This was a sweet treat after ramen. When you walk in they have alot of fresh cream puffs. You pick your shell and flavor which is your basic vanilla, chocolate and a new flavor on the day. They walk you through the steps when ordering. Unfortunately I ate these when I got home so the creams consistency was more liquid. The shell was still soft. Located in madang courtyard, beard papa serves excellent sweets with great service. The (presumably) owner was friendly and gave good recommendations. Appreciated the warm and welcoming service! Got an original cream puff with flavor of the month filling (horchata for Aug) and a honey butter cream puff with vanilla filling. Both were flaky and delicious, and I loved the horchata filling! Didn't ask but I'm sure they provide validation for the mall parking lot. The location has a few tables but it's mostly a take out type of place. The mixed pack was limited since we placed our order in the evening. So we got green tea, chocolate, orea cookies and cream, strawberry, and 2 honey butter. They were all nicely packaged when delivered. The eclairs are limited in the type of filling: vanilla, green tea, and chocolate. Overall these puffs are okay. They're light and not too sweet which is good. But sadly they aren't very fresh as there is a ton of cream puffs that sit out and just wait to be ordered without any telling of how long. I also wish they had more filling flavors, they only had two - chocolate and vanilla - which can get repetitive. I ordered the churro and dark chocolate options. Beard Papa has some solid cream puffs! The filling isn't too liquid and is creamy enough where it reminds you of soft serve. It is in the heart of Ktown so it is hard to find street parking but you can park underground at the Hmart and should be fine! The service was great and the staff were very friendly. This Beard Papa is tucked a little bit behind the street entrance so make sure to keep your eyes peeled when walking by. My favorite part about his explanation was how he thoroughly went over the fact that certain filling flavors do not go with certain cream puffs. Okay, so I heard about Beard Papa's , but I have never tried this pastry shop. So, I embarked on a journey to Koreatown to try the much talked about eclairs and mini pastries. Upon entering, I was greeted hello from a very nice gentleman who walked me through the different choices and combinations of eclairs. I chose the standard eclair with matcha filling and the green tea eclair with green tea filling. Both had just enough flaky outside in the texture of the eclair while giving an almost ice cream like texture inside with the filling. Such a refreshing contrast when taking a bite!!!! The store was very clean when entering and was a nice temperature as well!!! There really wasn't inside sitting, as I take it that this place is an "order and go" type situation. As for location it can be tricky to find. When coming to Koreatown to Beard Papa, make sure you park in the parking lot garage because IT'S FREE!!! When going to the garage enter in on the Manhattan Place side not Western!!! They will validate with purchase. The store is located two doors down from Paris Baguette and in between Cosmetic World and a boba store! You can also park at the metered parking lot on Western and walk up the ramp and it will be on your left next to a Boba place. Overall, Beard Papa is a pleasant surprise! My only recommendation is that hopefully one day they will have a gluten free option. When visiting, I personally recommend the ube, green tea, or regular eclair with matcha filling, but honestly you can't go wrong with any of the flavors!!!!!! read more

