On 4/25, we came in at 10:13 and were handed the check by 10:47 with a heads up by the bartender he'd be closing soon unless it got busy. That's fine, but the interaction felt rushed and unwelcoming from the start. He mentioned not feeling well, but overall came across cold, disengaged, and like he didn't want to be there. On a separate visit, we were told we couldn't play music because he was already listening to something. Small moment, but it reflects the same issue. At this point, it's noticeable enough that we actively consider going elsewhere when he's working. It's hard to understand how someone who seems to dislike working with people is consistently front-facing. He brings the overall vibe down. We'll still come back, but the experience is noticeably better when he's not there. read more

Brought the wife to see one of the latest Bar Rescue make overs. She had the kiss the fish craft cocktail. Served in the fish glass but the drink didn't hit with us. I tried to order a 394 lager but they were out. So settled for a Miller lite. For food she had Ahi poke. And I ordered the "beer" cheese nachos and Buffalo wings. The nachos wh were not beer cheese. But simply shredded cheese melted on chips with jalapeno and pickled onion. Really lacked taste. The wings were good. The bar was busy but only 1 person for the bar and front of the house. They are in a corner of a small shopping centre. There are parking lots right in front of the restaurant There was only one young lady waiting and bartending today. She was quite efficient with her service, but the food took quite long to come out. Ambiance was a regulars bar type of place. And there was like a reunion party today. The poor lady tending to us looked very busy and overwhelmed. I ordered a kiss the fish and my hubby ordered a Miller lite. The original beer he wanted was out. My drink looked better on pictures and on TV. There was supposed to be garnishes but none in mine. Also nutmeg was way stronger than described in the menu. We ordered wings, beer cheese nachos and an ahi poki for me. Hubby had buffalo wings and nachos And I had the ahi poki. Buffalo wings were good. And the nachos lacked a little oomph. I was expecting beer cheese with a lot more flavour. It felt more like regular cheese tossed on the macho chps. But the chips were definitely fresh. The ahi poke was pretty good. It had avocado, marinated ahi, grilled pineapple, spring onions and a ramen egg. The ramen egg egg was a little overseasoned. I'm expecting ramen egg to be a little less cooked in the middle. This ramen egg was also over salty- probably marinated and kept in the fridge for long. It tasted strongly of Just soy. Overall, we had a good time. read more

As a San Marcos local for almost 20 years I'm very upset I haven't gone over here sooner. This place had been in my radar for many years, but it wasn't until I saw this bar on Bar Rescue that I decided to go. The menu was fantastic cocktails were strong and prices weren't even that bad. $13 for a strong Aviation!!!!! Sign me up. Service was fast and server was super personable. Inland Tavern is in Vista, but it's worth the drive! We sat outside, but because of the warm weather, there were some mosquitos swarming in towards the end of the night. My friend tried a can of beer from Heady Topper and I opted for a mocktail. Her drink was pretty good, but mine was okay. We started with some wings- I chose the dry chili lime rub and she chose the ginger terriyaki, which was wet. We both liked the chili lime ones more! We also got the Caesar salad and added chicken and it was really light and delicious. For our entrees, we shared the Seaside "Cardiff crack: tri-tip dip and the hot fried chicken sandwich. Both sandwiches were huge, flavorful, and came with thick cut fries. We didn't realize how big the portions were going to be. Before we left, we also ate the golden cream cheese stuffed garlic bread. The milk bun was so soft and fluffy! This was such a great appetizer! I'm so glad I gave Inland Tavern a try because the food is so good! Wow! Decided to try this place on Easter Sunday with my daughter and we had a great experience. The food was fantastic, we shared the Cardiff Crack dip, fries and a salad. All were awesome. We tried the cocktail menus Bloody Mary with green chili vodka and it was delicious. It came with a side car of miller high life, back n wrapped chicken wing with a slice of cheese, olives and lime. So good. The service was excellent and it was raining outside and they had a fire place and sports going on the many TV's. Great place to come hang out. read more

