks, nachos, pizza, and several orders of wings. The nachos were particularly disappointing. The menu specifically describes them as being made with shredded cheddar cheese, but what arrived appeared to be a melted liquid cheese that did not resemble shredded cheese at all. We also ordered brisket on the nachos, and the meat was not appetizing. I asked our server whether the cheese was correct, and after confirming that it was, I asked if it was supposed to be shredded cheese. He then said he would see if he could "find some". He returned with a bowl of cold shredded mozzarella. At that point, there really wasn't a way to enjoy the nachos as intended, and the entire situation was frustrating and disappointing. The pizza was also a letdown. It was noticeably burnt, and the crust was extremely hard. The wings themselves were delicious, which was one of the few positives of the meal. However, we were disappointed to find that the flavors had changed from the sweet chili flavor we remembered to an Asian zing flavor. While we understand that menus and recipes change, it was noticeably different from what we had previously enjoyed. Unfortunately, the service added to the overall disappointment. Our server did not seem to recognize that there were issues with the food or that our experience was anything less than satisfactory. Throughout the meal, our group also felt rushed, despite arriving several hours before closing. That made the experience feel even less welcoming. I emailed the manager to let them know about this experience and never heard back so that only added to the disappointing experience. Im hoping management looks into the quality of the food, the accuracy of the menu descriptions, and the service experience. Definitely wont be returning and I advise anyone looking for a nice beer tavern to look elsewhere.

Service was prompt and friendly. This is a local joint that has a nice modern interior and tavern vibe exterior. It was a little bit cold and our waitress offered to close the garage doors. Dogs are welcome in the patio. We all ordered burgers, kids burgers are plain, patties, pickles, and cheese. They forgot our cheese and we had to ask for the slices. The adults ordered a Cali burger and bear classic burger, the brioche buns toasted are very tasty, and the fries are cooked well and salted. The patties were bland and could use seasonings. Otherwise it's a nice local joint, we didn't try out the beers on tap but lots of other guests did.

It's my first time here and so far I've been super super impressed. The staff was super sweet and super accommodating. I honestly just wanted Frys and brisket and they gave it to me. On top of that it was super yummy! I also had some yummy kombucha and the vibe was really nice. Will food sure be back to try more.

On the way back from a recent road trip I stopped by Bear Roots Tavern in northern Escondido! This restaurant & craft beer tasting room on El Norte Parkway is impressive, both inside and out! It has that nice open-air vibe that is common to many Grand Avenue establishments. The service I experienced was welcoming and friendly. The place seems popular with salt-of-the-earth Esco locals. My first priority was to digest their fantastic selection of beers on tap. For my first I chose what's called "Deep Rooted", a Double IPA coming in at 8.9% ABV. It was outstanding; however, I was served a short pour. Not sure why but the presentation suffered for it. Looked like someone took a drink out of it. My second beer was called "Lecker", a German Pilsner coming in at 5.6% ABV. This one was excellent! Light bodied and crisp with a delightful floral note. The food menu looked great. A nice selection of pub grub style dishes. I was most interested in their selection of hot dogs, made with a Nathan's 6" frank. I ordered the "Tijuana Dog" and it was very tasty, artfully constructed and nicely presented. It's a bacon wrapped dog, topped with grilled onions & bell peppers, jalapeno and a cilantro aioli drizz. The dog was plump, juicy and hot but the jalapeno wasn't really present. I would have appreciated a little more of a kick. I have eaten these things back in the day on the streets of TJ and this wasn't really the same. I do appreciate their version which chefs up an otherwise pedestrian handheld treat. I observed several other dishes come out to other patrons and they all looked very good. I look forward to visiting again soon.

Great beer, GREAT PRICES!!! Shayla is a wonderful bartender. Different specials for different days. $5 pints on Sunday all day

It was a very basic spot. The restaurant had a good amount of foot traffic and we were allowed to seat ourselves anywhere we would like. The food was basic and alittle slow on coming out. The server was good and very attentive.

We stopped here on our way back from pumpkin picking at Bates Nut Farm. This bar/ restaurant was clean and nice! I loved our waitress! They are family and dog friendly. Food was delicious! They have a kids menu. We had the burger, nachos, onion rings and kid Mac and cheese. They have plenty of TVs, nice seating, great bar. They have items for purchase sure as T-shirts. Definitely try them out!

This place is super cute, with comfy modern decor. The booth even had outlets so you could charge your electronic devices. TVs were playing the Padres game so we could really enjoy some sports viewing while drinking our beers. We loved that you could try what was on tap and then you could order a variety of sizes when you decided on your favorite. The service was quick, super friendly and the prices were affordable. The food was also tasty. We got a kids burger, a chicken pesto sandwich and an adult burger. Please note that the fries are extra, but the prices were great, so a few extra bucks for fries or a salad is no big deal. Try it!!!