My favorite item is the classic vanilla cream puff. The mini versions are amazing since they're the perfect bite size. Not too sweet. I bought a dozen cream puffs and the total was about $50 which I found to be pretty steep. Definitely was a heavy box and took us a few days to polish off. So unless you have 6+ people to help you eat 1-2 cream puffs each, I wouldn't suggest ordering so many. Parking: the plaza closes their parking at a certain time --9:30ish What I appreciated about this location was the employee. We went in 7 minutes before closing (they close at 10pm). And she still serviced us. The chairs were up and everything was clean, but still sold us the cream puffs. As everyone knows, those after dinner sweet cravings hit you hard. First off, it's in a somewhat hard to find section of the Koreatown mall, and the employee was so helpful that he came out of the store to bring us into the shop. the shop was incredibly clean and filled with many varieties of cream puff. I ordered a vanilla churro cream puff and everything was very fresh all the way until close- we arrived at 8:56 pm. when I returned home, I was disheartened to discover that my cream puff had been filled with chocolate, to which I have a small allergic reaction. I gave it to my friend, and he said it was the most delicious dessert he had ever consumed in that part of Los Angeles. So we decided to go back and try our luck to get a proper order. when we arrived the following week, we referenced the issue and spoke with the manager, Steve, as well as maria, who were both very communicative and helpful and friendly. Maria even went as far to change her gloves to protect me from ipossible reaction. Was delicious and we ate the entire vanilla cream puff right on the spot. My personal favorites are the last two, creme brûlée and the donut eclair one. I have slept on Beard Papa's. I'll be honest about that. We had locations back in Chicago and for some reason, it didn't excite me. I don't know what in the heck I was thinking because these little cream puffs are soooooooooooooooooooooo delish. The chain started in Japan and now they are everywhere! I finally made my way to the KTown location and got some of the goods. I was able to try the Honey Butter, Chocolate Eclair (minis!), the Oreo Crumble Puff and Chocolate Fondant. All were good but I definitely liked the Chocolate best. Honey Butter was uneventful for me, but the Mini Puffs were perfection! They were such a good size and 6 came in the order for $8. The other full size puffs ranged from $3.50-$4 and they were quite big, in my opinion! All these little guys had those cool flavors mentioned on the outside, but then you also get to pick your filling of Chocolate, Original Vanilla or Green tea! For some reason they didn't have green tea when I went in, so I still need to try that. Both the Chocolate and Vanilla were gooey custard in all the right ways. The chocolate fondant had a very light chocolate taste to it, not overly rich which I enjoyed. There is still a lot for me to try at Beard Papa's but I'm so glad I finally made the plunge into their pool trying their cream puffs! read more

This signature cream puff is creamy in custard and the pie crust outside tastes gentle in mouth. However, the custard inside is much less than I had in Shanghai. Their menu offers over 20 different cream puffs, with your choice of vanilla or dark chocolate filling. Their cream puffs are hand filled to order, ensuring optimal freshness. They also have other desserts like mochi and ice cream, plus an extensive selection of specialty coffee/tea drinks. The young guy working was friendly, and patient while I made my selections. My favorite choice was the Honey Butter Cream Puff. Lightly dusted in powdered sugar and absolutely gushing vanilla custard, the authentic flavors were outstanding. The Matcha Green Tea Eclair Puff was a close second, whose smooth white chocolate coating provided just the right level of sweetness. The Japanese Donut was on the dry side, but still very good. I personally prefer their vanilla filling over the dark chocolate. If you are a cream puff fan, this K-town Beard Papa's is a must try. read more

Stick to the plain original! And eat them right away (they get soggy) and order an Americano! It goes well with coffee. Oreo - too sweet Creme Brûlée-not as crunchy, sorta mushy, had too much cream but it was not bad.. Matcha- I usually like matcha but this one wasn't memorable. To be honest, these are overrated cream puffs. You can get better tastier ones from Vietnamese shops. Vietnamese cream puffs are much better. Also, Beard Papa's cream puffs are expensive. But in K-Town, these are probably the best ones you can get here. read more

Came to this location on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend, not busy at all. It was easy to find parking in the structure here and since we grabbed the items super quickly, parking was free. We were warmly welcomed by a kind man who took the time to share all the flavors they had available as well as recommend some of his favorites. Rung us up super quickly with assistance of his young daughter. They also advised us to refrigerate them quickly to retain their freshness if we weren't gonna eat them on the spot. I ended up getting 6 types of cream puffs: matcha eclair, cookies and cream, strawberry shortcake, caramel crunch, and two honey butter (one filled with original cream and the second with matcha). Beard papa's never disappoints--super light, crunchy on the outside, and soft and creamy on the inside. I really recommend the honey butter shell because it's extra crispy. We had never been to Beard Papas and were drawn in by the delicious looking cream puffs through the window. We walked in and were pleasantly greeted by the owner Steve. He asked if we were familiar with how the cream puffs were made. Since we had no clue, Steve proceeded to give is a nice quick overview about how the cream puffs were made along with a demonstration of how they are filled with the cream filling. There were a variety of cream puffs but the two I bought were the original and the twice baked ones which have honey and butter in them and taste like cream brûlée once the cream filling is injected in and you take your first bite. I also got a chance to taste the Mochi Guava Ice Cream exclusively flown in from the original manufacturer Bubbies located in Hawaii. I learned that the outer coating is made with a delicate rice coating filled with ice cream. If it isn't from Bubbies, it's not authentic original Mochi. With that great introduction to the world of Japanese Cream Puffs and Hawaiian Mochi Ice Cream, I tremendously enjoyed my desserts and look forward to returning for some more delicious desserts!
