If you haven't tried Salt & Straw, my only question is do you live under a rock? It's literally the best place to try unique ice cream in LA. They have so many locations and only wish they had more. The closest to me is about 20mins away but it's worth the drive every time. I love this location especially. Always such friendly staff and never have to wait in a long line. Basically, if you're a newbie, you go in and ALWAYS as for the "seasonal flavors" for tasting. They give you tasters on silver spoons and you drop it down this hole when you're done. It's literally their culture to give you a taste of everything on their seasonal menu so don't skip out on this experience. It's the best way to try their ice cream. FUN FACT: they also have 1-2 flavors that are considered "last chance" flavors which means they are about to run out so get it before it's gone. Each month I go in to try another tasty flavor and it never disappoints but I am sometimes that girl who tries the new stuff but ends up getting her usual order (chocolate brownie) and am always happy. Just the smell of sugar cone alone when you walk in gets you hooked. The atmosphere is just so welcoming. Don't be intimidated by the many flavors to choose from because there are a lot. I like to get their double scoop in a waffle cone, but they also have awesome split scoop options for those more adventurous and want to try multiple flavors in one scoop. Saves you for when you're keeping your sugar levels down. There are usually always places to sit inside or outside so you can enjoy your goodies right away. One of the most memorable ice cream shops! I've visited innumerable times, and every visit is incredible. I love the vintage feel of the store, with cute decor. There's always a pretty long wait, but it moves pretty quickly. The employees are efficient with taking orders and scooping ice cream. I absolutely love how Salt & Straw has a changing seasonal menu. It's so fun to see what unique flavors/themes they have for every month. I vividly remember their cereal theme, which featured different delicious cereal flavors. Kaylen went above and beyond. My son tried a sample of the spicy jalapeño ice cream and immediately started coughing because it was too spicy for him. Before I even had a chance to react, Kaylen quickly brought him water and offered him a different ice cream to help get rid of the spicy taste. Awesome service as always, allowing me to try many different flavors so that I can decide what three flavors I want for my milkshake and I decided to go with Banana Bread w/ strawberry jam (I was informed it has alcohol in it, not sure what kind,) Oishii brand Strawberry Pretzel Salad, and then Wild-Foraged Berry Slab Pie! Milkshake 5/5 Consistency is always on point, not too thick, not too runny. This combination was AMAZING and unfortunately I'll probably never get to have it again since the flavors were either last chance or seasonal limited time flavors :( I'll keep coming back here and I'll leave with a shake every single time. After walking around the Galleria. We wanted some ice cream, because why not? They offer samples of any of their gelato creations. They even use actual spoons and not the cheap plastic throw away shovel ones. They have multiple spoon chutes to return the used spoons, which I've never seen before. They have a lot of different interesting combinations. Some weird ones like blue cheese, rhubarb, black pepper and others. But they also had some that looked really good too. I got 2 scoops, including, their lavander honey and their strawberry and coconut water. It was creamy and thick. Each one had its own unique flavors. Price wise considering we were in a bougie area with Rolls Royce and Bentleys being parked by guys in suits it was not bad. $8.50 for a double scoop. My niece and I were waiting for my brother at the dental office closeby and we were getting bored. I asked her to go to this place with me and we got there in time. We both had a sample of what we wanted and ended up getting those flavors. I got the kids cup which is perfect size for me (since I am on a diet and dont realoy eat as much anyway) and my niece got the single scoop cup. This small shop is part of a larger chain that I once had in Las Vegas, but the first time I got it I wasn't completely blown away so I was ready to give it another go. I've been meaning to try this place for so long! Came to this specific location before 10 pm on a Tuesday. There were parking spots open along the street but surprisingly a good amount of people in the shop. The inside is small and there are some benches outside to sit at. The employees all were so friendly and kind. They let me, my boyfriend, and my little brother try as many flavors as we wanted. The selection was pretty interesting, not as expansive as Wanderlust but just as unique. I decided to try the strawberry balsamic with black pepper, the olive oil, and the peach & blue cheese. I really really enjoyed the peach & blue cheese so I got 1 scoop on a waffle cone. I wouldn't get a waffle cone again because the scoops are gigantic!! It is like $6 for 1 scoop but totally worth it since they give you so much. My brother got the honey lavender and the white chocolate almond (holiday flavor) while my boyfriend got a milkshake with honey lavender and pumpkin bread ("last scoop" previous season flavor). The milkshake comes with 3 scoops that you can mix and match. I was tempted to get one but it would probably be way too much for me. I don't think I would really get anything else but the peach & blue cheese out of their signature flavors. I do wish they had more fruity options that aren't sorbet. I've been to many locations but this one is closest to my home base so pop in from time to time. Parking can be rough as its located on the hot strip in Larchmont. But there is street parking and a lot across the street, so just keep your eyes peeled to eventually find something. As mentioned, you'll be met with a long line. But it moves pretty well and the staff is so darn friendly that your annoyance of a line will quickly dissipate. Plus it gives you time to peruse their menu board! They have a bunch of standard flavors, but also insanely creative and crazy one off flavors. Right now they have summer picnic flavors. The fried chicken is weird and fun to taste, as is the sour cherry pie. I wouldn't get a full bowl of it but the Baked Brie & Fig Cheesecake is calling my name, beckoning me to come back soon to give it a try. Highlights of their classics for me are the Sea Salt w.Caramel, Double Fold Vanilla, Chocolate Gooey Brownie, Malted Cookie Dough, Pear & Blue Cheese and Mint Chocolate Chip. The seasonal ice cream flavors are definitely must try. With a rotating seasonal menu and go to staples; this place has it all. My favorite has to be the salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough. There is metered parking all around and there's a parking lot but I'm not sure if they charge for parking.