Inland tavern has a down to earth, beach-y type laid back vibe...Its so laid back, I was expecting to see Sammy Hagar sitting in the corner sipping on some Cabo Waco, or maybe the ghost of Bob Marley chillin' by the bar...you get the point mon... Yeah it has cool vibes, Yeah it's extremely clean (inside and out) but I'm here for the beer, the grub...what about that you say... Walking in we were immediately greeted by the owner Pete. Wow, an owner actually actively engaged with his establishment, now that's a real good sign this is gonna be a great place... No need for menus Pete (as I had carefully studied the food pics on "Yelp" before getting there) we went for the Cardiff Crack Steak Frites and the the Nashville Chicken sammie.....of course a Guinness (on tap) and a Coors Light are added to complete the order... Disclaimer, I'm a bit of a Guinness snob, as I visited Ireland four times in a two year period searching out the perfect pour...After drinking at the birthplace of Guinness, any other pint seems a tad inferior.... Well, I was pleasantly surprised as Inland Tavern's Guinness was an excellent pour, especially for being in the States, and served at the perfect temperature...Pete informed me it was the first pint outta a new keg...Well done Pete, Well done....After gulping the Guinness (catch-y, I think I'll trademark that phrase ;) my attention turned to the Coors Light...it's just Coors Light you may say, but places can still f up it up, and they do often....This Coors Light was icy...and tasty, like nectar from the Rockies if you will....One of many I ordered here... Our grub had arrived at the table... The Cardiff Crack Steak Frites (featuring the legendary Cardiff Seaside Market's Burgundy Peppered Tri-Tip) had a lot to live up to, and did not disappoint...tri-tip over parmesan garlic thick rustic frites (that's fancy talk for French fries for Le' knuckleheads like me) w/whipped herb butter and chimichurri...Unbelievably tasty, nicely paired with icy beer...does it get any better...really...does it..c'mon does it...ok, too much..but it was delicious.... The Nashville Fried Chicken sammie (my term, not theirs) was as equally delicious, the slaw and dry rub are a perfect match to the fried chicken...again, washed down with an icy brewskie.... I like this little spot for some serious football watching, good craft beers, delicious food, and a nice patio to watch the games on. Decided to give this place a chance. Will say that the dirty fries with beef, egg, chiles was good but ... Who would ever send out a steak that looks like that. I ordered it medium rare. I don't even know what temp it is because it's gray/purple. No way this is Cardiff crack steak. If it is, they should know this is how you're serving their product. Neither my wife or I even took 1 bite. Couldn't risk getting sick or gaining some kind of mutant abilities. Source better product and fire whichever cook sent out food looking like that. read more

I have never left a review anywhere but my experience here alone left me feeling that it is necessary. My boyfriend and I went into this bar to order a drink. The bartender was very rude and insisted on us leaving a tip when our tab was still open. We were both going to tip at the end of the night so this comment caught us very off guard. The food here is insanely good. The chicken sandwich alone is worth coming for. You can get it normal or hot but I went with hot. The bun was super soft, chicken was crispy and juicy with a good kick to it. Not to mention the slaw in the sandwich had a nice bit of sweetness to compliment the chicken. I would go so far as to say it's one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. I also had the poke bowl which was also really delicious. Everything was very fresh from the tuna to the pineapple. I was so sad when I saw that it was going to rain on my birthday and could not find a place to host my bday brunch that did not require high deposits/minimums for the venue or strict time limits for my party. That is until I found Shores! Pete was so helpful and made the entire brunch party booking process easy and stress free. I was able to visit prior and they had the perfect set up for my party of 20. On the day of, Elise and Paul were so welcoming and I was even able to add some of my own decorations. All of my guests enjoyed themselves and the food was amazing! Bottomless mimosas were definitely a hit and I couldn't have had a better birthday experience!!! Really wanted to like this place as it's local, has great beer and great tequila. Sadly, we had grumpy bartender. Ordered a cocktail off of the menu which stated a specific brand, he used the well (we were sitting at the bar). When we asked him about it, he said they don't make it that way anymore even though I pointed out the brand on their shelf that was referenced on the menu. He remade it but wasn't happy. I saw the new branding as "The Shores" and wanted to give it a shot. The wife and I had visited Inland Tavern a couple times and a couple other visits to whatever it was before that. The bar, table and lights had been upgraded and the interior was welcoming and comfortable. Our server Sara was friendly, attentive and efficient. We ordered wings, poke and the cheesesteak dip sandwich. Wings were meaty, hot and flavorful; poke serving was large and fresh ; cheesesteak was good but not as flavorful as I had hoped. I still ate it it of course. Bottom line: We will definitely return for the comfortable atmosphere and friendly service. There are also several other menu items I want to try.