Dog friendly so plus for us. We didn't have our pooch with us this time so sat inside. Nice & clean. Server wasn't very friendly but good. Good choice of beers and beers were good. Little high pricing for food. My wife got their nachos and it's has a really good different tasting liquid cheese on it. I got the chili dog and it was ok. It was a hot dog with ok chili. She got their cake dessert that was high priced and not that big, but she really liked it.

Went to Bear Roots because I saw great reviews and watch the sunset with a beer and appetizers. The Fried appetizer was pretty good but the marinara sauce for the cheese was overloaded with oregano. Fried pickles were great. We then opted for the brisket nachos with jalapenos. Brisket was tasteless and jalapenos were a bust. Not very flavorful. At least the chips were good. When you got to add hot sauce you know something's off. Service was mixed. First contact was great but everything else was pretty slow. Tables around us complained too. Beer was a high point. Lecker and Birra Felicia were good. View sunset and ambiance was a plus.

    Bad tv service

Where do I start. The girl server was sweet but it didn't make up for the experience. Soccer team came during a game break . It wasn't busy at all when we arrived. Yet it took two hours to get our food. 40mins to get my water! Possible short staff as it was only her and one guy doing everything. The tv for the soccer World Cup came was bad reception-pic to follow. Two tables next to us havnt been cleaned off in over 2 hours. After I expressed the issues, manager said sorry no compensation until I said unacceptable. He then said 1/2 off a salad only. I had to fight for a reasonable compensate for this experience. Def not coming back.

Today, we ordered the classic lunch combo burger with fries-delicious and does not taste like freezer burn!!! There is a choice of not just beef, but also impossible, gluten free, and grass fed meats. All burgers are cooked to medium unless you specify otherwise. Easy to order-just go to the counter and order, pick a seat and wait for your meal. The interior dining area has plenty of seating and restrooms in the back. The outdoor patio looks nice enough for when it's a nice cool night, it is covered as well. Anyway, we'll be back since the menu looks super inviting because there are other choices besides burgers and the best thing is that they use a lot of local, fresh ingredients! They have a good selection of beer, milkshakes, and drinks. You order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. It's hard to find a burger place with all my favorites: an egg, bacon, and avocado. The bacon was crispy, the egg was medium and wasn't too runny, and the brioche bread was a little sweet and fluffy. They use angus beef for their patties. You can also split your fries which I love! I got to try the onion rings and sweet potato fries. I wish the sweet potato fries were crispy. They were more on the soggy side. The onion rings batter was a lil thicker than I like. The batter overpowered the onion. We also got the Cajun wings to try which was nice and crispy! They give you a few sauces on the side so you can dip it. I got the ranch which was so good with the wings, fries and burger. The milkshakes are pretty delicious! We got the classic vanilla one. It was a pretty thick shake so you know they use legit ice cream! I also liked the peach lemonade. I would check this place out if you're in the area!

This place is just gorgeous, when you walk in, the main room just opens up into this beautiful spacious BIG room with so much natural light that it floors you on just how beautiful this place is! There is also an outdoor area and oh my! It was like a botanical garden here and they also have a fountain where they have fish swimming in it. A worker here was about to feed the fish when we showed up and asked some kids dining outside with their parents if they wanted to help feed the fish. How awesome! We were a party of 10 and got sat at an outside table. It was just a lovely afternoon to experience this venue. I ordered a habanero margarita and asked that the tequila be substituted with mezcal and that was doable. This drink was OK and next time, I might just get a beer. Everything else I've tried here has been A+ 10/10. Wonderful seafood spot. Highly recommend. The only bummer is that if you sit on the patio you have to listen to the annoying music that the Walgreens across the street blasts 24/7. We had eaten here once before, but didn't really get to sit back and fully enjoy the experience--so we brought the family along to give it a proper run. Safe to say, we are so glad we came back. We came with an appetite and tried a little bit of everything across the menu: Garlic Shrimp Tacos (2) & Grilled Fish Tacos (2): Generous portion size with a fantastic meat-to-veggie ratio. Balanced, fresh, and super satisfying. Chips & Salsa: Crunchy chips paired with a flavorful salsa. I personally loved the kick of spice, though more than half our table found it a bit too hot for their palate! Red Snapper: Ordered deep-fried with garlic butter sauce on the side. The fish was cooked to absolute crisp deliciousness. My aunt loved it so much she practically ate the entire head and left nothing behind. Surf & Turf Burrito: Hearty, packed with flavor, and hit every single mark. Deep-Fried Ice Cream: The perfect sweet ending to complete the meal. The atmosphere is warm, vibrant, and incredibly inviting. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating provides a live band and it added such a fun, lively local backdrop for a dinner out with family. Tips: Spice Gauge: If you or your kids are sensitive to heat, ask about the spice level on the salsa beforehand or request a milder option for the table. Seating Choice: Grab a table in the outdoor patio area if live music is playing--it creates a great local Escondido dining experience! Complimentary Soup Check: On our first visit, we were treated to a small complimentary soup tasting sample. They didn't bring it out this time around (which made us a little sad because it was so good!), so if you're hoping to try it, it doesn't hurt to kindly ask your server if sample tastings are available that day.
