Paris Baguette Bakery & Restaurant is absolutely phenomenal! Entering this place feels exactly like stepping into a cozy European café. They make daily, from-scratch pastries in small batches, ranging from mochi donuts, butter croissants, and custard-filled donuts to fresh baguette sandwiches, salads, and tons of drink selections like fresh juices, mineral waters, and lattes. The service is super friendly and incredibly fast. The system is so fun and easy: you just walk in, grab a tray and a pair of tongs, handpick your desired pastries, and head to the front. You can eat there or take them to go in a box. If you order a sandwich, they can heat it up on-site for you so you get a cheesy, warm, toasty meal. For this visit, we tried: World Cup Special Donut: A custard-filled donut topped with chocolate and shaped like a soccer ball in honor of the World Cup going on right now. The egg custard filling was so addictive and creamy--absolutely amazing! Almond Croissant: Stuffed with almond paste, covered in buttery, toasted almond slices, and dusted with powdered sugar. The flavor was fantastic! The inside could have been just a tiny bit more moist, and I always wish for more of that delicious almond filling, but it was still extremely flavorful. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Sitting outside is especially nice since you're facing busy Ventura Boulevard, making it a perfect spot to shade-sit and people-watch. Plus, it's located in a great shopping plaza, so there's plenty of parking. My only critique is that it is definitely a little overpriced, making it more of a "once-in-a-while" treat rather than a daily habit. Is it over hyped? I'm not so sure! I came in the afternoon and that might be the reason, I didn't have many options to buy. I asked for their most popular coffee drink, and they told me it was the Korean Iced coffee. It was one of those pre-made fountain drink and it has a metallic aftertaste. I love coffee and I was so disappointed. I had few pastries, from what they have left. My toddler wanted the bear looking cake. She tried it and spit it out. Can't really trust toddler's taste sometimes, but when I tried it, it's dry and nothing special. Mango cake was tasty, but it has more cream than the actual cake. I did really enjoy the tiramisu tart, I'd get a box of it if I can. My husband also liked the twisted donut, but he said, he'd still prefer a regular donut shop. read more

Today, my order from Paris Baguette the Encino location I had some new items I had never had before: The Korean Bbq pizzetta: it was a flaky pizzetta pastry topped with Korean BBQ shredded beef, red onion, melted cheese, and a Korean BBQ mayo. Then I got the 4 cheese quiches- a super Rich, Flaky Pastry filled with Egg and a blend of four cheeses (Swiss, Cheddar, Parmesan, Mozzarella) with rosemary. I had a really disappointing experience at this coffee shop. The coffee I was served was extremely hot to the point it was almost undrinkable, and on top of that, the milk had clearly gone sour. It tasted off right away. When I brought it to their attention, they did remake the drink, but only after I pointed it out. What was more concerning is that the staff mentioned they were out of that milk afterward -- which makes me think the original drink may have been made using leftover, not-so-fresh milk. Also, I noticed that the prices for pastries have gone up, which would be fine if the quality and service matched, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. There was no real apology or effort to make up for the experience, which left a negative impression overall. Solid spot to buy cakes. I always go here to buy birthday cakes. I never had one that I didn't like, they are also the right size for a small family. For some they might think that the price is expensive - it is if you're expecting a big say Porto's size cake - the cakes here are smaller but I find they're more aesthetically pleasing. Also they give you candles, cake cutter that has a small match set so you Pretty much have what you need to celebrate! Aside from the cakes I also go here for their pastries, croissants and baguettes. They have cake rolls as well which are also really good, I love the mocha but they have a lot of different flavors. It's always reassuring to walk into such a friendly and upbeat atmosphere, where you're greeted with a genuine smile. From the very first bite, I could taste the soft, flaky layers, raspberry filling was sweet and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the toasted almonds and dusted off with powdered sugar-absolutely delicious. My second pastry was a spiral-shaped croissant with chocolate bits baked into the layers, filled with custard cream and topped with fresh strawberry pieces. Everytime I've been to Paris baguette, it's always been for a drink and a pastry. Or takeout with a really good selection of pastry, breads and muffins. This visit, I needed to pick up a whole cake. What they had online all looked amazing. I didn't place an order as I assume that they would have loads onsite. Which they did. FYI, encino location gets pretty busy during lunch time so seating can be difficult. Didn't have to worry about that as I was only stopping by to pick something up. Besides all the amazing whole cakes, their beautiful and colorful dessert and pastries are amazing and delicious. Beautifully crafted and displayed neatly in the glass case. If you don't know