This was my first time trying this place, and I really believe that your experience heavily relies on what you get. I got there first thing in the morning, meaning the pastries were nice and fresh. It was not empty but not packed. We could easily get our food, check out, and sit down at one of the many available tables. We got the jalapeño cream cheese bread, milk pudding bun, marble taro, mango custard bun, choco bun, and berrytale. The jalapeño cream cheese was by far the star. The bread was soft and fluffy filled with flavorful jalapeño cream cheese, and topped with crunchy bits of cheese. It went by fast. The berrytale was the best out of the sweet pastries. It was nice and soft, with a tangy and fruity cream cheese center. I appreciated how the top of this pastry had become sort of caramelized and crunchy, which gave it a great taste and differentiating texture. The milk pudding bun was also delicious though simple. Not much happening flavor wise as it is simply a soft bun filled with custard, but delightful nonetheless. The marble taro was not good. I love taro, and enjoyed the filling itself, but the bread had become mushy, which did not pair well with the already mushy taro. Though there were bits of crunchy grain throughout, this did not do much to help the overall bread and we ended up just throwing it away. The mango custard bun was ok. All the textures were great, and the bun was nicely filled. The flavor of the was not what I would have expected, as it was more savory- akin to an Indian mango chutney. I found this taste slightly off putting in the context of the custard bun, but not entirely revolting. read more

Nice displays, the decor and customer service can both be improved. The place is too spare for me, folks could be friendlier. Got savory pastries to go (garlic and bacon) and some egg tarts. I'm not much of a cake guy, but after sampling a series of 85's different options -- Red Velvet, Black Forest, Mango and Tiramisu -- I am very nearly sold. The cakes from this Asian bakery are lighter, and not as rich or sweet (or sticky) as your usual Western offerings so for me they're a n easier way to indulge. I hear their breads are good too. This 85 degrees location is located on the corner of a high-traffic shopping center. I believe this location pretty clean and fully stocked for that reason alone. The bread is fresh and their drinks are delicious. The staff are business oriented and willing to answers your inquiries. In this picture, I ordered their brown sugar iced latte.. not only does it look great but it tasted great too! I usually stop here once a week to pick up treats with my work bestie. Just asked for my usual Vietnamese coffee add Taro and boba and the barista there made my drink horrendously wrong. And when I asked to have the drink fixed he said this is the way we make it and handlled me my drink and continued to call the next order! I then proceeded to go back to the counter to speak to the cashier to tell her I wanted my drink remain and then someone else dipped and remade my drink and forgot all the modifications but I don't tolerate attitudes like that especially when you can tell that it's visually a mountain of powder at the bottom of my drink separated by the actual liquid. At the register, I turned down the opportunity to provide a tip, considering I picked the baked good out of the case and carried it to the front to check out. When my friend stepped to the front to buy his pastries, he got the Gen Z stare (a vacant, blank expression often given in response to a question, particularly from older generations) from the young cashier. Was interested to see how West Coast Asian bakery offerings were compare to East Coast NYC's Asian bakery options. Noticed they didn't have some of the classics I'm used to. Had a great experience I got a mango cake and Sil the cashier was v helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!

The food was good. The service was terrible. That lady in the counter, she tried to rush everything. She kept raising her voice at us. I understand my friend wasn't fully prepared when we ordered but that lady was the one that pressured us to go to the counter yelling "next available customer to the counter please" and while she was taking the order, she kept cutting my friend out. She's not letting her finish her sentence. She kept repeating the order so my friend got confused. I tried to ignore but when our number was called we didn't hear her the first time because the lady that serves in the pick up counter wasn't really loud enough for her voice to travel across the room.. And the pick up counter was all the way to the end of the store which was a relatively far from the tables were set. It was hard to hear because of all the noise in the background and the music and that lady in the counter. The other guy was just looking at us and his colleagues like he is judging us instead of apologizing for his teammate. The lady that served the drinks at the counter's reaction triggered me to post this because she turned her back on me as i was picking up the order and she responding to me without facing me. This location is smacked right in the heart of Ktown. So it is very accessible and easy to get to, parking on the other hand can be a head ache. There's no set parking lot so everything is street parking, again if you can find any. They have a kiosk right up front for you to order drinks and they can be prepared while you shop for your baked goods. The food is all individually wrapped which I like so no one is touching things and putting them back. They also have a case with pastries that require to be kept cold so you'll need assistance with those. The ladies that helped me out today were so nice and helpful. Took the time to recommend their fav drinks. I ended up getting a mango green tea and a strawberry matcha latte. Both were so good and not too sweet which I always appreciate. The dining room seating area could have used a bit of a clean up. Other than that great place to stop for something sweet! read more

Hello,  This morning, we placed a two-coffee pickup order at the Koreatown location. Upon arrival, we saw two customers in line and went directly to the pickup area. Amber, the cashier, assisted the customers but the line kept growing. She called more customers to the register while ignoring me for over 15 minutes. She helped me after finishing with all the customers in line. I pointed out that I had been waiting and asked why she was ignoring my pickup order. She said she didn't know what I was there for, despite the clearly marked pickup sign above my head. She then claimed they handle customers in line first, dismissing my concern. It's extremely disappointing to wait so long for a pickup, especially when trying to save time, only to receive poor service.  If you're reading this, skip pick-up orders here--some cashiers have terrible customer service. I don't expect perfection, but this place made me feel like I was trying to get free coffee. I regret wasting my time and money, especially since Koreatown offers better options. This was a frustrating, wasteful experience at the Koreatown location. read more

I feel like out of all the locations, this is probably the one who needs the most work. The bathrooms are so dirty. The sitting area is always messy and never clean for new customers to sit. I've seen a few tables not get wiped down for the entire time I'm there... and no, it wasn't busy. The staff most time is really short with you. Almost unfriendly or unwelcoming. The drinks are a miss sometimes. I'm not giving it one star because I don't want to bring down the ratings. I just want to see them do better. It's such a big and busy location... 85 Degrees is my go-to spot for all cake cravings and sweet fixes! I've tried almost everything on the menu by now. Their boba drinks are solid, and the mango cake is a total standout--super popular and for good reason. The strawberry shortcake is incredibly fresh and light, and the mango crème brûlée and strawberry tiramisu are so, so good--highly recommend both! The only item I didn't enjoy as much was the classic tiramisu or tiramisu cheesecake. The powdery finish on top had a dry texture that just didn't work for me. One small tip: always double-check your bill. It seems like prices are manually entered at the register, and I've noticed a couple of mistakes in the past. Silvia is usually behind the counter and she's always enthusiastic and helpful - her lively and cheerful manner is contagious!
