I wish I can give this place less than one star. The worst staff, rude and arrogant with frowned faces. Although desserts look good, they're too sugary and absolutely NOT fresh. I ordered two slices of cake, the barista wrapped them and when I opened the box for my kids, I found the wrong item. On a different day, I ordered a coffee at 5pm, the girl gave me the cup and it wasn't hot, I told her I needed a freshly brewed coffee, she replied "I'm sorry ma'am, we only brew coffee early in the morning and keep it in thermos ". So at 5pm, I drank coffee brewed at 6am!!!! Then she offered to warm it up for me, I said ok because I needed it so bad after a long day at work, she spilled half of it while heating it up and came back with half the cup ($3.75). It doesn't matter how great a bakery is if they can't fill an order that was placed 16 hours before pickup. Oh, did I mention that the order was well over $100. None of the items were special orders, they were breads, rolls and assorted in the case items. When you're told that they they were very busy, good for them, not for customers. It was also my fault because I should have ordered 24 hours before pickup. They accepted my order online with my payment and they never checked their online orders when they came into the store when they opened. So, the final conclusion, it was my fault! No business is ever that good to not treat their customers with respect! After all of the many years of coming in, I'm done, and I have seen them do this to others, BTW, it's the manager who is responsible for the attitude! read more

My faves are the rye bread (thin sliced with seeds), black & white cookies, "upside down" chocolate cupcakes (the ones with powdered sugar), frosted cupcakes, and the cookie mix is delightful. Been going to Bea's since it opened in 1968 when I grew up in the area. We split our time between OC and Santa Barbara now and stop in Bea's frequently. I have noticed a change in presentation but quality seems like what I am use to. I did stop last Friday and pick up some corn rye and reguelech for our friends. I asked for the reguelech to bagged and boxed. They came back in white boxes not taped closed. What happend to the pink boxes and string tied boxes? These are the small thing that diminish the brand. This bakery is connected to a delicious restaurant that goes by the name of Mort's Deli. My grandmother and I happened to be in the neighborhood and stopping by here was not a disappointment! I purchased a dozen sufganiyot at Bea's Bakery for over $50 for the dozen. I was really surprised by the taste. True Hanukkah donuts are very doughy and not super sweet. These donuts tasted like Winchell's or Dunkin. I found out later that the donuts were indeed baked elsewhere (either Winchell's or Dunkin) and sold at Bea's for at least 3-4 times the price. A nice place to pick up some bread. My little boy loves the Pumpernickel Raisin Bread here. The Rugelach, Chocolate Danish, and Cookies are some of my favorites. I am NOT a fan of their cakes. I find them to be very dry and too sweet. Service is efficient. Old school bakery vibe. read more

This place is the REAL DEAL! A valley classic. The only better Rugelach is made by my best friends bubbie. The only issue is the rude ass clientele. Seriously.. This place can get BUSY and the bakery workers are fast, efficient and accommodating- however it does require some patience on the customers end. To the lady with the fuchsia manicure who caused a whole scene this afternoon and yelled at one of the workers demanding an apology (for no reason) your behavior is EXACTLY what I'm talking about when I say the clientele is rude af. I recently heard about this bakery and had to check it out. I was raised in Brooklyn New York but for the last 8 years have resided in Las Vegas Nevada. This bakery is incredible and has an amazing selection of pastries, cakes, bread's and they will let you sample a cookie. I visited the bakery on January 19th shortly before they were closing and there was a rainstorm going on outside. I was immediately greeted by 2 workers... Vanessa and I think the other gentleman was Junior although I called him a "bum" cuz we were telling funny things to each other while I was making my selections.. anyway I left with two bags of great things and I will take back with me... I was SO excited to find Bea's Bakery. 100% worth a stop in to this absolute institution in the Valley. My mom has been hunting for a rich, dense rum ball for years but all the bakeries she used to visit for them have all gone out of business. Bea's is still going strong and had the rum balls! They also have a great selection of fresh baked breads (great looking challah), babka, danishes, cakes, mixed cookies, and rugelach. Their rugelach is super light and delicious. I got some mixed cookies and such to take to a friend's house and one of the cookies I'll definitely be getting more of next time - kind of a sesame florentine. I'm not sure what it's actually called but a super thin crisp of sesame seeds and crisp toffee. Amazing, will be back for more. They also do custom cakes - turns out they did my friend's wedding cake and I didn't even realize it! Bonus - they adjoin Mort's Deli next door. We grabbed 2 pastrami sandwiches from Mort's to go while we were there and were not disappointed. Fantastic stop while in the Valley. Looking forward to returning. read more

You'd think me crazy for not giving this place a 5 or even 4 star rating no? On the low down- Bea's is a very well known bakery with tons of options tucked away besides Mort's Deli in Tarzan's. When you arrive there you'll see the assortment of goodies calling your name. However, what it may lack is the most important thing. Taste. I was placed on hold for 35 mins simply to place a custom cake order. The service was not what I expected and in fact, they charge you about $5-7 extra for simple fillings that should be free in my opinion. I was warned the cakes wouldn't be the best tasting, but for the kicks of it and because I like to try everywhere once, I went for the infamous burger cake! Yes, they completed my order how I asked and delivered in laughs for a comical dessert experience. But No, it was not that good of a cake. It was rather dry, the frosting wasn't sweet, and for $40, I basically paid for the experience. However, the birthday boy loved it so maybe I'm a critic. I'll definitely go back to try some different pastries! But won't be going out of my way necessarily. read more

I was so excited to order a birthday cake from Bea's. I made some very specific but easy requests which were no purple and blue flowers as the cake was to be simple and more masculine. Guess what I got? Purple and blue flowers. EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD THEM NOT TO PUT ON THE CAKE. The manager was not helpful and didn't care. I've had better customer service at Vons. EDIT- I visited the bakery and explained my experience and the manager was extremely sympathetic and said she speaks to her staff often about being more understanding and she will continue to do so. She agreed there was so reason for rude customer service and apologized on behalf of her staff. She said that unfortunately they are not able to have spare masks to pass out since they would need to have them either individually wrapped or out a box so customers could take for themselves since if a staff member hands over a mask they would need to put a glove on just to touch it so in case someone gets sick from a mask they handed over. I used to not like, LOVE this place. I have countless childhood memories coming to this place. I even told so many people (jokingly) that one of the most fun parts of giving birth at Tarzana hospital is the proximity to Bea's bakery. Today I was there and they were so rude. I was wearing a mask however my friend forgot hers and asked if they had an extra one. Instead of saying that unfortunately they don't (unlike most businesses that provide extra masks to their customers as a courtsy) they were extremely rude. They barked back that "no we don't provide masks!" It's a pity how an experience with some rude employees can put such a bad taste in your mouth and reverse years of joyful and warm memories. I understand the mask mandate, and yes my friend should have had a mask but it's the service of the employees that just was very unfortunate and disheartening. read more

Absolutely love this place. I'm not a big sweets person. However, this place pulls me in every time. The cookies are to die for the challah bread is so incredibly delicious. The cakes are out of this world.