the concept, you grab a tray and thongs. Everything is behind the glass case. Grab what you would like, place on your tray and pay for it at the counter. There's also amazing drinks made on site as well as an array of premade sandwiches. The selection of everything is great. Also, the cases are replaced often so you'll always get what you want as there's loads. Cake wise, I went with the blueberry chiffon cake. Filled with soft cream, topped with blueberries yogurt soft cream and blueberries. All their cakes are very clean looking and not over the top. Clean and classic goes a very long way. I didn't get the concept of this cake. Was it bundt cake as there was a hole in the middle. Plus it was the only one like that. Oh well. It was quite nice. Cake was soft and fluffy and not overly sweet. Very light and fluffy. They also can write whatever for you. Price wise was good for the whole cakes. As I mentioned above, the food and coffee are worth the stop alone. But when you add the great service given by the employees and the space that gives many people an opportunity to take a load off. Oh, my. I love their goodies - but only when other people bring it for me. I went in a little before 1pm on a Saturday and I felt like I was in a train station. The space is so small and feels so clustered. It was uncomfortable to look around, or be able to even take our time deciding what we'd like because there was a cluster of people. There wasn't even that many of us, under 10 people for sure! But because they have it set up the way they do, it made everything harder than it needed to be. Service was okay. Plenty of parking and easy access make this Paris Baguette location convenient to visit. The pastries are consistently fresh, well balanced, beautifully decorated and delicious. I was especially impressed with their croissants: they were buttery, flaky and incredibly satisfying. I also appreciate the wide variety of offerings, from delicate macarons to savory items like sausage-in-a-bun. We ordered the bacon, egg and cheese croissants, which were flavorful and filling. The croissant selection included plain, almond, chocolate, strawbery and raspberry almond; all of which looked tempting. The pain aux raisins was sweet with a generous amount of raisins, and the King Cream Donut was a standout: light, fluffy and arguably the best item we tried. We purchased the package macrons; they were sweeter than I expected and didnt match the price range. The coffee here is decent. The Americano was strong and well made, while the Mocha was overly sweet and tasted more like chocolate milk than a true mocha. The seating situation could use improvement. Indoor seating is tight and limited and the outdoor heating lamps were all nonfunctional, which made dinning outside quite uncomfortable on a cold day. In addtion, the customer service needs attention. The employees seemed disengaged, not particularly attentive and not very welcomng. With better staff training and improved hospitality, this location would deliver a far more enjoyable overall experience. read more

Well, we are asked by Tanya to pick up the cakes on the way home. She made no effort of looking up the order or the cakes that were put aside for us. Then she had the audacity to blame us. When Tanya texted us the order number, she magically found the cakes that clearly labeled "Tanya" on the boxes. This is truly poor customer service. She made no effort of looking for the prepaid preordered cakes and made us wait for a good 10-15 mins for no apparent reason. Didn't get to try some of the ones I haven't seen before since we were only here for a quick coffee but need to try it next time! I went for their iced salted maple latte this time around and although the pistachio and coconut lattes are still my favorite, this one is up there! This was my second time dining at this location. They are located in a large strip mall. There is ample free parking (above and underground). There is indoor and outdoor parking. The staff is courteous. I especially appreciate it because they get an influx of customers, at least during the weekend when I have gone. However, no smiles or good morning. They were "just doing their job". I don't fault them but... They have done some upgrades inside and changed to look a bit. It looks nice but it has not changed my mind regarding the food. Each time (twice) I have entered my first thought is, "This is a patisserie, why doesn't it smell like one??" There is no scent of butter croissants, puffed pastries, bread baking, sweet frosting, nada. It made me wonder, do they bake off site? I saw decorating being done. There were pastry pictures for the staff posted on a room to the side. Let's chalk it up to a great filtrations system. I digress. The pastries are displayed beautifully and there is a large assortment. The hot chocolate was average. I tried the Provence ChickenPesto Baguette, various pastries and especially their Croissants. They have a lot of different pastries, donuts, and cake slices (as well as full size cakes). Paris Baguette has one of the best rewards/apps of any store. They have coupons and specials on the app, and you get a free cake slice for your birthday. Definitely recommend getting the app if you plan to come here a lot. Service was fine. If you order coffee, they'll call out your name when it's ready (pick-up is on the end of the counter closest to Ventura). Plenty of tables inside, but no wifi.
